XBOX One remote with NUC D34010WYKH. i have a Intel NUC D34010WYKH that ive been using since it was released, love the hardware, have Kodi 15.1 installed over Windows 8.1 as it also manages me media organizing and downloading. I came into possession of an Xbox One Media remote that has the best feel and build quality of all the remotes ive owned, including many off-brand Chinese keyboard air-remotes and lower end Harmony ones. but for the life of me, i can't get the built in IR on the NUC to recognize commands sent by the remote. i have tried EventGhost and WinLIRC and Intelliremote and any combination of the above but nothing ever clicks. i have seen posts related to this issue with sometimes no follow-up (like this ) and other times success (on OpenElec for instance here ). But even after messaging some of these users directly, i have gotten no further to getting this to work. For reference, the Intel NUC has a Nuvotron CIR that has drivers installed and up to date, and shows no errors in device manager and the bios is up to date with three options for the remote (generic remote, rc6, or xbox remote), all of which make no difference. does anyone have experience with these two devices and how to get them to work better together? 2840 Просмотров Метки: нет (добавить) xbox one. 1. In this case the IR (infrared) controller in the Intel® NUC is the same (You can test a Driver update) Download Infrared: Nuvoton* Consumer Infrared (CIR) operator for Intel® NUC but the OS (Operating System) Openelect maybe has more compatible products, You can check with Microsoft if there is any advice how to pair both using Windows® 8.1. I am not familiar with any of the software you mention (Kodi, EventGhost, WinLIRC, Intelliremote).  And don't confuse the BIOS settings (which have to do with power on from various low power states such as off) with built-in support in Windows 7/8.x Media Center (after installing the Novoton driver).  For built-in support to work with an Xbox media remote (regardless of Intel/NUC), the most common thing is that you need to change a registry entry from something like 1 (which is for the regular Microsoft remote) to something like an 8 (which is the Xbox code) or 0 (which means universal any of the settings 1-8).  Then reboot.  Maybe that other software you mention also needs a registry change like that. Re: XBOX One remote with NUC D34010WYKH. Are you encountering this withe the same model of NUC? Also, I would like you to take into consideration that this is a remote controller made by Microsoft, and the OS used is not from that vendor, this may be affecting the performance of the device. Have you tried with different remotes or different OS? Does the controller has requirements to work properly? Мне нравится Показать отметки "Мне нравится" (0) (0) Действия. 8. Re: XBOX One remote with NUC D34010WYKH. My NUC is a DN2820FYKH which has a ITE8713 IR transceiver (not a NTN0530). I intially wanted to run Windows 8.1 but found the latest version of OpenElec to be well support out-of-the-box. Unfortunately I've run into trouble with my IR transceiver no longer picking up any events (looking at irw, evtest or ir-keytable -t). I've been running the ite-cir driver and not the nuvoton-cir. The latter, when loaded, sees the following output from ir-keytable: Couldn't find any node at /sys/class/rc/rc*. As opposed to using the ite-cir driver: Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event6) with:         Supported protocols: NEC RC-5 RC-6 JVC SONY SANYO LIRC RC-5-SZ SHARP XMP other. I'd eventually found out that both my Xbox One media remote and another TV remote I was testing with simply were not creating IR events (mobile phone camera shows they do emit IR signals, but I have no idea where they go, and I can't pick them up on any protocol including lirc custom mapping). Never could resolve the inability to power on from s3,s4,s5 via IR. I'm just going to leave the thing running indefinitely. Мне нравится Показать отметки "Мне нравится" (0) (0) Действия. 10. Xbox One's ability to power-on and power-off your other devices (basically TV and AVR) is a cool idea but unfortunately it's not nearly as sophisticated as what Logitech Harmony remotes can do. For example, to switch on my Panasonic TV, a remote has to send power-on signal for a few seconds. While you can easily set this up on Harmony remotes, there is no ability to adjust this on Xbox One. Another, more universal issue is that while Xbox can power-on your devices, it can't change audio source on your AVR or input on the TV, which kind of defeats the whole point - you still have to find your other remote and change to correct inputs. So after playing a little with Xbox turn-on and turn-off voice commands I started looking into whether I can use my old trusted Logitech Harmony 900 to properly power-on all devices and change inputs for Xbox gaming or media session. Luckily Xbox One supports IR out of the box so pretty much any Harmony remote can control it. I went ahead and setup a simple activity using Xbox, AVR and TV. All devices were powering on and off as they should, but while AVR and TV were working fine, Xbox was not reacting to any of the remote control commands after powering on (other than power-off). After little digging around I found that to make this work you have to setup Logitech Harmony activity as Watch DVD or Laserdisc instead of Play Video Game . Once setup as video type activity all remote commands wok fine on Xbox One.

Joined: Jan 2011. The Xbox 360 Slim black remote has been my preferred remote for media devices for several years. Small and light, clicky buttons, RC6 compatible, good range of buttons including number buttons, low cost. Volume, power and input select can be programmed to work with many TVs (but not amplifiers/receivers). I use them on OpenELEC Pi installs with GPIO IR, and OpenELEC PC installs with USB RC6 IR receivers, both with basic keymap tweaking. However I still prefer the Xbox 360 version because the number buttons are useful for text input, the extra buttons useful for subtitles/audio etc, and it's cheaper than the Xbox One version (street prices). While Intel has not tested and validated Intel® NUC on your Linux version, we know that other customers have successfully installed OpenELEC and working properly. Intel suggests you check your Linux distro's website and forums at OpenELEC Mediacenter - OpenELEC Forum - Category Index for peer assistance with this issue. Removing bios battery doesn't help. I think my NUC just doesn't have power/wake code in bios for my remote control. It would be great if Intel could add some new function to bios and we could program which ir signal code can power on\wake up NUC. Such a function can solve a lot of user's problems with different remote controls. Or maybe there is some bios edit tool where I can edit that codes? I found a BIOS option for 'wake from S4 and S5 states (off)' where previously only waking from S3 (sleep) was enabled. Enabling this option had no effect. Xbox One Media Remote Review – Almost all the right buttons. The Xbox One is quite the media playing powerhouse, poor user library streaming aside. With support for most popular video streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, Blu-ray playback, and the ability to control many cable TV boxes directly through the console, it has most of the movie and TV-watching bases covered. Kinect voice commands for video playback can be fun too. Still - for many movie and TV watchers, nothing beats the feel, convenience, and responsiveness of a traditional remote control. Microsoft has finally released the Xbox One Media Remote with just those people in mind. Despite widespread stock issues since the remote’s release, we’ve finally managed to pick on up and put it through its paces. Small and fun to hold. Compared to the original 360 remote control, the Xbox One Media Remote is downright tiny. The entire device has a soft, smooth exterior which makes it surprisingly pleasant to hold. Lending to that ergonomic design is the remote’s convex back, which curves outward. This causes a little wobble when you set it down on the back, but you can always place it face down if that bothers you. The back is one large piece with a subtle Xbox logo engraved into it. Instead of a separate battery compartment door like most remotes have, the entire back plate must be removed to access the batteries. It takes a little getting used to, but makes for a more attractive appearance. The Media Remote is entirely matte black. The button labels all have a very dull appearance that could make the remote hard to distinguish if placed on black furniture. Luckily, the buttons won’t be hard to see in the dark thanks to the built-in gyroscope. Tilt the remote or press a button and they all light up a cool white color. Although the Xbox One Media Remote houses 20 buttons, that number proves slightly anemic for movie playback. Noticeably absent are the A, B, X, and Y buttons found on the Xbox 360 remote (and for which Playstation remote controls also have their own equivalents). This causes problems because the Media Remote can’t emulate all the basic functions of an Xbox One controller. We’ll expand on that in a bit. At the top of the remote is a shiny Home (Guide) button, the only non-soft button on the device. It still lights up though. The Home button is essential for quickly returning to the Home screen or back to the most recent app. It also powers the console on and off in the same way as a standard controller. Just below that, you’ll find the View (Back) and Menu (Start) buttons. Menu is fairly important because it opens context menus on the Home screen and within the various video playback apps. You can use it to close programs on the Home screen, access the Settings menu within Netflix, and many other functions. View on the other hand has absolutely no purpose on this remote control. It does nothing on the Home screen, nor do any of the video apps I tested utilize it. Considering the remote lacks a few important buttons, the designers really should not have blown one on a function irrelevant to video playback. Ironically, the view button’s label suggests a useful purpose: managing snapped applications. One of the main purposes of snapping apps is to enable video playback while playing games and performing other functions. It would be great to toggle control between the snapped app and the main window with a single touch of a button, but instead we have to double-tap the Home button. The recessed arrows and enter button allow the remote to navigate system menus, Blu-ray and DVD menus, and video playback apps like a boss. Enter essentially acts like the A button on a controller, as it always confirms menu selections. However, the arrow pad and enter don’t truly emulate a controller’s d-pad and A button, which we’ll cover shortly. Below the arrow pad sit the Back and OneGuide buttons. Back acts a lot like the B Button would, backing out of menus within apps and the system menu. The OneGuide button launches the OneGuide with its TV listings and other functions. If you haven’t connected your console to a supported cable box, the button won’t be of any use to you. Next you’ll find Volume buttons, Mute, and Channel buttons. Mute is the only button that doesn’t extrude from the remote, but it’s still easy to press. The Volume and Mute buttons do absolutely nothing if you haven’t set your Kinect up as an IR blaster. That’s silly considering the Media Remote *is* an IR remote and could communicate directly with other devices even without a Kinect. The Channel buttons (surprisingly) do make themselves useful in the system menus. From the main home screen, pressing them will jump between Home, snapped apps, and the Store/Bing screen. In many system menus like Friends’ Activity, the channel buttons act like page up and down buttons, scrolling quickly through content. That said, not every menu makes use of them. Finally, the standard array of Play/Pause, Rewind, Fast-forward, Skip Back, Skip Forward, and Stop occupy the bottom of the remote. Play is easy to find by touch because of that non-extruded Mute button. Performance issues. Much as I love video streaming, I still watch a ton of Blu-rays and DVDs. The Media Remote mostly improves the disc-watching experience, with one major exception. It lacks a dedicated menu button! The pop-up menu is an essential component of navigation on Blu-rays, and DVD menus also get lots of use. Yet somehow, not a single button on the Media Remote performs those functions. With a regular Xbox One controller, you can launch a disc’s pop-up menu by pressing the Menu (Start) button. The same button on the remote does nothing. To access a pop-up menu or top menu, you have to press Play/Pause to open the playback menu, select the ellipsis button on the side of the menu, and THEN find the menu button of choice. What a convoluted and unpleasant place to hide one of Blu-ray and DVD’s most important functions. I already mentioned the Media Remote doesn’t emulate the exact same functions as a regular controller, which explains why the remote’s Menu button does nothing during disc playback. It turns out that apps must specifically support the remote in order for it to work. Guess which uber popular video app doesn’t support the remote then? YouTube! Launch the YouTube app and you won’t be able to navigate at all. Only the Home or Back buttons will exit the app. Overall Impression. The Xbox One Media Remote’s lack of a menu button for disc playback and incompatibility with YouTube need to be fixed ASAP. Luckily, those are both simple app issues that Microsoft can address without much effort. The Media Remote SHOULD have included all four main face buttons and emulated a standard controller, just like the Xbox 360 remote did before it. But throwing out things that worked fine in favor of lesser implementations has been a common design trait of the Xbox One (see our launch review for many more examples). Those complaints aside, the Media Remote is still an essential purchase for movie and TV lovers. It’s far too easy to interrupt playback by hitting the triggers on a regular controller, and Kinect voice commands sometimes fail to work. The Media Remote provides exactly the instant responsiveness and convenience you’d want in a remote control. It works great with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video, and also does an admirable job of navigating system menus. The price could be a little lower, but you won’t find a better video control option for the Xbox One anytime soon. Note that the remote remains scarce at the time of review because Microsoft short-shipped all domestic retailers. The supply issues should clear up within a week or two. If you use the Xbox One to control most of the media in your home, you are well aware of how clunky the standard gaming controller can be when trying to command other systems. If you're looking for an easier solution, you may want to consider a media remote for your Xbox One. We compiled a list of the best media remotes — both dedicated and universal — you can get to ensure you have a quality user experience every time you pick up that clicker. Dedicated Xbox remotes. PDP Talon Media Remote. The PDP Talon Media Remote control looks more like a universal remote than a dedicated Xbox remote, but it's designed to work with the Microsoft gaming and media system. Of course, all the standard buttons you'd find on any remote are here: play, pause, stop, rewind, fast-forward and menu. But it's quite a bit larger and has far more dedicated buttons than some of the other dedicated remotes. For example, a closed-captioning button will turn on subtitles with just a click. Like all Xbox remotes, this one still uses IR, so you will have to point it at your console for it to function. It has some limited TV control capabilities, but at around $20 it's a great option for those solely looking for a way to control their Xbox. It's probably the best you can buy. Gioteck MK1 Premium Media Remote. This remote from Gioteck has been designed with the Xbox One S in mind, matching its white paint job pretty closely. It's a fairly chunky, but still light remote, that packs a whole host of media features on the front. It's well laid out with rubber buttons and a fairly large D-Pad as well as all the important Xbox buttons, including ABXY. That's as well as the volume and program controls, and media playback buttons. But the Gioteck MK1 is like the mullet of media remotes: Business in the front, party out the back. Flip it over and you find a full QWERTY keyboard (though you need to attach a wireless dongle to your Xbox to use this) which is fantastic. It beats using an onscreen keyboard by a long way and is more convenient than having to reach for a controller with a chat pad attached. It's available in Europe for £25. In the U.S. a very similar remote can be had from Gamestop for $30. Microsoft Xbox One media remote. Directly from Microsoft, the Xbox One media remote is a small, matte black remote that has an easy-to-grip rubberized back. And when you pick it up, motion sensors immediately light up the buttons. The remote performs the essential functions you need to enjoy playback of your favorite media, such as pause, play, fast-forward, rewind and stop. The Xbox One Media remote can also turn Xbox One on and off with the shiny home button at the top. Thanks to the Xbox TV Guide feature, you can even control your cable box through the Xbox with this remote. Bringing up your channel list or casually flipping through channels is super simple and easy. It can even easily navigate streaming apps such as Netflix and Hulu. If you want to know more, check out our full review of the Microsoft Xbox One Media Remote or pick one up for around $20. Nyko media remote. Though it's a third-party remote, Nyko's media remote is dedicated for use with the Xbox One. It costs just a little more than the official Xbox One remote, ringing in at about $13.99. Slightly smaller and thinner than the Microsoft media remote, Nyko's looks a little more like a traditional remote control. The buttons are made of rounded rubber that protrudes from the face of the remote, giving this clicker a distinctly retro look. It's backlit, so finding the right controls while you're watching movies in the dark is easy. All the standard playback controls are present: you can play, pause, and fast-forward all your media at your leisure. The Home button will automatically take you back to the Xbox One home screen anytime you need it, and the menu button will bring up the disc menu on DVDs or Blu-rays. There are two buttons that Nyko's remote has that Microsoft's remote doesn't: a power button and an eject button. You may not think either of these is a big deal, but they each streamline regular processes with a single click. Universal remotes. Inteset universal IR learning remote. If you're looking for something that will control your Xbox One that also works with your other devices, the Inteset universal IR learning remote could be your best bet. The greatest thing about this remote is it comes preset to use with your Xbox One, which makes it incredibly easy to set up. Simply by pushing either the A, B, C or D buttons, you can set up the remote to function for Apple TV, Xbox One, Windows Media Center, and Roku respectively, making it easy to switch back and forth between devices. The Inteset remote also has the added benefit of having the red, green, yellow and blue buttons all correspond with the standard Xbox One color control buttons, which gives you the ability to do everything the stock gaming controller can when it comes to media playback. You can pick up the Inteset universal IR learning remote for $25 at Amazon. Logitech Harmony Elite remote. Logitech's Harmony Elite remote has a very modern design and is the current pinnacle of universal remotes. It's a bit bigger than the other remotes on our list, but it still fits comfortably in your hand. This is the perfect remote for people who truly want one remote for everything in their house, including the Xbox One, and it rings in at approximately $245. The first thing that stands out for the Harmony Elite is its touchscreen. Acting as the central hub, the touchscreen allows you to access all the different devices you have connected to the remote, making it easy to switch between using your Xbox One, cable box, Apple TV or any other device. One touch can turn on your TV, set the input, turn on the Xbox, and switch on your speaker system. It can even control your smart lights. The remote control has a rechargeable battery and charging dock, which is super convenient for topping off and keeping it from getting lost in the couch. But if you do lose it, no worries. With the remote's hub you can control everything through the Logitech's controller app on your phone (iOS and Android only, unfortunately). How do you control your Xbox One?
