Mit großer Sicherheit werden einige Neuauflagen bekannter Spielreihen dabei sein. Zum Release einer neuen Konsole stand bisher immer auch ein neues Forza auf der Liste. So wird es voraussichtlich auch dieses Jahr wieder die Rennspielfans vor die Konsole locken, denn Forza Motorsport 7 wäre mehr als nur ein logischer Schritt. Weiterhin hat Microsoft mit Halo Wars 2 bereits ein weiteres Spiel aus der Halo-Reihe veröffentlicht. Auf State of Decay 2 und Crackdown 3 können sich die Fans auch schon freuen. Ein Releasetermin steht zwar noch nicht fest, aber spätestens zur E3 im Juni diesen Jahres werden wir hier mehr wissen. Vielleicht sind dies ja auch zwei weitere Launchtitel für die Scorpio? Aber auch das Entwicklerstudio Rare hat noch ein neues Franchise in Planung. In Sea of Thieves taucht der Spieler in eine karibische Inselwelt ab, um die Weltmeere als Pirat unsicher zu machen. Ihr ahnt es, auch hier steht noch kein Releasetermin fest, dass es dieses Jahr noch kommt, ist aber sicher. Soviel zu den bereits angekündigten Titeln. Wer mitgezählt hat, der fragt sich jetzt sicher, was da noch so kommen kann, schließlich spricht Phil Spencer in seinem Tweet von einer großen Auswahl und Diversität. Nun ja – es gibt da noch ein Entwicklerstudio, das bisher unerwähnt bleibt – Decisive Games, das zu den Microsoft Game Studios gehört. Bereits im Jahr 2015 hat das Studio nach Mitarbeitern für ein ‚geliebtes Strategiespiel‘ gesucht. Nach zwei Jahren wäre man hier also auch einmal wieder an der Reihe. Doch von welchem Strategiespiel ist hier die Rede? Wenn man sich das Line-Up der vergangenen Jahre anschaut, dann kann man davon ausgehen, dass Age Of Empires gemeint ist. Das wird aber sicherlich noch nicht alles gewesen sein, worauf wir uns als Zocker freuen können. Denn wenn Phil Spencer etwas verspricht, dann kann man davon ausgehen, dass dies auch eintreffen wird. Und so großmundig mehr Exklusivtitel als im Vorjahr anzukündigen und dann nur ein Spiel mehr zu bringen, passt einfach nicht zu ihm. Es bleibt also abzuwarten, was Microsoft noch plant. Gerade in Bezug auf die Scorpio wissen wir bisher noch gar nichts. Demnach kann auch bisher nichts zu geplanten Launchtiteln gesagt werden. But before you plunge in, don't dismiss a whole genre of games which you might be tempted to overlook on account of them not being 'new'. We're talking, of course, about "remastered" games: titles from the last generation of consoles or even earlier which have been given glossy remakes. Some are straight remakes, some bundle together a collection of games, allowing you to play through a series in one nostalgic burst, and some also throw in DLC for the completist's dream package. Ready to revisit a few classics? Here are 13 of the most essential remastered games available on PlayStation 4 and/or Xbox One right now, all of which get the Stuff stamp of approval. Shadow of the Colossus (PS4) First released on PlayStation 2, this cult favourite was then upgraded to HD for the PS3 - and has now been buffed up all over again with HDR and a 4K resolution. It's easily the best-looking edition of what was already an awe-inspiring game. Skipped out on Shadow until now? It's a simple story: your beau is dead, and to revive her you must trek across a vast and barren land, killing the 16 monumental beasts that inhabit it. Somewhere between slaying your first and last achingly grandiose Colossus, you’ll likely realise you're not the good guy in this story. But, hey ho, these monsters ain’t gonna top themselves. Such a touching, thoughtful parable changed what perceptions of a game could be over a decade ago, and even today, few indie-minded titles can match it for sheer scale. Even if its awkward controls, occasionally nightmarish camera and oft-repetitive boss fights remain. Basically, everything that made Shadow both rapturously lauded and reasonably divisive remains in place with this remaster. That's a credit to the job developer Bluepoint has done dragging Team ICO’s original into the present day, with a stunning array of reimagined lighting, textures and effects that bring an old game to life all over again. Beneath that glorious sheen, the wizened hallmarks of an aging classic remain. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (PS4) It's been almost 20 years since the last great Crash Bandicoot adventure, so we'd almost forgotten how great the first three were back in the PSone's day. Fortunately, the N. Sane Trilogy is here to remind us – and it proves that the ol' orange guy still can entertain today. The N. Sane Trilogy packs in Naughty Dog's classic trio of 3D platformers, but instead of just giving them the usual widescreen and HD support, these games have been visually rebuilt from the original code – so they play the same, but they look like lush cartoons. Games from that era don't always hold up this well, but this is a remaster done incredibly well. But be warned: it's also really, really tough. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (PS4/XB1) Even after a decade of increasingly grandiose Call of Duty games, 2007's Modern Warfare remains the best of the pack – so it's a good thing you can play it on current consoles with all of the modern bells and whistles attached (pun intended, of course). Modern Warfare brings back the tense campaign mode, which still delights even if it doesn't surprise on repeat plays, plus the seminal boots-on-the-ground multiplayer action serves as a welcome respite from the futuristic shenanigans of Infinite Warfare . This remaster comes bundled with Infinite Warfare 's deluxe editions and was just released as a standalone game for PS4, with a standalone Xbox One version to follow. Grand Theft Auto V (PS4/XB1) Grand Theft Auto V is one of the most spectacular games ever created, and it's even better on new-gen consoles. The Xbox One and PS4 versions amplify the open-world classic with greatly improved visuals, and make the whole experience more engaging via the addition of an optional first-person perspective. Even the radio stations add another 100+ songs to the mix. That's all just icing atop a spectacular core experience, but it makes the game well worth playing through again. The Last of Us Remastered (PS4) We once picked The Last of Us as the greatest PlayStation game of all time, across six platforms and 20 years worth of amazing experiences. Seriously. Need we say more here? OK, we will. Naughty Dog proved itself a master of cinematic action with Uncharted , but The Last of Us takes it to the next level with an incredible world and mature, brilliantly acted storytelling. Remastered refines the PS3 visuals and improves the frame rate – very welcome improvements – and bundles in the heartbreaking Left Behind add-on campaign. Halo: The Master Chief Collection (XB1) Before Halo 5: Guardians rolled around, Microsoft decided to bring not one, not two, not three, but all four earlier series entries to Xbox One with sharpened graphics. It's an almost hilarious amount of content in one package, considering four full games and every bit of DLC from over the years – we're talking 100+ multiplayer maps, all of which can be played online. If you've enjoyed the series in the slightest, you'd be nuts to pass up The Master Chief Collection . That's especially true since Halo 5 wasn't all that memorable. BioShock: The Collection (PS4/XB1) BioShock is an absolute legend in gaming, and the sequels are almost as strong – and now you can experience all three of them on your current console with BioShock: The Collection . The original is still the essential game in the batch as you're introduced to Rapture, a grim underwater city filed with genetically-modified freaks and armored beasts alike. BioShock 2 's main game isn't as brilliant, but the included Minerva's Den add-on is a fabulous gut-punch of a mini-campaign – and then BioShock Infinite , with its dazzling sky city of Columbia, is a fine finale. No shooter series matches BioShock for atmosphere, and that's especially true with the extra HD bump. WipEout Omega Collection (PS4/XB1) WipEout has always looked amazing, even back on the PSone, due to incredible art direction, but it's only improved with each new hardware advance – so we're stoked to be able to play the Omega Collection on PS4 Pro in 4K with HDR support. Of course, the game's a stunner and incredibly fun even on the standard PS4, as this collection bundles together the excellent Wipeout HD and Fury from PS3 alongside Wipeout 2048 from Vita, giving you a massive compilation of anti-gravity raving to savour. Let's keep fingers crossed that we don't have to wait 'til PlayStation 5 to get a brand new one. Metro Redux (PS4/XB1) Finding its niche in the space between typical first-person shooters and stealth-action affairs, the Metro series is quietly powerful – plus it's based on a Russian novel, and primarily takes place within post-apocalyptic Moscow's subway system. Metro 2033 and sequel Metro: Last Light are different-feeling games, but this remastered bundle offers a very cool perk: the ability to play each game with the other's gameplay approach, if desired. That shakes up the original experiences, and everything is much nicer-looking too, of course. And with Metro Exodus on the horizon, now's the time to dig in. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (PS4) Yes, the brilliant Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is also available on PS4, but that's doesn't dampen how fantastic of a package this is. The Nathan Drake Collection compiles all three of the PS3's Uncharted games' campaigns in a single bundle, delivering hours and hours of high-intensity action. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves remains the high point of the last-gen games and easily one of the greatest PlayStation exclusives of all time, while Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is almost as strong and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is… well, it's pretty good, but not quite as polished or memorable. In any case, you can find this one for less than £25 now, which is a deal almost as spectacular as one of the games' famous set pieces. Play it through before tackling Uncharted 4 . Resident Evil (PS4/XB1) Capcom's been pretty aggressive over the years with re-releasing Resident Evil games, but a remaster of a remake? That's just funny. But seriously, this is by far the best way to experience the iconic original game. It glosses up the great GameCube remake from years back by improving the environments and adding 1080p and 16:9 widescreen support. Perhaps best of all the tweaks is the option to ditch the old "tank controls" and use a more responsive, modernised scheme. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition (PS4/XB1) Although we can make a strong argument for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remains the completely essential, totally enormous, absolutely epic role-playing odyssey of choice – and yes, it's even better on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Skyrim looks a lot better than the earlier console editions, even if it's still a bit rugged in a lot of ways, plus it bundles in the various add-ons and allows for an array of approved fan mods, giving you a massive amount of fantasy excellence to dig into. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (PS4/XB1) Lara Croft's initial reign atop the gaming world ended in ruin – but 2013's Tomb Raider restored the iconic heroine to greatness. It's a lot like Uncharted , sure, but that's not a knock against a supremely exciting adventure that satisfies with wild action and dazzling exploration sequences, but also reboots Croft's origin story with success. The Definitive Edition makes the console versions look as amazing as the PC release did on a high-end rig, plus bundles in previously paid multiplayer add-ons. It's certainly the best way to play it. Als "exklusiv" gelten Spiele für die Xbox One inzwischen dann, wenn sie ausschließlich für Microsofts Konsole sowie den PC und nicht für Konkurrenzsysteme wie die PlayStation 4 oder die Nintendo NX erscheinen. Hübsch, hübscher: "Forza Horizon 3" Der Arcade-Raser "Forza Horizon 3" hat bereits die ersten Tests hinter sich. Und die Kritiker sind begeistert. IGN nennt das Spiel einen "vollkommenen Triumph" und vergibt 9,5 von 10 Punkten. GamesRadar hat vier von fünf Sternen für das Rennspiel übrig, in dem man in Australien herumrast. Zwar lobt das Magazin die "phänomenale Qualität, wohin man auch sieht", kritisiert allerdings "viele sinnlose Beschäftigungen", die die Spielzeit strecken. "Forza Horizon 3" gehört übrigens zu den ersten Spielen überhaupt, die zumindest via Xbox One S das helle und kontrastreiche HDR auf kompatiblen Fernsehern unterstützen. Ob es HDR auch für PC-Spieler gibt, ist unklar – "Gears of War 4" muss leider darauf verzichten. 2. Wir verkaufen keine Kekse: "Gears of War 4" In "Gears of War 4" geht es um Monster, die menschliche Festungen angreifen und Leute entführen. Die Story stand in den "Gears"-Spielen aber nie im Vordergrund. In "Gears of War 4" tust Du weiterhin das, was Du in den "Gears"-Spielen schon immer getan hast: Du erschießt massenhaft Mutanten oder sprengst sie in kleine Stücke oder Du machst sie mit Deinem Kettensägen-Gewehr bekannt. Wie die Hauptfigur der ersten Teile, Marcus Fenix, es einst ausdrückte: "Nun, die sehen auch, dass wir keine Kekse verkaufen." 3. Ich habe Angst, Dave: "Tacoma" "Tacoma" ist ein neues Sci-Fi-Adventure der "Gone Home"-Macher Fullbright. Das Erkundungs-Spiel stellt Dich vor die Aufgabe, die Raumstation Tacoma zu durchsuchen und herauszufinden, was mit ihrem Personal geschehen ist. Aufzeichnungen von Gesprächen der Mitarbeiter und andere Daten der Künstlichen Intelligenz des Schiffs geben Dir Hinweise. Die KI scheint allerdings fehlerhaft zu sein. Geplanter Release : Frühling 2017. 4. Spartans sterben nicht: "Halo Wars 2" Auf "Halo Wars 2" warten die Fans schon lange. Das Echtzeitstrategiespiel überlässt Dir die Kontrolle über Spartan-Armeen, Warthogs, Scorpios und neue Einheiten. Sie kämpfen zusammen gegen einen Feind, den man bislang noch nicht aus dem "Halo"-Universum kennt. Wobei die Einheiten des neuen Feindes auf den ersten Screenshots ziemlich vertraut aussehen. Das erste "Halo Wars" war gelungen und der zweite Teil dürfte Echtzeitstrategen ebenso zufriedenstellen. 5. Die Bedeutung von Teamwork: "State of Decay 2" "Das ist gut, oder? Jedenfalls ist es nicht mies", sagt die Spielfigur im ersten Teil der "State of Decay"-Reihe, wenn man ein Item findet. Der Spruch fasst auch die Testergebnisse zum Zombie-Survivalspiel zusammen – ordentlich, aber nicht herausragend. Das Highlight des kommenden zweiten Teils ist das kooperative Online-Spiel mit vier Spielern im eigenen Team. "State of Decay" fügte dem Zombie-Survivalkonzept einige Management-Aspekte hinzu, die nun erweitert werden. So musst Du Dich etwa um Essensvorräte, Munition und Gebäude kümmern. Bei menschlichen Mitspielern kann da schnell Streit ausbrechen, wenn die Zombies kommen und die Munition knapp wird. Wie gut sind Deine Social Skills? Die kannst Du bald nebenbei trainieren, während Du Zombies abmetzelst. 6. Hinter Dir, ein dreiköpfiger Affe: "Sea of Thieves" "Sea of Thieves" ist ein neues Piratenspiel von Rare. Ja, den Kult-Entwickler von Klassikern wie "Perfect Dark", "Banjo Kazooie" und "Conker's Bad Fur Day" gibt es noch und er ist unlängst exklusiv für Big M tätig. Das Besondere an "Sea of Thieves" ist dessen Auslegung als kooperatives Online-Spiel, in dem Du als Teil einer Piratenmannschaft Aufgaben erledigst. Du übernimmst das Steuerrad, bekämpfst feindliche Schiffe und Seeungeheuer und auf Schatzsuche geht es auch. Offenbar gehört obendrein Bier trinken zu Deinen Tätigkeiten, also ganz wie im echten Leben. Das scheint jedenfalls aus dem Trailer hervorzugehen. Zeit, Dein Holzbein anzulegen. 7. Früher war alles . hä? "Cuphead" "Cuphead" ist ein Spiel, das im 1930er-Zeichentrickfilm-Look das Gameplay alter 2D Run-and-Gun-Spiele wie "Contra" nachahmt. Man läuft also von links nach rechts und ballert alles weg, was sich auf dem Bildschirm breitmacht. Der Look der ältesten Zeichentrickfilme ist perfekt eingefangen, wie Trailer und Screenshots beweisen. Ob auch das Gameplay da mithalten kann, wird sich noch zeigen müssen. 8. Du sollst keine Leichen werfen: "Crackdown 3" "Crackdown 3" ist zwar ein heiß ersehnter potenzieller Action-Hit für die Xbox One, aber es gibt ein Problem: Der erste Teil ist in Deutschland indiziert worden und den zweiten Teil hat Microsoft hierzulande gar nicht erst veröffentlicht. Als "im besonderen Maße verrohend" empfand die Jugendschutzbehörde BPJM damals die Tatsache, dass man in "Crackdown 1" Leichen aufheben und sie als Waffen verwenden konnte. Auffällig ist derweil, dass man in der nicht indizierten "GTA"-Reihe als Krimineller eine ganze Reihe übler Dinge mit gesetzestreuen Bürgern tun muss, um im Spiel voranzukommen, während man in "Crackdown" auf der guten Seite des Gesetzes steht und Kriminellen üble Dinge antut. Wie auch immer die BPJM mit solchen Maßstäben zur Erziehung beitragen möchte: Microsoft bewirbt "Crackdown 3" auf der deutschen Xbox-Website und plant zumindest aktuell, das Sandbox-Spiel auch nach Deutschland zu bringen. 9. "Devil May Cry" mit Drachen: "Scalebound" Junge, nimm die Beats-Kopfhörer ab und halt die Klappe! Der junge Einzelgänger Drew reist an der Seite seines Drachen Thuban durch die Welt von Draconis. Dort kämpft er gegen andere Drachen und generell gegen die Feinde von Draconis und der Erde. Das Action-Rollenspiel bietet einen kooperativen Online-Modus für bis zu vier Spieler. "Scalebound" leidet aktuell noch daran, dass es ein mehr als offensichtlicher "Devil May Cry"-Verschnitt ist, nur mit einem Helden, der mit seinen Beats-Kopfhörern und lahmen Sprüchen wie ein peinliches Abziehbild von Dante wirkt. Vom Helden abgesehen verspricht das Spiel aber eine sehr gute Kopie von "Devil May Cry" mit Drachen darin zu werden – und einem hohen Multiplayer-Potenzial. 10. Einsamer Wanderer: "Ashen" In "Ashen" spielst Du einen zunächst einsamen Wanderer, der Abenteuer in einer fantastischen Welt besteht und dabei Rätsel löst. Dabei geht es insbesondere um den Aufbau von Beziehungen mit anderen, sodass Du eine größere Chance hast, in der gefährlichen Fantasy-Umgebung zu überleben. Der Entwickler Aurora44 verspricht einen "passiven" Multiplayer, eine offene Welt, hochgefährliche Kämpfe, einen nicht-linearen Spielfortschritt und gigantische Kreaturen. Der Trailer wirkt düster, spannend und irgendwie anders.
