At the starting area there will be a group of goons who will respawn. Defeat them repeatedly and earn millions of studs fast. Also can work in any area where enemies spawn at a constant rate. EditHire a Hero Glitch. Want to use a hero for more than 30 seconds? It takes a little bit of prepwork, but you most certainly can! Just find a spot nearby the area you wish to hire a hero where you need to hire a different hero, hire that hero first, and then before that hero's time limit runs out, switch to a different character and hire the one you want. The timer on the second character will run out, but you'll still be able to use them afterwards! It's a very helpful glitch indeed. Entering the build menu will also allow you to cheat their vehicle onto one of your vehicle bases if you wish. Pause the game, select the "Extras" option, and choose the "Input Code" selection. Then, enter one of the following codes to activate the corresponding cheat function: x2 stud multiplier location. Go to The Lord Of The Rings World from Vorton World. Once you spawn, go down the stairs, turn left, and get in the Batmobile. Then, chase the blue Lego drone with the green shield around it, near the Batmobile, that is carrying the Red Brick. Run into it to get the Dwarf's Bounty x2 stud multiplier. Next, go back to Vorton World to buy it at the unlock portal for 1 million studs. Go to the main area inside Arkham Asylum in DC Comics World. Use a vehicle with a stud collector to defeat all enemies. If you are quick enough, you can get approximately 2 million studs per minute using this trick with the x2 stud multiplier. Go to DC Comics World - Arkham Asylum. Repair the Jukebox, then turn it on. The goons in the area will start dancing. Keep shooting them and collect the studs. They keep respawning so you can just keep shooting and collecting. It works better and is much quicker using the x2 stud multiplier, Batmobile's Collect Studs ability (Level 2), and Stud Magnet ability (Level 3). You can get millions of studs in minutes using this trick. At the start of the Wizard Of Oz level in the campaign, immediately turn around and destroy the silver bricks to access a hidden area. This small hidden area contains approximately 150,000 studs (or 300,000 if using the x2 stud multiplier) that are very easy to collect. Make sure to run along the main wall at the entrance. There is a whole row of studs hidden from view. Also, swim underneath the bridge for an easy 30,000 studs. This area only takes about five minutes to clear. Then, quit the level, return, and repeat the process as many times as desired. Go to The Lord Of The Rings World from Vorton World. Repair the Mill in Hobbiton and the Farm area near Rivendell. Then, use Wonder Woman (or any flying character or ship) to fly between the mill and farm, breaking the colored bricks (three in each area). If timed correctly, you can get it to land on purple, which gives 50,000 studs. You can do this by running with a character, but it takes a long time and is much quicker to use a flying character or ship to go back and forth. The colored bricks respawn every time you exit the area. Thus, you can go back and forth between the two area and have an infinite loop of studs available. Repeat this as many times as desired. You can use this trick to fully upgrade everything. It is recommended to first collect, buy, and activate the Dwarf's Bounty x2 stud multiplier before doing this so you get twice the number of studs; the purple stud will then be worth 100,000 studs. Go to DC Comics World from Vorton World. Once you spawn, get in the Batmobile, and drive over the ramp with the two blinking red arrows to reach Wayne Tower. Keep driving to the left to reach Gotham Cathedral. Hit all the cars in the parking lot at Gotham Cathedral and area that area to get over 50,000 studs in approximately two minutes. Then, pause the game, and select the "Quit to Vorton" option. Return to DC Comics World, and repeat this process as many times as desired. You will get a lot more studs using this trick with the stud multipliers. All Red Brick locations. Search the indicated locations to find all Red Bricks, which are held by a robot/drone that you must hit (vehicle recommended) in the listed world to collect. There came a moment when Marty McFly, Chell from Portal, and The Wicked Witch of the West were all fighting a giant robotic Joker atop a building in Springfield when I stopped and wondered just what the heck was going on. But then again, I was having a complete blast watching it all happen. LEGO Dimensions is developer Traveler’s Tales first foray into the toys-to-life genre, which is a natural fit for its virtual versions of physical LEGO. While the gameplay itself is still relatively simplistic, the personality that runs through each and every world is the reason to stick around. This is the kitchen sink approach: throughout the 10-hour campaign, you’ll bounce from the settings of classic movies like Back to the Future and beloved comics like Batman to amazing games like Portal. Like in the charming LEGO Movie, these collisions are fun, creative, and rife with hilarious, idiosyncratic interactions. Small moments, like how Homer Simpson is so very confused at the fact that Scooby-Doo is a talking dog, are Dimensions’ greatest strength. With the starter pack, you’ll get to play through the entire campaign with Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle from The LEGO Movie. While there’s a satisfying amount of game there, you’ll need to opt in and buy the additional sets in order to unlock some of the best open-world side areas. Wandering around a fully realized Springfield complete with dozens of hilarious nods to the show, or going through Aperture Science with the original voice actors and some really great, actually Valve-esque puzzles is a treat, but not mandatory. The love and care given to packing those worlds with cute, clever nods -- falling off the map in Oz drops you down into a sepia-colored version of tornado-wrecked Kansas -- made exploring those spaces a joy. It’s even better when Dimensions mashes two universes together, like when Sauron from Lord of the Rings goes on a tear through Superman’s Metropolis, or when serious LEGO Batman meets the idiot Batman from The LEGO movie. Traveler’s Tales’ fantastic brand of Pixar-esque humor can make a kid laugh while simultaneously layering on more nuanced jokes aimed at adults, and it had me smiling throughout most of my time with Dimensions. A particularly great moment was when Batman travels to Oz and is convinced that the Scarecrow from the classic movie is the same Scarecrow that has terrorized Gotham City. The problem with Dimensions leaning so heavily on in-jokes from its breadth of inspirations is that if you’re not as familiar with a specific movie, show, or game, entire sections fall flat. For example, when I spent a half hour fighting through a series of Ninjago bosses, I couldn’t appreciate the humor and instead had nothing to prevent me from noticing how simplistic the combat and puzzle-solving in Dimensions really is. A solid chunk of the enjoyment directly correlates with your love of a specific movie or game and your ability to understand and appreciate deep-cut references. What you’re actually doing moment-to-moment will feel incredibly familiar to anybody who’s played any of the past dozen or so LEGO games – which isn’t bad, but has worn a bit thin over the years. You destroy everything in sight, build a whole bunch of crazy structures, and collect millions of bolts that act as currency. The big change with Dimensions, though, is the physicality introduced through the toys and the portal that you connect to your console. Any LEGO Dimensions character or object you place on one of the portal’s seven positions is transported into the game world. Note: It’s actually just the disc on the bottom that matters (which is a little scary because of how easy it’d be for a kid to lose it). The characters are just regular LEGO dudes. Dimensions quickly begins throwing simple but tedious puzzles at you that require physically manipulating the toys on the portal. Bosses will trap your character in an energy field, forcing you to move that piece to another square on the board. Likewise, certain puzzles require you to place specific characters on specific spots in order to imbue them with elemental powers necessary to put out fires or charge batteries in the environment. While I really appreciate this idea in theory, it oftentimes didn’t work for me in execution. Puzzles didn’t challenge me mentally, but rather just became physical exercises in moving a toy onto a new spot of a specific color. They were never quite deep enough to deliver that “aha!” moment you get from thinking about a problem in a new way, and instead, just acted as a barrier between me and the next piece of much-appreciated humor or creativity. LEGO Dimensions’ kitchen-sink approach to packing its worlds full of great characters and fun references consistently left me with a big dumb grin on my face. While the puzzles that required physically moving the pieces became tedious, the act of exploring dozens of locations based on things I’ve adored since my childhood was genuinely entertaining. The collision of worlds is smart, the references are handled with care, and the story is genuinely smart. LEGO Dimensions’ great characters and fun references consistently left me with a big dumb grin on my face.
