So, going in to this one, i had low expectations, especially with everyone saying the game was downgraded for the consoles. Well, it is a fantastic game to me. No other ways to describe it. GRAPHICS - The graphics are more than solid good. The animation is simply out of this world with the occasional frame rate drop, but nothing which harm this game. Hey, not as bad as Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim (I owned all 3 of them and they were buggy, but fun). Those graphics are crisp and sharp. Every area is distinct from one another which means you know when you get to another area of the game. I really like the background where you can almost see like other levels far away. This is top notch to me. The water area could use some upgrades, but it still get the job done. It is pure pleasure just to go through this world and look at all the details (and i am just in the prologue still. lol). SOUND - The music in this game is just phenomenal. Man, talk about putting you in the mood. The voice acting is superb and whoever wrote their texts are really good. Overall, the sound effect is plain fun. Nothing else to say about it. GAMEPLAY – The game so far is very responsive. You can easily navigate and the character does exactly what you want. I don't find it too hard to get used to Gerald and his moves. I was playing a lot of Bloodborne before this game, so i am used by now to rolling and dodging. I have gotten stuck once or twice on rocks, but it happens rarely. You have to watch where you go or you could die easily falling of a cliff. STORY – This is a very innovative story to me. As mentioned, i have not followed the witcher story at all. I did not find i was at a total loss. I really want to find out what has happened and why. This game is apparently supposed to last approx.. 25h to 30h just with the main story. Should last close to 200h with all the side quests. The whole witcher world is captivating to me. All those monsters to hunt and the hundreds of NPC's to listen to. There is a lot to do here. FUN - There seems to be a lot of collectibles to find in this game, from weapons to weapons upgrades to various items and secrets. You can also find journals here and there. I did not think you could have more than skyrim, but this game may just prove me wrong. That is just awesome. The menus are a bit hard to navigate and it is a bit confusing. However, once you get it, it may takes a bit of work to get there, but it works. Who knows, maybe a patches in the future will address that. Overall, there is just a ton of fun to get with this game. CONCLUSION - This game is phenomenal period. I love the developper for getting us free DLC's (there are 16 coming soon). Yeah, they may ask money for 2 expensions later on, but at least, the DLC's are free and that's the way it should be. I suggest supporting those guys who made us a great game instead of supporting the practice of a game company releasing a horribly unfinished product and expecting the customers to pay full price. I would recommend this to a friend. This game is thick with plot. I put 15 hours in just running side-missions when I started. I got 40 hours in now. I'm only 3% done. There is always something to kill. If you plan right and mix the correct potions, the kills come easier than had you ignored the advice of the game. You can't change your character but you can customize clothes and hair. This is in essence a movie. 7th son seems to be based on this game. Probably not but it had similar undertones. You're a monster hunter. You occasionally hunt men. Missions can be paced where you can play for a few hours and have a good save point. You fill like you are accomplishing something instead of slugging through. There is a built in mini game that can eat hours of your time. It's kind of similar to a 3 level game of medieval blackjack war. You play cards up front, in the middle, and at the back of the field. You're looking to make the highest points. Sometimes you have to lose the first hand. But you collect the cards and play people throughout the game. You can't just run through all the side missions as the story progresses. There are level restrictions but the beauty of this game is that it won't restrict you from trying. You will fail them but you can pass them if you have a lot of skill. It's a million dollar title and worth every dime you spent on it. It's a buy but make sure you have the time to invest. I would recommend this to a friend. I saw it at Best Buy and called my son to see if it would be a good xBox One game and he said he had played a previous Witcher game and it was pretty good. I am a 74 year old female and started playing this a couple of weeks ago and am so addicted. Love the story line. Hope this game lasts many hours. It is better than watching TV. I would recommend this to a friend. Phenomenal. This game has everything, great story, sound, graphics. And best of all free DLC. The creator of the game has placed an insert that explains that they will give away all the DLC's they create. They also give you a soundtrack cd and a map. Kudos for going against the grain and telling a story that can span 400 hours and captivate the imagination. Too see a open world so fleshed out and polished was such a treat. This game has the best side quest of any RPG ive played. and ive played most. top notch story, voice acting and music. The support for the game has been great as well they did a great job listening to feedback and had well thought out patches. the dlc was well done though i preffered the dark tone of hearts of stone iron and wine provided a great end to the series (if it is the end). the only complaints i could find were roachs ai and controlls felt a little sluggish, and a little customization on gear/armor would of been welcomed. anyway..if you remotely like rpgs go get this game.and everything else this company puts out because they care and craft amazing games. looking forward to the next adventure they take us on. 276 out of 282 people found this helpful. Captivating! I wasn't sure what to think when I first started this game. And to tell the truth I almost stopped playing for good just a few hours after starting the campaign. I felt the game was too difficult (I got killed by some army deserters that looked like bums) and thought "maybe this game ain't for me". That would have been a huge mistake! What are games for if not for the challenge? Plus after you finish all the quests in White Orchid you should be proficient enough to realize that it's just a matter of time before Geralt is a true force to be reckoned with. The game is deep and huge, with a fantastic story line. This game also has a really fun mini-game called Gwent that you should take the time to learn, it really adds to the immersive feel of the game. I'm ready for Witcher 4! Even though the 2nd one was phenomenal, this Witcher is definitely the best in the series. Not many rpg's are able to provide so much variety in their gameplay without the game feeling repetitive or too linear. Witcher 3 does a great job with the storytelling and how you relate to the characters. Even the side missions get you so caught up that it ceases to feel like a side mission but more like part of the main story. The control can be a learning curb but if you're a fan of the Dark Souls series you'll feel right at home. Once you get used to the control you'll have access to some sick finishing moves! Crafting is fun and doesn't feel like such a chore when gathering mats. The graphics are very well done and realistic. You'll find yourself taking random screenshots of the breathtaking landscapes. I've enjoyed this game more than any other game by far. If you like RPG's this is a must get. The story is amazing, not to mention the side quests are so developed it feels as if it's a story on its own. The world is amazing and you never run out of things to do. Gameplay is awesome, and graphics are beautiful. With how long it takes doing side quests and witcher jobs - the story line along with add ons, the game is worth buying, its not short like these other games now days, it takes days to lvl up and complete everything, which with the map being big its highly enjoyable. I don't care that the game takes more then 36 hours to beat if your just aiming on main story, but thats what makes the game great unlike these other games that are $60 and can be beaten in 5-8 hours. My opinion the best RPG ever I. Well the best game ever. even if your not into RPG you will still love this game, takes sometime to get use to the magic part if you are new. But it is well worth it. it came out in 2015 and they literally just stopped touching it up 6 months or so ago . i bought it whenit came out and it was stunning. now its like a new a game ,ive beaten. it 3 times and every time i ran into multiple new thinngs, the story ,dialogue,the world can not be compared. Beautiful thats all that needs to be said , it is long and the 2 DLC S are like part 4 ,and 5. thats how long they are. and they are awesome. One of the best RPG's out there, if not the best game!! First off I'd like to say obviously that this is a RPG game. Obviously there are several different titles out there that are top notch and triple A games. However in my opinion this is one of the best games I've ever played, and I Have been gaming for a while. The storyline is fantastic and it grips you into every aspect of it!! Very rarely do you come across titles Besides oblivion (When it First came out years ago) and the Mass Effect series that actually emerse is you into the game play and make you feel part of it, as if you are actually living the game, and in that world! The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the latest game to receive enhancements on Xbox One X. Developer CD Projekt Red has deployed a new update for the critically acclaimed RPG, adding 4K support and other visual and performance improvements tailored for Microsoft's new console. The update is available to install now for everyone who already owns a copy of Witcher 3. As CD Projekt Red previously detailed, the game now features two visual fidelity options: 4K Mode and Performance Mode. In the former, the game runs at 4K resolution (or supersampled for those without a 4K display) at 30 FPS. The latter, meanwhile, features dynamic resolution scaling from 1080p up to 4K while "targeting" 60 FPS. Both 4K and Performance Modes also support HDR. To switch between the two, go into the Options menu and choose Display. From there, go into the Advanced settings section and you'll be able to toggle between 4K and Performance Modes. Xbox One X Runs The Witcher 3 at 60FPS, Without a Patch. Xbox One X has provided console players a way to experience The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at 60 frames per second. According to Eurogamer, The Witcher 3 shipped with an unlocked framerate, allowing it to potentially reach 60fps, which it's now able to accomplish (with occasional dips) on Xbox One X. However, the increased framerate comes at the cost of resolution, as the unpatched Xbox One version of The Witcher 3 runs at 900p. A later update boosted resolution to 1080p, but locked the framerate in at 30fps. According to Xbox Wire, an Xbox One X-specific update for The Witcher 3 is on its way. The patch will boost resolution to 4K and provide "numerous visual tweaks such as higher-quality shadows, ambient occlusion & texture filtering, as well as higher resolution textures, and an all-around performance boost." The post doesn't mention any changes to the locked framerate.
