Gabe / on Mon, Nov 6 2017 at 10:52 am. The Xbox One X. The Xbox One did not win me over this console generation. I’ve said a lot of bad things about the console since it came out, although suggesting that playing an Xbox One during pregnancy is dangerous to the fetus, might be the worst. I’ve made no secret about the fact that I play all my games on the PS4, that I’ve really enjoyed the PS4 Pro and that I’ve actually outfitted my entire family with Playstations so that we can all play together. A few years earlier I was a huge Xbox 360 fan and refused to even touch a PS3 controller. I was ready to love the Xbox One but it ended up being a big clunky device that couldn’t tell if it wanted to be my cable box or my game system. It felt slow and unfriendly to use and I don’t think I played it more than a handful of times. It’s a testament to his character that in spite of all this, Major Nelson still wanted me to have an Xbox One X a few days before release. It has honestly been years since I even thought about the Xbox but I decided to see what they had done since I left and what the new hardware had to offer. Just to be 100% clear, this was a free review version of the hardware given to me by MS. It was the same package they sent out to the big review sites from what I understand. I should start by saying I’ve got the right setup for the Xbox One X. I have a curved Samsung TV that can do 4K and all the HDR lighting effects. I’ve been really impressed by the Playstation Pro and was curious how the Xbox One X compared. On paper the X is more powerful than the PS4 Pro and Jerry could tell you exactly why. What I can tell you, is that I had played Assassin’s Creed Origins on the Pro for about twenty hours. I booted it up on the Xbox One X just to see if I could tell a difference and I ended up restarting entirely. I spent the night catching back up to where I had been just because playing it on the X was so much better. Back when Jerry and I lived together we would build our own computers. The difference was that he knew what he was doing and would pay more for the right hardware. On the other hand I had no idea what I was doing and bought the cheapest crap I could. I always loved playing the same game on his machine because it just felt so much better. Playing a game on the Xbox One X feels like playing it on a high end custom built gaming PC that your computer tech roommate built. Assassin’s Creed Origins just screams on the X and the HDR lighting effects that were cool on the Pro are jaw dropping now. It never skips a frame even when you’re soaring around as Senu which is something the Pro struggled with. The game just looks stunning and runs like lightning. I replayed the first twenty or so hours and marveled at the same scenes I had just played on the PS4 Pro. It was like playing a different game honestly. Meanwhile the XBox One X itself is small and silent the entire time. I never even heard a fan kick on after playing it for hours. The new user interface is a welcome improvement as well. I spent the weekend switching between games and trying to get comfortable with the new set up. Everything seemed to be where I expected it now. The things I wanted to do like check my friends list, or jump to another game were all just a click away. It seems to be a design that puts my games and what I’m currently playing front and center. The UI itself is snappy to and pops up quickly when summoned. It feels so much better to use than the old Xbox interface I was familiar with. I took a look at a bunch of other games that had been enhanced for the Xbox One. All of the ones that I had played on my Pro, like the new COD ran better on the Xbox. Even games that don’t have an Xbox One specific update seem to be helped by the extra hardware although I found this much harder to discern. Destiny 2 feels smoother on the X but it’s really hard to tell unless I have them set up side by side…which I did. Halo 5 got a graphical bump and playing the Xbox One X version was definitely cool but I’m not sure I would do another play through at this point. Forza 7 was another Xbox exclusive that looks absolutely astonishing on the X. Exclusives are one thing but I have to say after looking at Assassin’s Creed the Xbox One X, this is where I will play all my multiplatform games from now on. Microsoft claims they have built the most powerful console available and after a weekend with the hardware I have to agree. Lots of folks on Twitter really just want to know if they should upgrade. That’s a hard question for me to answer. I’d say if you have the television for it, the Xbox One X is a worthwhile upgrade. From what I understand you’ll see the benefit of the extra juice even if you can’t do 4k and HDR but I didn’t test this and honestly if you’re gonna shell out the money for the system you really should be seeing everything it’s capable of. I will tell you that I’ve played and own all the modern consoles at this point and the Xbox One X is in my opinion the most impressive. I am just amazed at how how much power they have packed into this small, silent box. My particular problem is that I have invested a significant amount of money in buying Playstations for my family. I had an incredibly hard time getting my kids and even Kara off the Xbox One X this weekend so that I could test it out. It’s true that I got this one for free but my guess is I’ll be buying my own here very shortly. I texted Major Nelson about it over the weekend and just told him how impressed I was with the box. I had previously (half joking) said that the Xbox One was a “garbage system for trash people.” and I wanted to make sure he knew that I really loved this new hardware. I explained that it was so good, I was starting Assassin’s Creed over from the beginning just so I could play it on the Xbox One X. His last text message to me said “Welcome back to Xbox” and I’m not gonna lie to you, I got a little emotional. It feels good to love an Xbox again. It feels good to be back. The 14 Coolest Xbox Live Arcade Games That You Can Now Play on Xbox One. Backward Compatibility for Xbox One is here, and the list of supported games is a pretty long one. Here’s a look at some of our favorite Xbox Live Arcade games, ranging from ‘90s classics to modern masterpieces. Whether you’re looking to race, shoot or survive an apocalypse, there’s something here for everyone. Banjo-Kazooie : Developer Rare’s famous bear and bird first made their debut in 1998, and this classic platformer still holds up. The game is split into nine levels, where you must gather musical notes and jigsaw pieces (called “Jiggies”) to progress. Stars Banjo and Kazooie are occasionally aided by their friend Mumbo Jumbo – a shaman who can use magical powers to transform them into several creatures like termites, pumpkins, bees, walruses and crocodiles. Beyond Good & Evil HD : An HD remake of one of the original Xbox’s sleeper masterpieces, Beyond Good & Evil HD has you playing as Jade, a young investigative reporter in the midst of exposing a government conspiracy. Joined by your loyal pig friend Pey’j, you set out in this action-adventure to save your planet and its inhabitants. It’s a brilliant, surreal example of games at their finest. Castle Crashers : One of the games that started it all on Xbox Live, Castle Crashers is a side-scrolling 2D beat-‘em- up that has you battle your way across frozen tundras, deadly lava fields and rival kingdoms with up to three other players. There’s a nicely varied arsenal of combos and magical attacks to choose from, and the art from Dan Paladin is the stuff that 2D dreams are made of. Doom : This is the first-person shooter that (along with Wolfenstein 3D ) started an FPS revolution! The plot is simple: You’re a Marine stationed on Mars when a military experiment goes horribly wrong… and your mission is to blast your way to freedom. You’ll go up against Hell’s army, which includes brutal cacodemons and undead Marines; fortunately, your arsenal of weapons includes the infamous BFG 9000, among others. Online deathmatch lets you battle your friends for dominance of the leaderboards, or team-up with a friend in co-op. Earthworm Jim HD : Hold off on that de-worming for just a moment: Earthworm Jim is back, and this time he’s… still a worm. For the first time, this version of the game lets you grab friends and combine forces for four-player co-op, locally or online. Experience all of the original levels, zany gameplay and a remastered version of the cult classic soundtrack. You’ll get brand new enemies and locations to boot, making this one a no-brainer. Ikaruga : This wild shooter is based on an elegantly executed concept: The enemies come in one of two polarities – black or white – and the player can flip their ship between either polarity at will. When the player ship is black, it may absorb black bullets, but it takes longer to shoot down black ships (and vice versa for white). The result is an intense, thumb-testing battle of brains and brawn – with five levels, cooperative multiplayer, leaderboards, achievements and the option to record and replay levels. Metal Slug 3 : Metal Slug 3 comes to Xbox One in all of its 2D glory. A Japanese cartoon interpretation of classic American action movies like “Rambo” and “Commando,” Metal Slug 3 boasts some spectacularly detailed 2D pixel graphics, animation and pick-up-and-play arcade-style action. Lots of things will go boom, and you can team up with another player for some co-op blasting. Monkey Island: Special Edition : Wannabe pirate Guybrush Threepwood stars in what is undoubtedly one of the finest point-and-click adventures ever devised. He’s on a quest to become the most infamous pirate in the Caribbean, and this remastered edition faithfully re-imagines the internationally acclaimed classic pirate adventure from LucasArts in gorgeous HD. With its new hand-drawn art style, a full voiceover by members of the original Monkey Island franchise cast, and a remastered musical score, you’ll be swashbuckling in your living room like never before. N+ : From Toronto-based developer Metanet Software, N+ is truly the action-platformer deconstructed. With more than 400 levels, a custom level editor that lets you build your own challenges and share them with friends, leaderboards, achievements, the ability to upload your high score runs, and several distinctive flavors of multiplayer, N+ is a supreme test of your gaming precision and mettle. Pac-Man: Championship Edition DX+ : Arguably the finest Pac-Man game ever conceived, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+ builds upon the gameplay of Pac-Man Championship Edition . The foundation is the same as the original: Players control Pac-Man as he travels through a maze collecting dots and avoiding ghosts, which can be eaten by collecting power pellets. The game’s speed increases as the player acquires more points. The bright neon mazes and insane graphical effects make it feel like a Pac-Man rave and breathe new life into one of the all-time quarter-munching arcade classics. Perfect Dark : A spiritual successor to the classic GoldenEye 007 , Perfect Dark is a spy thriller and action game rolled into one. You’ll uncover amazing gadgets and weapons as secret agent Joanna Dark, and everything in the game has a new coat of paint, thanks to this amazing remaster – not to mention multiplayer modes playable across the globe! Plants vs. Zombies : Perhaps the most-played tower defense game ever created, Plants vs. Zombies turns you into a homeowner who must use a variety of different plants to prevent an army of zombies from entering your house and eating your brain for dinner. R-Type Dimensions : Those looking for a side-scrolling space shooter fix need look no further. R-Type Dimensions includes coin-op classics R-Type and R-Type II together in one journey that has you piloting through all 14 alien-infested stages – in their original 2D form, or with all-new 3D graphics. Both Classic and Infinite modes can be played as single-player or multiplayer missions, either locally or online. Super Meat Boy : Weak thumbs need not apply, as Super Meat Boy is as intense as platformers come. Taking the reins of an animated cube of meat, you’re trying to save your girlfriend (who is made of bandages) from an evil, tuxedo-clad fetus in a jar. Super Meat Boy brings the old-school challenge of classic retro titles we all know and love, and streamlines them down to straightforward twitch reflex platforming. You can check all of these classics – and more – out now, via Xbox One Backward Compatibility! ARCADE GAME SERIES: GALAGA. Wish it had a two player mode. 10 out of 10 people found this helpful. The in game machanics (AI, Sprites, ect.) are on the dot. what i don't like is the lack of an option for full screen. I also wanted to play against my brother but I had to use a MAME-like emulator on my phone. These are what I hope are added in an update. Great job with what is done, though! 13 out of 19 people found this helpful. an arcade master piece! it's GALAGA! what's not to love! awesome TRUE to the original best version yet looks. beautiful on the Xbox one. i wish xbox had PHEONIX as well wich was another FAV of mine as a kid in the arcade🙂👍👍 4 out of 4 people found this helpful. XBLA games won't carry over to Xbox One. Microsoft confirms Xbox Live Arcade games from Xbox 360 won't work on next-generation platform. Published by Eddie Makuch on May 22, 2013 at 11:49AM. You are now subscribed. Gamers hoping to bring their library of Xbox Live Arcade games with them to the Xbox One are out of luck. Microsoft has confirmed that these games will not carry over to the next-generation platform. "Those games will continue to run on your Xbox 360 for as long as your Xbox 360 runs," Microsoft Game Studios VP Phil Spencer told GameSpot. "The box is not backward compatible and we think for somebody who invests in a large digital library that you want to keep your [Xbox 360]. Keep that as a vibrant part of the ecosystem." Continuing to play on an Xbox 360 while others are on Xbox One won't be an alienating experience, Spencer said, because friends lists and achievements will remain constant between both platforms. "That's why we've made sure that your identity, your friends, are constant between both platforms. You don't have a separate identity on Xbox one or [Xbox 360]; it's the same, you are you," Spencer said. "My friend's network is the same on both boxes, my achievements are the same. So we think that service component is an important component to keep constant across both devices." The Xbox One not only does not support XBLA titles, but it will not be backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games. Check out GameSpot's full Xbox One conversation with Spencer for more on used games, the platform's Internet requirements, and new business models. The Pinball Arcade Xbox One Overview. The Pinball Arcade brings digital remakes of classic real-world pinball tables to Xbox One, and it is absolutely fantastic. With more than 50 tables and more coming in the future, it is a pinball fan's dream come true. As long as you can afford to keep shelling out for new tables, that is. The Pinball Arcade has been available on other platforms for a while now, but the physics and visuals have never been better than they are right here in the Xbox One version of the game. We share all of the details on The Pinball Arcade for Xbox One right here. Game Details. Publisher: FarSight Studios Developer: FarSight Studios ESRB Rating: “E10" for Everyone 10+ Genre: Pinball Pros: Awesome collection of tables; graphics are great on Xbox One; solid controls; excellent additional info about each table Cons: Can get expensive; occasional glitches. What Is the Pinball Arcade? The Pinball Arcade is a content platform dedicated to delivering high-quality digital re-creations of classic old-school pinball machines. Unlike Zen Studios' Pinball FX series, which is comprised entirely of made-up tables created for the game, The Pinball Arcade tables are real world tables from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and early 00's that really existed in arcades. FarSight Studios meticulously photographs and records and explores every detail of the real tables, and it really is amazing how much work goes into each table. There is a great "Making of Pinball Arcade" video on YouTube that shows you this process. How Much Does The Pinball Arcade Cost? Like I said above, The Pinball Arcade isn't a game so much as it is a platform for delivering the pinball tables themselves. The Pinball Arcade is actually a free download that comes with one table — Tales of the Arabian Nights — and then you have to buy the rest of the tables you want separately. There are currently three seasons' worth of tables, for a total of more than 50, with more coming in the future. You can buy tables, some of which are available in packs of 2, for $5 each. Or you can buy each season for $30 each — Season 1 has 21 tables, Season 2 has 19, and Season 3 has 10. It seems a bit unfair that Season 3 offers far less tables, yet costs the same, but licensing costs and the complexity of the tables means each table costs more to make, which is a pattern that is likely to continue as FarSight has almost certainly exhausted all of the cheap and easy table options already. There are also "Pro" versions of each table, which cost a little more - $8 per table / pack, and adds $10 to the price of a season — that let you move the camera around to freely look at each table but also gives you access to Pro Menus that let you adjust difficulty and other things on the table. You can also buy custom ball packs for $2 each that let you use different colors and styles of the balls themselves. The game comes with some custom balls, which are nice on a couple of tables where seeing the normal silver ball is difficult, so you don't have to buy the custom ball DLC if you don't want. Buying the season packs is clearly the better deal versus buying the tables individually, but it still means you need to spend at least $90 to get everything The Pinball Arcade offers currently. Throw in the pro versions of the seasons, and you're looking at $120. If you only want particular tables, such as licensed ones like Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Twilight Zone, or Terminator 2, or one of the other titles you may remember as a kid, having the option to buy them on their own is certainly nice. Really take a look at what tables you want, though, because you only have to get a handful from each season before buying the whole season for $30 can save you a lot of money in the long run. A great feature is that you can actually play a demo of each table for free before you decide to buy, so you don't have to just blindly jump in. You get a chance to play each table a bit and really see if you like the feel and how everything works. Considering that you can spend hours and hours playing each and every table, you actually get a lot of value here. Spending $5 on one table seems like a lot, but you definitely get your money's worth. Playing pinball isn't about luck or just randomly hitting the ball to keep your game going for a little longer. Pinball tables all have goals and objectives and even stories to tell, and it requires a fair bit of skill to actually see it all. You have to learn how each table works, and then apply your skills to make the ball go where you want to earn high scores. It is totally addictive and, like I said, you can spend a long time playing just one table. In addition to the hours upon hours of gameplay you're getting with each table, they all also have artwork and fliers and advertisements and other info from when they were first introduced, which is very cool to look at. Each table also has a set of pro goals, and then wizard goals that are tricky to get and a lot of fun. And, of course, you're constantly chasing leaderboards for high scores, which can really hook you. You're getting quite a bit of value here, even if the investment seems like a lot at first. Xbox One Version Impressions. As far as the Xbox One version of the game goes, it (along with the PS4 version) is the best yet. The physics have been tuned and adjusted to be even tighter and more realistic than ever, and all of the tables play great. There are still some glitches here and there where the physics might be a little off occasionally or the menus might freak out, but I played through all of the 50+ tables and didn't experience anything game-breaking. The graphics have also received a very nice high res upgrade, which really lets you see all of the fine details on the tables and read all of the text very clearly. Even better is that now there are lighting options, so you can simulate playing a table in different light conditions. The "Dark" option really makes the lights on the tables pop, and while it can make the game slightly harder to play (because you can't see the ball as well) it delivers arguably the most realistic experience because real world arcades were usually pretty darn dark. I have to say that the achievement list is pretty disappointing, as there are only a handful of achievements total and they require you to buy season 1 and season 2 (though, paying $60 for 1000 GamerScore total is in line with normal releases). We just wish they were a little more creative than setting a high score or getting wizard goals on every table. I asked FarSight if a retail release for Xbox One was planned like the PS4 got, but they said that while it has been discussed, no final decision has been made. You maybe could wait for a retail disc and get a bunch of tables and save some money, but you might be waiting for quite a while (and it may never come out at all). Update on Xbox 360 / XBLA Version of The Pinball Arcade. We would be remiss if we didn't talk about the failed Xbox 360 XBLA launch of The Pinball Arcade a couple of years ago. Due to Microsoft's policies at the time, coupled with the sudden bankruptcy of the game's publisher, The Pinball Arcade on XBLA never really took off. It only ever had the first 10 tables it launched with, and that was it, and it was eventually pulled from the service entirely. The good news is that that the Xbox One version won't suffer that same fate. The other good news is that Microsoft's policies on X360 have changed since then and legal issues with publishers are being sorted out, and FarSight Studios is working on getting The Pinball Arcade, complete with all of the tables released so far, back up on XBLA. There is currently no timetable for the re-release, but it is coming eventually. In the meantime, you could always play Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection, which is also pretty great. Update: The Pinball Arcade has been successfully re-released on Xbox 360 / XBLA with all of the tables through Season 3 available! It must be noted that if you already own the original XBLA version (before it was delisted), none of those tables or anything transfers to Xbox One, so you have to re-buy the tables again. This is unfortunate but has been the policy across all platforms so far with The Pinball Arcade. Bottom Line. All in all, The Pinball Arcade release on Xbox One is exactly what pinball fans have been waiting for. It looks great, plays great, and isn't going to have any of the troubles the XBLA version had with not getting new content, so you can invest in the game with confidence knowing that more tables are definitely coming in the future. It can seem a little expensive, but that all is just a matter of perspective depending on how big of a pinball fan you are. Hardcore pinball fans will love every second they spend with just about every table. More casual fans might want to just buy individual tables they're interested in. In either case, you definitely should play it. Pinball is awesome, and The Pinball Arcade offers the best pure pinball around. Disclosure: A review copy was provided by the publisher. The AI difficulty ramps up too quickly. Where's the incentive to keep playing? I was really hoping this game would be similar to the classic Super Sprint and have an upgrade system. 16 out of 17 people found this helpful. Barebones and broken. Looks decent. There is no upgrade system and AI is cheap and fixed. I played 30 games and didn't win a race. 6 out of 8 people found this helpful. Ai too difficult & perfect. I can't wait to play this. I want more games like this, old school top down with tight controls and beautiful graphics. I hope for two things, rainy or stormy levels and car/track expansion packs. Upon playing, the controls are tight and by far the best ever on a top down racer. However, the AI is too perfect and I hope the devs can tone them down. 20 out of 28 people found this helpful. people of xbox! support this classic gameplay style. finnaly, somone who appreciates retro racing! i cant wait to re-live countless hours of my childhood! based on the video, this looks to be a quality experience from someone who doesn't want to just make a quick buck! several of my friends (26+) years of age will also be pre-ordering soon. to the developer(s) , all I can say is thank you for your effort and attention to detail! i would love to hear from the dev about thier inspiration for the game! -JR. 21 out of 42 people found this helpful. If you're looking to play some classic arcade games, or want to see upgraded versions of the classics, then look no further than the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) digital download service. In addition to a line of all-new games, XBLA has become famous for its multitude of classic arcade offerings, as well as a handful of classic console games that can be downloaded directly to your Xbox or Xbox 360. Note: This list does not include all-new titles, but instead just classic games and upgrades to the classics. In 1991, Mario’s biggest rival was more universally recognized and popular than him – and for good reason. Sonic The Hedgehog was a fast paced platform game with vibrant colorful graphics and catchy songs that featured a little blue hedgehog. His attitude was modeled after Bill Clinton, while his shoes were inspired by Michael Jackson (who eventually composed songs for the game series) and Santa Claus. Sonic The Hedgehog makes it to the list for it’s defying place in video game history. It was the biggest threat to Nintendo’s Mario as the definitive platform game because it transformed how exhilarating the genre could be by pushing its limits. Boss battles were stress inducing, death was at every turn and it was your job to save animals that were enslaved in robot bodies. Any millennial that loves the 1990s and video games will recognize the Sonic series. For some, Sonic is a nostalgic trip down memory lane, and if you haven't played it, you should give it a try. Players compete to fill their opponent's play-space with timed gems by building and shattering large same-color gems on their side. The competitive high intensity puzzle fighting game is best played against a friend (or foe), but it's still fun in its own right as a standalone single player game. Continue Reading Below. Upon its initial release back in 1993, Gunstar Heroes was an amazing two-player, side-scrolling, run-and-gun shooter way ahead of its time that’s a lot easier than Contra. Fast forward to 2018, and the game still lives up to the enjoyment and charm it began with, with various gaming magazines throughout the years listing it as one of the best video games of all time, never falling below a 90 percent score. Gunstar Heroes — which is suitable for both kids and adults — involves a mercenary family out to stop a shadow dictatorship called the Empire from reviving an ancient weapon. Players collect four different weapon types that can be combined together to create up to 14 different hybrid weapons (seeker bullets with a straight laser, flamethrower machine guns, etc.) allowing for multiple play-styles. Together, two players can toss enemies, perform sliding and jumping attacks, and numerous acrobatics as they battle their way through swarms of robot enemies. If you’ve never played this game, you absolutely need to. More » The classic run-and-gun action game that was difficult as hell is available on the Xbox Live Arcade. You and a friend (or if you’re crazy enough, play by yourself) can team up as two characters that are intentionally modeled after Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. Aliens invade earth and you’re set on a mission to take them out with various weapons, including machine guns, lasers and the ever popular spread gun. Though difficult and fast paced, Contra is one of the most addicting games out there (because it feels rewarding when you earn the wins you're fighting so hard for). Of course, if it’s too difficult and you want a chance to actually beat the game (and give yourself 30 lives) you can always put in the famous Konami Code: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A. Every gamer craved for a first person shooter and PC users got their first taste of what would become a definitive turning point in gaming history. What could be more fun than playing as an unnamed space marine on Mars fighting off a horde of grotesque monsters from hell? Enter Doom, the game that pioneered the idea of multi-player death matches, co-op missions in modern first person shooters and helped push legislation for a rating system for the kids. In 1993, Doom was the biggest cause for decreased productivity in IT companies because everyone with a PC was playing it. Doom became so popular that Bill Gates credited it for helping boost the sales of Microsoft Windows 95. Some couldn’t play it, because it was too violent and showed satanic imagery (in a bad light, no doubt), but now you can get your adult hands on it and experience the gory glory of a yesteryear heavyweight. Bomberman first came out in 1983, when things like “bomb” or “man” weren’t see as threatening as they are today. It features a deceptively cute looking robot guy in a white leotard who can produce an endless supply of bombs. His mission? To escape a labyrinth of bricks where everything from balloons to angels are out to kill him. In the stones that trap him are power ups to make him more dangerous, faster and capable of his own self-destruction. Bomberman Live is an updated version of the classic, allowing for a therapeutic (or heart breaking) first player mode or massive eight-player mayhem. It’s one of the best games on the list for when you have a party over. Continue Reading Below. Debatably one of the best cult-following games on the list is Radiant Silver Gun. It’s a vertical shooter released exclusively in Japan, but was later made available on Xbox Live Arcade. For those familiar with the popular Ikaruga – this was its predecessor. Radiant Silver Gun features a unique game style where you can use various combinations of seven weapons at a time to defeat enemies. The weapons gain in strength as you score points with them. Each enemy you face off has a weakness to one of these weapons, so it’s a game of constant intense strategy. It’s also incredibly hard. The plot draws influence from 2001: A Space Odyssey and tells of a story of biblical proportions with elements of hard-hitting nihilism to a hopeful future. The soundtrack accompanies the feeling of flying into oblivion. If James Cameron, Nietzsche and Mozart made a Sega video game, it would be Radiant Silver Gun. Everybody knows Pac-Man. Why is Pac-Man on the list? It’s almost a 40-year-old game. Well, Pac-Man Championship Edition breathes new life into the Pac-Man series – all while staying true to its original form. The Pac-Man Championship Edition is similar in gameplay with the original Pac-Man, but offers many different gameplay elements and modes. Pac-Man CE is a faster-paced game with each maze divided into two halves. It progressively changes as you score more points. Once you eat all the dots on one side, you gain a power up and continue to play until your time or lives run out. The longer you stay alive, the faster the game gets. Pac-Man Championship Edition is the best-remade game of an old classic on the list. Anyone who loves Pac-Man or doubts him will find enjoyment in this game. Continue Reading Below. Street Fighter II is the quintessential fighting game that defined the genre, having spawned multiple iterations throughout the years, and now, through the Xbox Live Arcade, you can play its original first release. Players who grew up with the familiarity of the hadoukens and upper cuts will get a blast from the past and relive those intense moments with friends as they relearn old tricks. Mortal Kombat almost made the list, but due to Street Fighter II’s marketing for all ages and record sales, we just had to give it the spot. The Xbox Live Arcade’s Street Fighter II still has that intense moment to moment gameplay, where blocking, jumping and attacking techniques can mean the difference between winning or losing. For anyone that wants to remember those glorious moments of yesteryear or is just picking it up for historical reference, Street Fighter II is the classic fighting game to get. More » Disclosure.
