Puzzle Platformer Albert & Otto Coming to Xbox One.
The 2D puzzle-platformer Albert & Otto is coming to Xbox One on January 10th, 2018. Initially released on PC as the first of four planned episodes, the subsequent instalments never materialised due to insufficient funding. By bringing the first episode to console audiences, developer K Bros hopes it may be afforded the opportunity to finally complete the story of Albert & Otto as originally intended.
So, what is this game you ask? Good question. Albert & Otto is a story set in 1939 Germany about a boy and his abducted sisters magical bunny. They embark on a journey to find her, overcoming murderous beasts and lethal puzzles by working together.
Unique mechanic utilizing a little bunny which the player can carry around or leave and/or remotely control in order to solve puzzles A story inspired by dark events buried in our history and told through a childs drawings and clues scattered throughout the game that force the player to think outside the box Levitate sheep, use them as platforms to swim on, a torch to light a dark cave or as a distraction for wolves while you make a quick escape. (if your stomach can handle it) 2.5 - 3 hours of unique puzzles that utilize a bunny, levitation, electrical switches, wolves, piranhas and more Experience a mix of slow paced thought provoking puzzle design and fast unforgiving gauntlet sections Come face to face with intimidating larger than life mechanical monsters and outsmart them.
That is all we have for now. We hope to have more information as the eventual release hits.

Albert & Otto: The Adventure Begins (Xbox One Review)
It’s a new year which means new puzzle games and first up on the list is Albert and Otto: The Adventure Begins , the 2D puzzle side-scrolling platformer developed by indie studio KBros Games. Albert & Otto was originally released on Steam back in 2015 but has recently been launched on consoles.
The first you’ll notice about Albert & Otto is the similar feel it has Limbo. While the aesthetic is similar, and with a similar story feel, it’s different enough that the comparisons can easily end at its appearance.
You play as Albert, a young boy who’s in a mission to find out what’s happened to his sister. The start of the first chapter sets the tone for how grim a theme KBros were going for as you start in front of what can only be presumed to be your family home, which has been set alight.
Throughout the chapters, you’ll come across shards that put together a family portrait and pictures left by your sister that explain a bit about the story with some of them occasionally hinting at how to complete a puzzle.
The feeling I get of the overarching story is that it’s set during Nazi Germany. Going by some of the pictures you find with kids wearing gas masks and part of a chapter that plays what sounds like propaganda.
The puzzles themselves are simple enough but have a high enough difficulty that you will die a high number of times before you either figure it out completely or get the timing just right. There’s nothing too difficult that will lead to rage quitting.
The music for Albert & Otto can be quite creepy but sets each area up perfectly. In the absence of any music there’ll be sound effects, like a strong wind, that makes everything that bit more eerie but it all works with each scene.
I did come across a few problems which causes a hard reset, luckily the auto save is frequent so I didn’t have to redo much. First was the occasional frame rate issue. I’m generally not fussed with a dip in framerate now and then but for a game like Albert & Otto where timing is key, a dip at anytime can be the difference of making that timed jump perfectly or missing out and having to redo the section. It didn’t happen often but enough for it to be an issue.
There were a couple of bugs that cause me to hard reset the game. There was a point after gaining a new ability where the gun Albert uses locked in one direction. The right analogue stick is used to aim the gun in a complete 360 degree circle but after gaining an ability it locked into only pointing left. Reloading the quick save from menu didn’t sort it so I had to close the game completely and restart the chapter. It didn’t happen again after that.
The last issue I had was moving platforms. There are sections were you’ll need to use a floating box to make your way down a river. These sections often come with having to time jumps over obstacles but this is made almost impossible when a bug creeps in. Instead of moving with the.
box, the box moves from underneath Albert while he stays motionless. This leads to the issue of trying to keep Albert on the box and leads to mistimed jumps and restarting sections.
I only know that this is an issue as it only happened occasionally. If it happened every time, I would assume it was a game mechanic created to add some difficulty. As it stands it’s not, and all it does is add unnecessary frustration when you see Albert start to glide towards a watery death.
Apart from that, Albert & Otto is a decent puzzle game. It’s an extremely short game, taking about an hour or so to compete. I don’t think I broke the 2 hour mark but for the kind of puzzle game this is I don’t think it would do it any favours if it were to be any longer. Also The Adventure Begins is only episode 1 so there’s potentially multiple episodes heading to consoles to bring that total time up.
If you enjoyed games like Limbo or fancy a short puzzle game with a dark storyline then Albert & Otto will be right up your street. It may even distract you from the January comedown from Christmas.
Albert & Otto.
Interesting, but dark, storyline Engaging puzzles Perfect aesthetic.
Framerate issues, affecting puzzles Occasional game breaking bugs.

Traverse a haunting world set in 1939 Germany in search of a mysterious girl with rabbit ears. Utilize a little bunny in creative ways to solve puzzles. Levitate sheep, use them as torches or wolf bait and make your way through a land that seems to not fancy you being alive. In this first installment “The Adventure Begins” the player is thrown headfirst into a haunting world set in 1939 Germany in search of a mysterious girl with bunny ears. Clues as to who she is and what happened to her are scattered throughout the game in the form of drawings left in post boxes and shards that the player must piece together. However the player is not alone on this adventure, help comes in the form of the girl’s magical bunny, Otto. The player must use both Albert and Otto in creative ways to traverse a haunting world. At the beginning of the story, Albert can shoot and jump, while Otto can fit through tight gaps and hold down power switches. But together, they unlock new skills such as a double jump, levitation, control of electrical currents, and more as the story unfolds. Features • Unique mechanic utilizing a little bunny which the player can carry around or leave and/or remotely control in order to solve puzzles • A story that is inspired by dark events buried in our history and isn't spoon fed to the player but spans across 3 episodes and is told through a child's drawings and clues scattered throughout the game that force the player to think outside the box. • Levitate sheep, use them as platforms to swim on, a torch to light a dark cave or as a distraction for wolves while you make a quick escape. A & O is a good game.
Albert & Otto is a well thought out puzzle platformer. At times the controls can be a little clunky, but outside of that it is a very good game. If you are into side scrolling puzzle platformers, I recommend A & O.

desperately needs to be patched.
if you don't mind broken games then I would highly recommend this. but if you're like me and enjoy unlocking achievements, then I would suggest waiting for a patch. for example, THE CHARMER 🏆 150 requires you to essentially complete level 7 without dying but everytime i reach the fish with my burning 🔥 sheep. the fire stays lit and the only way I found to fix it is to exit to main menu, which voids the achievement.

incredibly pretentious.
could critique this all day. tldr. hardly worth 4$ let alone 12. planet of the eyes gives the same experience except it's cheaper, not neraly as buggy or frustrating, and alot prettier.

After a few jump puzzles and narrative discovered through pictures left by your sister, you'll find your sister's stuffed rabbit, Otto. Your first real dash of color in the game, a crimson red rabbit in a world of gray-scale. With the rabbit in tow, you're able to double jump your way higher adding to the platforming experience. With Otto's help you're able to use telekinesis to lift items. Each new power helping identify Albert and Otto as it's own title and not just a copy of other somewhat similar games.
Puzzle Platformer Albert & Otto Available Now on Xbox One.
I am super excited to finally see Albert & Otto make it on Xbox One. This game was my first entry into the world of video game development, so the mechanics and puzzles evolved over time rather than being designed from the start by an experienced developer, which I think gives it a unique feel. Originally a filmmaker, I was always fond of telling stories and I continue to be surprised at how similarly powerful the two mediums are when it comes to storytelling.
Albert & Otto is a puzzle platformer that is mechanically quite simple: run, jump, shoot, solve puzzles, burn sheep (more on that later), but has a complex and deep underlying story. It takes a lot of inspiration from films such as “Schindler’s List” and some of Tim Burton’s early black and white animated shorts.
The player must use both Albert and his magical bunny Otto in creative ways to solve puzzles and defeat scary monsters with the goal of finding his abducted sister, Anna, and discovering that not all is as it first seems. When the game begins the player can only jump and shoot, but this all changes when you find Otto who grants the player the ability to double jump and levitate objects. Furthermore, players can throw Otto into tight gaps and activate power switches to access previously unreachable areas.
The overall relaxed mood of the game and puzzles are punctuated by the occasional enemy and the larger than life boss battles that require the player to use all the skills they have learnt until that point.
Set in Nazi Germany, Albert & Otto deals with rather dark subject matter as you can imagine. I tried to offset that by adding funny moments into the game, such as when you throw a sheep around and use it as wolf bait or use it to set things on fire (some would argue that this had quite the opposite effect).
Since its original launch on PC, the game has been improved and streamlined based on community feedback, and it features some sweet collectible art that was not available previously, so it’s safe to say that this is a definitive version of the game and I am excited that it is finally coming to console, the place I feel that all platformers belong.
Making Albert & Otto was one of the biggest accomplishments of my life and I look forward to a whole new audience experiencing the game on Xbox One.
