6 Co-Op Games for Xbox One.
1. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.
You've come to know and love the peashooters and sunflowers of the original Plants vs. Zombies (and you've probably logged more hours with them than you care to admit). With the Xbox One, you can take this delightful tower defense game to the big screen. Play Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare online alongside other plants or as part of the zombie horde. The game will also offer an online co-op for four players, in addition to an offline split screen co-op just for the Xbox One.
Available Spring 2014 ($39.99).
2. Project Spark.
Remember when you played in the sandbox with your friends as a kid? Remember how you built beautiful castles and staged epic battles? Project Spark is that same sandbox, but rather than grains of sand, pixels are your playthings. This game lets you create whatever wild game world you want, with a unique look and your own set of rules. For co-op, you can share your creations with friends or work on the same game together.
Available for Xbox One beta January 2014.
3. Call of Duty: Ghosts.
With the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts on the new generation of consoles, the crew at Activision and Infinity Ward have made huge leaps in how you work with and against other players. The newest entry in the franchise has seven new multiplayer modes and 20 new killstreaks. Ghosts is also making a first foray into dynamic environments, so you can blow up a gas station or flood a map to change the course of a match.
Available Nov. 5, 2013 ($59.99).
4. Need for Speed Rivals.
The next generation of consoles is opening new possibilities in the world of driving games. Rather than simply push for better and better times on set courses, developers are blending single player and multiplayer driving with an open world experience. Need for Speed Rivals is one such example, and it will be available just days before the Xbox One launch. This game lets you cross into your friends' games, giving a co-op edge to the wild chases and competitions on the street.
Available Nov. 19, 2013 ($59.99).
5. Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag.
Pirates? Stealth? Multiplayer? You can have it all in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag . The multiplayer gameplay feels more like a mind game than a show of brute strength. On top of the free-for-all and team options of previous titles, Black Flag lets you team up with other players for a co-op experience in the Wolfpack mode. Outthink your enemies and strategize with your friends to stay alive.
Available Oct. 29, 2013 ($59.99).
6. Just Dance 2014.
The classic party game has been amped up thanks to the new capabilities of the Kinect controller. Up to six people can perform together in Just Dance 2014 , and they won't all be doing the same choreography. Ubisoft also added online multiplayer for the first time, so you can compete for glory on the World Dance Floor. If busting a move isn't your thing, play the part of Party Master and direct the show, posing challenges and picking new songs for the dancers.
Available Nov. 19, 2013 ($49.99).
Whether you're piled on the couch together or locking horns in an online multiplayer adventure, nothing quite compares to the fun of gaming with your friends. Thanks to the technological advances coming in the next generation of consoles, gamers will have many new co-op experiences at their fingertips this fall.
The Xbox One, which hits shelves Nov. 22, has several titles that push the bounds of what gamers can do together. From the casual to the hardcore, players of all kinds can find something to enjoy. These six titles are bringing new ideas and new multiplayer fun to the living room. Several will also be available on PC or PlayStation 4, but some are exclusive to the Microsoft camp.
What co-op titles are you most excited to play on the new Xbox?

The Best Xbox 360 Co-Op Offline Split Screen Games.
The Top Xbox Split Screen Games for Co-Op Play.
This guide is the final word on great Xbox 360 local split screen games you can play with your friends on the same console. I've made a list with brief descriptions of the games to help you pick which ones you'd like to try. I have played all these myself and definitely recommend them.
If you know of any other games not featured on this list, please share in the comment section below!
Borderlands.
These are my personal favorites. Borderlands combines first-person shooter action with role playing game character progression. Players can choose between four characters, each with their own skill tree. Players complete quests and missions, leveling up to the game's epic ending. The arsenal includes hundreds of thousands of weapons and vehicle-to-vehicle combat is intense.
Borderlands Pre-Sequel is just out, with backstory behind Borderlands 2 ’s villain, Handsome Jack. If you plan to check that one out, play the originals first!
Gears of War.
This is a great third-person shooter series that will bring you hundreds of hours of fun in either campaign or horde/versus modes. Follow the troops of Delta Squad as they make their last-ditch effort to save the planet Sera from the subterranean Locust Hordes and their mutant counterparts, the Lambent.
For good reason, the Gears of War games are among the most played on Xbox Live. Each game features cover-based combat, so players can hide behind objects to avoid gunfire. Each one also offers several different multiplayer modes, allowing players to compete against one another or team up to battle AI opponents.
Call of Duty.
This game's Zombie mode offers many hours of fun killing. Plus, if you get three others, you can do some nice multiplayer play. Don't screen-cheat!
Set in the year 2025, this is the next intsallation in the COD series. Black Ops 2 has a lot of changes and improvements that set it above the earlier episodes and make it shine. There are Zombies split screens as always, and it is possible for up to eight players to play.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Another COD. Needless to say, the new Survival or Special Ops modes are a lot of fun to play with a friend. I put over 60 hours with my friend in the first two weeks I had the game. Yes, I'm a fanboy. Kinda.
Halo Reach Split Screen.
The series that started it all for Xbox. Great co-op campaigns in military science fiction style. An interstellar war has broken out between humanity and the Covenant, a religious alliance of aliens. Combat Evolved is the first in the series and is still one of the best video games of all time.
The fantastic conclusion to the story set into motion in Combat Evolved .
Another first-person shooter game similar to Combat Evolved but with a great new addition: firefight.
From the next great stop in the Halo series, Reclaimer . This game has four-player split screen for some modes and is definitely the best in the series (in my opinion).
Left 4 Dead.
These games feature great zombie-killing fun. In split screen mode, two players can play together. In versus mode, four people can play at the same time. This is a must-have for all fans of zombie-killing. Join your friends to play as survivors in a post-Apocalyptic world. Fights hordes of diseased zombie-like people.
Left 4 Dead 2 is a sequel with five new campaigns, each with three to five separate levels, as survivors try to get to safe zones away from the diseased.
Earth Defense Force.
Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon.
This is a lower-budget series made by a Japanese company, but still a lot of fun. The Earth Defense Force must protect the planet from potentially hostile alien beings. The EDF must defend New Detroit with help from bio-engineered terrestrial insects. Players go by the name "Lightning Alpha," and lead an elite team of fighters, known as "Strike Force Lightning."
Insect Armageddon is the fourth game in the Earth Defense Force series and the first one to enable online co-op play.
Dungeon Defenders.
Dungeon Defenders is a very fun strategy Xbox Live Arcade series. The games combine tower defense, role play, and action/fantasy. With help from a band of wizards and warriors, you control a hero that fights to protect crystals from waves of goblins and other enemies. Up to four players can play split screen.
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.
Tom Clancy's series of Ghost Recon games feature shooting as part of a U.S. Special Forces unit. The games begin in Russia, but Advanced Warfighter takes place in Mexico City and features next-generation weapons, graphics, and combat mechanics. Advanced Warfighter is third in the Ghost Recon series. Players work as tactical shooters, taking cover behind objects to stay alive.
More Games to Play Co-Op.
Splinter Cell: Conviction Great stealth, third-person shooter action. Really addictive and fun. Army of Two Another shooter that's decent co-op fun. Either like it or you don't. Rainbow Six: Vegas A first-person shooter game that is really one of my favorite split screen games. Give this one a shot. Kane & Lynch A pretty horrible game, but the co-op features are a lot of fun. Resident Evil 5 The shooting isn't the greatest, but it's a pretty good game that you should try. All Zombies Must Die A Xbox live arcade game that is really fun for the price. Totally worth the download. Portal 2 Addictive and challenging puzzle game. Try this for sure. Dead Island Not a split screen game, but you can system link it with a friend for a lot of fun. Castle Crashers Xbox live arcade featuring four-player split screen with a lot of (immature) fun. Fable 3 A role playing, hack-slash type game, really fun for many hours. Resident Evil 6 In my top five favorite games. It has great horror, action, and gameplay with a pretty big campaign.
More Co-Op Xbox Games to Check Out.
Dynasty Warriors 6 A JRPG hack and slash game. Fun for those kinds of players. Tekken 6 An arcade fighting game to show you can beat up your friend. Pretty fun. Rage FPS Co-op Missions that are really fun but it'll only take a few hours to beat it all. Outfit A very cheap game that is actually very fun. Give this one a try for sure. Lost Planet 2 Third-person shooter game that is kind of annoying, but the co-op is pretty good. Dungeon Siege 3 RPG that is pretty fun if you're into RPGs; if not don't try it. Unreal Tournament 3 It has great FPS campaign that comes in different modes like CTF, TD, warfare, and many others. It also has vehicles which add a lot of fun to this game. Mortal Kombat Arcade fighting game with pretty good co-op gameplay in ladders and even online matches. The Expendables 2 Great XBL Arcade game that features four-player split screen co-op. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Great arcade fighting game that you and a friend can dominate and work together to defeat other teams around the world for great competition. Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse Has pretty fun split screen co-op, but it is very short and you'll finish within 5-6 hours and never play again. So this game would be great to rent or borrow, but definitely not buy.

Have Suggestions for a Split Screen Game You Don't See Here?
I have enjoyed Splinter Cell: Blacklist, HALO 3 ODST, and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. It seems as if splitscreen co-op is becoming obselete, sadly. I guess it probably requires more hours of additional coding and testing that don’t really pay off in terms of game sales? It’s too bad because enjoying a game when you’re really with someone is unique.
minecraft is on xbox live.
Army or Two Devils Cartel.
Hi. This is a great list. I have been looking for another game to play with my son, similar to halo. Which I know is hard to find. But this list gives a lot. But looking up ghost recon advanced warfighter on our Xbox and it says mutiplayer-online. It doesn't say local. Does this mean we can't play split screen!?
Darryl Maxwell 13 months ago.
Their is a newer EDF game called Earth Defence Force 2025. I think there is another one but I'm not sure.
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory has harder split screen stealth than conviction, but it's still fun. The only problem I have is that when you botch the job, you can't just gun everyone down like conviction. This is a pretty big problem I have, since my two sisters love to play games with me.
Age Of Booty is a very fun pirates RTS Xbox 360 Marketplace game with online multiplayer for 8 players and 4 player splitscreen multiplayer. Its only £3.40 and is compatible with Xbox One consoles.
Metacritic rating: 73/100.
Perfect Dark Zero?
Serious Sam 3 excellent splitscreen co-op game.

I would pay big money to have state of decay a two player. It's a great game, challenging and nerve racking. It trips me out when a zombie jumps on me from behind lol its crazy.

I would have liked to have seen Mercenaries 2 a split screen co op as well as Too Human.

The best game i played so far on the list would be the Left 4 Dead series.

@RainDefence LM: It doesn't have split screen capabilities. :(
RainDefence LM 4 years ago.
Dead Space 3 is another that should be added to this list. Admittedly I've not played it yet, but if it's like the previous 2 and I'm sure it will be then it's got to be worth a look.
It is great to see your game list.
@anonymous: Wooooow 56 here.
In my opion is better than fable 3 in the co-op perspective.
Well done and useful. Great Lens. You've got a little minecraft mixed in there. If you're into indies, check my.
Thanks so much for this great info! My son and I love to play XBox together. Our favorite is actually Star Wars Battlefront 2. I sure am sad they never made another game like that.

50 Best Couch Co-op Games on Xbox One.
48. No Time to Explain Remastered.
Read our review.
TinyBuild’s humorous platform-puzzler No Time to Explain Remastered is an absolute blast when played by yourself, but when another player jumps in the crazy-fun factor just goes right off the scale.
On a mission to save to save your future self, you’ll have to deal with aliens, an evil clone and whole host of devious puzzles if you want to successfully complete your task. Up to three other players can drop into the game at any time, creating what can only be described as bedlam, but the riotous fun goes a long way to scratching that couch co-op gaming itch.
47. Guns, Gore & Cannoli.
This cartoon-like side-scrolling shooter is rollicking good fun, especially when enjoyed with a co-op partner.
Set in the 1920s, you'll play as mobsters, but this is no typical tale of mafia warfare: you've got zombies to take care of. Oh yes, what's a good co-op shooter if zombies aren't involved somehow? Guns, Gore & Cannoli isn't the longest game in the world, but it packs in plenty of entertainment for you and your player 2.

The best Xbox One 'couch co-op' games.
It used to be that multi-player games were played side-by-side with a friend, sharing a console and a couch. But in the age of online multi-player, the couch co-op is still thriving, even if under the radar. They usually support one to four players and come in so many genres that there is something for everyone.
We've been screamed at by 10-year-old kids on Call of Duty, we've been sent sarcastic messages on Xbox Live for "being a scrub" in Dark Souls, the scope for trash-talking has widened exponentially with Kinect automatically broadcasting that expletive that you just hurled at the opponent that just killed you as soon as you respawned.
But the physical presence of having someone compete against you is much more tangible and exciting. Plus, you know, you're sharing a screen so it's really hard to not cheat. I mean, it's right there ! And if you lose. you already know where they live.
Have a look at what we think are some of the best local multiplayer games.
Note: Some of these games are better played with local multiplayer or designed to be played with at least two players, and we've decided to skip games where there are multiplayer modes such as Halo, Gears of War and Call of Duty.
Overcooked.
Team17 ought to feature more than once on this list, but that's because they make brilliant co-op games! Overcooked is a frantic cooking game, but I hope your wits are sharper than your knives. You (and your buddies) will have to prepare, cook and serve dishes for increasingly irate customers. As a periodical sufferer of "The Hangries" (hungry irritability), there is nothing worse than being kept waiting for food, so limber up and get serving those hungry customers! There are plenty of jobs to do in the kitchen and not nearly enough hands. As the old adage goes, too many cooks spoil the broth, but in Overcook's case too few cooks can't get the job done.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is an action game in which you and your beloved (or your co-gamer) take control of a ship, traversing a neon cosmos and manning all the battle stations yourselves. If there was ever a game that encompassed what being in a relationship is all about, Lovers In a Dangerous Spacetime is it. Team work is key, as you protect your tiny Love ship from Anti-Love. Run about the ship, activating shields and turrets as you go, keeping you and your loved one safe. If you honestly don't have anyone to play with, you can play with an AI dog. After all, isn't a dog a man's best and most loyal friend?
Neon Chrome.
Neon Chrome is a roguelike game, where you and a friend can pick a character and battle your way through many floors in order to defeat the Overseer. before doing it all over again, only this time everything is a little bit harder. Not for the faint-hearted, Neon Chrome is already a pretty brutal single player experience, even if you have collected and found some decent power-ups. Taking a buddy with you multiplies your damage output, there are plenty of lives to go round, but you'll have to bicker amongst yourselves about who gets the next upgrade. Blade Runner meets The Matrix as you transfer your consciousness into clones, establish a neural link and control their bodies to take back control of Neon Chrome, the giant man-made city-in-a-building.
The King is dead. In order to be moved to his final resting place, you and a friend can push and pull the King's funeral wagon in a physics-based puzzle platformer. Traversing multiple levels in caves and passages, the large wheels and tethers enable you to perform some cool maneuvers in order to get the King to his burial site. Watch out for looters on your journey, as they will try to pinch all the loot you've prized from the walls on your way.
Child of Light.
Child of Light is a side-scrolling, platforming RPG, with gorgeous soft graphics and a gentle soundtrack that will capture anyone's attention. Player one controls Aurora, the feathery haired heroine, taking control of attacking and exploration. Player two controls Igniculus, the support character that can reveal hidden entrances, heal Aurora in battle and stun enemies. With a story of a forgotten kingdom told in the style of a poem, this is one fairytale that shouldn't be lost to the ethers of childhood memory.
Guns, Gore and Cannoli.
Ahh the 1920's, the era of Prohibition, gang warfare and Al Capone. Guns, Gore and Cannoli is a side-scrolling shooter which is incredible fun while playing alone but even better with friends. And we don't mean 'friends' in the Al Capone sense of a dinner party assassination, but your real buddies. Vinnie is an enforcer for the mob, but you won't just be taking on mobsters. Nope, there are zombies too! With a whimsical jazz soundtrack, and more cartoon mobster baddies than you can shake a fur-lined coat at, Guns, Gore and Cannoli is a short yet fun experience that may just have you popping back for more.
Castle Crashers Remastered Edition.
Originally on Xbox 360, Castle Crashers was remastered for the Xbox One. Crash castles, save the princess and defend your kingdom. Play with up to four players, and throw yourself into zany co-op adventures. There are over 25 characters and 40 weapons to use, and various modes to test your expert castle smashing mettle. Bludgeon enemies, or set fire to them with magic. There is much more than meets the eye in Castle Crashers, offering a lengthy campaign and RPG elements to continue to level up your heroes.
Rocket League.
Who thought that cars and football would ever be a combination that works? Well, apparently, it does, and it's inexcusably huge. Lets face it, Rocket League has been nominated for over 100 Game of the Year awards. If you're still looking at the screen like you think you might need to use the bathroom over this combination, try it for yourself. Rocket League is incredible fun, even if you're not very good at it, and is a game that will undoubtedly have you swearing and shouting at the TV (and each other) like its 1989.
Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.
Here we go again, more Minecraft, yes I know. But we can't possibly refute that this is one of the best games to play locally with buddies. If you thought Minecraft was some stupid kids game, you couldn't be more wrong! It's now one of the biggest survival adventure games available. Build anything you can imagine, power it with redstone, create a stronghold and fight the monsters that come out at night. Its accessibility allows for even the youngest of players to take the controls, and players have built everything from basic shelters to massive basic electronics replicas in the Minecraft. The story really is yours to tell.
So those are some of our favorite Xbox One couch co-op games. Let us know in the comments if we've left your favorite out!
