Love Wrecking Cars?
Did you love the over-the-top, reckless racing action of the FlatOut series? Or the ferocious wrecking fests of the classic demolition derby games? So did we!
What if you could take those glorious moments and mix them with some serious vehicle upgrading, and spice it up with fierce online races where players duke it out with tricked out bangers? Now THAT would be something.
For years, you’ve been asking us the same thing over and again: when are you going to get back to your roots, and create another high-octane racing game that captures the spirit of over-the-top action and reckless driving of the legends of past?
Well, we heard you. Our next racing game is going to bring those unforgettable moments up to date, and the best part of it all is that we want to make it with YOU!
It’s called Wreckfest.
Why Should You Care?
A Unique Racing Experience.
First and foremost, we’re building a FUN racing game with ATTITUDE. It’s all about the stuff that really matters: varied tracks and terrains, plenty of cool cars, and those breathtaking once-in-a-lifetime moments that can only be achieved with true-to-life physics simulation.
If you’re familiar with the original FlatOut experience, you already know what we’re talking about: exhilarating racing action with sophisticated physics and damage modeling, only this time we’re upping the ante on every front. This is the game we envisioned way back in the early 2000s, re-imagined for today’s technology and gaming standards.
Oh, and we’ve got full-blown, straight-up demolition derbies, too, to go with that full contact racing.
Awesome Cars.
The cars are old, cheap, banged up, patched together, rusty,… In other words, plain awesome! Our cars ooze STYLE, and you won’t find anything like them in other racing games.
We’ve got variety, too! Everyone loves the old American heavy-hitters from the muscle car era, but we’re not neglecting the fun little European and agile Asian cars from the long gone decades either. The best part is that you’ll be taking them apart and building them back up again in your garage. Need more horsepower on a budget? No problem, scour the classifieds for a bargain supercharger – just remember that a cheap solution find might not withstand too much punishment!
Your career as a derby driver is as much about your garage and your project cars as it is about racing.
Exciting Engine.
You could not create this kind of experience with just any engine. Fortunately, our in-house engine, ROMU, is a beast, a hell-bent monster that’s precision engineered for high-speed, breakneck racing. ROMU is all about how those beautiful steel and chrome bullets crash into both each other and the environment.
At Bugbear we’re all about putting you in the driver’s seat. That’s why our engine is simulating everything, to give you great feedback on what your car is doing. You’ll feel the little bumps on the track, the weight of your car when you swerve and curve – and you’ll most certainly feel it when you’re being dealt a solid track shot! Getting HURT has never felt this good!
We can’t wait to show you what we can do with today’s hardware. We have fully dynamic visual car damage (no predefined damage models!), and the environments are more destructible than ever before.
Essentially, we can now put a ton of flying metal and dirt in the air at any given time, which we most certainly will!
It’s a Motorsport with Attitude.
Why Do We Need Your Help?
It’s actually very simple. This is not going to be a small game, for we have a lot of ambition on what Wreckfest could be. We’ve invested over a million dollars into the game already. Normally this would be the time when start looking for a publisher to take us the rest of the way, but this time we want to make the game that we want – the game that you want – and not the game the publisher wants. Making games costs some serious money, but if everything goes well, we’ll have a great, tightly knit community that’s going to support a lot of awesome content over the years!
We at Bugbear have a long track record of making high-octane racing games, and we know that we can pull it off with your support. We’ve been making racing games for over 14 years, and this is our tenth (10!) game. We’re recreating a type of experience we’ve already shipped three times on four different platforms, so we do know what we’re doing.
Why Should I Pre-Order?
Early Access.
You get to make this game with us. The game is currently scheduled to be released early 2017, but we have already released an early version showcasing what the engine can do, and that’s going to be available to our supporters only.
The early access version is just a start, though! We will actively listen to our supporters’ feedback and build the game on that. What works will get enhanced, and what sucks will get fixed.
Shape the game into something you want to play!
Support Us.
Pre-ordering really helps us make the game you deserve. Your support is absolutely vital to this game! We have decided to make this game without a publisher, but to do that we need to fund the game by other means. That’s where you come in. Getting our fans to support us gives us the creative freedom we need.
What you get out of the deal is access to the game as it is developed, and you get to communicate DIRECTLY with the development team to make sure we’re making the all-out racing game that you want. By backing us now, you get to have your say. Want a specific game mode? Don’t think your favorite car model is included? Let’s hear it!
We will not make compromises to appeal to the mainstream – this one is for our dedicated fans!
A Great Deal.
In addition to being a part of the creation of the game, it’s also a great deal! The final product will cost more than what the pre-order does, so by supporting us now you’re also saving a lot of money.
Pre-ordering is also your chance to get many neat options that are not going to be available later – custom cars and paintjobs, a chance to be featured in the game or your name listed in the credits. There are also digital extras like the soundtrack and exclusive wallpapers, and those might not be available later.
We expect to build a great community around Wreckfest. Our early supporters are going to be its stars and we’re going to make sure they’re recognized with special community badges.

‘Wreckfest’ PS4 And Xbox One Release Date Coming In 2017, Says Bugbear.
Wreckfest Photo: Bugbear.
Bugbear confirmed plans to release Wreckfest on consoles over the weekend, appeasing those who’ve been asking about ports since the game’s 2013 Early Access debut, but the studio says it’s going to be a few months before we see Wreckfest make the jump to PS4 and Xbox One.
It’s been almost three years since the general public got its hands on Wreckfest , then known as Next Car Game , and boy have things changed during that 32 month window. For starters, the NCG Kickstarter campaign was ultimately a failure, leaving many fans hesitant to support Next Car Game when it hit Early Access during the 2013 holiday season. But Wreckfest flourished, selling roughly 300,000 copies (according to SteamSpy), despite focusing on a motorsport that doesn’t get much mainstream attention in 2016.
Now, Bugbear says it can finally confirm Wreckfest is coming to PS4 and Xbox One. The game is currently available for pre-order on both platforms and, just like the PC version, Bugbear says Wreckfest will initially be available via each console’s early access program. There’s currently no word on exactly when either version will emerge; however, the studio says fans can expect to see Wreckfest hit consoles sometime in 2017.
In addition to confirming console launch plans, Bugbear used its latest stint in headlines to announce the studio’s second project, Stuntfest . The studio is moving on from demolition derby, but not necessarily from the act of destroying automobiles, and will instead focus on the kinds of over-the-top stunts we used to see in games like Burnout 3: Takedown. Right now, all we know is that Stuntfest will launch in early access, following in the footsteps of Wreckfest , and the unfinished build will only cost $15.99 when it debuts this fall. Bugbear says fans can expect “a wacky vehicle-based physics playground” that lets you build and perform stunts using a variety of vehicles that include everything “from mobility scooters to shopping carts.” The studio also believes the final product will appeal to both racing fans and those not fond of driving for sport.

Demolition Car Game Wreckfest Coming to PS4/Xbox One, as Dev Reveals New Physics-Based Racer.
"Thanks to the raw power of both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, we will be able to unleash our undistilled vision of a next-generation demolition racing game on consoles."

Bugbear Entertainment today announced that its destruction-themed car game Wreckfest is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while the studio has unveiled a new project that sounds awesome.
In a statement, game director Janne Alanenpää said Wreckfest for consoles will debut through "early access." This is likely a reference to the Xbox One's Game Preview program, which lets users buy games that are still in development. However, Sony does not have a similar program for PS4, which is keeping another game, Ark: Survival Evolved, from coming to PS4. GameSpot has followed up with Bugbear in an attempt to get more details. The PC version of Wreckfest remains in Early Access on Steam.
Whatever the case, Alanenpää is excited to bring Wreckfest to consoles. "Thanks to the raw power of both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, we will be able to unleash our undistilled vision of a next-generation demolition racing game on consoles as well and expand our audience considerably," Alanenpää explained.
You can preorder Wreckfest for PS4 and Xbox One right now through the game's website. Doing so allows you to become "among the first" to play on console, though no other details were provided.
Bugbear's other big announcement today was the new game Stuntfest. This is described by the developer as a "wacky vehicle-based physics playgound" where you can make your own stunts with an editor tool. In addition to cars, you can drive things like mobility scooters and shopping carts. The studio has teamed up with an unspecified "investing partner" for this project.
Stuntfest will be released on PC through Steam Early Access in October 2016; the full game is due out sometime in 2017. You can preorder the game now for $15, which Bugbear notes is a limited-time price.
To celebrate today's announcements, Bugbear launched a "late summer" sale on its website, where it's offering discounts of up to 50 percent on Wreckfest and Stuntfest. These deals are good through Sunday, September 4.
Bugbear is a veteran racing game studio, having created the FlatOut racing series and Ridge Racer Unbounded.

All I know about sit-on mowers comes from David Lynch The Straight Story and Hank Hill. They seem calm, pleasant things. I do high speed deathracers not consider. Well, I did not, until I Wreckfest [official website] developers Bugbear added to their Smashtastic mowers race in the last big update for Early Access and ragdoll physics thrown for riders their mowers in the carnage. Now I’m fascinated by this muddy karting.
I think they remove the mower blades before the race, however. Babies.
Wreckfest (formerly known as the Next Working Title Car Game and currently listed on Steam as Next Car Game: Wreckfest) is a video racing game in development by Bugbear Entertainment, the creators of the derby racing series style property demolition FlatOut known. Wreckfest is described as the spiritual successor to the FlatOut series and a cross between FlatOut, Destruction Derby and the 1989 cult PC Racer Street Rod. A notable feature of the game engine is the use of soft-body damage modeling, which allows location-based damage that affects vehicle driving dynamics realistically.
The final game is intended to include a variety of game features, including traditional racing tournaments track and demolition. The race gameplay follows the same basic rules that most modern racing games like Need for Speed or Gran Turismo. The player controls a car in a race or demolition derby, the goal being to win the race or be the only survivor of the derby, respectively. Before participating in an event, the player must choose a vehicle, select either a manual or automatic transmission, and finally select a dirt or tarmac track on which the race.
Wreckfest to release late 2017 on PC, early 2018 on PS4 & Xbox One.
Wreckfest has been one of the those games that we have been looking forward to playing for a very, very long time. Updates have been few and far between, but that looks set to change thanks to a new announcement today.
Car customization: A complex system, allowing the players to fully customize their cars for their individual needs, like more armor to withstand the competitors or more powerful engines.
More cars, more tracks: THQ Nordic and Bugbear Entertainment will make sure a constant flow of additional content will be added on a regular basis for the remaining months of the Early Access program.
New multiplayer server: To guarantee an outstanding racing and wrecking experience, an Official Wreckfest Server will be opened.
