Minecraft: Xbox One Edition was the Xbox One edition of Minecraft Legacy Console Edition developed by 4J Studios [12] before the Better Together Update. You can still, however, buy a retail version of the game. Bedrock Edition is a free download for all digital owners of Xbox One Edition . Owners of the disc version who bought DLC from the digital store, or played at least five hours between September 20, 2016 and January 30, 2018, also received it for free. Xbox One Edition is a separate game from Bedrock Edition and is still playable for anyone who owns it. DLC for Xbox One Edition can still be purchased, and most of it will carry over to Bedrock Edition. When selecting a world in Bedrock Edition, any world from Xbox One Edition can be imported. Initially, Xbox One Edition was planned to no longer receive updates, starting with the lack of an equivalent update to TU58, but the edition later received CU50, an update adding the MINECON Earth Skin Pack, and later updates resumed entirely with CU51, an update equivalent to TU60 which also added all the features from TU58. Compared to Xbox 360 Edition , Xbox One Edition included larger world sizes up to 5120x5120 blocks (36 times larger), 18 chunk render distance, amplified worlds, and enhancements offered by the Xbox One. [1] Despite it being very similar to Bedrock Edition , Xbox One Edition still has all of the Legacy Console Edition exclusive features, with the most notable being the built-in mini games. Because of licensing restrictions, some of the Xbox One Edition DLC is unavailable in Bedrock Edition, and some of it is not on the Marketplace and can only be obtained if it was bought for the Xbox One Edition . For Xbox 360 Edition players who wish to transfer worlds, it is preferable to buy the disc version of Xbox One Edition instead of buying the new Bedrock Edition, and do so before January 30, 2018. With no current method of transferring worlds directly from the Xbox 360 Edition to Bedrock Edition for Xbox One, the only way is to import the Xbox 360 world in Xbox One Edition and then import the Xbox One world in Bedrock Edition after getting it from playing the Xbox One Edition for five hours. It is unknown what will happen to the transfer functionality after the Xbox 360 Edition is updated with new content that does not exist in the Xbox One Edition . If the Minecon 2015 Skin Pack was purchased during the limited time it was available, it transfers to Bedrock Edition and is usable in multiplayer. The Simpsons Skin Pack, as well as the Marvel skin packs, also transfer, but are not usable in multiplayer. In default settings, the controls are always displayed on the HUD. There's been a lot of talk about Minecraft's Better Together update, which will add cross-play functionality between all devices that have Minecraft--with the notable exception of Sony platforms. Now, players can finally try out Minecraft's cross-play, as it has gone live in a limited beta test. The beta is currently only available on Windows 10 and Android devices, but Microsoft promises that it'll grow to include Xbox One players soon. Beta testers have access to many of the planned features coming in the full update, although some--like community-run, cross-platform servers--have yet to be implemented. The first build of the upcoming Minecraft Beta for Xbox One consoles is apparently now in certification (the approval process) which means it could go live sometime during the next week or so. But just because other people stopped playing, does not mean you should too. People don't realize what you really can make with this game especially with the introduction of command blocks. For the first time in the history of Minecraft, people playing on multiple platforms can all play together on servers, something we've been waiting on for a long time. Now, there are some legitimate reasons not to get this game, but if you have the Java version, you might as well get this, too, because you can use the code you have with your Mojang account to get this for free. That's what I did. I actually prefer this over the Java Edition because it performs better on my computer. You can have both versions of this game and be happy with one or the other, but I appreciate both of them. If Microsoft wants to make this the flagship Minecraft, I'm okay with it. I understand your frustration if you prefer the Java version, though. I didn't like the idea at first, either, but it's nice to know they're not abandoning the Java version. I have found many bugs just barely entering the game. There is one HUGE advantage to getting WinX edition and that is fps. The fps has increased dramatically from the PC version. I even ran this on a bad computer to try it out, and I was floating around 60-80 fps. Some bugs I have noticed however is that you have to click a block/animal once before you can actually interact with it. This makes it virtually impossible to kill animals. But, as I said, it's a Beta. Also, I can't speak for everyone but I personally am used to a small GUI, and in the PC version you are able to change the size of the GUI, but unfortunately that is yet to be a feature in the WinX edition. I love the fact that you can change skins and characters. Some of the content of the game is outdated compared to the PC edition, but many people are enjoying it because it reminds them of Minecraft classic. For those of you that don't know, this is not an attempt to make the pc version into a windows 10 application. It's an attempt to unify the mobile, xbox, and pc games. That being said, it's simply a port from pocket edition to a pc, which means it is limited to the functions of mobile devices to a degree. Granted, it does not have as much functionality as the full pc version, but it does allow you to connect with pe and xbox users in way that was not possible before. When I played MCPE 5 years ago it was nothing like this. and now with the upcoming "Better Together" update. it only gets better from here. Can't wait to see what Mojang has in store for me and the rest of the community. along with every update comes another 4 months of interesting discovery and something new to discover and better quality gameplay. We are catching up to the Java version of minecraft and soon, we will be neck and neck. Java will be no longer. Soon everyone will wanna play just "Minecraft" not Pocket Edition, or console edition. Excellent for a first release! If you enjoyed Minecraft: Pocket Edition on iOS or Android, you'll definitely enjoy this release. Although it is missing much functionality from the PC version, it is still an oddly pleasing hybrid between the desktop and mobile versions. One of my favorite features in the Windows 10 Edition would have to be the flexibility with controls. If you use a two-in-one laptop, you can easily switch between touch screen mode, and mouse and keyboard mode. Thankfully, the interface is not too tedious to use, and works well with both modes. Although there are many bugs and/or missing features, bear in mind that this IS just the beta, and that they'll be adding more features in future updates. Remember, this is not a replacement to the java (or desktop) version of Minecraft; rather, it is a nice addition to the Store, and (in my opinion), a bit of an experiment on Mojang/Microsoft's part.
