GamesRadar+ The best Xbox One limited edition controllers. Two years in, and Xbox One is finally hitting the 'new models' stage of the console evolution cycle. There are versions with bigger hard drives, nifty solid state replacements, even one that makes engine noises when you turn it on. And yet in the realm of limited edition controllers, Microsoft has been doing this since (literally) Day One. Even the standard controller you're looking at above is now technically a limited edition, having been replaced with a new version with a regular audio jack and some minor internal tweaks. Here's every one of the Xbox One's official spin-off pads. Looks like: The steering wheel to some kind of vehicle that hasn't yet been invented. This is the big one, Microsoft's foray into the pro gaming peripheral market. The Elite controller is pretty special - it'd have to be for a $150 price tag - already garnering 'best controller ever' type praise. For a start, it's clearly more expensively made than its plastic brethren. It also comes with 3 sets of analog sticks, interchangeable D-pads, hair trigger controls and back paddles. You might never start playing, however, because snapping all the magnetic pieces on and off is so satisfying, like you're an awe-filled baby-person again. Here's a full run-down of its features for you. Master Chief. Looks like: "John-117", by Pablo Picasso. Released in conjunction with Halo 5: Guardians, this is one of two controllers celebrating the game's dual heroes. The Chief edition comes in camo green, with a touch of burnt gold class on the D-Pad, and may pass as ID on some of the more relaxed military bases. Agent Locke. Looks like: Blueprints for a funky new library. And here's the other Halo 5 tie-in. Locke's a more advanced Spartan than Chief, and his cobalt-streaked controller is meant to reflect that. It's partly down to those clean lines and harsh geometry, but also because the thing's covered in dots and numbers that are probably part of some immense ARG. Lunar White. Looks like: Something a '60s spaceman would wear, throw, or eat with. Part of the new wave of Xbox controllers with 3.5mm audio jacks, the Lunar White is sort of understated but with a fancy glam streak. That D-Pad is a clue, but flip it over and you'll find gleaming golden triggers, too, like you're some kind of hip Donald Trump. Looks like: A tiny race track for baby mouse cars. Modelled after the 2017 Ford GT on the front of the Forza 6 box, this also comes packed in with a correspondingly coloured limited edition console. It also comes with a grippy textured back shell - presumably partly for car-like effect, but also because people like me play racing games really violently and might throw our controllers into a wall during a chicane. Armed Forces. Looks like: Some hunters get really bored while waiting for deer to pass by. Look, I'm not really sure why you'd need your controller to look like an army man or lady's gear. Maybe you are an army man or lady and like to accessorise. Maybe you play games in a bush. I don't know but by god if I don't have the gamepad for you. Covert Forces. OK, maybe you don't play games in a bush, but you do play them lying down, unseen in the middle of the road. Booya! Midnight Forces. Looks like: The last one, and the one before that. A cloudless night. The full moon hangs full and heavy. You can almost feel its gravity, pulling stronger tonight. Pulling you towards games. But no one can know. No one can find out that you play games outside on nights like these. You pull out your special edition Midnight Forces Xbox One controller. Thank the gods Microsoft released this appropriately-coloured pad. You are safe, once again. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Looks like: A schoolchild's exercise book. But a schoolchild at a school for WAR and GUNS. Another controller released alongside a themed console, this one's meant to reflect the worn and personalised exoskeletons belonging to its yelling, blasting characters. Scattered among the metalling D-Pad and insignia decals are little human touches - tally chart notches, some smiley face graffiti tucked around the side, that kind of thing. Someone tried to tell a story using a controller, which I think is quite sweet. Note: This is the old version of the Xbox One controller, with no 3.5mm audio jack. Looks like: Someone didn't know how to turn custom Photoshop brushes off, but just went with it. Hexagons! Stripes! Serial numbers! You are in the future now, you know because your controller says so. This vibrant little thing came along with the sadly undersubscribed shooter, and has the weird distinction of being ever so slightly smoother to the touch than any other Xbox One pad, which makes it feel a tad uncanny. Maybe it did come from the future, where plastics are glossier. Who knows? Note: This is the old version of the Xbox One controller, with no 3.5mm audio jack. Looks like: A sad Stormtrooper. This palette-swapped original controller might be the most expensive of all of this entire list to buy, weirdly. That's because it's only available as part of the white console bundle released in conjunction with Sunset Overdrive - if you really want a white controller, I suggest either the gaudier Lunar White model, or a set of acrylic paints and a big brush. Note: This is the old version of the Xbox One controller, with no 3.5mm audio jack. Looks like: The most hideous Vault-Tec experiment of all, turning humans into nub-covered (but oddly useful) monstrosities. This is a weird controller. Not only is it the only official Xbox One controller to come wired, it also has a button that no other pad has - that little glowing nub next to the right stick toggles audio controls attached to D-Pad presses. Originally, it was only available through Bethesda's official store to celebrate Fallout 4's release - by now, you'll probably only find it on Ebay for exorbitant prices. Looks like: A regular controller with a bit of writing on it. Early adopters of the Xbox One got the singular privilege of some robot spray painting a block of words on the middle of their pad, and a slightly shinier chrome D-pad. This will probably net them some serious bucks from a collector in a few decades. Strange old world. Note: This is the old version of the Xbox One controller, with no 3.5mm audio jack. Love the nice scratch marks on the controller. Just about everything about it is great except for one single thing, the Xbox guide button is not popped out like normal controllers. This makes it a bit hard to press the button and makes it a bit difficult when you're trying to take a 30 sec video or screenshot. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful. Outstanding. Bought the 2TB GOW4 Edition last year as a present to myself. Comes with the Blood Omen controller. To this day I still get compliments on it. Love everything about it. So comfortable and the scratch marks are such a great touch. Will be getting the COG one soon to finish the collection. One person found this helpful. Great controller don't even bother reading the 1 star rates here because they don't even make sense. One person found this helpful. Everything but the cord. I love everything about it. it looks sweet handles well, relative to my 360 controller, glad they fixed the d-pad. The only thing it is missing is a wired option, even if it was just a black cable; however; ideally the cable should be red. I know its an easy cable but for me as a collage student going to the store to buy a cable is a pain. Microsoft should actually offer the product insted of telling us to wored gamers to go find your own cable, some of which I hear are no compatible. One person found this helpful. Cheap looking. Blue isn't a chrome blue doesn't look as nice as in picture. Mine was damaged on arrival as well. these controllers are hugely overpriced and the quality is not there. 2 out of 5 people found this helpful. Great Controller. Nice controller. Looks Great and handles very well. Worth the price! Got this controller for Christmas and the RB button broke 6 months later, good work Microsoft:). My issue was resolved though, they sent me another controller for free but it ended up being the red Gears of war controller, not the blue. I kept it and I like it even more and it looks way better than the blue. Bad for first time user. New to Xbox One and so far very frustrated. I won't go into my issues with the console experience but this GoW 4 controller is horrible for me. I can barely see the markings on the buttons in good lighting, but I want my room dark for best gaming experience therefore IMPOSSIBLE to see the markings in low light. So basically, I have to memorize the controller layout before I play with it, or turn on a bright lamp next to me. Why can't the button markings glow or illuminate? This controller costs more than enough to make that happen. At the very least, you can make the markings RED on black buttons like the home button! Would that have been so hard?? With Halo 5: Guardians launching on Xbox One, we've all got Halo fever. And sometimes the only cure for Halo fever is to buy more Halo stuff. With that in mind, Microsoft has kindly released a pair of Halo 5 Limited Edition Wireless Xbox One Controllers. One controller is themed after Master Chief, traditional protagonist the Halo series, while the other features a design based on Halo 5's new antihero Spartan Locke. Each comes with a download code for a unique REQ Pack and Visor accessory in the main Halo 5 game. Watch us put both controllers under the microscope in our detailed review with video. Packaging, inserts, and DLC. The Halo 5 Limited Edition controllers each come in a unique decorative box, not unlike the Titanfall Limited Edition Controller's box. The Master Chief controller box mentions the Master Chief's name, whereas the Spartan Locke controller box does not mention Locke's name. Presumably that owes to Locke being a new character in Halo 5 rather than an established one. Master Chief appears on the front of his box, and also in profile on the rear of that box. The same profile shot shows up on Locke's box but paired with a profile of Locke as well – the ultimate stare down. Inside each box, you get the controller, 2 standard AA batteries, a double-sided insert describing both controllers, and a DLC card. Each DLC card contains a code for a unique REQ pack that only comes with that specific controller. The REQ pack consists of five REQ cards, one of which is an Ultra Rare item. The Master Chief controller's pack gets you the Dauntless visor, whereas the Locke controller's pack includes the Resolute visor. Visors appear on your character in Halo's Arena and Warzone competitive multiplayer modes. They're barely visible during gameplay, but they do offer a nice touch of customization when looking at the larger profile images of your character. Master Chief Controller. The front and sides of the Master Chief controller come in a fetching textured green color based on Master Chief's Halo 5 armor. These portions feature laser-etched detail lines (meaning they are actually cut into the controller) and several areas painted dark gray. Etched honeycomb patterns adorn the front of the handgrips – these hexagons show up on Master Chief's actual armor in Halo 5. The UNSC (United Nations Space Command) logo appears on white between the standard black View and Menu buttons. Both sides have a single red triangle pointing towards the face of the controller. The tops of the analog sticks are dark green, matching the rest of the controller. The neck and base of the analog sticks are black though, like those of a standard Xbox One controller. The Forza 6 controller used a similar effect, but with blue tops instead of green. On both cases, the designers likely kept the black parts to make the tops stand out more. Standing out even more than the analog sticks are the Master Chief controller's d-pad and analog triggers. The d-pad features a gold chrome finish and the triggers, while not chrome, still come in shiny gold. The Halo controllers are only the second Xbox One controllers to include colored triggers, following the Forza 6 controller. The four primary face buttons (X, Y, A, and B) are black with green letters. The traditional colors for those buttons appear as colored triangles below and left of the buttons. That should help reduce confusion when playing games that require knowledge of the standard button colors. The back portion of the controller is black, just like with most standard controllers (and even special ones like the Titanfall and Special Forces controllers). The battery compartment has a unique touch, though – six etched dots represent the numbers 117 (Master Chief's Spartan Tag) in Braille. This same dot pattern appears on John-117's armor in some Halo games. The top portion of the controller comes in glossy black plastic, as with most Xbox One controllers. The glossy plastic shows smudges and fingerprints very easily; I wish Microsoft would go with matte plastic instead. Spartan Locke controller. This controller is a bit less recognizably based on Halo, but only because Spartan Jameson Locke first appears in the recent Halo: the Master Chief Collection and Halo 5 games. The front and sides of this controller come in a sleek textured silver color based on Spartan Locke's Halo 5 armor. The Locke controller still features plenty of laser-etched details, including a honeycomb pattern (in a different shape) on the front hand grips. Some of the laser etched portions are painted slightly darker silver, but the effect might be too subtle for some users to notice. A dark gray UNSC logo appears above the left analog stick. A series of dots – some silver and some gray – show up between and to the right of the Menu and View buttons. The number 10282558 sits to the right of the face buttons. Rather than one of the Spartan's service numbers, the number seems to represent the date 10/28/2558. A bit obscure there, Microsoft. The four main face buttons, View, and Menu are all gray with dark gray labels. The Locke controller is the second one to have colored View and Menu buttons, after the Forza 6 controller. Colored triangles appear directly above the face buttons – a different position than on the Master Chief controller. The analog sticks are entirely dark gray here, making this the first Xbox One controller with no black on its analog sticks. The back of the controller and battery share the same dark gray color. No Braille designs on this battery cover. The top portion of the controller matches the rest closely, as it uses dark gray glossy plastic. All firsts for an Xbox One controller. The d-pad here is painted chrome blue. A subtle pattern of three slashes occupies the right direction on the d-pad. How long will the chrome and slashes last under regular use? Probably not forever, but hopefully a good while. Six blue lines of metallic paint appear on the controller's face as well – Locke's armor features similar blue accents. The analog triggers are a dark but shiny silver. They look lovely, but I'd still have preferred blue to match the d-pad. The Master Chief's controller's triggers catch the eye better. The right side of Locke's controller has five different Halo emblems painted in dark gray. The left side has four Spartan call signs in dark gray as well: F-104, J-117, K-087, and L-058. Oddly, these are the call signs of Master Chief's Halo 5 team, not Locke's. I guess they represent a checklist of Locke's enemies or something, but Locke's call signs would have made more immediate sense. Prepare for the showdown. Both Halo 5 controllers do a great job of capturing the looks of the characters they represent. The Locke controller comes across as more neutral, but only because Spartan Locke has yet to become an iconic character in the way that Master Chief has. These green and silver controllers are among the most beautiful to grace the Xbox One to date, especially thanks to their chrome d-pads and colored triggers. Should you buy a Halo 5 controllers even though it costs $10 more than a standard controller's retail price? If you're a Halo fan, I say yes. You get a memorable controller, a piece of unique DLC for halo 5, and an attractive box to stick on a shelf somewhere. These controllers also feature the 3.5mm headset jacks and improved bumper buttons that debuted in June 2015, which should help justify the upgrade for anyone stuck with an older controller. Like the Titanfall controller, the Halo 5 controllers really are limited edition. I suspect the Locke controllers will stick around retail longer than the Master Chief version, but they'll still disappear eventually. Grab one or both controllers and you'll be ready to celebrate Halo 5 in style. Note that the Spartan Locke controller also comes with the Halo 5 Limited Edition Xbox One console, so owners of that controller won't need to purchase it separately. “EAGLE” LIMITED XBOX ONE S MODDED CONTROLLER. Product Description. “EAGLE” LIMITED XBOX ONE S MODDED CONTROLLER. Our Xbox One S modded controllers are the most advanced you will find with all the features you need to dominate online. We have packed this controller with all the tools you need for now and the future. Product Description. MOD PACKS INCLUDE. Rapid FIre. Rapid fire is referred to in “shots per second”, meaning, how many bullets you can shoot per second. Many different factors can affect the performance of your rapidfire controller, including your console (newer models have more power and RAM), the quality of your internet connection, and whether or not you are the current host of the match. COD Advanced Warfare, Titanfall, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4,Black Ops 2, Grand Theft Auto V, Gears of War: Judgement, Modern Warfare 3, Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, Black Ops, MW2, Call of Duty 4, World at War, Medal of Honor, Halo 3, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, GTA IV. Burst Fire. Burst rapidfire is the same as standard rapidfire, except it will shoot in “bursts”. Burst Rapid Fire can turn any semi-automatic gun into a “military style” bursting rifle. For example, when using a single-fire semi-auto rifle such as the FAL, you can simulate the burst firing that is found on the M16. Each Mode also has an independent burst fire setting. which can be programmed from 2-10 shot per burst. When using the burst fire each time you pull the trigger you will fire you programmed number of round allowing you to better concentrate your fire and conserve ammo. Compatible Games: Advanced Warfare Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Ghosts, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Black Ops, Call of Duty 4. Normally, with both pistols in your hands, you have to pull both the left and the right triggers to fire both pistols, which is cumbersome. But when Akimbo mode is enabled, you can rapid fire both pistols at the same time just by holding down your fire-weapon button. Akimbo eliminates the need to press both buttons, and it adds the power of rapidfire to your pistols. Akimbo mode is absolutely deadly at close range. Call of Duty: ADVANCED WARFARE, Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Black Ops 2, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Black Ops, MW2, Call of Duty 4, World at War, Medal of Honor, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Left 4 Dead 2. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Black Ops 2, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Black Ops, MW2, Call of Duty 4, World at War, Medal of Honor, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Left 4 Dead 2. (Does not currently work with COD AW and Ghosts) The Jitter firing takes advantage of a glitch in most Call of Duty games which allows for faster firing than allowed by normal rapid fire. While this firing is faster you cannot remain scoped while firing, making every shot a hip shot. This is great for up close fighting but not for long distance accuracy. The Glitch that allows this mod to work has been removed on COD Ghosts but the features has been left in for future COD games or re-releases of older versions. Jitter Sub Modes – With our V3 Mod you now have options for XYY, XYY(black Ops 2 Special) or just YY Jitter. Compatible Games: all Call of Duty games except AW, Ghosts, MW3. Drop Shot – When drop shot is enabled you player will drop to the ground (prone) as soon as you start to fire and stand back up when you stop automatically. No need to hold any buttons, just fire as normal. Includes support Tactical Layout Drop shot (Right Thumb Click) in addition to standard layout (B). Drop shot sub modes – You now have options to drop/stand automatically, Drop and manually stand and options to cancel dropping if you are aiming down sights. Compatible Games: COD Advanced Warfare, Titanfall, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Black Ops 2, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty 4, World at War. Earlier this week, Microsoft finally opened preorders for its upcoming flagship console, the Xbox One X. Despite being officially unveiled over two months ago as a part of E3 2017, orders for the device were held while awaiting approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Now, after being officially certified and cleared for trade, Microsoft is now letting eager buyers to lay down cash ahead of time, to guarantee a console for the November 7 launch. When preorders were announced as a part of Microsoft's Gamescom 2017 live show, the company also unveiled a Project Scorpio special edition variant of the console. This limited-run serves as a bonus for fans who've followed the console's development over the past year, with a distinct aesthetic from the standard black version. Following the announcement of the console, we were given the opportunity to get hands-on, providing an idea of what to expect from the device this fall. Upon first glance, the most outstanding trait of the Project Scorpio console's design is its sharp green branding, which pays homage to the console's previous Project Scorpio codename. When the concept for what became the Xbox One X was initially teased, Microsoft referred to the device under the Scorpio tag, which eventually stuck with consumers leading up to this year's reveal. While the Xbox One X name will be used exclusively going forward, this unique branding is a nice throwback for those who followed the console from the very beginning. Unlike the standard SKU, which is only offered in a simple textured matte black at this time, this version of the console features a gradual gradient into a dark gray. The protruding gray gradient is comprised of small painted circles and without any top cooling vents of the top of the device, this smoothly transitions across the console's body. This asymmetry to the console's design is a discreet touch but adds a unique styling to the body without compromising its sleek aesthetic. A unique Xbox One controller design also ships with the Project Scorpio edition, bearing similar branding to the console itself. The green Project Scorpio text falls vertically down the middle of the controller, on a smooth black faceplate. All buttons, the directional pad, and thumb sticks are also tinted with a deep black. As one of the recently revised Xbox One S controllers, this variant sports mildly textured grips and Bluetooth connectivity. All Project Scorpio edition units additionally ship alongside a vertical stand, allowing the console to safely sit upright, despite its offset form factor. For the price of a regular Xbox One X console you'll be getting a vertical stand for no extra cost, however, it has no unique design to match the gray side of the console it sits against. Xbox platform Corporate Vice President, Mike Ybarra, has confirmed this stand will also be available for purchase separately, similarly to the stand for Xbox One S. As for the hardware under the hood – the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition is unchanged from the standard version of the console. Right now, a 1TB hard drive is the only size of internal storage available across consoles, assumedly due to support for third-party external hard drives. Driving the console are eight CPU cores clocked at 2.3GHz, 12GB of GDDR5 RAM and a GPU packing 40 Radeon compute units running at 1172 MHz. This gives existing Xbox One games a fair amount of overhead while allowing specific "Xbox One X Enhanced" games to achieve improved visuals. For those looking to purchasing an Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition, the console appears to have sold out across a majority of big retailers. While certain storefronts are still securing additional stock and re-opening preorders, you may need to look further afield to secure one of the devices for launch day. Microsoft will assumedly open pre-orders for regular versions of the console later down the line, however exact details are yet to be provided. What do you think of the new Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition? Do you like the new design? Or would you prefer the simple matte black console? Make sure to drop your thoughts in the comments.
