7 must-read FIFA 17 tips and tricks – directly from the developers at EA Sports.
Ben Wilson travelled to developer EA Canada to get the inside scoop on what’s changed this year – and these seven essential tips will ensure you score an immediate advantage over all your friends…
Whether it’s Ultimate Team, career mode, or newly added story mode The Journey, there’s something here for players of all expertise levels. One vital thing to take on board is that pace has been slightly toned down this year, and physicality ramped up – meaning powerful target men are, at last, an asset rather than an albatross. But there’s plenty else you need to know, too. Take it away, EA…
1. In The Journey, consider your destination.
Picking an elite side can be something of a poisoned chalice.
You’ll almost certainly be keen to check out that new story mode before you do anything else in this year’s FIFA. You play as 17-year-old prospect Alex Hunter, and can choose to turn out for any one of the 20 current Premier League clubs – but picking an elite side can be something of a poisoned chalice. Mat Prior, who directed the mode, explains:
“There’s no single most challenging club in The Journey, as we wanted to give people that element of choice – but it is definitely harder if you’re playing for a team whose goal is to win the Premier League. Such as the Manchester clubs, or Chelsea. Plus at United and City, you’re up against Ibrahimovic and Aguero just to get into the side. You need an average rating of 8.0 to break into the team ahead of them, which is a daunting prospect.”
“If you’re a relative novice, you should go for the less marquee teams,” continues Prior. “I would suggest, if you have genuinely no allegiance, one of the mid-table to lower-tier teams. Crystal Palace is a good one. They’re a little way down the table, but have a decent squad, and great fan chants in the game too.”
2. Master the perfect free kick…
Set pieces are more challenging, yet offer greater flexibility this year. For instance, you can change the angle of your run up before striking the ball, using nudges of the right stick. “All new features take some time to get used to,” says lead gameplay producer Sam Rivera. “What you need to do with free kicks is understand the player you are using, and know his attributes. For instance, ‘curve’ obviously really affects how much curve a shot will have.” Aim too far wide of the net with a player who has less than a 75 curve rating, and there’s zero chance of it bending back in to hit the target. (Don’t forget you can check player attributes before striking the ball, by holding R2/RT.)
Under Rivera’s tutelage, we find half the power bar to be just the right amount of oomph to both keep the ball down and stretch the keeper, after a conventional run up. But, as he explains, there’s a twist: “If you position a player in direct line with the ball, you can go around the wall with the outside of the foot – the Roberto Carlos style. You couldn’t do anything like that before.” Getting it right is much harder than a standard free kick, but there can surely be no better way to properly rub a mate’s face in when they’ve just clattered you on the edge of the area.
3. … and penalty kick.
Spot kicks are even more challenging to adjust to than free kicks, if you’re a returning FIFA 16 player. It’s taken two weeks of FourFourTwo moaning that they are broken to adjust to the new system, and even now we prefer the old one. Anyway, over to Rivera: “For penalty kicks, the mechanic is now completely different. Once you get it, we think it’s much better - like taking a regular shot. Use the right stick to line up your player, then the left stick to start your run up. You can sprint with RT/R2, slow down with the LT/L2, and obviously at this point need to hold down the shoot button. The faster you approach the ball, the more powerful it will be – but also the higher your margin for error. My favorite technique is sprinting, even though there’s more chance to miss!”
4. Pick your online team wisely.
Big, powerful strikers like Ibra and Diego Costa are a massive factor in FIFA 17, that’s exactly what we’ve been aiming for.
Fed up of having to play as one of Spain’s El Clasico teams to stand a chance online? Mercifully, changes to the match engine, in particular that improved sense of physicality where bulky players simply refuse to be budged off the ball, open up other strong sides with which you can combat FIFA’s traditional big two.
“The classic teams everyone plays as every year are Bayern Munich , Real Madrid and Barcelona ,” says Rivera. “This year you can definitely add Manchester United and Chelsea to that list, for competitive gameplay. They’re both so physical. Big, powerful strikers like Ibra and Diego Costa are a massive factor in FIFA 17, that’s exactly what we’ve been aiming for. Borussia Dortmund are recommended too, for different reasons. You won’t be using the physical play as much with someone like Marco Reus, but he’s fast, and so is Aubameyang – they’re a really speedy side. FIFA isn’t just about pace any more, but with players like that it is still a difference maker.”
5. Stop being Mr Dribbles.
While teams packed with power rangers get a much-needed boost in FIFA 17, there’s less of an advantage to packing your squad with players boasting five-star skill moves. Again, that should make online play much more balanced. “If you pick a passing team – Barcelona are the best example, obviously – you can put together, say, ten passes in a row and it will all flow better, because we’ve improved the game’s passing and active intelligence such as player movement,” says Rivera.
“There’s more activity around you,” he continues. “In previous years you could dribble around everyone with one guy like Messi or Neymar, but not any more. You can still dribble past a couple of guys, but we’ve changed the defense so that team-mates support one another better. It’s not just one defender trying to tackle Messi. Other defenders will move across to cover much more effectively, and choose better tackle animations when you (or an AI team-mate) makes a challenge.”
6. Get physical in career mode.
Who would I recommend above all else? Renato Sanches - he’s a beast this year.
No surprises as to the type of player Rivera recommends for those planning to sample career mode this year. “It’s a good, but tricky, question. I play as Club America, so focus on signings from the Mexican League, rather than your Premier League.”
The trick is to drill down into player stats rather get swept away by your infatuation with one big name: “I would say it doesn’t matter on the individual, but a combination of two specific attributes. They are the player’s mass – how big they are – and their strength attribute. We combine those values to determine how strong the guys are. The bigger the player, the better he’ll be this year. Who would I recommend above all else? Renato Sanches, who just signed for Bayern Munich, he’s a beast this year. And he’ll be great in Ultimate Team as well as career mode!” I’ve applied this exact advice to my Ultimate Team, and as a result have Olivier Giroud (194 lbs, 88 Strength) monstering through all comers. Far more effectively than he ever has done for Arsenal, in truth.
7. Broaden your Ultimate Team horizons.
More FIFA 17.
Ultimate Team is more addictive than ever this year – but don’t bother dropping six months’ worth of coins (or wages!) on a Suarez, Ronaldo and Messi. You can get much greater value in the next tier down. “Dimitri Payet for West Ham was always one of those players last year,” says Ultimate Team producer Garreth Reeder. “The poor man’s Mesut Ozil. You could find him at a relative bargain, yet the delta in attributes was not far off the elite players within the Premier League.”
We put this to the test, and he’s right – it’s already possible to build the spine of a top-quality, 100-chemistry Premier League side in Ultimate Team for less than the cost of two gold packs. Planning on adopting the same approach? Be sure to grab Giroud (inevitably) to lead the line, Giannelli Imbula (79 OVR) to do the heavy lifting in midfield, John Terry (84 OVR) for defensive duties, and Fraser Forster (78 OVR) between the sticks. Using the FUT transfer market, all four of these players can individually be purchased for less than 2,500 coins. That’s compared to 23,000 for Payet or a crazy 100,000 for Ozil.

A great trading method is buying large and selling large. First, choose a player that everyone wants and find his average price. You can do this by finding the lowest "Buy Now" price and add 100-200 to it. You need to make sure you are not trying to get huge profits. Trying to get 1,000-2,000 profit per player is not going to work. The basic idea is to start slow and take things from there. Additionally, you need to take the five percent tax rate into consideration. When it comes to profit, you need to target something around 200 coins per item. Once you have everything sorted out, bid approximately 4,500 on your chosen player, then sell him for around 5,100 (taking into account the five percent tax). 100-200 may not seem too appealing, but you should not be going with a single card. For example, if you bid on 50 cards and manage to sell 15, you should make a fairly decent profit in no time. Repeat this process to get a decent amount of coins without playing a single game. Note: Make sure to also consider things like market fluctuation and player popularity.
The Coin Boost catalogue items allow you to get bonus FUT coins for each match played. These are the most sought after items in the EAS FC catalogue and must be acquired as early as possible. Once activated, you get your rewards at the end of a match. For instance, if you have 1,000 x 10 active, it means that you will receive 1,000 additional FUT coins at the end of 10 matches. In order to make the most of these items, you should try to redeem them all at the same time. Since only one item can be active at any given time, you will continue to get awards until your items run out. However, make sure to pay special attention to the order in which you redeem these items. Due to this fact, it is recommended that you redeem the highest level boosters first.
If you have FIFA 16 FUT save data on your system, you will get a Returning Users Pack, which gives you 30 items.
For this method, you need to open "Transfer Market" and choose "Gold". For league and position, select Premier League and Defenders. Set your "Buy Now" price to somewhere around 400-450 and select "Search". You basically need to buy all players that appear in the search results, set the price range a little higher, and buy new players as well. Once done, sell those players (taking into account the five percent tax) and you will make a small profit. Repeat this as many times as desired. Note: You can also trade with Silver items and Rare Silver items. The entire procedure is the same as above. Make sure you are setting the prices according to market value.

Fifa 17 tips and tricks.
Fifa 17 brings plenty of new changes and modes to the mix, making this one of the most entertaining entries in years. Everything from player movement to an entirely new campaign has been tweaked or overhauled.
So, to make sure you're clued up and tooled up for both online matches, The Journey and Ultimate Team, we bring you some of our best Fifa 17 tips, tricks and nuggets of sage advice to get you crossing, defending and shooting like a seasoned pro.
The more we play Fifa 17 (and we play it a lot), the more tips we're uncovering, so make sure you check this guide regularly to keep up with the best Fifa 17 tips and tricks that could turn your virtual footballing career supersonic.
1. Shield the ball in 360 degrees.
The physicality of Fifa has changed dramatically for Fifa 17 with the introduction of Pushback Tech - so now you have far more control over the body of your player, with their momentum and size dictating everything from the fluidity of dribbling to the crunch of a collision. This change has also fundamentally overhauled trapping and ball defence as well.
You can now use LT/L2 to physically protect the ball as you dribble it up field, or shield it more thoroughly when stationary, enabling you to more accurately fend off defenders and set up passes to nearby teammates.
2. Use Driven Shots and Driven Headers.
One of the worst things about the most recent slew of Fifas was the unpredictability of shot power. Despite great positioning or footwork, the chance of hoofing the ball into the stratosphere or rolling it across the line like a sleepwalking pensioner seemed like an endless, binary nightmare. Thankfully, EA Canada has addressed the matter with the introduction of Driven Shots and Driven Headers in Fifa 17.
To pull one off, you first need to get yourself into the 18-yard box, then when you think you've got a clear path to the goal, hold down Circle or B to power up your shot. Just as your player is about to strike the ball, press Circle or B again to make it Driven.
3. Use set piece upgrades to score with style.
Taking free kicks and corners in Fifa has always been a point of contention - sometimes it was super accurate, and other times the digital versions of the world's best players moved like 40-something Sunday footballers. The system needed a reboot, and EA Canada has done just that for Fifa 17.
When it comes to free kicks and penalties you can now use the outside of your foot (hold L1/LB), which will enable you to add more spin to a shot. In corners, you can now assign the corner kick to the game's AI and instead take control of a player in the box, giving you greater control of position and allowing you to set up for a header.
4. Make Fifa 17's settings work for you.
Unless you're brand new to the Fifa series, there are quite a few standard settings that you should change immediately in order to enjoy more control and better overall performances both online in regular matches, and in FUT (Fifa Ultimate Team) mode.
Open the Settings page from the main menu, then turn Fifa Trainer off - this is a tutorial-based feature that will simply get in the way if you're an experienced player. Also switch Auto-Tracking (which automatically selects the nearest player for you in a given situation) to 'Air Balls' as it's a nightmare on Auto or Manual. You'll find you now have complete control over your player.
5. Build the best FUT with Chemistry.
Unlike previous iterations, Fifa 17's take on Ultimate Team now includes a new parameter that directly links to how well your team gels as a whole. Much like the decisions an actual manager would make, how well one player complements another will affect how well your team performs in any given match.
Your team will have a maximum 'Chemistry' rating out of 100, and reaching this level and maintaining it can be tough (see the next tip on how to keep the best players in your squad). A green line between two players signifies a great partnership, yellow a less effective one and red represents a poor combo.
6. Keep the best players signed.
So you've found a set of players that you want as your starting XI? The only problem is, players only last so long before moving on to new clubs and signings. The solution? One of Fifa 17's many consumables - the Contract Card.
If you've bought the Starter Pack, any Contract Cards will come with a 45 game counter that will deplete every time you have a match. In regular FUT packs, Contract Cards will have a maximum of seven matches, so apply them to the most useful and complementary players on your squad. These cards also apply to managers.
7. Use a 4-3-3 formation and score big.
Based on the changes EA Canada has made to the Fifa formula, and how it affects the general flow of the game, your choice of formation will now have a much bigger impact than it did in previous incarnations of the series. For TechRadar, the 4-3-3 formation has proved the most bountiful when it comes to goals.
For a start, this is a super aggressive setup that needs your three strongest strikers up front. Place your best scorer in the middle, and ensure the others have enough speed to support him from the wings. We'd also use a strong playmaking CAM behind them in the midfield to set up plenty of chances.
8. Sign up and coming talents in FUT.
Want to build the very best possible team in Fifa 17? Well, while it's always tempting to gun for the biggest established names in the beautiful game, you'll find that signing some of the best up and coming talent is a surefire way to start upsetting the biggest clubs.
So which promising youngsters should you shoot for? For Fifa 17, Tottenham's Dele Alli has a rating of 90 out of 99, making him the best young talent in the game. Charly Musonda - currently on loan at Real Betis - is another top choice at 88, as is Chelsea's Kurt Zouma at 89. There's also the 'Ones to Watch' feature, which boosts the stats of a card based on that player's performance in reality.
9. Win cash with the Interactive World Cup.
Fifa 17 has added a new league to the Ultimate Team mix and it's full of rewards to earn, and a final prize pot that could change your life forever. For a start, getting into the Weekend League isn't easy - you simply can't just enter and play, you need to earn a spot by winning one of the game's daily knockout tournaments.
Taking part will earn you a bronze reward, while winning a Weekend League will net you a rare and rather expensive kit. The better you perform, the higher your ranking will be on the monthly leaderboards. Do well and you might end up qualifying for the EA Sports Fifa 17 Ultimate Team Championship Series and maybe even the Fifa Interactive World Cup and its $1.3 million top prize.
10. Finish The Journey for FUT rewards.
Apart from the standard trophies or achievements, playing through Fifa 17's NBA 2K-style story mode, The Journey, will also unlock various rewards as you progress to the end of Alex Hunter's story. For instance, you'll receive a FUT Loan Player five times, at random intervals throughout the campaign, and each one will also have a maximum rating of 87 overall.
Once you finish The Journey, you'll also receive a permanent Alex Hunter card for FUT with ratings roughly based on the overall stats of your character. Again, these stats probably won't be as good as your actual player, but they'll be close enough to boost players early in their Fifa 17 FUT career.
11. Career mode bargains.
Finding a list of the best young players that exist in the game is pretty easy given that EA publish it themselves (spoiler: Dele Alli is a bit good), but the most fun arrives from looking further down the list and snapping up a future superstar for a song.
We'd recommend taking a gander at Ajax's Kasper Dolberg or Ajax's Vaclav Cerny or Ajax's. just look at Ajax's youngsters okay?
If you only want the players that will actually climb to the heady heights of super, super stardom (in the game at least) then four players have a potential of 90, the aforementioned Alli, Ousmane Dembele from Dortmund, Renato Junior from Bayern or Anthony Martial from Manchester United.
12. Career mode: Bringing through the kids.
You know, having Martial starring for Burnley in the "EPL" is one thing, but the real pleasure for many players of Fifa is in bringing through the next generation of wonderkids.
Whatever level you are, investing in good youth scouts is an absolute must if you want to bring through superstars.
You'll pretty quickly learn that there's no disgrace in dumping any player that has potential of less than 94 and concentrating on the burgeoning next Messi-types that will arrive in spades if you put a bit of your transfer cash the way of your youth development.
An example - a matter of a few weeks into a season with Charlton (where all of my transfer money went on scouts and not players) and I already have a couple of 16-year-olds who are a shadow away from being first-team ready and will turn out as major players.
13. Train your youngsters.
When you have signed the best youngsters, or pulled them from the random creations of your console's brain then it's your job to get them progressing.
To do this you need to use the training drills which means playing those mini-games that you either love or hate (or hate to love, or love to hate - your choice!). You can just simulate these if you like, but getting top marks is often easier just by doing it yourself. If you're good enough obviously.
14. Don’t forget to monitor your performance.
Playing in FUT (Fifa Ultimate Team) can be the most addictive experience in gaming, but just because you just had a good match doesn’t mean you should rush straight into another. More than ever before, taking stock of your stats and adjusting your team as a result is key to going from casual fan to pro player.
So after every match, take a moment and check over your post-match statistics. In among those figures and percentages could the reason why you’re losing territory, possession or matches. You can’t grow as a player if you don’t identify faults in your play style and tactics.
15. Pass more, dribble less.
For years, playing Fifa online or locally with friends would usually descend into the same one or two players dribbling the virtual boom down the field with a flurry of tricks and clever feet. Those days are well and truly gone in Fifa 17 - especially in the realm of online. EA Canada has recalibrated the flow of play to favour the importance of passing and it’s transformed the game.
Especially for teams such as Barcelona or Arsenal, where passing forms part of their tactical DNA in real life, you can now string together larger number of passes with confidence without fear of an opponent relying purely on dribbling to attain glory.
16. Choose a realistic side in The Journey.
The Journey’s NBA 2K-esque attempt to recreate the career of a young player from grassroots to the highest tier of the professional game certainly makes for an interesting way to take a break from FUT and the like, but you need different tactics when it comes to club choices.
Don’t aim to try out for a top tier Premier League club such as Man City or Man Utd as you’re going to be competing with some of the best players in the world to make the first team.
Instead, play it safe until your player rating is eight or above, and elect to play for a smaller team in the bottom half of the league.
17. Build a powerful FUT squad with lower tiers.
Fifa 17’s take on FUT is easily the most addictive version yet, but the age old problem of wanting to fill your squad with the best players in the world but not having the coins to blow on them still vexes. Thing is, like any system, there are way to play it to your advantage by investing in better players stuck in lower tiers.
So rather than chasing Messi or Ronaldo, drop down a tier and collect together players with OVR between 78 and 85. Also, look out for youngsters and wonder kids to raise the potential of your team without spending big.
18. Don’t rely on sprint all the time.
This really is Fifa 101, but for new and fair weather players simply getting one touch of the ball and flying down the pitch with spring held down doesn’t equal goals and gold star performances. Almost all the best players, including those making a living for themselves in eSports, say to avoid sprint unless you really need it.
Apart from fatiguing players unnecessarily, sprint simply becomes a wasted resource. Instead, dribble the ball at a normal speed and get used to movement of the ball. Rely on sprint purely for extending a break or outpacing a defender in the build-up to a goal.
19. Use the keeper as a gamemaker.
For years, the role of a game changer has often fallen to positions that can make greater waves on the field - be it a holding midfielder or an aggressive forward. But for Fifa 17, EA Canada has finally tweaked its setup to include the humble goalkeeper in the action.
Now you can use the keeper to initiate a potential counter attack or break by pressing R1/RB to initiate a driven throw or kick. These are faster moves, and if used right, you can catch your opponent on the back foot and chase a quick, tasty goal.
20. Master the new world of corners.
You might have noticed a theme here - specifically how EA Canada has overhauled most of the core systems and mechanics of Fifa 17. Some are for the better (and some are for the worse), but one of the biggest changes is the way corners have been changed.
To get the best out of corners and the set-pieces that come from them in Fifa 17, we advise you to aim for the near or far post. Be careful not to stray too close to the line, as the keeper will simply scoop the ball automatically. This should cause chaos in the box and draw the keeper out for a powerful strike.
21. Sunday is the day for Team of the Week pickups.
One of the best things about FUT in Fifa 17 is the way the virtual economy is constantly being updated with new deals and offers - TOTW or Team Of The Week is one such feature and includes players from the world who have notched up impressive performances in the real world beautiful game.
This super team is updated every week, however, leaping in and spending your coins as soon as they’re available on a Wednesday isn’t a great idea. Instead, play the system and wait until Sunday when the cost of these cards have depreciated. Simply swoop in and nab them discounts to create an epic Fifa 17 team.
22. Practice penalties until it hurts.
Remember us alluding to certain aspects of Fifa 17 that have been changed for the worse? Well, one of those woeful updates is the new penalty system. It’s unintuitive and frankly a step down from Fifa 16’s well established system, but that doesn’t mean you can’t master this unruly beast.
First up, be aware of your starting position - try a longer run up for some serious power. Try speeding up mid run by holding R2/RT or slowing down by holding L2/LT. We found stuttering (tapping L2/LT just before striking the ball) is a great way to fake out the keeper and score.
23. Free kicks deserve plenty of practice, too.
Considering many of the principles of a penalty kick feed directly into the world of free kicks, it’s no big shock to learn this mechanic has also been tweaked and changed for Fifa 17. So that means practice. Lots and lots of practice.
For a start, be aware of which player you’re using. Certain attributes affect everything from power to curve of the ball, so don’t try and curl the ball with a low curve rating (bring up your player’s stats at any time by holding R2/RT). Also be aware of where your player is positioned as this can be key to completely bypassing the wall for a cheeky corner goal.

General Tips and Tricks.
Some players may bypass this, but Manager Tasks could serve as a very good tutorial to show everybody the ropes in the game. This teaches the players on organizing the team, transfers and the more important features of player chemistry.
Squad Building Challenges.
If cheating isn't part of the plan, earning coins is a bit of a chore in "FIFA 17." Not that hard, but it isn't easy either. The Squad Building Challenges lets players go over trading cards for rewards. Rewards vary from better cards or even better, coins.
A big factor on how the entire team will fare in a match is the Player Chemistry. From the word itself, it talks about how well the players play with each other within a team.
There are many explanations online and in the game on how this works, but in simpler terms, there are only two important attributes that players need to focus with regards to Player Chemistry.
These are "Team Chemistry" and "Player Chemistry."
Based from Gamingbolt's formula as well as in the in-game explanation, the formula is as follows:
(Team Chemistry*.25) + ((Player Chemistry*10)*.75)
If the result is higher than 50, this means that attributes of the team will increase. If it goes lower than 50, the stats decrease instead. Getting a 50 yields no results.

Xbox one fifa 17 tricks
Best cheap players in Career mode.
The following is a list of some of the best young players in Career mode that have a lot of potential to grow and are very cheap. Note: Some of these players may not be available. Thus, make sure to keep an eye out for them and try to get them as soon as possible.

7 must-read FIFA 17 tips and tricks – directly from the developers at EA Sports.
Ben Wilson travelled to developer EA Canada to get the inside scoop on what’s changed this year – and these seven essential tips will ensure you score an immediate advantage over all your mates…
My favourite technique is sprinting, even though there’s more chance to miss!”

FIFA 17 review: Tips, tricks and what's new with Ultimate Team and career mode.
FIFA 17 has released on Xbox One and PS4, we've managed to hands on and check out the latest player ratings.
11:14, 3 OCT 2016 Updated 11:15, 3 OCT 2016.
FIFA 17 has been tinkered with and tweaked for 12 months - but what has changed and how will it impact your playing style?
While the full game installs (on PS4), you're treated to playing out a heated FA Cup final between Man Utd and Chelsea where a fresh-faced Mourinho and an eager Conte do battle on the touchline.
That's right, you can now watch the gaffers whine, moan and complain on the sidelines.
So one of my first objectives was to rush to the bench and do a two-footed tackle on Jose (who wouldn't?) he staggered back but sadly the game's physics don't allow you to injure managers.
If you're really interested, I was playing as Chelsea and lost on penalties.
The first thing you'll notice is that the AI has been given a much-needed upgrade in Fifa 17 .
Passing is much more crisp and direct but the game's engine allows for an increasingly fluid possession style, where your newly intelligent players make creative off-the-ball runs.
Now when you're charging on a counter attack, your strikers will drift out wide, or the wingers will cut inside, opening up space on the flanks.
I found it was often too easy on the lower difficulties to carve up your opposition by keeping an eye on the off-the-ball runs of your forward men.
The most effective way to do this was by playing three up-front and using one of the wide men as a decoy runner.
Each player's touch seems to have improved as has their ability to use their body to fully shield the ball while moving - something you were never allowed to do previously.
By far the biggest improvement in gameplay is the ability to manually cross the ball from corners and set pieces.
You now use a yellow target to pinpoint the ball in the box and can add spin and power to the ball while controlling runs for the perfect cross.
It's a difficult system to master at first, but again it feels much more fluid and realistic than FIFA 16.
After hoofing the ball into Row Zed several times - I managed to get to grips with a basic technique that ensures you win the ball more often than not, which you can see below.
Ultimate Team.
You'll be glad to know that players who enjoyed last year's Ultimate Team and career modes are given small rewards for their hard work in the shape of extra packs.
I won't spoil who I managed to get in my first two gold packs (clue:not Messi or Ronaldo) but you can check it out in the video above.
There's also now themed 'squad challenges' where you can earn in-game rewards such as coins or packs.
Most of these revolve around building teams based on criteria such as nationality or league.
Another addition is FUT Champions, there's now a weekend league which promises huge rewards and a monthly leaderboard.
Career mode.
You're instantly given the option of picking the Manager Career mode or Player Career, which is dimilar to the old "Be a Pro", only now you can retire and become a manager when your legs give in.
Players who progressed in FIFA 16's career mode can choose from several perks including Rematch Ability, Edit Player Fuctionality, 60% Increase to Transfer Budget or an extra Top Global Scout for your first season.
Once you've picked the appearance of your player/manager you're ready to go.
The manager mode has been streamlined and you're now graded on a "popularity rating" having to meet targets including Brand Exposure and Youth Development to keep the board happy.
By far the easiest way to master career mode is to pick a team with the highest transfer budget but these come with the highest targets and the hardest boards to please to boost your popularity rating.
I tried my hand at both Man City and Chelsea on World Class difficulty, and was axed from both less than two full seasons in.
The following are your starting transfer budgets for the top Premier League teams before the game's release:
Crystal Palace £31m.
Although FIFA 17 is not a complete revamp, simple changes have improved the game significantly so it feels like a much more polished version of last year's effort.
It's no exaggeration to say that it could be the best sports game ever, the only question is - how are they going to improve on it for next year?
