L.A. Noire Announced for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, VR Edition Revealed.
Rockstar Games has announced that L.A. Noire will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One, as well as via a VR experience that pulls from the original game.
This updated version of the 2011 game will be released on November 14 across all announced systems. The Switch version features the full original game, all of its DLC, and Switch-specific adjustments like optional Joy-Con gyroscopic and motion controls, as well as HD rumble, and wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles. For those playing in handheld mode, new contextual touch screen controls have also been added for this edition.
This release will make L.A. Noire the first Rockstar Games title to appear on Switch.
L.A. Noire on the PS4 and Xbox One, meanwhile, will also feature the full base game and all of its DLC, as well as "a range of technical enhancements for greater visual fidelity and authenticity, including enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles, high resolution textures and more."
The game will run natively in 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One, with 4K visuals for players on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
Rockstar will also release L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for the HTC Vive headset. This collection pares down the original game to focus solely on seven of the cases from L.A. Noire, "rebuilt specifically for virtual reality."
Rockstar's L.A. Noire puts players in the role of detective Cole Phelps in the midst of post-World War II 1940's Los Angeles, working as him to investigate a number of cases inspired by analogous real-world events.
At the time of its original release, IGN's review of L.A. Noire gave the game an 8.5, saying that the sprawling adventure features "amazing pieces that don't quite amount to an incredible game. but it's something everyone must try out. It reaches high and almost succeeds as a brilliant new type of video game narrative."
Rockstar had, following the original game's release, said an L.A. Noire sequel was a possibility, but the franchise never continued. L.A. Noire's development studio Team Bondi closed shortly after the game's release. In the wake of the game's debut, allegations arose about what caused the game's seven-year development process.

Rockstar Games today made a big and unexpected announcement about its 2011 investigation game LA Noire: it's coming to many new platforms this November. The 1940s-set game will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 14, while it's also coming to Nintendo Switch. Not only that, but a modified version of the crime game will be available on that date in virtual reality on HTC Vive in a package called LA Noire: The VR Case Files.
LA Noire for PS4 and Xbox One comes with the full version of the original game and all DLC, along with expected updates such as better graphics. This includes "enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles, high resolution textures, and more." The game will output at native 1080p for PS4 and Xbox One, and in 4K on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
LA Noire was developed by Australian studio Team Bondi. However, that developer has since closed. Rockstar did not say which team or teams made the new versions of the game. We've contacted the publisher for comment and will update this post with anything we hear back. For its part, Rockstar said is will have more details to share on the new versions of LA Noire "in the weeks ahead," so keep checking back soon for more.
LA Noire originally launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in May 2011, before coming to PC in November of that year. You play as LA police detective Cole Phelps, who was performed by Mad Men actor Aaron Staton. Among the cases you investigate is the horrifying Black Dahlia murders. GameSpot's LA Noire review scored it a 9/10. For more on Rockstar's LA Noire announcements today, check out the stories below:

This would be awesome R*
I really want to play it!
Yes Please. Also Rockstar if you guys were smart you'd remaster Gta 3, Vice city, San Andreas, and Vice city + liberty city stories. YOU'D MAKE BANK OF THE REMASTERS! all you need to do is update the graphics, the stories in each game are fantastic as is! but hey what do i know,

Honestly, the last thing Rockstar needs to worry about is making more bank. GTA V is liyerally like a printing press for money for Rockstar. So it makes more sense for Rockstar to keep up development of GTA V (new online modes, etc.) than it would be for them to concentrate on making remasters of thier old games. Plus they have new games in development. Read Dead 2 and no doubt GTA VI is already being developed to some extent. What they should do is outsource the remasters of those games to other studio's. That way they can continue on as they have been without needing to divert resources away from GTA V, Read Dead 2, etc.

L.A. Noire hits Xbox One this November – 4K on Xbox One X.
Rockstar Games has announced that its renowned detective thriller, L.A. Noire, is hitting Xbox One later this year. Over six years since its original release back in 2011, the neo-noir action-adventure game is being remastered for current generation consoles, with special improvements in store for Xbox One X.
Among the enhancements of the new version, Xbox One owners will be treated to a resolution bump to native 1080p, alongside updated textures and reworked lighting. Furthermore, those picking up the Xbox One X will also be in for a treat – the game will hit store shelves shortly after the console's launch at 4K resolution.
Taking place in 1940's Los Angeles, L.A. Noire follows Cole Phelps, a detective, and member of the LAPD, on a series of cases across the district. Drawing heavy influence from films of the era in both its themes and presentation, the game provided a relatively unique premise, especially from a high-profile publisher like Rockstar. At the time, the game was also praised for its take on facial animation, which filters heavily into interrogation mechanics as a detective.
L.A. Noire for Xbox One is currently scheduled to release on November 14, bundling together both the base game and all post-launch downloadable content. Although specific pricing for the game is yet to be disclosed, it's safe to assume this will be a full-price $60 launch.
With the Xbox One X releasing only seven days prior, LA Noire for Xbox One should be a welcome sight to see for many. Are you planning to pick up the game? Let us know in the comments.
L.A. Noire Xbox One review: An excellent police procedural in a lackluster remaster.
Even years later, it remains one of the best police procedurals ever made. The story contains depth and nuance, and the gameplay outside of the third-person shooting is creative and thoughtful. However, the remastered version falls short of what we've come to expect from other such projects as the boost in visuals isn't as substantial. Aside from some of the problems which plagued the Xbox 360 game, L.A. Noire is a great addition to the Xbox One catalog as newcomers will cherish the experience.
Background and story.
L.A. Noire is a violent crime thriller set in the city of Los Angeles. The game takes place close to 1940 and accurately captures the essence of the era. Gameplay revolves around exploring the city, patrolling the streets, arresting criminals, and solving crime in the third-person perspective. Hollywood is in its Golden Age, and just like any such boom, it breeds numerous problems alongside stupendous success. Players step into the shoes of Cole Phelps, a Los Angeles Police Department detective, who has to not only solve cases and get promoted, but also unravel a larger conspiracy involving a series of arsons.
The game deals with mature topics like widespread corruption, an exploding drug trade, and skyrocketing murder rates. Aside from the arsons, Phelps must uncover the truth behind various racketeering conspiracies and brutal killings. However, it's not that simple, the corruption encompasses the Los Angeles underworld and parts of the police department. In many ways, Phelps' struggle is a fight against the entire system.
L.A. Noire deals with mature topics like widespread corruption, an exploding drug trade, and skyrocketing murder rates.
Phelps is a World War II veteran and his connections and experiences during the brutal war play an important role in the plot. Numerous individuals from his past — as well as his actions — shape the lengthy L.A. Noire story even after its explosive ending. The game does a great job of tying everything together even though initially it may seem like an unrelated element. Corruption in the city isn't the only topic explored here. How power and success affect individuals, no matter which side of the law they're on, is a central theme which has tragic consequences for many characters.
Investigative gameplay.
One of the highlights of the game has to be the interrogation of suspects. In the original, players could choose to believe individuals or doubt their testimony. The outcome of each case depended on selecting the right option by analyzing how characters reacted during questioning. Determining if a suspect was lying or telling the truth, or if a witness was hiding crucial information, dramatically changed your understanding of events.
Just like any police procedural, L.A. Noire features thrilling chases, shootouts, and detective work. Instead of simply handing you all the pieces of the puzzle, it requires you to immerse yourself further in the story by analyzing each encounter. Just like Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter, the title tasks you with finding clues and following up with various individuals. For example, to track down the owner of a revolver, you have to note down its serial number and then go to the gun store and examine their ledger. The game is filled with many tasks like this which get more complicated the further you progress. Many of the cases are inspired by brutal crimes and conspiracies from 1947 Los Angeles. It was no doubt one of the most corrupt and violent times in the city's history and it shows. This adds another layer of authenticity to further draw you in.
L.A. Noire features thrilling chases, shootouts, and surprisingly authentic detective work.
In the original Xbox 360 version, the game gave players three options when questioning suspects. You had to select between "Truth", "Doubt" and "Lie" based on what you heard. However, these options didn't quite match what Phelps would do. Selecting Truth caused the protagonist to adopt the stereotypical "good cop" routine while Doubt caused him to come across as a "bad cop". Unsurprisingly, Lie was quite bizarre because it would cause Phelps to spew out baseless accusations. This resulted in interrogation sequences becoming more of a guessing game because you never knew if your character would react erratically.
Rockstar Games noticed this and in the remaster the developer renamed the three options to "Good Cop", "Bad Cop", and "Accuse". This is more in line with what Phelps says but it's still not completely clear. This also changes up gameplay because now you're selecting an interrogation technique rather than making an outright judgment on a testimony. This is quite possibly the biggest improvement the remastered version has received because it makes gameplay more understandable.
