You've come to know and love the peashooters and sunflowers of the original Plants vs. Zombies (and you've probably logged more hours with them than you care to admit). With the Xbox One, you can take this delightful tower defense game to the big screen. Play Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare online alongside other plants or as part of the zombie horde. The game will also offer an online co-op for four players, in addition to an offline split screen co-op just for the Xbox One. Available Spring 2014 ($39.99). 2. Project Spark. Remember when you played in the sandbox with your friends as a kid? Remember how you built beautiful castles and staged epic battles? Project Spark is that same sandbox, but rather than grains of sand, pixels are your playthings. This game lets you create whatever wild game world you want, with a unique look and your own set of rules. For co-op, you can share your creations with friends or work on the same game together. Available for Xbox One beta January 2014. 3. Call of Duty: Ghosts. With the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts on the new generation of consoles, the crew at Activision and Infinity Ward have made huge leaps in how you work with and against other players. The newest entry in the franchise has seven new multiplayer modes and 20 new killstreaks. Ghosts is also making a first foray into dynamic environments, so you can blow up a gas station or flood a map to change the course of a match. Available Nov. 5, 2013 ($59.99). 4. Need for Speed Rivals. The next generation of consoles is opening new possibilities in the world of driving games. Rather than simply push for better and better times on set courses, developers are blending single player and multiplayer driving with an open world experience. Need for Speed Rivals is one such example, and it will be available just days before the Xbox One launch. This game lets you cross into your friends' games, giving a co-op edge to the wild chases and competitions on the street. Available Nov. 19, 2013 ($59.99). 5. Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. Pirates? Stealth? Multiplayer? You can have it all in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag . The multiplayer gameplay feels more like a mind game than a show of brute strength. On top of the free-for-all and team options of previous titles, Black Flag lets you team up with other players for a co-op experience in the Wolfpack mode. Outthink your enemies and strategize with your friends to stay alive. Available Oct. 29, 2013 ($59.99). 6. Just Dance 2014. The classic party game has been amped up thanks to the new capabilities of the Kinect controller. Up to six people can perform together in Just Dance 2014 , and they won't all be doing the same choreography. Ubisoft also added online multiplayer for the first time, so you can compete for glory on the World Dance Floor. If busting a move isn't your thing, play the part of Party Master and direct the show, posing challenges and picking new songs for the dancers. Available Nov. 19, 2013 ($49.99). Whether you're piled on the couch together or locking horns in an online multiplayer adventure, nothing quite compares to the fun of gaming with your friends. Thanks to the technological advances coming in the next generation of consoles, gamers will have many new co-op experiences at their fingertips this fall. The Xbox One, which hits shelves Nov. 22, has several titles that push the bounds of what gamers can do together. From the casual to the hardcore, players of all kinds can find something to enjoy. These six titles are bringing new ideas and new multiplayer fun to the living room. Several will also be available on PC or PlayStation 4, but some are exclusive to the Microsoft camp. What co-op titles are you most excited to play on the new Xbox? Anna Washenko is a freelance writer covering digital entertainment, social media, science, and tech. While local multiplayer may not be as prevalent as it once was, there’s still plenty of great local multiplayer games available on PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U. The last generation of gaming saw an unfortunate trend begin. Developers started releasing games without any local multiplayer or co-op options, forcing people to play online if they wanted their multiplayer fix. While there is something to be said about the benefits of online multiplayer gameplay, there are many gamers that prefer to sit on the couch with friends, and enjoy gaming as a more social experience. Those gamers may feel as though there aren’t many options for them on the PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U. However, there are actually quite a few games with local multiplayer functionality for players to enjoy on the eighth-gen systems. The 13 listed below are especially great, and should be enough to satisfy anyone’s craving for good, old-fashioned couch multiplayer. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. First up is something for those that enjoy a little loot-based RPG elements in their first-person shooters. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection brings together remastered versions of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! , and it significantly improves the local co-op functionality of those games in the process, adding rare 4-player split-screen support for the campaign. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The Call of Duty franchise has long been a champion for local multiplayer, and so far the best representation of that on current gen systems is Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare . The game offers split-screen for competitive multiplayer, co-op, and through its DLC expansions, the challenging Exo Zombies mode. While the most recent game in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 , released to stronger reviews, it disappoints in the local multiplayer department, with weak split-screen that makes text nearly impossible to read. This gives Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare the edge over its successor, and it’s why Advanced Warfare has our recommendation over Black Ops 3 . Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition. The Diablo franchise has provided engrossing co-op experiences since its inception, and Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition carries on that tradition. Bundling the Reaper of Souls expansion with an enhanced version of the core Diablo 3 experience, Ultimate Evil Edition is the best way to enjoy Diablo 3 ‘s addicting brand of dungeon crawling, hack-and-slash, 4-player co-op action. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Admittedly, one is likely to have the most fun with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition in its online arenas, but the game also has plenty of support for the local multiplayer-minded gamer as well. This includes split-screen online for Gears of War ‘s popular competitive multiplayer modes, and a campaign built entirely around the local co-op gaming experience. Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Halo: The Master Chief Collection had a rough launch, but with those problems mostly cleared up by now, players are free to enjoy the game for its excellent multiplayer. The Master Chief Collection features 4-player split-screen for versus multiplayer, and 2-player split-screen for campaign co-op across the first four games in the Halo series, with the option for split-screen online as well. This stands in stark contrast to the latest game in the series, as Halo 5: Guardians has no split-screen at all. Here’s hoping that Halo 6 takes after The Master Chief Collection , and Halo gets back to its local multiplayer roots. Mario Kart 8. Mario Kart 8 is the best selling Wii U game for a reason. It is the deepest game in the Mario Kart series to-date, offering an unprecedented number of tracks and racers, while also expanding the game’s level of vehicular customization. Mario Kart 8 continues the franchise’s focus on quality local multiplayer experiences, allowing up to four players to enjoy the game in split-screen. Nidhogg is a game about dueling with swords, with the goal to escape via the opponent’s side of the screen. Its simplistic gameplay creates an interesting dynamic of cat and mouse, and while it may not have a huge budget like other games on the list, it’s hard to find a local multiplayer experience as purely entertaining as Nidhogg . Rare Replay. When one is looking to relive the glory days of local multiplayer, it’s hard to go wrong with the nostalgic romp that is Rare Replay on Xbox One. For the unaware, Rare Replay collects some of the developer’s finest video games from its 30-year plus existence. A number of those games also include some great multiplayer components, with Conker’s Bad Fur Day and the Perfect Dark games as standouts. Rocket League. Rocket League may very well be the king of indie multiplayer games right now, mixing soccer and cars to tremendous results. A surprise success, Psyonix Games has managed to keep the large Rocket League community engaged since launch with frequent updates that have enhanced the 4-player split-screen game both online and off. Players can download Rocket League right now for PC and PS4, and an Xbox One version of Rocket League is coming soon. Super Mario 3D World. In Super Mario 3D World , Nintendo takes the gameplay style of Super Mario 3D Land on the 3DS and translates it to the television screen. This larger real estate allows Nintendo to include 4-player co-op in Super Mario 3D World , with players able to take control of Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Toad across the game’s many brilliantly designed 3D platforming levels. Players will want to work cooperatively to fully complete the game, but at the same time, there is a sense of competition to see who can earn the most points by the end of each stage. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. The ultimate fighting/party game franchise is Super Smash Bros. , and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is the most robust game in the series yet. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has 8 player matches, features an exhausting amount of game modes that can be played competitively or cooperatively, and also allows those playing together locally to take the fight online. Nintendo has managed to give Super Smash Bros. for Wii U additional longevity by releasing a steady stream of DLC for it, which has included some truly surprising guest stars, such as Final Fantasy 7 ‘s Cloud Strife. The Jackbox Party Pack. Traditional party games may be especially hard to come by on current gen systems right now, but The Jackbox Party Pack fills the void nicely, consisting of mostly adult-oriented entertainment through five different digital board games. The game strives to be as convenient as possible, allowing players to participate using their smartphones instead of a standard game controller. As our Jackbox Party Pack review shows, we’ve been enthusiastic about the game since its release, and it is still good for plenty of laughs at parties. TowerFall Ascension. TowerFall Ascension was once the premiere Ouya exclusive, but the game has thankfully made its way to more relevant platforms. It offers addicting co-op gameplay through a number of highly challenging stages, while also bringing to the table a chaotic versus mode for up to four players. Like Nidhogg , TowerFall Ascension ‘s simplistic design works in its favor, creating a local multiplayer experience that is easy for anyone to pick up, play, and enjoy. Since last generation, the trend has been for less games to feature local multiplayer, but it looks like things are starting to turn around, slowly but surely. In the meantime, the games on this list should keep local multiplayer enthusiasts busy while they wait for the next big release with local multiplayer support. Which local multiplayer experiences on current gen consoles have been your favorite? Do you wish that more developers made the effort to include local multiplayer in their games, or would you rather play with your friends online? The best Xbox One 'couch co-op' games. It used to be that multi-player games were played side-by-side with a friend, sharing a console and a couch. But in the age of online multi-player, the couch co-op is still thriving, even if under the radar. They usually support one to four players and come in so many genres that there is something for everyone. We've been screamed at by 10-year-old kids on Call of Duty, we've been sent sarcastic messages on Xbox Live for "being a scrub" in Dark Souls, the scope for trash-talking has widened exponentially with Kinect automatically broadcasting that expletive that you just hurled at the opponent that just killed you as soon as you respawned. But the physical presence of having someone compete against you is much more tangible and exciting. Plus, you know, you're sharing a screen so it's really hard to not cheat. I mean, it's right there ! And if you lose. you already know where they live. Have a look at what we think are some of the best local multiplayer games. Note: Some of these games are better played with local multiplayer or designed to be played with at least two players, and we've decided to skip games where there are multiplayer modes such as Halo, Gears of War and Call of Duty. Overcooked. Team17 ought to feature more than once on this list, but that's because they make brilliant co-op games! Overcooked is a frantic cooking game, but I hope your wits are sharper than your knives. You (and your buddies) will have to prepare, cook and serve dishes for increasingly irate customers. As a periodical sufferer of "The Hangries" (hungry irritability), there is nothing worse than being kept waiting for food, so limber up and get serving those hungry customers! There are plenty of jobs to do in the kitchen and not nearly enough hands. As the old adage goes, too many cooks spoil the broth, but in Overcook's case too few cooks can't get the job done. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is an action game in which you and your beloved (or your co-gamer) take control of a ship, traversing a neon cosmos and manning all the battle stations yourselves. If there was ever a game that encompassed what being in a relationship is all about, Lovers In a Dangerous Spacetime is it. Team work is key, as you protect your tiny Love ship from Anti-Love. Run about the ship, activating shields and turrets as you go, keeping you and your loved one safe. If you honestly don't have anyone to play with, you can play with an AI dog. After all, isn't a dog a man's best and most loyal friend? Neon Chrome. Neon Chrome is a roguelike game, where you and a friend can pick a character and battle your way through many floors in order to defeat the Overseer. before doing it all over again, only this time everything is a little bit harder. Not for the faint-hearted, Neon Chrome is already a pretty brutal single player experience, even if you have collected and found some decent power-ups. Taking a buddy with you multiplies your damage output, there are plenty of lives to go round, but you'll have to bicker amongst yourselves about who gets the next upgrade. Blade Runner meets The Matrix as you transfer your consciousness into clones, establish a neural link and control their bodies to take back control of Neon Chrome, the giant man-made city-in-a-building. The King is dead. In order to be moved to his final resting place, you and a friend can push and pull the King's funeral wagon in a physics-based puzzle platformer. Traversing multiple levels in caves and passages, the large wheels and tethers enable you to perform some cool maneuvers in order to get the King to his burial site. Watch out for looters on your journey, as they will try to pinch all the loot you've prized from the walls on your way. Child of Light. Child of Light is a side-scrolling, platforming RPG, with gorgeous soft graphics and a gentle soundtrack that will capture anyone's attention. Player one controls Aurora, the feathery haired heroine, taking control of attacking and exploration. Player two controls Igniculus, the support character that can reveal hidden entrances, heal Aurora in battle and stun enemies. With a story of a forgotten kingdom told in the style of a poem, this is one fairytale that shouldn't be lost to the ethers of childhood memory. Guns, Gore and Cannoli. Ahh the 1920's, the era of Prohibition, gang warfare and Al Capone. Guns, Gore and Cannoli is a side-scrolling shooter which is incredible fun while playing alone but even better with friends. And we don't mean 'friends' in the Al Capone sense of a dinner party assassination, but your real buddies. Vinnie is an enforcer for the mob, but you won't just be taking on mobsters. Nope, there are zombies too! With a whimsical jazz soundtrack, and more cartoon mobster baddies than you can shake a fur-lined coat at, Guns, Gore and Cannoli is a short yet fun experience that may just have you popping back for more. Castle Crashers Remastered Edition. Originally on Xbox 360, Castle Crashers was remastered for the Xbox One. Crash castles, save the princess and defend your kingdom. Play with up to four players, and throw yourself into zany co-op adventures. There are over 25 characters and 40 weapons to use, and various modes to test your expert castle smashing mettle. Bludgeon enemies, or set fire to them with magic. There is much more than meets the eye in Castle Crashers, offering a lengthy campaign and RPG elements to continue to level up your heroes. Rocket League. Who thought that cars and football would ever be a combination that works? Well, apparently, it does, and it's inexcusably huge. Lets face it, Rocket League has been nominated for over 100 Game of the Year awards. If you're still looking at the screen like you think you might need to use the bathroom over this combination, try it for yourself. Rocket League is incredible fun, even if you're not very good at it, and is a game that will undoubtedly have you swearing and shouting at the TV (and each other) like its 1989. Minecraft: Xbox One Edition. Here we go again, more Minecraft, yes I know. But we can't possibly refute that this is one of the best games to play locally with buddies. If you thought Minecraft was some stupid kids game, you couldn't be more wrong! It's now one of the biggest survival adventure games available. Build anything you can imagine, power it with redstone, create a stronghold and fight the monsters that come out at night. Its accessibility allows for even the youngest of players to take the controls, and players have built everything from basic shelters to massive basic electronics replicas in the Minecraft. The story really is yours to tell. So those are some of our favorite Xbox One couch co-op games. Let us know in the comments if we've left your favorite out! Sacred 3: Hack-and-Slash Co-Op Whether You Like It or Not. It has a few obvious influences, but more than anything else, Sacred 3 is like Warhammer: 40,000. On one side of things, you have deadly serious heroes with a strong sense of culture who are devoted to doing what's right. The Safiri, for instance, harness the sun to power their warrior merchants. Meanwhile, the oppressed Ancarians are a group of guerilla troops who use nasty tactics to keep themselves safe. Sacred 3's enemies, however, are ridiculous, goofy green-skins with a hunger for violence and armor made from slapped-together garbage. It's a fun mix that works well with the familiar but improved-upon action-RPG gameplay, and it proves new series developer Keen Games -- new to the Sacred series -- has a great understanding of what makes Sacred tick. The one major difference in that respect is that PlayStation 3 is its lead platform -- this is an RPG engineered to appeal to a console audience. This influence means Sacred 3's click-click-click combat -- regardless of platform -- is more action-oriented than automatic. It looks the part, too. The presentation gives players the traditional isometric camera, but the moment-to-moment flow of a fight has plenty of satisfying violence. Enemies obey the laws of physics in believable ways. They go flying when bashed, recoil in pain when hurt, and interact with each other when, say, you throw one into another. If your sorceress knocks someone down with a wave of spiky magic crystals, I can execute them with my brute's big blade. If I stun a group, you can shove them off a ledge or into each other. Sacred was always better in co-op, so Sacred 3 leaves it on at all times. Even if you're not connected to three online pals, you'll have a trio of A.I. allies rolling with you as you fight off large groups of bad guys. And no, before you ask, you do not have to be connected to the Internet at all times to play. Like you, each ally is his or her own developed character with a distinct set of active and passive skills. Everyone has a small number of abilities to equip at a time to keep the team from getting overpowered, which doesn't limit combat as much as you'd expect. Actually, if you play your cards right, combining powers with your team gives you additional ways to take down foes. Complementary skills are something Sacred 3 wants to make its name on, and we're told to expect plenty of creative four-player co-op combos. Sometimes the camera pans down to show the scope of an area. Sacred 3 looks to do what its predecessors couldn't: put itself on par with the modern standard of its genre. So far, there's little evidence it's doing anything to advance beyond that, but at first glance, this is an impressive 3D action RPG with combat and characters you can get behind. It's a role-playing game where you have an actual role to play, and because it empowers players by making them think about how they work together, it becomes a strong co-op game instead of a strong game with co-op. The PC may be a brilliant gaming platform, but it’s always been viewed as the inferior option when it comes to local co-op games. As much as I love 1440p resolutions, Steam, cheaper titles, and the ability to play games at more than 60 frames per second, I do lament the fact that so few desktop titles are created with local co-op in mind. In recent years, however, this trend has slowly started to change. Rather than the usual small handful of titles that feature local co-op modes, an increasing number of developers have begun to realize that the PC is making headway into the living room space that used to be reserved solely for consoles, and that their games should reflect this. As more and more smaller, form-factor PCs and dedicated Steam boxes make their way beneath the family television, more PC owners want titles that feature local co-op modes. Sometimes it's better to play with family, friends and partners, than against them. So, if you’re wondering what some of the best local co-operative games are on the PC, here are 7 that you should try.

Zuletzt online vor 7 Tagen. Step two: Press X ( SQUARE on a PS3 controller) on the controller. You should know: Playing offline splitscreen disables achievements. The game considers it "cheating". Pictures: Click on the images to enlarge them. Recommended for people with bad eye-sight. A picture of the launch options in finnish. It says "for advanced users only" , don't let it spook you. You can actually write any commands here: every subsequent command is introduced with ' - '. My autoexec.cfg highlighted in the top. Take note of the directory: it's fairly similar in every Windows system. In Linux or iOS the default install directories are found in Steam Support. Press right mouse button while in the cfg folder, left click on New ("uusi" in finnish) and press Text file (again "tekstitiedosto" in finnish) . It should look something like this. "Muistio" means notepad. Note that the autoexec.cfg that you can download from my DropBox already has this functionality and keybinding. The command "joy_remap_player_for_controller1" doesn't work on Linux or OSX. I don't know why that is, you'll have to ask people at Valve. in_forceuser 1 forces the keyboard and mouse to be played as player 2. in_forceuser 0 resets the keyboard and mouse back to player 1. This requires running sv_cheats 1 command first. Currently the emote wheel does not work on Xbox controllers (360 and One) or keyboard. Furthermore, the camera can't be controlled with an Xbox controller (i.e. you cannot turn). Everything seems to work properly with the Steam Controller though. After preliminary testing, I couldn't transfer the SC control over to player 2 with the method glossed in this guide.. I'll try investigating further. I am kind of lost at this point, any help appreciated.
