Minecraft: Xbox One Edition was the Xbox One edition of Minecraft Legacy Console Edition developed by 4J Studios [12] before the Better Together Update. An announcement trailer was shown during Microsoft's press conference at E3 2013. [13] This edition built off the Xbox 360 Edition . [1] On May 22, 2014, Mojang confirmed that the game would be released in August 2014. On August 29, 4J Studios tweeted that the game had been handed over to Xbox for final testing. Minecraft: Xbox One Edition was officially released on September 5, 2014. When the Better Together Update was released on September 20, 2017 , the Xbox One Edition was made unavailable for digital purchase on the Xbox Store, but DLC is still available. You can still, however, buy a retail version of the game. Bedrock Edition is a free download for all digital owners of Xbox One Edition . Owners of the disc version who bought DLC from the digital store, or played at least five hours between September 20, 2016 and January 30, 2018, also received it for free. Xbox One Edition is a separate game from Bedrock Edition and is still playable for anyone who owns it. DLC for Xbox One Edition can still be purchased, and most of it will carry over to Bedrock Edition. When selecting a world in Bedrock Edition, any world from Xbox One Edition can be imported. Initially, Xbox One Edition was planned to no longer receive updates, starting with the lack of an equivalent update to TU58, but the edition later received CU50, an update adding the MINECON Earth Skin Pack, and later updates resumed entirely with CU51, an update equivalent to TU60 which also added all the features from TU58. Compared to Xbox 360 Edition , Xbox One Edition included larger world sizes up to 5120x5120 blocks (36 times larger), 18 chunk render distance, amplified worlds, and enhancements offered by the Xbox One. [1] Despite it being very similar to Bedrock Edition , Xbox One Edition still has all of the Legacy Console Edition exclusive features, with the most notable being the built-in mini games. Because of licensing restrictions, some of the Xbox One Edition DLC is unavailable in Bedrock Edition, and some of it is not on the Marketplace and can only be obtained if it was bought for the Xbox One Edition . For Xbox 360 Edition players who wish to transfer worlds, it is preferable to buy the disc version of Xbox One Edition instead of buying the new Bedrock Edition, and do so before January 30, 2018. With no current method of transferring worlds directly from the Xbox 360 Edition to Bedrock Edition for Xbox One, the only way is to import the Xbox 360 world in Xbox One Edition and then import the Xbox One world in Bedrock Edition after getting it from playing the Xbox One Edition for five hours. It is unknown what will happen to the transfer functionality after the Xbox 360 Edition is updated with new content that does not exist in the Xbox One Edition . The following DLC is only usable in Xbox One Edition and does not carry over to Bedrock Edition, either because of licensing restrictions or because they are for the Mini Games: First Birthday Skin Pack Second Birthday Skin Pack Third Birthday Skin Pack Fourth Birthday Skin Pack Fifth Birthday Skin Pack Battle Map Pack 1 Battle Map Pack 2 Battle Map Pack 3 Battle Map Pack 4 Halloween Battle Map Festive Battle Map Fallout Battle Map Pack Glide Beasts Track Pack Glide Giants Track Pack Glide Myths Track Pack. Mass Effect Mash-Up Pack, Doctor Who Skins Volumes I and II, and Skin Packs 1-6 are also currently not included in Bedrock Edition, but Mojang stated in the Bedrock 1.2 patch notes that they are working on getting the license to add them. If the Minecon 2015 Skin Pack was purchased during the limited time it was available, it transfers to Bedrock Edition and is usable in multiplayer. The Simpsons Skin Pack, as well as the Marvel skin packs, also transfer, but are not usable in multiplayer. In default settings, the controls are always displayed on the HUD. Minecraft: Xbox One Edition Holiday Pack was released on November 24, 2015 with seven "fan-favorite" DLC included. This edition contains all of the same features of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition along with the DLC bundled in. This bundle is meant to celebrate the Christmas holidays and costs US$29.99. [16] [17] The following DLC is included in Xbox One Edition Holiday Pack : [16] [17] The Minecraft Marvel Skin Packs Bundle was released on November 30, 2015 and contains all of the Marvel Skin Packs: The bundle was meant to be a discount for the Marvel Skin Packs. On December 22, 2015 the bundle was removed from the Xbox Marketplace, thus being no longer available for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360. This bundle costed $6.99 and was available in the Xbox One and the Xbox 360. [18] [19] The Marvel Skin Packs from the bundle still transfer to Bedrock Edition, but they are not usable in online or LAN multiplayer. ↑ abcdXbox, "Minecraft: Xbox One Edition Announce Trailer", YouTube , 2013-06-10. ↑Edwin Evans-Thirlwell, "Minecraft Xbox 360: the five greatest technical challenges". Official Minecraft PS4 vs PS3 and Xbox One vs Xbox 360 Screenshot Comparison. Minecraft is one of the most successful and prosperous games ever developed. The game can undoubtedly be recognized as the modern day substitution of Nintendo’s good old Mario of the 90’s. The game gained colossal fame on its original platform: PC, it was then developed and released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The next-gen versions of Minecraft are still in development, and below is the screenshot comparison showing how well the development work is proceeding. 4J Studios Officially Compares Next-gen Versions of Minecraft to the Last-Gen Versions. As of what we pick up from the frequent tweets by 4J Studios, it looks like the developer is working persistently to create the best Minecraft game for both latest PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, and soon the players will get to play with the next-gen versions of the worldwide critically acclaimed sandbox world-builder indie video game. 4J Studios tweeted four new screenshots recently, each from PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the game. The comparison screenshots show how well the next-gen versions of the game are turning out as well as how Minecraft PS4 and Xbox One versions look compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Below is the official Minecraft PS4 vs PS3 and Xbox One vs Xbox 360 screenshot comparisons. Each comparison pair is followed by a gif (courtesy of Kotaku) so that you can spot the differences clearly. Of course, you will have to open the gif’s in new tab to get them working. Minecraft Xbox One vs Xbox 360. According to 4J Studios, the world size of Minecraft PS4 and Xbox One is going to be 36 times the in-game world area of Minecraft PS3 and Xbox 360. Already released on many gaming platforms including PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Minecraft will next hit PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Xbox One. The release date of the game on these platforms has not yet officially been confirmed. Best Minecraft Xbox One Seeds. Here are some of the best seeds for Minecraft on the Xbox One with temples, villages, and more. [ Updated: January, 2017 — Added new Minecraft seeds for the latest update. ] No different from its last-gen versions, Minecraft’s world generation is randomly generated based on “seeds”. It’s an almost limitless game world based on intricate algorithms. By default, the game grabs the current system time as the basic input for the starting values of a world and runs with that. However those seeds can be influenced, they can be copied and pasted into Minecraft’s underlying code, and thus renders the players able to go and recreate worlds. Minecraft forums, wikis and communities out on the web have started collecting some of the best and most interesting seeds that the game has to offer on the Xbox One. We’ve decided to collect some of the seeds and present them to you so you can use them to create a stunning world in Minecraft, should you choose. The following selection of seeds is just a small sample of the countless worlds that the game can create on Minecraft for the Xbox One. With over 380 trillion unique and different worlds, the possibilities are endless. That’s a long trip from spawn, but still a worthwhile landmark. Set the map size to Classic to enjoy a village at spawn, along with five more nearby villages in the area. Just a simple seed with everything a console MC player will need to get started safely. Easy access to a river next to the village and a desert biome, so there should be plenty of sugarcane to cultivate. CU33 Seeds. Enjoy Ice Spikes at Spawn, three nearby villages, two clean monuments, and a nearby desert temple. The Ice Spikes biome also has an igloo — and digging down at the desert temple, you’re bound to find fossils. This seed offers an island perfect for any survival mode playthrough. There’s lots of trees and even a village near the spawn point. This seed will spawn you directly within a village. There are four nearby farms with wheat, carrots, potatoes and beetroot. Cows, trees, sheep, chickens, reeds and squid can also be found nearby for quick harvesting. Villagers can be found within a few hundred yards. This seed contains an acasia village and four desert temples. When you spawn, dig straight down and you’ll eventually arrive in a hollow cave. Keep digging until you find yet another cave beneath the earth. Don’t dig down any further. Instead, explore the cave and you’ll find redstone, lapis lazuli and iron ore. There are exposed diamonds within, as well. CU32 Seeds. This seed offers lots of land for building larger structures into and around its environment. It features a lot of mountains with flat tops and flatlands in general. The seed also contains many islands that are interconnected as well as individual islands set farther apart. The stronghold near the spawn contains a lot of mineshafts, ravines, and even a few villages. This seed contains very large biomes, an underwater stronghold and even a flooded village. You’ll want to move around quite a bit on this world because everything’s spread out. It’s a fantastic seed if you’re looking for a challenge. Best Minecraft Seed Ever. Like the name suggests, this seed features a beautiful view on top of mountains near the spawn and you have plenty of resources to pick from. The biomes nearby include desert, jungle, and plenty of lots of trees. There’s even a swamp. CU23 Seeds. This seed will spawn you on a tiny island. Walk around the edge of the island and wait for the chunks to load. Once they do, you’ll notice the monument—it should be on the opposite end of wherever the sugar cane growth happens to be. Here’s a particularly odd seed, in that it has a bunch of different biomes grouped closely together and a snow biome surrounding a jungle biome. There’s also an almost perfectly shaped hole that resembles a crater, and villagers who live inside of caves. Expect random holes in the ground and a lot of animal spawns. This seed contains a village with a blacksmith close to the spawn. There are four other nearby villages to visit. A great seed with a village and water temple close to the spawn. Locations are as follows: CU20 Seeds. This seed starts with only a single village and a blacksmith at the spawn area, but is surrounded by forest biomes. Taiga, mega, roofed forest and birch are all present. The blacksmith is located by an incredible plateau. This seed is surrounded by savanna, roofed forest, and birch forest biomes. It contains three villages and 3 blacksmiths at the starting spawn. A rather watery biome, the spawn offers two ocean monuments and is littered with islands. Fancy a trek into a jungle temple? Then this seed is for you. The spawn offers a jungle plains hybrid biome with 2 villages, where you can find a blacksmith, church, and libraries. There’s a lot of savanna, roofed forest, and taiga. This watery world has two islands at its spawn. On the eastern island, you’ll find a combination of mesa and mooshroom biome. The other island is full of taiga, including mega, and some cold plains. A more terrestrial seed than most of the others on this list, players can find large landmasses separated by rivers and rolling hills. There lies an ocean with a monument towards the northeastern direction from the spawn, and a witch’s hut by the northwest. CU15 Seeds. For all the newly added seeds on this list, we recommend starting the world size in Classic. This seed has been around since TU19, but like many other seeds on this list, it works on the latest version of the game. There are villages, temples, witch huts, dungeons, and a ton of diamonds on this one (source: MinecraftForums) . An interesting map if you’re playing in Survival mode. This seed spawns the player in a location with 4 villages, a desert and jungle temple, a witch hut, a stronghold library, and endroom. Single-Player, Multiplayer (up to 4 players local, 8 players online) Picture from announcement trailer. The Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is a console version of Minecraft developed by Mojang and 4J Studios , and it was published by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox One. [1] The game was announced during Microsoft's E3 conference in June, 2013 and was released on September 5, 2014 for a price of $19.99 for the basic version or $4.99 as a discounted price for owners of the Xbox 360 version. [2] Technical Features and Game Modes. Minecraft Xbox One Edition - Review (First Look) The Minecraft: Xbox One Edition runs at a native resolution of 1080p at 60 fps. The game's world size is 5 by 5 map-surface areas grid giving it a 25 map world in total. Each map has an approximate surface area of 1023x1023 blocks, unlike the Xbox 360 version of the game which only has 864x864 blocks. Minecraft: Xbox One Edition supports up to 4 players in splitscreen local multiplayer and up to 8 players in online multiplayer. [1] In order to play online multiplayer, a paid subscription to Xbox Live is required. Online multiplayer supports voice chat during game play. The Minecraft: Xbox One Edition game also has a save feature that continually saves the game without asking for permission to save the game, even when quitting the game. People who own the Xbox 360 Edition of Minecraft can transfer and use their save files on the Xbox One version of the game by uploading their saved files to the cloud on the Xbox 360 and re-download them on their Xbox One. [3] The Minecraft: Xbox One Edition currently is at version CU23 which was released on April 19, 2016. [4] As with the rest of the console versions, the game has three game modes (creative, survival, and adventure), and the tutorial world featured on its current version CU23. The Minecraft: Xbox One Edition currently has over 25 downloadable content packs with prices ranging from $.99 for texture packs, $1.99-$2.99 for skin packs, to $2.99-$3.99 for mash-up packs. This edition also has an Xbox-exclusive Halo Mash-Pack for $3.99. Most of the downloadable content packs can be re-downloaded for free on the Xbox One if a player owns both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 versions. On November 24, 2015 Mojang released the Holiday Pack, a bundle of seven "fan-favorite" DLC at the cost of $29.99. [5] This was released to celebrate the Christmas holidays, and it contains the following DLC: ‘Minecraft’ Nintendo Switch Worlds Will Be Way Smaller Than PS4, Xbox One. 'Minecraft' on Nintendo Switch will have smaller worlds than those on PS4 or Xbox One, but resolution will stay the same across platforms. The game will offer content parity with other console versions when it releases May 11. Photo: Mojang/4J Studios. Minecraft is coming to Nintendo Switch next month, but, according to a stream recap on NeoGAF, the hybrid build of the game won’t be identical to the versions found on PS4 and Xbox One. World size will be restricted on Switch, but framerate will stay the same. As detailed in the post, worlds in Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition will be cut down to “medium size.” This classification equates to a buildable area spanning 3072x3072 blocks. On PS4 and Xbox One, the largest world size is 5120x5120 blocks. That essentially means the canvas available to Switch users will be about 40 percent smaller than the current-gen console standard. That being said, it’s 13 percent bigger than what was allocated for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. Speaking of Wii U, Microsoft and 4J are apparently working to make your Wii U creations available on Switch. Those features won’t be ready for launch, though. It was equally vaguely noted that the port’s target framerate is 60 fps, but there was no specific mention made to resolution in handheld or docked mode. Reiterating information from last week’s Nintendo Direct, Minecraft on Switch will indeed be more or less current in content to other versions of the game when it releases May 11. From what we can see, this would relate to the small collection of bug fixes addressed in January’s 1.40 console patch. Any subsequent tweaks that need to be made will arrive in updates afterward. Those involved with development have said Nintendo’s new console is “easy to work with.” With that praise in mind, the listed limitations are likely tied to hardware shortcomings rather than creative difficulty. Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition comes preloaded with six content packs including the Super Mario Mash Up DLC that was previously exclusive to Wii U. Like other versions of the game, players will be able to craft alone or in a multiplayer lobby with up to eight friends. Minecraft comes to Nintendo Switch May 11. Are you disappointed the Switch version of Minecraft will have smaller worlds than PS4 or Xbox One? Is a medium-size map good enough for your creativity? Tell us in the comments section! Minecraft Title Update Released for Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One and PS4. 4J Studios has some good news for the Minecraft fans. It seems that a new title update has been released for Minecraf: Xbox 360, Minecraft: Xbox One, Minecraft: PlayStation 3, Minecraft: PlayStation 4 and Minecraft PlayStation Vita. The new patch addresses many issues that were found by the developers or have been reported by the users. Below we’re going to tell you what’s known about the Minecraft Title Update 20 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles. First of all, we remind you that many gamers have been complaining about some bugs that have appeared in all Minecraft versions. In order to fix this issue and improve the game, the developers of Minecraft have rolled out fixes that target the specific bugs and other game issues. Unfortunately, the Minecraft PS Vita and PlayStation 4 players from North America have experienced some delays in the release of the new update. According to Inquisitr, the delay was due to Sony’s different certification process for Europe and North America. However, now everyone should be able to get the Minecraft Title Update 20, as 4J Studio has confirmed by posting on the company’s twitter account that the Minecraft bug fix update for all consoles is now available and can be downloaded by the gamers. The new title update also brought some new changes and additions, which include a rare probability of spawning Wither Skeletons or Skeletons in the nether, changes to horse and animal de-spawning, tweaks in Minecraft riding behavior and fixes regarding Redstone issues. Here is a short list of what the Minecraft Title Update 20 comes with: – Stonebrick stairs recipe has been fixed; – A crash that was happening when breaking an Item Frame that contained a map has been fixed; – An issue that allowed the player to stay alive with zero hearts in their Healthbar has been fixed; – An issue where animals don’t stop running after being hit has been fixed; – A bug that was causing the TNT cart to explode even if “TNT Explodes” option is turned off has been fixed. In addition, the Minecraft: Xbox One edition has received some fixes. A bug that was causing the “Return To Sender” achievement to not be completed after fulfilling its requirements has been fixed. There are also improvements to the game’s performance, especially when moving through large jungle biomes. Minecraft Forums. This thread was automatically marked as Locked. The final Minecraft: Console Edition update of the year is also its largest. The Holiday Update will land in late December, bringing the Elytra (wings that allow players to glide), Amplified Terrain, End Cities, the Dragon's Breath potion ingredient and more features to PlayStation 4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Vita and Wii U. This means that the console versions will be nearly on par with the PC edition, Microsoft promises. The Holiday Update polishes the UI and includes new mobs, items, blocks and status effects. Players will find the Elytra in The End, Minecraft 's third and final dimension. The End itself will be updated with End Cities, End Ships, Chorus Plants, Chorus Flowers and Purpur blocks, among other features. There are also new enemies, including Shulkers, which hide near Purpur blocks and fire homing missiles at encroaching players. The Dragon's Breath ingredient allows players to create Lingering Potions -- just throw one of these suckers on the ground to leave some status effects behind for enemies or friends to find. Developer Mojang is giving players a sneak peak at the update today, meaning there will be more surprise features when it actually goes live in late December. The Holiday Update is free for anyone who owns Minecraft: Console Edition . The Windows 10 and Pocket editions of Minecraft recently saw updates that brought those versions nearly on par with the original Java version as well. Plus, Minecraft is scheduled to hit Apple TV before the end of the year. Happy holidays, indeed. Nintendo Labo hands-on: Cardboard has never been this fun. Today we’re excited to give a sneak peek into some of the long-awaited features we’ll be bringing to Minecraft: Console Editions in December. Since adding banners, beets and polar bears with our last update in October, the team has been hard at work on our biggest Minecraft console update of the year – the Holiday Update! You’ll be getting new mobs, items, blocks and status effects, in addition to UI, game and tutorial updates. Now, with any sneak peek, we aren’t revealing everything right now, but here are some of things we’re most excited to deliver to players: If you’re sick of spending all your time walking on solid ground, just equip the new Elytra, which enables players to glide through the air! You’ll find your Elytra in The End, which has been updated to include End Cities, End Ships and all the Chorus Plants, Flowers and Purpur you can handle. Don’t say we didn’t warn you if one turns out to be a Shulker. Like potions? Use Dragon’s Breath to create Lingering Potions if you want to leave some status effects on the ground for a friend or foe to happen upon. Speaking of status effects, we’re adding a couple new ones as well – Levitation and Luck. If you’re just getting started on a new world on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, you can turn on Amplified Terrain. This option makes the differences between mountains and valleys more extreme – so put that Elytra to good use! More details will be shared on the Holiday Update when it launches for free in late December across all Minecraft console platforms. In the meantime, I’ll be brushing up on my winter survival skills by tossing some snowballs in Tumble. End 2016 with the 1.0 Ender Update for Minecraft: Windows 10 and Pocket Edition. As part of our vision here at Team Minecraft to help players enjoy their favorite features on the platform of their choice, we’ve been piling on the updates to Minecraft on Windows 10 and mobile this year. In February, we had the 0.14 Overworld Update, which brought redstone and witches. In June, we had the 0.15 Friendly Update, which kept our community busy all summer playing in Realms with cross-device multiplayer via Xbox Live, riding donkeys and horsies, and making sophisticated mechanical devices with pistons. Then just a few weeks back, we released the 0.16 Boss Update to challenge our players in combat with the fearsome Elder Guardian and Wither bosses. Today, we’re super excited to let you know that we’ve started work on our next update which will be coming before the end of the year – the 1.0 Ender Update. With this update, Minecraft on Windows 10 and Pocket Edition will have the majority of the features as our original PC version, and like we did with the original PC version, we’ll be taking off the beta label with the introduction of the End. Legit! The 1.0 Ender Update will add a third dimension to Minecraft – the End, and its iconic ultimate boss battle, the Ender Dragon. But that’s not all – after defeating the Ender Dragon, you’ll be able to explore the outer islands of the End and its mysterious End Cities. In these End Cities you can encounter the new Shulker mob, pick up cool purple blocks for building (aptly called purpur), farm chorus plants, and even loot the highly coveted Elytra glider from an End ship. Another super exciting feature that we’re sure you will be happy about is 256-block world height. Previously, players of Minecraft on Windows 10 and Pocket Edition were limited to a 128-block high ceiling. With the 1.0 Ender Update, we’re doubling the height to which you can build in your worlds! Perfect timing to let you build a super high tower and glide down across the world with your awesome new Elytra. There are other features we are planning on bringing to the Ender Update as well, but we’re keeping those a secret for now! In the meantime, we’d love for you to check out the 1.0 Ender Update via Android beta, help us test it out and let us know what you think before its official release on our feedback site. More info on how to participate in the beta and play the update now can be found at the Mojang blog. Xbox One UK. Xbox One and Xbox One X News, Game and Hardware Reviews and Competitions. Posted on Dec 6, 2016 by Owen Jones. This blog is no longer the go-to place for official Minecraft news! From now on we’ll be posting snapshots, updates, and lots, lots more on Minecraft.net. Minecraft.net! Bookmark it! Make it your homepage! Why have we done this? Learn that and more on Minecraft.net! Note: we’ll still use this blog for any Mojang news that’s not relevant to Minecraft. There’s not a lot of that about right now but thought it was worth mentioning. Fight in a fort or toss a tuber. Posted on Dec 2, 2016 by Marc Watson. Ah, Friday. For many, this signals the start of two free days to kick back and play their favorite games. To help you out with that, we’ve put some new maps on Minecraft Realms for PC, and have brought back some old favorites as well. Whether you’d like to quietly admire new builds by yourself, or frenetically compete with a group of friends, we’ve got something for everyone! Hot Potato by Team Cryus. Gather your friends and grab a potato! Hot Potato is the kind of sport where you don’t want to be left holding the ball. Keep your eyes peeled for any agitators rushing you with a spud, and if you get hit, mash your mouse until you pass it off to someone else. These are exploding tubers, so toss them before they detonate! Vaslen by Excessed. If you’d like to start a new survival game, but don’t want to stress over building up your farms, fire up this world template. In Vaslen, you’ll find a green mesa and five cozy shacks. Just be careful, this map starts at night! Fort Craft by goCreative. Zombies gather to attack, beginning their approach to your fort. The narrow canyon walls make it difficult for the creatures to move in groups, and from your perch in the guard tower, you line up the perfect shot. With a quiver of arrows and a bit of luck, the sun will be up before the monsters reach you. Other additions. We have another round of 1.11 compatibility updates for you! If you haven’t played these before, give them a try. This week, the following maps make their return to Realms: We also have a special mention, for anyone that didn’t catch the Light Your Way Home blog post. The map, aptly titled Light Your Way Home, is part of the #MinecraftIRL campaign, designed to blur the lines between the real world and the crafted world. You can grab this map on Realms, under the adventure map category. Winter is… on the way. Our next Realms content update, appropriately winter and/or holiday themed, is on December 16th! Make sure that you check in on that day for another blog post filled with all of the details. If you’re curious about how to get your own creations on Minecraft Realms, check out our updated guidelines over at /r/Realms. That’s all for now! See you next time! Pocket Edition is 5 years old! Have a trailer for 1.0! Posted on Dec 1, 2016 by Marsh Davies. What a long way we’ve come! At its inception, Pocket Edition was little more than an experiment by mega-brained Mojang coder, Aron Nieminen. It was pretty bare bones - just the most minimal Minecrafty features in mobile form, hammered together in a mere three months. As Aron says: “It wasn’t even supposed to have multiplayer at first, and the first internal version only had an ASCII renderer!” It’s since grown into one of our most popular versions of Minecraft, with over 40 million players, who are now able to enjoy the rich features of redstone, join each other on Realms, and across platforms, race each other on pigback, wail on witches and - with the upcoming Ender Update - battle the ultimate boss: The Ender Dragon. Share your real-life Minecraft moments! Posted on Nov 23, 2016 by Owen Jones. Minecraft can be a funny old game. Over the years, crafters have uncovered a wealth of secrets, and developed a bunch of unique ways to play. Dirt block towers, pigs with saddles, chests packed with mushroom stew - over time, these things have become almost… normal. Go googly-eyed! Cartoon textures on Pocket / Win 10! Posted on Nov 22, 2016 by Marsh Davies. Turn your world into a toon with the latest texture pack to arrive on Pocket and Windows 10 Edition! Give your pigs a higher derp factor - and resolution to boot. Reshape villagers’ noses! Make sheep look startled! On consoles this holiday: Elytra, End Cities & more. Posted on Nov 22, 2016 by Marsh Davies. We’ve prepared a rather spectacular seasonal gift for Console Edition. As is traditional, you’ll have to wait until late December to open up the full package, but we’re happy to give you a teeny preview today - the digital equivalent of letting you sneak downstairs and give your gift-wrapped goodies a little inquisitive shake. Bop a buddy or journey through jungles. Posted on Nov 18, 2016 by Marc Watson. Welcome back, Minecrafters, to another Friday of PC Realms maps! Based on last week’s numbers, loads of you went nuts for A Giant Quest! We had fun stomping around and staring down the dragon as well. Let’s get into this week’s maps! Makers Punch by MineMakers Team. Makers Punch was a natural choice for inclusion on Realms. It was a fun and error-free minigame from the start, and it reminded us of the fan favorite, Knockback Madness, seasoned with design elements from MineMakers Team’s Makers Spleef. The goal of knocking your enemies flying off the platform is simple, but learning the jumps and items will give you an advantage as you and your friends play this game over and over. Got time to spare? Try our Hour of Code 2016 Edition! Posted on Nov 15, 2016 by Owen Hill. What could you learn in one hour? A little maths? A smattering of English? Some “science”? Nothing of significance, basically. That’s why you should be delighted that we’ve created a second Hour of Code tutorial, designed to teach you the basics of coding in a mere 60 minutes. We introduce concepts of game design and computer science in easy-to-understand steps before giving insight into mob behavior and more. Of course, to be a master coder like Jens takes more than an hour’s training, but this is a great place to start. Last year’s hour of code has been played over 31 million times, making it the most popular on the Code.org platform. Despite that, we’ve rebuilt the thing so it’s even better than last year’s. Both the 2015 and 2016 tutorials are now available at code.org/minecraft so head over and give them a try. Oh, and if you’re still not convinced, watch the chirpy video below. Thanks for reading, everyone! Enjoy your hour of code! Seek out the Exploration Update: 1.11 on PC / Mac now! Posted on Nov 14, 2016 by Marsh Davies. Treasure hunters, rejoice! Update 1.11, aka the Exploration Update, has now made the treacherous journey from snapshot to full release. Our intrepid developers have scaled mighty crags of code, ventured into untamed pre-release territory and battled bugs to bring you wondrous gaming goodies! If you haven’t got Minecraft for PC / Mac yet: you can buy it here! It’s fun and gets loads of massive, free updates like this one. Pocket and Win 10 getting 1.0 - The Ender Update soon! Posted on Nov 11, 2016 by Owen Jones. There comes a time in every Minecraft edition’s life when they evolve from being a mere percentage into a fully fledged number. For Pocket Edition and Windows 10 that time is almost here. 1.0 - The Ender Update is coming! We didn’t pick that number for the lols. Our next update is packed with features but most significant is probably The End and its iconic inhabitant - The Ender Dragon. Though you can carry on playing after defeating the misunderstood beast, for many, taking it down is the ultimate goal in Minecraft. Something to aim for and achieve after hours of play. A tangible end-game for Survival players. Gaming Sizzles with Minecraft Xbox One Update 18.8. Minecraft is undeniably one of the most popular video games today. When the Minecraft Xbox One Edition came out in September 2014, fans were overwhelmed. The Xbox One had 36 times larger worlds, greater render distance, and precious game enhancements that only Xbox can offer. A little over a year later, Minecraft developer Mojang made another equally exciting announcement – an update for its Xbox One Edition, which makes it more similar to PC gaming. New Items, New Blocks, New Mobs. First off, the update is free. And with this free upgrade comes a truckload of other free goodies, as well. New Items – Coming our way are a list of fresh, new items that make Minecraft even more engaging. There’s the Cooked Rabbit, Raw Rabbit, Rabbit’s Food, Rabbit Hide, and Rabbit Stew. There’s also the Raw Mutton and Cooked Mutton, along with Salmon, Cooked Salmon, Clownfish, and Pufferfish. Then there’s Armour Stand, Potion of Leaping, and Potion of Water. Then there are various items designed after plants and flowers such as Blue Orchid, Double Tall Grass, Large Ferns, Lilac, Oxeye Daisy, Poppy, Rose Bush, Peony, Sunflower, and Tulips. Also, there’s Prismarine and Prismarine Crystals to be had. New Blocks – Available in game are new blocks including Acacia Saplings, Andesite, Chiseled Red Sandstone, Coarse Dirt, Dark Oak Saplings, Diorite, Granite, Red Sand, Red Sandstone, Sea Lanterns, Slime Blocks, and Wet Sponge, among other things. New Mobs – The addition of more mobs makes for a more thrilling game. Install the update and see which mob type the Chicken Jockey, Elder Guardian, Endermite, Guardian, and Rabbit belong to. Apart from new entities, the upgrade also launches new biomes such as Birch Forest, Deep Ocean, Extreme Hills+, Mega Taiga, Mesa, Roofed Forest, Savanna, and Snowless Taiga, among others. Explore these biomes when you play with an updated Minecraft Xbox One Edition. More Features Await Minecraft Xbox One Edition Players. Go fishing and find not just a fish, but treasures of different kinds. Travel through any rectangles as they’ve become Nether Portals accessible to mobs and ghasts alike. Feeling cold? Light up Empty Furnaces by adding fuel. And if you don’t like fire, put it out by using the water in Cauldrons. Don’t be so confident with drowning a Witch because they can drink a Potion of Water Breathing. This same potion is up for the taking when a Witch drops it after it dies. And of course, there’s the snowy feature on top of Extreme Hills Biomes, making them snow capped mountains of the Alps. These are just a glimpse of the exciting new features of the Minecraft Xbox One Edition Update 18.8. Update 18.8 is exclusive to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One (for now). That’s right. Wii U Edition doesn’t have the update yet, so Xboxers and PS Sonyers out there, you are one step ahead of Wii gamers. Although Wii U Edition will have its turn this year, 2016, making the new Minecraft update not as exclusive anymore. Mojang is pretty busy lately. It announced in July the development of Minecraft for PC, and simultaneously worked on the release of an update for home consoles, as well as for portable video games. Minecraft is on its way to becoming a modern, dynamic video game optimized across various platforms. Way to go Mojang!
