I was immediately concerned when I bought this headset because the girl at the store said that the mic and headphone were in the same cord. I was planning on hooking it up to the PS4 controller like the headset that came with the PS4 system. I was about to pack it up and return it and then I took a shot and hooked up the 2 cords to the USB and then stuck it in the front of the PS4 and was like "what the heck maybe it will work" and it works perfectly! Furthermore, it hooks up plug and play with the PS4 and it doesn't put strain on the batery of the controller running directly into the system. VERY happy with this purchase they look amazing as well and like I said they are probably the most comfortable feeling on the ears I've ever felt on a gaming headset (especially for under 100 bucks) Great buy, I guess you could say it's the "Best" buy? rofl corny puns aside, I highly recommend this product. I would recommend this to a friend. Please try again later. Perfect for long hours of gaming. As a 14 year old gamer, I've had this headset for about half a year now, and it's still doing good to this day. Lets start with the box. It made a good impression on first glance, with the fancy x-ray of half of the headset. Inside the box is the headset, manual, and USB Audio Card. To start using it was very easy. Just plug it in to your audio ports, or if you want the 7.1 surround, use the USB audio card. The software is. not bad. It crashes sometimes on Windows 8 x64 Bit. Without the software running, you can NOT use the 7.1 surround sound. The UI for the software is good enough for beginners like me. Now to the headset itself. It feels quite nice, and it doesn't feel like bricks on your head when you're using for long hours. The pads are like memory foam (Excuse my english, it an't good, since I speak russian) and they are covered with a mesh that feels nice. The mesh makes it a breathable headset, so not a lot of sweat will build up. The pads are removable so they are easy to wash. The cable is VERY long, though this could get annoying at times. The sound quality is nice since it has 7.1 surround on it. Mic quality is pretty good since I use it for my YouTube videos, though I plan on using a different mic soon. Overall this headset is very good for long hours of gaming, its 7.1 surround sound, and how good it feels on your head. 4/5. I would recommend this to a friend. Please try again later. Great product for the money. For a little over a year I had been using a Turtle Beach X12 headset, until one day my dog messed up the microhpone cord and I could no longer use my mic to communicate when I was talking to my friends, gaming, etc. I decided to head to BestBuy to buy a replacement pair when I decided to look at some other options. I looked for awhile and was about to buy the X12 when I saw the G430 on display. I put it on and listened for a few moments until I heard some loud yelling behind me (it was playing a Borderlands 2 sound demo). I jumped and turned because I thought somebody in the store was actually yelling at me. As soon as I realized it was just the headphones, I made the decision that I was buying the G430. Everything works well and is comfortable. My friends never have any problems hearing me through the mic, and I never have problems hearing anything through the headset. I love the surround sound, on these, it adds a new layer to gaming (especially with atmospheric or horror games) and it has given me the advantage many times when playing games online (such as Battlefield). I also find them comfortable enough to not have any issues while wearing for long stretches of time when I'm talking to my friends, which is a nice contrast to the X12 which would give me a headache after awhile. I personally don't have any complaints about the product, it always works 100% and I couldn't be happier with it. I would recommend this to a friend. Please try again later. Comfort and quality. I tried these at PAX East 2013 and have been waiting for their release since April. I use headsets all day long and when I get home I want to put on a comforable pair of 7.1 surround speakers and just play video games. These deliver! I can wear them for hours at a time with no issue (old logitech's were made from plastic ear cups and hurt after an hour) My ONLY observation is a pair of Turtle Beachs I use at work are much louder. Loud doesn't mean more quality, but some people might want that. The Logitech G430 blow my work headset out of the water when it comes to audio quality and so far the surround works great in Defiance, Warface, Neverwinter, SMITE, League, and Guild Wars 2. I would recommend this to a friend. Please try again later. High Quality Sound for price. I had purchased the Razer Tiamat 2.2 headset, and was happy with the bass, but the sound seemed right on my ears (if that makes any sense!). The set fit too snug on my head and made my ears hot. I had used the Carcharias from Razer as well, and they were very comfortable, but lacked the surround. This is easily the most comfortable headset I've ever used, with easily the best fidelity. The cloth ear covers allow for extended use with low heat buildup. The sound is very spacious and the separation of low frequency from high frequency is excellent. The addition of 3.5mm jacks allows me to plug into my X-Fi soundcard for extra volume, as the USB adapter sound output is lower in volume for music than I would like. The volume in gaming is spot on, and the 7.1 surround is very nice. The LFE on 7.1 is fantastic! The fella who says these don't work with voip is dead wrong - he's got a USB problem. I will be buying another pair for my son - these are mine! I would recommend this to a friend. Please try again later. Good headset for a hardcore gamer. Excellent headset for the price, trust me you get your moneys worth. I would recommend this to a friend. Please try again later. Exceeded Expectations. Seeing a 7.1 surround-sound headset for the price made me skeptical of the quality, but it has proved me wrong. It's very comfortable, and it's very easy to switch from 7.1 surround to stereo if so desired. Microphone works very well too. I would recommend this to a friend. Please try again later. Great Gaming Headset for the price. Great gaming headset. Build quality is really good, like the USB interface, 7.1 simulated surround sound actually sounds great and adds a lot of depth to games, though sounds strange having Skype calls in 7.1. Mic pick up and sound is great, sends a little bit of the mic pick up back through the headset so you are not yelling to hear yourself, which is awesome. Would recommend to anyone who wants a good gaming headset for a moderate price level. Logitech G430 Gaming Headset Review. There are three variations of headsets gamers desire: the cheap ones just for console chat, expensive, surround-sound multipurpose headsets, and those falling somewhere in between the two extremes. The Logitech G430 falls into the last category, leaning slightly toward a more expensive, high-quality model. With a black and light-blue color scheme, the headset looks like something straight out of the Deckers’ ensemble in Saints Row: The Third . It’s stylish and certain to impress even the most casual of gamers with its pleasing aesthetics. A six foot (or so) long braided cable allows you to travel a bit away from your computer without causing a snag or taking the the headset off, but it could be slightly longer for total convenience. One of the coolest features is the USB adapter that the cord plugs into and allows you to input both the microphone and the audio through one USB port. It certainly helps clean things up in an environment often filled with cords. The cloth-covered earpads are comfortable enough, at first, and they do well to nullify outside noises, but extended periods of gaming can quickly grow uncomfortable as the cups firmly cup your ears, rather than simply resting on top of them. The padding itself is removable, replaceable, and washable, allowing you to save some cash if they need to be replaced, but breaking in the headset does take some time. While the microphone can obviously be rotated vertically, it doesn’t do so well horizontally, which can cause issues with volume levels when in chat. Mic levels are adjustable, however, via software. While control over the bass, treble, and surround sound are nice, they aren’t required unless you’re truly into optimizing your experience. Apparently the software isn’t supported on OS X, so Mac gamers will have to wait for Logitech if they want to enable their 7.1. Regardless, the G430 does a good job at creating an immersive experience. If you’re in the market for headsets with standard volume controls on the cord, rather than on the headpiece itself, you’re in luck; the G430 lets you change volume levels and toggle the mute on and off through a corded control module. Due to the length of the cord, however, it will often need to rest on your lap or hang off the chair beside you, which can be inconvenient. The Logitech G430 boasts 7.1 surround sound, and I can vouch that it is indeed impressive for the price. My only issue came about when I first started using the headset with games that weren’t actually recorded with surround sound functionality. After doing some research, I came to find out that the headset actually requires some drivers and software to work compatibly with these titles. Fortunately these drivers can be downloaded from Logitech’s website, though the fact that the headset doesn’t work perfectly straight out of the box is a bit inconvenient. It would be understandable if this were a mouse or a keyboard, but every other headset I’ve used has worked correctly from the second I’ve plugged it in. If you’re interested in specifics, some specs are listed below: Frequency response: 20Hz-20KHz. Impedance: 32 Ohms. Sensitivity: 90dB SPL/mW. Microphone Pickup pattern: Cardioid (Unidirectional) Type: Pressure Gradient Electret Condenser. Frequency response: 50-20KHz. Sensitivity: -40dBV/Pa re: 0dB = 1 Pa, 1KHz. 3-year Limited hardware warranty. It’s worth noting that this is a PC gaming headset, it will not work on your Xbox or PlayStation. While there are some issues regarding cord length, OS X support, and slight discomfort, they’re easily overlooked by the fact that for the price, you’re really getting a great product. I fully recommend going this route if you want something similar to Astro’s headsets but don’t want to drop $200 on a single product. Why is it so much cheaper you ask? The surround sound isn’t actually generated by the speakers, but through Logitech’s software, allowing them to price themselves much lower than other 7.1 headsets. This was a new concept for me, but I can promise you one thing–surround sound emulation has never sounded better. You may also like. ‘Dark Souls 2’ Review in Progress. Logitech G430 Surround Sound Gaming Headset | Dolby 7.1 Technology. Review Date: August 2, 2014. I recently had the opportunity to try it Logitech G430 surround sound gaming headset. This headset says that it has Dolby 7.1 technology. I really wanted to enjoy this headset. I reviewed a few turtle beach headsets, that are wired and have a DSS2 amplifier. This puts out 7.1 Dolby, so I had a reference to evaluate this Dolby 7.1 technology. Logitech G430. When I opened the box was met with a nice blue-black headset looked really sharp. Ear cups were covered with a cloth cover which appears to be removable and washable. That’s really nice. I put them on my head and they felt pretty tight the cushioning was pretty good but not as soft as others that I’ve tried. After a couple of hours on my head, I was sporting a nasty headache from the tightness of the fit. They did get a bit better as I wore them longer and after about a week it was tolerable. The cushioning is still subpar in my estimation. The cable with this G430 headset is 8 feet long and is braided. It looks like it will hold up to some abuse. It comes with a Velcro tie so you can Corlett shorten it. If you need to. The cable ends in 3.5 mm jacks and has a USB adapter for those that are addicted to ports. The microphone as a little bit of adjustment and does flip up out of the way it doesn’t automatically mute though. The amplifier and controls are in-line and control the volume and the mute for the microphone. G430 Drivers. The audio drivers in the ear cups are 40 mm, so although they’re not the biggest on the market. They are good size and give good output. Frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz, so these are about comparable with everything else on the market. Microphone is unidirectional, response to 15 to 20 kHz and has noise cancellation. I found that the noise cancellation feature was horrendous. Microphone. When the microphone works, it works pretty well. In game, I experienced a lot of dropping out. I think this is the noise cancellation feature. It may have been a threshold setting, so that when I was talking too quietly it thought I was background noise. Seriously frustrating. There isn’t much use to having a headset if the microphone isn’t reliable. Logitech Software. The Logitech G-series gaming software installs pretty easily. When you first open it up, it shows you volume levels for the headset and microphone. It allows you to adjust the bass and treble. In the right hand corner is a button that allows you open the advanced equalizer control panel. To use the advanced equalizer settings you need to turn on the power button upper right of the advanced equalizer. Adjusting the advanced equalizer settings will automatically change the preamp settings, you can’t adjust the preamp on its own. Jumping over to the surround sound mixer, first you have to enable the surround sound with the button in the lower left-hand corner. Once you haven it turned on, you can adjust the individual speakers by clicking the up and down arrows for each surround sound location. Under the window is a test surround sound button. This will output tones from each speaker so that you can tell if it’s to your liking. If you make your adjustments while the test is being run, you can hear the changes in real-time. I found that this software seems to conflict with the settings on my PC. It jumps back and forth from stereo sound to the surround sound, and then back again. It didn’t seem to work very reliably at all. If you have the same problem you need to go to the enhancements settings and select speaker fill after you select of the G430 as the sound source. G430 Surround Sound. Once I had the software set up, the surround sound seem to work very nicely. I was pretty impressed with the sound even at high-volume. There was no clipping of the highs and the bass is really nice. As far as separation with the surround sound, I thought it was good but it didn’t seem to be much improvement over the 5.1 headsets that I’ve heard in the past. Final Word. From a sound standpoint this headset, the Logitech G430, is a pretty nice headset. If you are only after the sound then I would get this headset. If you want a completely rounded headset that has a good microphone and supporting software that works reliably, I would go somewhere else. The tight fit, and poorly cushioned ear cups and the microphone that works once in a while, just makes this headset worth passing up. If you really want the Dolby 7.1 surround sound, I would recommend one of the turtle beach units that use a DSS2 amplifier such as the DPX21 or that the DX12. 4 Comments. I want to know if the work with xbox one because i do a mayor part of gaming in PC like a 90% on PC and 10% on Xbox but dont want to buy 2 headsets so please let me know, i like the logitec G430. The G430 will work with the XBox One with a couple of modifications. You will need the XBox One Stereo Headset Adapter. In addition, you will need a Y splitter to connect the headset wires to the XBone headset adapter. Here is a link for the Y splitter. If you want to see how it all goes together, here is a link to a video showing the configuration: Configuration Video. I recently bought this and I use it for both PC and ps3. As expected it only gives me voice sounds through ps3, no gameplay sounds at all. I have heard of ways to make gameplay and voice come through and still have the mic work, but I dont want to invest in random cables I know nothing about to just find out it doesn’t work for this specific headset. I use HDMI and a computer monitor. What is the best course of action? Should I just buy a cheap TV and plug mic into USB adapter into ps3, headphone jack into headphone hole on the TV? Should I buy some cables to somehow send ps3 audio to my computer, then computer audio to headset? Should I just waste my new headset and go buy a turtle beach headset that is ps3 compatible? Any help is appreciated. I am on a tight budget ($30-50) but I would like to get answers before I start blindly saving up. You can certainly go through the jury rigging processes and play with cables until you have a solution that works for you. I’m Sorry you are having a bad experience with it. The Turtle Beach P11 while a bit of older tech will work well with the PS3. The 7 Best Xbox One Headsets. Last year we looked at some of the best gaming headsets available on the Xbox One. Our top pick, at the time, was the Plantronics Rig Flex LX. Since then though, a number of new headsets have entered the market including the updated SteelSeries Wireless line, as well as new sets from Kingston, Polk Audio and Astro. TL;DR: These are the 7 Best Headsets for Xbox One: Plantronics Rig Flex LX (Wired) Turtle Beach Ear Force XO One (Wired) Polk Audio Striker Pro ZX (Wired) Winner: Kingston HyperX Cloud Revolver (Wired) Astro A50 (Wireless) Turtle Beach Elite 800X (Wireless) Winner: SteelSeries Siberia 800 (Wireless) At $130 MSRP, the Plantronics Rig Flex LX is on the pricier side for a stereo wired headset, but it managed to snag our top spot in our previous round-up due to its combination of comfort, excellent chat quality, and clean, well-balanced audio. You can wear this headset for hours, which you’ll want to do: even on the most bass-heavy EQ setting, lows are nice and punchy without overwhelming the mids and highs, and it’s very easy to hear both small audio details and what direction they’re coming from. The style of the Flex LX’s included controller dongle is an improvement over Microsoft’s stereo headset adapter, too. Instead of pressing buttons that show no indication of just how loud or soft you’ve made your game or your XBL party, you’ll use a knob to control the volume, and a dial to control the balance between game and chat audio. You’ll be able to see your settings at a glance. And though it doesn’t take the sting away from the price tag, the Flex LX comes with a second cable that lets you ditch the boom mic—handy for when you’re using these cans with a mobile device. If the Flex LX is too expensive for your taste, the Turtle Beach Ear Force XO One is an $80 stereo headset that offers superior performance over Microsoft’s Stereo Headset. Audio details are a touch less clear than the Plantronics Rig Flex LX, but you can still distinctly hear sounds like grunts, footfalls, and distant gunfire, as well as the direction they came from. (That’s not the case with the Stereo Headset.) You’ll also be able to hear yourself from within the headset while chatting, which allows you to better modulate how loudly you’re talking. The XO One is also very lightweight, which is nice for long gaming sessions. The only drawback to this particular set of cans is that its ear cups are on the smaller side, so if you have bigger ears, this may not be a completely comfortable fit. This is the Xbox One variant of Polk Audio's Striker Pro series. The ZX includes Microsoft's headset adapter for first generation Xbox One controllers. Anyone who picked up their console or controller late enough to have built-in 3.5mm jack on the bottom, can grab the slightly cheaper P1 instead. Otherwise, everything here is the same. Solid audio with a show-stealing microphone all for a decent price. The Kingston HyperX Cloud Revolver is Kingston's first crack at their own gaming headset. Now, I know you're probably about to cite the HyperX Cloud and Cloud II, but those were designed by a third party and modified by Kingston. The Cloud Revolver is entirely their own. At first glance the Cloud Revolver looks much more aggressive than the subtle curves of its predecessor. Underneath the gruff exterior, though, there's some pretty solid tech. $120 will get you 50mm drivers, and a detachable, noise-cancelling mic, both of which punch well above their weight. Ear cups are made with high-density memory foam to hold the speakers a bit further from your ears, opening up the audio just a bit. Overall they're an excellent, practical choice, and a worthy, albeit pricier, successor to Kingston's previous sets. Head to page 2 for the best wireless selections. © 1996-2018 Ziff Davis, LLC. What are my options to get ingame sound working on them? Plugging in the usb portion does nothing! The G430 was designed to be used more for PC's than anything else.
