10 Best Xbox One Multiplayer Games You Can Play Offline.
Rejoice, for the resurrection of local multiplayer is upon us.
Don't listen to the haters, local multiplayer is the best kind of multiplayer. Being able to see the distraught look on your buddy's face after you come back from 4-0 down to beat him in Rocket League, or fighting your way through a shooter or RPG literally shoulder-to-shoulder are experiences that can't be mimicked by online gaming.
Now that the frenzy surrounding online gaming on consoles has died down, it looks like developers and publishers are finally starting to appreciate the value of offline multiplayer. The Xbox One has been getting in on this revival, and is now home to games from both humble indie developers and all-powerful AAA publishers that have been offering the kinds of experiences we fondly remember from the N64-PS2 era.
So charge up your gamepads, get your buddies to bring theirs over to yours, and dive into some old-school fun with this list of the best offline multiplayer games available for the Xbox One.

Complete List 4 Player Offline Multiplayer Games XBox 360.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Basically I went through nearly every game for xbox 360 in the xbox catalog on xbox.com to see if it said 1-4 players offline. Then i cross-referenced that info with gamespot for both a confirmation of 1-4 players offline and a rank mainly based on the gamespot score. The list may be missing some stuff and may not be 100% accurate but I can guarantee that each of these games is listed on either gamespot or xbox.com as having 1-4 player offline competive and/or cooperative modes.
For the most part i did not include sports games, cards games, or puzzle games.
* = rank of 8.5 or more.
left 4 dead offline is only 2 players under 1 system which is one of the reasons i returned it.
Nice list man. I wish we could have more cool games with split-4. its damn fun.
halo its the best exemple, imo.
Left 4 Dead HAS to only be 2 player offline, because of the split screen. There's so many enemies coming at you from different angles that you wouldn't be able to see if it were 4 person split screen. I also can't imagine it being offline multiplayer in a single screen because there are times you have to split from the group for strategic reasons.
I think Left 4 Dead is a GREAT game, and the 2 player offline is really fun, because the AI characters always have your back, and you don't have to have theirs. Even though they can't take part in strategy, they're still nice to have.
I admit, it WOULD be fun to have 4 player offline, but I just can't see how it's possible.
Castle Crashers is a fun little multiplayer offline too.
Forgot Blur dude killer_beanz.
was just about to post that,
add BLUR to your list.

Great game, must have for racer fans IMO. Mario Kart+ Real Cars= Win.
Another great game with 4 Player Offline splitscreen is The Club. It has oldschool, 2-4 player splitscreen deathmatch, team deathmatch and other modes. It has sharp graphics, a solid amount of levels, a huge gun selection and the gameplay is just fast paced, violent shootouts. The splitscreen multi reminds me of a Mature third person version of Goldeneye deathmatches that I used to have on N64. I recommend it to anyone who likes action games and/or 3 to 4 player splitscreen games. And I agree with everyone here who said that Blur should be added to the local multiplayer list as well. (The Club is from the same developer, Bizarre Creations)

6 Awesome 4-Player Games for Xbox One.
There’s nothing wrong with playing games solo, but sometimes a social element can add a lot to the experience. Whether you and your friends are working together to take down vicious enemies or battling it out to see who reigns supreme, multiplayer gaming can be a blast. The only problem? It’s not always easy to find games that support multiplayer in any meaningful way.
Below, we look at some of the very best games that let four players team up to work together for a common goal, whether it’s to tackle an enormous monster or to build the most impressive structure you can dream up. The one thing they have in common is that playing with friends adds a lot to the experience of each of these games.
Source: 2K Games.
Evolve is a four-player co-op shooter in which everyone works together using unique special abilities to slay an enormous beast. The twist is that a fifth player controls the beast.
Designed by the team behind the Left 4 Dead series — who knows their way around a cooperative shooter — Evolve delivers some of the most nail-biting action you’re likely to find, provided everyone knows what they’re doing. It’s a game with a high learning curve, but when everyone plays to the strengths of their roles, it’s a ton of fun.
2. Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition.
This insanely addictive hack-and-slash dungeon crawler lets you play with up to three friends, either online or on your couch. While it’s fun to play on your own, rampaging through dungeons with four people is definitely the way to go if you can. There’s nothing that solidifies friendships like the mass slaughter of an entire demon army.
Better yet, when you play with others the difficult level ramps up, which makes the combat much more strategic and enjoyable. The only hitch is that you’ll want to make sure you get to the loot drops before your friends do. A game this demonic can’t be all about friendship and altruism, right?
Source: 2K Games.
3. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.
Are you ready to go back to Pandora? This series of first-person shooters offers some of the most satisfying gameplay around, with big, gorgeous vistas to explore and tons of nasty enemies to pump full of lead. The Handsome Collection , which bundles Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel together, offers hours and hours of co-op gaming.
One of the keys to the series’ popularity is that treasure chests are scattered around everywhere, and they’re full of sweet, sweet loot. The game has hundreds of gun types, all with randomized stats, so it quickly becomes your mission to find and equip the best gear possible.
When you play with a group of friends, you’ll have to grab as much loot as you can, because it’s first come, first served. Sure, you can give your buddy the high-powered rifle you just found, but what’s he going to give you in exchange? There’s no better way to experience this game than with a party of four.
4. Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.
In this day and age, if you own an electronic device with a screen, chances are you can play Minecraft on it. This ridiculously popular game is kind of like an endless digital set of Legos. All you have to do is collect materials, and you can use them to build whatever your heart desires, whether it’s an underground cavern or an entire city. Just watch out for the creepers.
If you have four controllers, you can dive into some co-op action with your buddies on the same screen. If you take the game online, however, up to eight players can mine for resources and build things together.
Source: Electronic Arts.
5. Dragon Age: Inquisition.
In addition to packing in dozens upon dozens of hours of fantasy action role-playing, the makers of Dragon Age: Inquisition have also loaded it up with a totally separate co-op mode. Up to four players can team up to go dungeon crawling through bite-sized environments made up of semi-randomized rooms.
Loot is the important part here, because between outings you can spend the gold you collect to open treasure chests that contain potions, equipment, item recipes, and the like. Then you gear up for another romp in the caverns.
Source: Square Enix.
6. Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris.
This multiplayer-focused title has very little to do with the Tomb Raider remake that’s getting a sequel this year. Instead, it’s a sequel to the excellent 2010 game Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light . The basic idea of that game was that you and a buddy get together to explore exotic locales, slaying beasts and navigating environmental puzzles and traps on your way to finding treasure.
This time around, four players can join in the fun, doing many of the same things, only in Egypt. But it’s not all flowers, hearts, and cooperation. Like the recent Mario games for Wii U, multiple players can and will work together in the game, but they can also compete to see who can collect the most goodies. Check this game out if you like helping your friends right up to the point where you throw them under the bus.

6 Co-Op Games for Xbox One.
1. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.
You've come to know and love the peashooters and sunflowers of the original Plants vs. Zombies (and you've probably logged more hours with them than you care to admit). With the Xbox One, you can take this delightful tower defense game to the big screen. Play Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare online alongside other plants or as part of the zombie horde. The game will also offer an online co-op for four players, in addition to an offline split screen co-op just for the Xbox One.
Available Spring 2014 ($39.99).
2. Project Spark.
Remember when you played in the sandbox with your friends as a kid? Remember how you built beautiful castles and staged epic battles? Project Spark is that same sandbox, but rather than grains of sand, pixels are your playthings. This game lets you create whatever wild game world you want, with a unique look and your own set of rules. For co-op, you can share your creations with friends or work on the same game together.
Available for Xbox One beta January 2014.
3. Call of Duty: Ghosts.
With the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts on the new generation of consoles, the crew at Activision and Infinity Ward have made huge leaps in how you work with and against other players. The newest entry in the franchise has seven new multiplayer modes and 20 new killstreaks. Ghosts is also making a first foray into dynamic environments, so you can blow up a gas station or flood a map to change the course of a match.
Available Nov. 5, 2013 ($59.99).
4. Need for Speed Rivals.
The next generation of consoles is opening new possibilities in the world of driving games. Rather than simply push for better and better times on set courses, developers are blending single player and multiplayer driving with an open world experience. Need for Speed Rivals is one such example, and it will be available just days before the Xbox One launch. This game lets you cross into your friends' games, giving a co-op edge to the wild chases and competitions on the street.
Available Nov. 19, 2013 ($59.99).
5. Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag.
Pirates? Stealth? Multiplayer? You can have it all in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag . The multiplayer gameplay feels more like a mind game than a show of brute strength. On top of the free-for-all and team options of previous titles, Black Flag lets you team up with other players for a co-op experience in the Wolfpack mode. Outthink your enemies and strategize with your friends to stay alive.
Available Oct. 29, 2013 ($59.99).
6. Just Dance 2014.
The classic party game has been amped up thanks to the new capabilities of the Kinect controller. Up to six people can perform together in Just Dance 2014 , and they won't all be doing the same choreography. Ubisoft also added online multiplayer for the first time, so you can compete for glory on the World Dance Floor. If busting a move isn't your thing, play the part of Party Master and direct the show, posing challenges and picking new songs for the dancers.
Available Nov. 19, 2013 ($49.99).
Whether you're piled on the couch together or locking horns in an online multiplayer adventure, nothing quite compares to the fun of gaming with your friends. Thanks to the technological advances coming in the next generation of consoles, gamers will have many new co-op experiences at their fingertips this fall.
The Xbox One, which hits shelves Nov. 22, has several titles that push the bounds of what gamers can do together. From the casual to the hardcore, players of all kinds can find something to enjoy. These six titles are bringing new ideas and new multiplayer fun to the living room. Several will also be available on PC or PlayStation 4, but some are exclusive to the Microsoft camp.
What co-op titles are you most excited to play on the new Xbox?

10 Best Xbox One Multiplayer Games You Can Play Offline.
10. Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
One of the big disappointments of Halo 5: Guardians was its omission of a local split-screen mode. However, to soften the blow, 2014's Master Chief Collection - a glorious bundle featuring remastered versions of the first four Halo games - has full four-player split-screen support.
The campaign modes in each of the games support two-player split-screen, while all the competitive modes can be played with up to four people locally or online. This means you can relive all those legendary Halo experiences, be it a nostalgic Capture the Flag match in the original Halo's Blood Gulch, a close-quarters deathmatch in the brilliant Lockout arena, or a pop at the bizarre sports game Grifball - in which you try to plant a bomb-ball at the opponent's end of the pitch while evading the swings of the opposing team's Gravity Hammers.
The Master Chief Collection contains some of the best maps and modes in all split-screen shooter history, making it a must for the discerning multiplayer gamer.

Working together with your friends to overcome challenges or solve problems is generally a good experience in life, and it becomes even better when it happens in a game universe. That’s why, even though there are lots of online multiplayer games, many of us still seek out chances to pile onto the couch for some old-fashioned local co-op.
The Xbox One has been on the market for nearly two year, and what a busy time it has been. From triple-A productions to upstart indie titles, co-op gaming fans have lots of choices fo this console. Here are some of our favorites.
Xbox One coop games.
1. Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
Halo has long been one of the jewels in Microsoft’s gaming crown. The franchise has fans among all levels of gamers. The Master Chief Collection brings all of that multiplayer glory to the Xbox One. Each of the different games has a particular set of multiplayer modes, some competitive and some co-operative. There’s something for every mood.
2. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.
Garden Warfare is also a shooter, but this one is more charming and friendly than the usual military setting. The universe of PopCap’s hugely successful mobile game turned out to be great fodder for an FPS. As with most games in the genre, this one has both online multiplayer and couch co-op options. If you’ve already had your fill of the maps and modes of this game, then hold tight; the sequel is due out in the spring.
Console gaming has lots of options for sports games, but the changes in the newest FIFA title are definitely good news for fans of the beautiful game. The franchise is always finessing how the players handle and how they look on the pitch, and FIFA 16 promises to have great experiences for multiplayer action. Plus, this entry finally brings the women’s league into play.
4. No Time To Explain.
With a title inspired by countless 80s sci-fi movies, this game promises to be a goofy good time from the start. No Time To Explain is a fiendishly difficult platforming game where you chase your future self through bizarre and cartoony levels, fighting off ever-more zany enemies. You’re armed with a jetpack gun that doubles as your weapon and your tool to maneuver over chasms, spikes and other obstacles. It’s a fun game to play solo, and adding more people just doubles the madness.
This peculiarly-titled game has a strange history to boot. The entire project was designed based on prompts from the studio’s Twitter followers. At its core, #IDARB is a sports game: control a ball and score goals. But when as many as eight people are playing the game using a single controller, you can bet things will get pretty zany. Remaining true to its social roots, you can even interfere in friends’ games with special commands on Twitter or Twitch.
6. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime.
Independent developers are often finding innovative ways to combine genres, mechanics and themes that create unique new experiences, even for players who think they’ve seen everything. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime has elements of shooters and platformers, of resource-management games and rougelikes, all in service of two players defeating the spread of anti-love in the universe as they pilot a spaceship and man its various stations.. Don’t be fooled by the cutesy-sounding premise; the game is challenging and exciting. You can play it solo with the help of a computer AI, but the two-player co-op version is really the best way to experience the game.
7. Quiplash.
For co-op gaming, sometimes you want an experience that doesn’t rely on typical gaming skills. Or maybe you don’t have enough controllers for everyone at your party and you want everyone to be involved with the shenanigans. Enter Quiplash . Up to eight people can put their wits and humor to the test using their smartphones or tablets. The more you can impress your friends with your sharp or silly responses to questions, the more points you’ll get. And even when you aren’t writing the quips, you can still make your voice heard with audience voting, which even works via Twitch.
8. Just Dance 2016.
No list of co-op games would be complete without a nod to the always entertaining Just Dance franchise. Every year, these games keep players amazed, amused and occasionally embarrassed by showing off their sweet moves (or lack thereof). It’s a great title that can keep groups of all sizes and all ages happy. The 2016 edition is out in October and now works with your smartphone as the controller, but you can always enjoy the tunes and routines of past years.
