I bought this adapter yesterday I installed the driver just how it supposed to install but when i trying to play every time after a couple minutes it's turns off automatically. I don't know why and dont know what to do to fix it. 3 out of 7 people found this helpful. Easy to use. Finally got it. Microsoft took so much time to release it. Xbox elite controller and this connector beat them all. 3 out of 4 people found this helpful. Just the Right fit to system. Finishing piece in the killer home system, now bring on the Seahawks! 3 out of 5 people found this helpful. Great size. Bought it a few week ago really helpful on the go . 2 out of 4 people found this helpful. Can't live without it. 2 out of 3 people found this helpful. Trouble trying to use it. I bought this a couple of weeks ago and it has been horrible. It has been really difficult to install in windows 10. It was supposed to auto install but it didn't, I had to look through the web and try several things before it actually worked. Now that it is working, at least I can use it and has not had any other problems. 2 out of 4 people found this helpful. Works perfectly for me. Before getting this, I was using one of the Xbox one controllers that have Bluetooth to connect your controller to the PC. However, it was very frustrating because half of the time the controller wouldn't connect and when it would, it would usually disconnect itself randomly (usually in a boss fight). I decided to give this adapter a chance and so far it has really helped. It comes with a cable so you can place the adapter directly in line with your controller. I haven't disconnected yet while using it. I am definitely pleased. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful. Could of been great. Product works amazingly with original Xbox one controllers However most games on pc wont recognize the controller without some third party software. Bought mainly to use for Guitar hero 3 but rb4 guitars/drums wont connect or be recognized by the third party software needed for them to work with the game, Sync button doesn't sync without mashing it in all the way. Windows 10 play anywhere games like Resident evil 7 would not even read the controller with the adapter but would read the controller if connected to wire. Tested in 2 different P'cs for Resident evil 7 / Games not defective as certain games on steam would read the controller instantly. It's so worth every penny if you have a surface. I have the surface pro 4 and I love being able to play my Xbox one anywhere with just that. Good. Works well. I get a error with Visual C when I turn on the controller. not sure what that's about. You can set up your Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 on any Windows 10 device, and you can set up the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows on any Windows 10, Windows 8.1, or Windows 7 tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. There are two steps to setting up the adapter—connecting the adapter to your device and binding your controller. Connect the adapter to your device. Make sure that your Windows device is up to date and connected to the Internet. Plug the adapter into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on your Windows device, and installation will happen automatically. Drivers for the adapter are built into the Windows operating system. If you're using the adapter on a desktop or other device in which the USB port doesn't face the controller or is blocked by metallic objects, you should use the included USB extender so you'll avoid wireless interference and have a good line of sight to your controller. Bind your controller. If you've used an Xbox One Wireless Controller before, you'll be familiar with the binding process to pair a controller with a console, or in this case, the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows. Follow these steps to bind your controller to the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows: Connect the Xbox Wireless Adapter to your Windows 10 device (so it has power), and then push the button on the Xbox Wireless Adapter. Make sure the controller is powered on, and then press the controller bind button. The controller LED will blink while it's connecting. Once it connects, the LED on the adapter and controller both go solid. Some PCs, such as Microsoft Surface Studio, have Xbox Wireless built in. This enables you to connect your controller wirelessly by using Add a device in Settings . You can also use this method to connect using your Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows instead of pushing the button on the adapter. On your PC, go to Settings > Devices . Choose Add Bluetooth or other device . Select Everything else . Select Xbox Wireless Controller . Click Done . If you have trouble setting up your adapter or controller, see Troubleshoot the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows. Troubleshoot the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows. On this page. Because the drivers for the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows are embedded within the Windows 10 operating system, the adapter should auto-install. If it doesn't, try the following solutions: Make sure your Windows 10 device is connected to the Internet. Make sure your Windows 10 device is up to date by going to Windows Update on your device and checking for available updates. Reboot your device and try again. Ensure your USB ports are not disabled in your Device Manager. Try another USB 2.0 or 3.0 port. Try reinstalling the drivers in case they have partially installed. To do so, you need to uninstall the drivers. Follow these steps to complete this process: Go to your Device Manager . Locate Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network adapters section. Click Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to bring up the Properties window. Click on the Driver tab. On the Driver tab, click the Uninstall button. On the confirmation window, check Delete the driver software for this device . Unplug the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and reboot your Windows 10 device. Once the device is back on, plug in the adapter. If the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows still does not install, follow all of the above steps thoroughly one more time. If this doesn't work, your adapter needs to be replaced. See How to get service for your Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows. If your adapter was installed and working, but it did not respond after waking your computer, this may be because your USB controller doesn't have Wake on Wireless turned on by default. This can typically be managed by the USB controller driver. There are two solutions to this: While your Windows 10 device is running, unplug the device, and then plug it back in. If that didn't work, you can adjust the properties to enable Wake on Wireless . In the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows Properties window, make sure to select Allow the device to wake the computer . To do so, follow these steps: Go to your Device Manager . Select Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network adapters section. Click Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to bring up the Properties window. Click the Power Management tab. Select Allow this device to wake the computer , and then select OK . If the binding instructions are not working, try the following solutions: Ensure you're within range (6 meters or less) of the adapter and it's in line of sight to the controller. If you have an Xbox controller, try rebinding your controller to the console by pressing the bind button on the console, and then the bind button on the controller. The LEDs will flash and become solid when the binding is successful. If your controller does bind, you have isolated the issue to the Wireless Adapter for Windows. If your controller does not bind to your console, see Set up the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows. Unplug your adapter, reboot your device, and then plug it back in (to another port if possible), and try again. Notes This app is only available on Windows 10. The app is available prior to November 12, but the function to update controllers will not be available until November 12. Ensure there is no wireless interference. Interference can degrade your wireless signal, which will affect audio performance. If your controller disconnects frequently from the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, this is typically due to environmental issues, such as no line of sight (between the controller and adapter) or a heavy amount of interference, such as from metallic objects. Try these suggestions to improve the connection between your controller and adapter: Make sure you're within optimal range of the adapter (6 meters or less). Use the USB extender to bring the adapter closer to your controller. Ensure you have good line of sight between your adapter and your controller. Use the USB extender to help if needed. For these two devices to talk successfully, they need the most unobstructed opportunity to do so. Move the adapter away from metal and do not set it directly on a metal surface. PC adapter allows you to connect up to eight Xbox One controllers simultaneously. Last updated by Oscar Dayus on August 3, 2017 at 3:44AM. You are now subscribed. Microsoft has unveiled a new iteration of its Xbox Wireless Adapter, which allows you to connect Xbox One controllers to your PC. The new device will hit stores on August 8. The adapter is capable of wirelessly connecting to eight Xbox One controllers at once, and is 66% smaller than the old design. Be warned, however, that like the old device, this dongle is only compatible with Windows 10 devices (including laptops and tablets) that support USB 2.0 or 3.0, and does not support Xbox 360 controllers. The new Xbox Wireless Adapter will cost exactly the same as its predecessor--US $25 / AU $30. European pricing has not yet been revealed, but it's likely the dongle will continue to cost £20 / €23 in the region. If you don't fancy shelling out extra money, you can of course connect your Xbox One controller to your PC via a micro-USB cable. This route also supports older versions of Windows, unlike the new wireless adapter. Just yesterday, Microsoft revealed three new Xbox One controller designs. They're called Green/Grey, Patrol Tech, and Volcano Shadow, and you can take a look at them all here. "xbox%20one%20adapter" We have found 0 items that match "xbox%20one%20adapter". News comes from Redmond today that Microsoft will be offering a new model of Xbox One. It will ship with a larger 1 TB hard drive, which is double the storage capacity of the original Xbox One. It will also feature a new matte black finish, with the original Xbox One being outfitted in a glossy exterior. This is a small upgrade, but with the size of games getting larger and larger, it makes a lot of sense to offer the larger internal storage, even though the Xbox One did add the ability to use USB storage some time ago. As for the finish, I think the matte should be a good look and should help with dust and fingerprints. Also being announced today, and being bundled with the new Xbox, is an updated version of the wireless controller. The big change is that Microsoft has finally ditched the proprietary headset connector, and has now moved to the normal 3.5mm jack. More subtle, but certainly notable, is that the bumpers have been tweaked, and the new controllers can now be updated wirelessly. The first gen controllers could also be updated, however they had to be connected to the Xbox One with a USB cable, so this should make it a lot easier to keep the controller firmware up to date. I have only updated my controllers one time because it’s a bit of a pain to do so, but when Microsoft drastically reduced the connection time when powering on the controllers, it was worth my time to find a cable and do that. With the new ones, even less hassle is necessary which is always a good thing. There is also a new camouflage design in silver and black available for those that want something different. The final bit of Xbox news today is that Microsoft is finally releasing a wireless adapter for Windows PCs, letting you use the Xbox One controllers on your PC with no cable necessary. The adapter is just $25, or bundled with a controller for $80, and should come in very handy for anyone who wants to do PC gaming with a controller, or more importantly for those that want to use the upcoming game streaming from their Xbox One to their PC, which is something I got to try first hand at Build. The wireless adapter is coming this fall. The new 1 TB model of the Xbox One will be bundled with the Halo Master Chief Collection and available starting on June 16 th for $399, with the 500 GB model being permanently moved to $349. Microsoft discontinues Xbox One Kinect adapter. Good luck trying to find one for your Xbox One S or X. RIP Xbox One Kinect, 2013-2017. Samit Sarkar/Polygon. Microsoft has ended production of the Kinect Adapter, the USB accessory that is required to connect the Xbox One Kinect sensor to an Xbox One S, Xbox One X or Windows device, the company confirmed to Polygon today. “After careful consideration, we decided to stop manufacturing the Xbox Kinect Adapter to focus attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming accessories across Xbox One and Windows 10,” a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement to Polygon. As for any plans to bring back the item in the future, the representative declined to discuss Microsoft’s product roadmap, but said the adapter “will no longer be available.” This appears to mark the end of support for Kinect on Xbox One. The writing was on the wall in 2016, when Microsoft launched the Xbox One S without the proprietary port necessary to hook up the Kinect directly to the console. The voice-enabled camera peripheral can be plugged into a USB port on a PC, Xbox One S or Xbox One X, but only via the Kinect Adapter. Microsoft ends free Kinect adapter promotion for Xbox One S owners. For eight months following the debut of the Xbox One S, Microsoft offered the adapter free to Kinect-owning customers who were upgrading from an Xbox One to an Xbox One S. The company shut down that promotion in March 2017, and did not bring back the offer when it launched the Xbox One X last November. When Microsoft confirmed the end of the deal to Polygon in April 2017, it noted that “the adapter is available for purchase” for $39.99. As annoying as that extra cost might have been to consumers, it meant that people at least had an option if they wanted to use a Kinect with an Xbox One S or Xbox One X. But the Kinect Adapter has now been out of stock for months at the Microsoft Store and retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop, fueling speculation that Microsoft has discontinued the item. In fact, if you search for “Kinect” on the Microsoft Store website, the adapter doesn’t even show up in the results anymore; we were only able to access the sold-out product listing from an old link. Because the Kinect Adapter has been so hard to find lately, it’s fetching exorbitant prices on the secondary market. Third-party sellers on Amazon are charging about $300 for a new item — 7.5 times the retail price of the accessory, and more than the cost of an Xbox One S — while used adapters on eBay have gone for hundreds of dollars in recent weeks. This has produced a rash of one-star reviews on the Kinect Adapter’s out-of-stock Microsoft Store listing, with customers raging in disbelief that they have to buy the device in the first place and in frustration that they can’t do so at a reasonable cost. Kinect is officially dead. Really. Officially. It’s dead. Without a Kinect, of course, you won’t be able to play any Xbox One games that require the sensor. This is perhaps why Microsoft re-released some first-party Kinect titles with traditional controls added, including Disneyland Adventures , Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure and Zoo Tycoon , for the Xbox One X launch. The Xbox One dashboard hasn’t supported Kinect-based gesture controls since November 2015. Voice navigation and Cortana functionality do not require Kinect; except for “hey Cortana, Xbox on,” all commands will work with a simple headset microphone. And a Microsoft rep noted to Polygon today that the company added support for USB webcams to the Xbox One last October, enabling those cameras to be used for features such as Mixer livestreaming and Skype video chat. As for the Xbox One Kinect itself, Microsoft announced in October 2017 that it had ended production of the peripheral. At the time, the company said in a statement to Polygon that “it is not the end of the journey for the technology” because, in part, “Kinect continues to delight tens of millions of Xbox owners.” Today, however, Microsoft has fully closed the door to the possibility of new Kinect users. Correction (Jan. 3): The re-released Kinect games in question still support the peripheral, but Microsoft updated them to make them playable without Kinect. We’ve edited the article to reflect this.
