This achievement requires a fast sports car, like the De'Leo Stiletto, which can be found (rare) randomly driving around in the Frisco Fields region (north-west of map). Other high-end sports cars also work, like the Samson Duke and Samson Opus, which both can be found (rare) randomly anywhere in the game. The route you want to take goes from south-west Frisco Fields over the bridge to Barclay Mills, through the tunnel and down the hill. Just follow the main road after passing the bridge. Since you will be driving downhill, you can easily keep your speed. Later in the game, you can also unlock upgrades that improve the speed of your vehicle. Thus, if you have any trouble, you can wait until later in the game. Easy "FlambГ©" achievement. A great farming spot to do this is where you encounter Molotov enemies for the first time, which is in the second story mission called "The Home Fires Burn", taking place in the Bayou. At the start of the mission, make sure you grab a weak pistol and keep it for later. After finding Baka, an enemy will throw a Molotov at you and you see a tutorial prompt on how to use Molotovs. Hide behind cover and one of the enemies on the right will always throw a Molotov at you. It usually takes him 20 seconds to throw it. He will shout "Throwing Molotov" or "Firebomb" or "Fire from the Sky" when he is about to throw it -- that is when you must shoot him with the pistol. It is important you use a low-damage pistol, otherwise your weapon might kill him. If you time it right, he will drop the molotov and burn himself. After a few missions, you will learn how to attack racket bosses and unlock their objectives on the map. To lure them out, you must complete certain objectives that are marked on the map. Each racket has two enforcers. They are marked by a skull icon on the map. For the "I'm Goin' In!" achievement, do not go to these skull icons when doing the racket objectives. Instead, you will have to do all the other objectives to cause enough havoc to the racket. Collect all the money at the objectives. Interrogate informants to find new objectives. Sometimes there are also vehicles driving around that belong to the racket -- destroying them also counts as damage. After causing enough damage, talk to your contact to get the "I'm Goin' In!" achievement (before going to the actual racket Boss fight). For the "Softened Em' Up" achievement, do the exact opposite and kill the two enforcers (marked by skull symbols on map). There are a lot of rackets in the game -- so you will have plenty of chances to get these achievements. Easy "Never Saw It Coming" achievement. A good place to kill an enemy within two seconds of kicking open a door is when you kick open your very first door in the game -- in "The Home Fires Burn" (second story mission). Keep some enemies alive before kicking open the door to the Baka mini-boss. You cannot kill Baka -- so it does not work on him. After kicking open the door, turn around and shoot one of his goons. This is best done with a rifle or shotgun. Note: There are limited opportunities to do this throughout the story. If you miss this opportunity, it is recommended you try this during a new game. Easy "New Bordeaux Drifter" achievement. Go to the following location in the open world (also shown in the video). You can go there at any time. There is a safehouse/respawn point there. A car is parked in front of the respawn point. There is a good chance it is a "Berkley Gypsy". If you get a different car, kill yourself and you will get a new one (or drive away and come back later). Drive the car up the road, and then drift through the mud on the left side of the road. To drift, hold the brake and handbrake for a short moment and pull the left stick all the way to the left/right. You must drift for 5 seconds or longer in one go to get the "New Bordeaux Drifter" achievement. Easy "Next Time Swim Faster" achievement. Alligators can be found in the rivers of the Bayou area (south of map). Just jump in the water and swim around until an alligator kills you to get the "Next Time Swim Faster" achievement. Easy "One Good Turn" achievement. It is likely you will get this achievement naturally. Get a fast car and drive along the highway. Then, pull the handbrake and steer left or right. You have to make a 180 degree or more turn. Make sure you are driving fast enough or it will not count. Easy "Recruited To 5th SFG" achievement. A great place to get five headshots in five seconds is at French Ward police station (in center-north of map). There are many cops close together. Hide behind a wall or car and throw a "Screaming Zemi" in the garage where three cops are standing. It will lure all the cops from the police station. They will all stand around the Screaming Zemi to investigate. Take out your weapon (pistols and rifles work best) and quickly shoot them in the head. If you fail, let them kill you. You will respawn in a nearby safehouse and can try again. The Screaming Zemi is unlocked after defeating the first Racket Boss, very early in the game. You can buy it at any time from the Arms Dealer (who you can call from the weapon wheel). This can be done anywhere against policemen and any enemies. After the first few story missions, you will learn how to perform brutal takedowns. At the end of a melee combo, hold B and release it at the right time. You will see a short quick time event with a button prompt. A small circle will fill up and you must release the button at the right time to perform a special type of takedown. There will also be an audio cue when you have done it correctly. Simply cause some chaos, let the police spot you, run up to them, perform three melee attacks in a row, then hold B. You must perform three of these finishers in a row, no other kills are allowed. It is recommended to bring some adrenaline shots to refill health and play on the Easy difficulty. Easy "Testing The Shock" achievement. This achievement requires a fast sports car, like the De'Leo Stiletto, which can be found (rare) randomly driving around in the Frisco Fields region (north-west of map). Other high-end sports cars also work. There is a construction site in the north-western corner of Frisco Fields (by the water). It has a large ramp made of dirt. Start driving from the end of the map to the ramp at the construction site. With enough speed, you will be able to reach 50+ meters easily. The car must land on its wheels to get the "Testing The Shock" achievement. There are many other ramps all over the map. Later in the game, you can also unlock upgrades that improve the speed of your vehicle. Thus, if you have any trouble, you can wait until later in the game. Easy "Wrecker" achievement. You can execute ten vehicle takedowns while being chased by the police. Bring a pistol with enough ammo and drive at high speeds. Then, press Y to aim at the police car's tires and shoot them when the little hit-marker turns green. You can toggle between the tires by pressing LB. At fast speeds, the police car will go up in flames and flip upside down. It only counts when the police car flips. Sometimes you only need to shoot one tire, sometimes two. To target them, you will also need to look behind you by pressing the Right Analog-stick. This does not have to all be done during one chase. You can let them kill you and refill ammo and do it again. In no way is the game perfect, lighting issues and AI plague the game a bit, but isn't near enough to taint the experience. Driving is great, especially after using upgrades. Combat is perfect, instead of the normal arcade style gunplay, every firearm has a sense of weight to it. Every weapon feels unique and will sastify any play style. The storytelling in the Netflix-esque format is engaging, fresh, and a very new and interesting take on the Mafia franchise. Review Revised. Mafia 3 is a wicked fun game BUUUUUT there is a few issues that are worth considering too. My first review was overly positive because I love the game and some people seemed to judge it more harshly than I would say is fair. I will simply state the good elements and those that fall short. THE GOOD: The graphics, story, main characters, cover/stealth system, weapons, vehichles, RPG like perks and upgrades, rackets bosses support systems (like bribe cops, deliver cars, get weapons delivered) and collectibles including Hugh Hefner's magazine in it's classy era. All of these things are awesome and make this game VERY GOOD and fun! THE BAD: While the story is great, the missions are repetitive and shallow at times. They needed more scripted twists and turns like the beggining heist. The NPC's all look alike and funky. There's no heli's, motorcycles or fast travel and a surprising lack of mini games. Amazing, yet broken 😢 I loved Mafia 2 and the original. Mafia 3 however, I love and hate. It only somewhat feels like a Mafia game because (spoiler alert) Vito is an NPC. The story is great as well as the cutscenes. The gamplay is, sadly, what feels like a mash up of most top games. You have an Xray vion to see enemies through walls, to perform brutal attacks your character "charges" his hand, and the stealth is a simple cover system. This game IS very glitchy but fun, It crashes often, can reset your Xbox, has problems loading textures everywhere, lighting is badly done in many places, and the AI, even on Hard mode is very easy to overcome using stealth and are very glitchy evevn seeing through walls. Also, cops are blind to speeding and traffic violations including collisions, and have a very small area to escape from if wanted. It feels rushed,. and it should never have been released without huge fixes. Most of the negativity due to graphics and crashing. The game has crashed on me twice although I didnt lose any progress. Ive also noticed a loss of audio when returning from another app forcing a restart. Having said that, the story is one of the best told thru cut scenes that are graphically stellar along with superb voice acting, some of the best Ive ever seen. The game world is very detailed and pops with very good lighting effects. I barely notice its locked to 30 frams. I also read repetitive game play. My 12 hours in has been anything but. Some repetitivity lies with game play to build your character and empire which is the object so I dont mind. This can be skipped as its set up as side missions. The stealth approach to missions is done great or you can go in guns blazing, its your choice. A few minor issues wont stop you from enjoying it. Never playing any of the other Mafia games I was worried, but found it stands apart from the others. Haven't felt left out once with characters/story. Combat is brutal and extremely fun. Sneak or go loud, your choice, which makes me constantly switch it up (thank you hanger 13!) So tired of GTA I could not even finish it and I will not purchase another, that being said, I like the foundation of the game (open world shooters) so Mafia 3 is perfect for me! I was really worried about this game after reading reviews making it sound like a huge disappointment as there is a lacking side of the open world not being able to do as much as like Grand Theft Auto 5 and the game get reptitive (which every game gets repetitive) with some pretty weird graphics like the rear view mirror. But the story, the gameplay style, and how your emotions can really get tied into this game making it unique with an awesome setting that feels like you have been put back into the past. I really liked and have enjoyed playing the previous Mafia games. This game was on my list since it was announced and I even preordered it which I rarely do. The story is great, the music is great, the cars are awesome and the overall atmosphere of the city is great but. The missions are basically the same over and over, the AI is boring and very dumb, my game is resetting to the home screen at least once every time I play usually in the middle of a mission, there is screen tearing, my character gets stuck and I have to reset, basically a bunch of random stuff that ruins the experience. I paid full price day one and believe in supporting the developers but to many games come out this console cycle that are not completely finished and polished. The game at times is repetitive when it comes to the grit and grunt of the game outside the glorious cinematics. The story is told in a way not done by games where there is a documentary feel and tone added for the gaming experience and fluidity to the game. It's when the game turns into a tale of revenge when the game starts to take a dive. You are thrown into the video game equivalent of a pyramid scheme, you must do several side missions to reach an "Under boss", you must take out both under bosses in a district to get to the "Lieutenant", you must take out two lieutenants to reach their Superior. and when you take out all three of the superiors, you reach the final mission. The side missions, range from extremely repetitive to horribly bland. your objectives will usually include 'kill this person', 'destroy this', or 'interrogate him'. With every Lieutenant comes a major story mission, which don't seem to be as good as those in Mafia 2, so there isn't even any emotional payoff following each series of repetitive missions. With each of your under bosses comes their special perks. Some I found more useful than others, like the able to deposit my money, request guns, have a car delivered to me, and calling in guys to help me clean an area. The gameplay consists of the usual hide behind cover and wait for people to stick there heads out. That being said, I stilled enjoyed firefights because of the realistic atmosphere and resource management that is there., however, I found that going in guns blazing required more health and ammo than I could hold, so i would typically play stealth because it was fast and easy. Driving feels good, and there is even a setting for more realistic driving, in case anyone who plays the game also loves racing games. the best metaphor I can think of when describing this game is like when you order a streak at a restaurant that looks great, the mashed potatoes are amazing, the service is nice, the amount you got was good for the price, and the steak itself is burnt and flavorless. This also applies to the game’s framerate of 30FPS on both consoles. We’re looking at a nearly consistent 30FPS on PS4 and Xbox One, but the frame pacing is a different story. During stress scenes, the framerate on PS4 drops to 24FPS, while the Xbox One version maintains a stable 30FPS. Of course, The PS4 renders Mafia 3 at a higher resolution.
