In the series this is probably thee single worst edition ever. The A.I. off ball is a damn joke. A.I. is ridiculously laughable worst blocking then tecmo bowl the OL will actually watch the DL or worse switch off a DL/LB to a DB and the DL will run right by lol 3-4 LB blitzing actually makes the game unplayable at times as the center no matter the rating can be shed almost instantly. Not that the Defensive A.I. is any better. I could go on and on. Overpowered stick skills in any mode. Cpu is garbage in any mode or setting. If I wasn't such a fan of football I would have just laughed it off, however since this game represents the NFL I am actually kind of annoyed. If you want a solid football game well break out an older version or start petitioning the NFL to break it's monopolized contract with EA as no competition in the market place is letting Ea to just phone it in. LOL, 2k for the xbox is probably the best option. Frostbite was overhyped btw. I can name 100 games with better gra.

Money Hungry EA Neglects Game In Favor of MUT AGAIN.
This game should just be called Madden Ultimate Team because that's all they care about. They finally brought team play back but you can only play it through MUT. And in MUT they basically force you to spend hundreds of $s to even get a decent team to play with. Ontop of that, even when you spend $50 or even $100 you aren't guaranteed to even get 1 great player. Then, because they make so much money on MUT, they neglect the gameplay and other game modes EVERY YEAR. Like the other reviews said this game plays exactly like 17. It is basically a $60 DLC. If you want to save some money im sure you could just buy 17 for $5 somewhere. This franchise went downhill ever since MUT was introduced in 09. I wouldnt be surprised if they spend 90% of development time on just MUT. DON'T BUY THIS GAME , YOU'LL REGRET IT. BOYCOTT EA.

Fun but needs work.
Firstly, I love all things Madden. I have played it for years, but there's a lot about this game that is broken and needs improvement. Connected franchise mode is buggy and the simulation is screwed up. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot to love about this game but it needs help. I spend more time frustrated than actually enjoying MUT and CFM. EA Sports needs to pour some more TLC into the game or else fans like me will regress.

Have you ever been so hungry, but there's no food in your house so, throwing caution to the wind, you eat the leftover stale pita chips that you've been staring at for the last month but not eating. That's what Madden18 is like. If there was any better option you'd certainly take it, you're not hungry anymore but you're not happy about it and you kinda feel like the pita chips ripped you off, also in both situations you've gotta wash a bad taste out of your mouth afterwards. so if you're looking for a moderately terrible time and need your fix of football, madden is the game for you! My practical complaints, to be actually helpful, lie almost entirely in the gameplay. between defenses that audible immediately to your audible, too many injuries in franchise, deep ball passing is next to impossible, you trip over lineman just standing in the pocket, and so on. Enjoy!

NEW YEAR SAME GARBAGE.
I hope its just early issues but the servers are horrendous. Gameplay hasn't changed a bit. We've been dealing with the same issues for years. This is what happens when there is no competition. They'll never fix it. MONTHS LATER AND SERVERS ARE EVEN WORSE I AM LOSING GAMES DIRECTLY DUE TO LAG!

False promoting by EA.They have removed 30 or more 1 star reviews just this week its been a daily thing since the game launched my review has been removed at least 8 times.They can fix the reviews to favor selling the game.They need to fix the game issues.Thats how to get better reviews. So do your job EA. In a football game player physcis and gameplay should be 1st priority then the graphics . The reason why is if the game plays terrible nobody will see the graphics because they wil give up on your game. Does anyone at EAsports play or even test the game before realease. So in maybe 10 yers you might build us a new game not an 80 dollar dlc . Lameshot is just a short tell tale story what waste of time its a football game not tell tale .It should have been sold as a dlc at best .Try putting a game out every 5 years only since you idiots at EA are just selling a new cover your not sellin a new game . Then sell a 20 dollar DLC that updates rosters . Until you build a real new game.

Same old MADDEN.
So, first thing is first, I'm a madden fan, have been for years. On the other hand, I have to give this an honest review. There's nothing really new, and that longshot story is not anything special. Everything that is new, for the most part, is almost good. Pros and Cons eliminate themselves to a neutral state. The gameplay is really the same as it's always been. A few animations, maybe a couple fixes from the last. All in all, it's THE SAME THING EVERY TIME. Every year, touch ups on gameplay, one (maybe two) new features, and focused changes on MUT. Connected Franchise Mode Feels the same since maddens anniversary edition (14). Personally, I like the new commentary and stat updates throughout the season but it's really the same. Remember when Madden had cool little features back then, when a created player had an apartment and stuff to do, like interviews or contract negotiations, and Superbowl winners went to the White House? 'sigh' Bottom line, it's the same thing.

Trash AI (in multiple aspects), Trash player ratings playing as their actual rating shows (player with 92 speed getting ran down open field by a 80 speed guy. ), Trash blocking asignments, Trash cheese plays, Trash CFM, Trash story, Trash gameplay, Trash glitches, Trash penalties, Trash ect. Overall, can be summed up as "TRASH". Ya'll aren't even trying anymore. EA, give up your exclusive rights so we can get some actual innovation. Make us WANT to buy your game again, not just because we have to if we want to play football.

Almost identical as 17.
The game has way smoother menus than last year, it's fast and quick instead of slow and laggy when switching menu screens.. that's the only difference really that I noticed from last year. Still glitches in the game that have existed for years for example, you can throw 4 TD passes in a game, and a stat menu pops up during the game saying you threw none.. Other glitches include penalty yardage, it can be 1st and 10,, you get a clipping penalty, then the next play it's 1st and 16.. if you sim, the kicker misses the extra point half the time, you can't challenge plays like a catch that looks to hit the ground. if you throw towards the sideline, your receiver slides out of bounds. bottom line don't expect anything new. The NFL exclusive license needs to expire, Madden is STALE. THEY TRIED TO HIDE MY REVIEW.

MUT & Online is still catered towards 10 year-olds who spam money plays and max out daddy's credit card to buy the best team. I get that 90% of the Madden fanbase is squeaking toddlers who have never watched a football game before but it's a real slap in the face to real football fans that just want to enjoy an NFL game without having to play against these clowns.

Basic Trash. I will not be fooled again.
As usual I fell for the Madden trap, nothing has changed! Waste of money, even with the engine change the game looks the same as it has for the last 6 years. Again no superstar mode, as the case for the last 6 years connected franchise is recycled with no additions. Same XP system, same scouting system (which I find boring and not realistic). Their new game mode Longshot is kind of cool though, for the five hours.. unfortunately it only last 5 hours! You don't even play one NFL game during it NOT ONE! The story was good, boring at times. But there is no payoff! Oh wait, it's another opportunity to shove MUT down our throats! something you make more money on. Also why does it always seem like dominate 95+ players make no difference at all? I will not buy another Madden until they recieve better FAN ratings, change some actual gameplay, and rid themselves of connected franchise for actual separate well done game modes. I'll be playing this plenty, I refuse to give EA any more money.

If it wasn't for my CFM league, I wouldn't be getting madden again this year. It is basically the same game; defense is tougher, running is way easier, the game modes are slimmed down and no new features added. If you disliked M17, stay away from this one.

If you love madden you're gonna love this game. I bought last year's game and usually skip a year or two but bought this one for the long shot mode. The long shot mode was a cool idea but kinda boring. Everything else in the game is exactly last year's version as far as I can tell.

The new Long shot story mode is cool, but the rest of the game didn't really change from last year. Graphics are are improved.
