A unique game in which an author of horror fiction must do battle with the creations of a book he is responsible for writing. What really makes this game amazing is its setting. The town, the mountains, every location is chock full of details and lore. it feels like a living breathing world. Add to the mix fantastic writing, excellent choices in music, great gameplay, and still amazing graphics and you've got yourself a. classic Xbox 360 title that every Xbox owner should experience. Gets better every playthrough.

A storytelling masterpiece ahead of it's audience.
Alan Wake delivers a stunning world that is very much alive, visually and socially. From lush landscapes to the piping town of Bright Falls, this psychological horror tells a mind twisting story of inner strength, perserverance, and love. A must have for survival horror fans looking for a good twist.

"One for the Books"
For a guy who hasn't played many survival horror games, surely enough, I got into this one & quick at that! I'm glad I saw it through to the very end, though it just left me wanting more. Luckily, I got the game free through Quantum Break, (great game as well) & it included both the DLC's, both just as good as the main campaign, though more challenging I would say. There's 6 chapters, which are quite lengthy. The gameplay feels smooth, it's not hard to pick up & play. There is some driving & some platforming, but it's simple enough to pass through with ease, (not the best steering however, just saying). Overall, it's just a really intriguing, intense & down right satisfying experience from start to finish & I would love to see a sequel, which could still be in the works. REMINDER: For the DLC, play "The Signal" first & "The Writer" second, (all after completion of the main story of course). Now all that's said & done, onto "American Nightmare".

A beautiful game as fluent as a book.
Alan Wake is a game with gameplay that is rarely expierenced today. The replay value alone is amazing each playtrough you discover something new. This game deserves 5/5 stars easily and is one of the best games I have ever played.

**MASTERPIECE**
From the creators of Max Payne and Quantum Break. Alan Wake is arguably their best work ever with great storytelling, atmosphere and gameplay. Plenty of little extras to keep you searching throughout the game as well. A very memorable experience and perhaps one of the best games ever! I hope Remedy makes a sequel or something similar in the near future. 5/5.

Deserves a Sequel.
Quite possibly the most underrated game from the last generation. Gamers should apologize for buying COD every year over games like this. I have played this game twice and it's even better the second time around. Remedy did a really great job, the little town of Bright Falls is living breathing, the environments don't look like it was copy and paste. Story is very involved and the action top notch. A modern classic.

I Am Awake.
Alan Wake is the perfect game that blends new story telling with a touch of some of our greatest writers in our lifetime. Great controls followed by an amazing atmosphere. HIGHLY reccomend if you are into tense-filled horror/thriller games.

This is a great thriller.
This is a must playthrough for fans of Stephen king movies/ and Silent hill games. The pace of the game is very intense, the plot is great, and the music fits the game perfectly. However, the chapters are very long and the saves were not always available forcing u to complete the episode before saving&quiting. I definitely enjoyed this sad and creepy game and hope for a true sequel.

Alan Wake is a must play cult classic. Needs a sequel.
This game needs a full fledged sequel!! Loved this game. Remedy please invest time into another one, i believe with the improvements that come to games with time and experience that a sequel will be a true hit. Alan Wake is what keeps me holding on to my Xbox. I honesty could go on and on about this game and the wish for another one, but i think i'll just hope you're listening. A MUST HAVE MUST PLAY GAME I BELIEVE EVERYONE SHOULD EXPERIENCE!!

Would you like an Alan Wake remaster as a preorder bonus for Remedy's Quantum Break?

A Microsoft survey is asking players if they're interested in playing a remastered version Alan Wake on Xbox One.
Images of the survey, which were first posted to Reddit, asked participants if they'd buy a remastered version of the game and recommend it to friends. Interestingly, it specifically asked if a free copy of a remastered version of Alan Wake would make them preorder Remedy Entertainment's upcoming game, Quantum Break.
Other options in the survey offered as potential preorder bonuses for Quantum Break include a $5 discount, an exclusive in-game outfit for your character, an additional 20 minutes playable chapter, and a chance to win a trip to Remedy's studios in Finland.
Last year, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said that Remedy is currently too busy working on Quantum Break, but that if Microsoft was ever to make an Alan Wake 2, Remedy would have to be the developer behind it.
The original Alan Wake, released in 2010, went on to sell more than 2 million copies. In addition to DLC, it received one follow-up in the download-only Alan Wake's American Nightmare, released in 2012. The two games have combined to sell more than 3 million copies.
Remedy's Quantum Break is due out on Xbox One in 2015. Prior to working on Alan Wake, the studio was best known for having created the Max Payne series.

More details about Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment's upcoming Xbox One-exclusive Quantum Break may be revealed at the 2013 VGX next month, Microsoft Studios corporate VP Phil Spencer has told Polygon.
After returning from a trip to Remedy's offices in Europe last week, Spencer said he feels "really good" about how Quantum Break is coming together. He said he is hopeful that more story and gameplay details on the game can be shared by the end of the year.
"Maybe VGX would be a good place for that," Spencer said. VGX is the new name for the Spike VGAs. This year's show will be held on December 7.
Quantum Break was officially announced at E3 2013 in June for a release in 2014. The game has remained largely under wraps since its announcement. According to its official description, Quantum Break "blurs the line between television and gameplay, integrating the two into one seamless, uniquely immersive experience."
Spencer also addressed Insomniac Games' upcoming Xbox-exclusive Sunset Overdrive, which was announced at E3 2013. A full section of the game is now playable, he said, noting that he is "feeling really good about the open world gameplay."
Alan Wake for Xbox One Being Discussed at Microsoft.
Update : A Microsoft spokesperson has provided IGN with the following statement:
"‘Alan Wake’ was one of the most engrossing and cinematic games of the Xbox 360 generation and it would be interesting to see what Remedy Entertainment would do if they decided to revisit the IP again. However, right now our focus is on working with them to deliver the best possible experience with ‘Quantum Break’ when it launches exclusively on Xbox One in 2016."
Original story follows.
Alan Wake developer Remedy and Microsoft are discussing the "possibility" of bringing the original Alan Wake to the Xbox One.
"I would love that to happen," said Remedy's chief creative officer, Sam Lake, in an interview with Polygon. "Nothing has happened yet, but we are discussing this possibility with Microsoft. I hope it happens, we'll see."
If it happens, Lake says that the port would likely include the post-release DLC as well.
It is "highly unlikely" that an Alan Wake port would show up on other current-gen consoles such as the PlayStation 4 or the Wii U, as Microsoft published the original title - however, Lake says that this doesn't rule out the possibility of a potential sequel coming to a console other than Xbox One.
IGN has reached out to Microsoft; we will update this post if we receive a response.
Yesterday, Remedy revealed that it was considering work on an Alan Wake sequel after it finished with Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break. Microsoft began gauging interest last month in a remastered version of Alan Wake, suggesting it could even be offered as a preorder bonus for Quantum Break.
Alan Wake first launched on Xbox 360 in May of 2010; in IGN's review, we praised the environmental design, visuals, and sound.

Microsoft Gauging Interest in Alan Wake Xbox One Remaster.
Microsoft may be looking to release a remastered version of Alan Wake for Xbox One.
According to a survey that first surfaced on Reddit, it appears the Xbox manufacturer is gauging interest in a remade version of Remedy Entertainment's narrative-driven action game for its latest home console.
Not only does the survey ask users to rate their interest in Alan Wake, it also lists Alan Wake Remastered for Xbox One as a possible pre-order incentive for Quantum Break, the next big Microsoft-published exclusive from Remedy.
Whether or not we'll ever see a remastered version of Alan Wake for Xbox One is hardly a given, but with Quantum Break's release reportedly pushed to 2016, one would think something like this would be a nice way to tide Remedy fans over.
Alan Wake first launched on Xbox 360 in May of 2010. You can read IGN's review of Remedy's episodic action game for more on why it's heralded to be one of Microsoft's best console exclusives.

Alan Wake DLC now available for free to Xbox One owners.
Both editions of Alan Wake DLC, The Signal and The Writer, are now available for all owners of the Xbox version of the game for free. So, if you own the original title and haven’t tried the expansions yet, head on over to the Xbox Store and download them now.
Microsoft already put Alan Wake on the Xbox One backwards compatibility list so if you own the Xbox 360 version, you can also play it on your Xbox One console without any additional purchases. However, if you don’t have the Xbox 360 version, the standalone game costs $19.99 in the Xbox One Store.

When Remedy launched The Signal in July 2010, it was available to owners of new copies of Alan Wake for free but it was priced at $20 for those who didn’t own the game. When The Writer was released in October 2010, it originally cost $6.99. Both of these episodes are additions to the original Alan Wake story.
Order new Xbox and receive Alan Wake for free.
Microsoft recently introduced a new bundle to promote its newly released hit title, Quantum Break, with the bundle featuring a Cirrus White Xbox One console and controller, Quantum Break, and the original Alan Wake. This bundle is now available for $299. Previously, Remedy ran a promotion which allowed people who pre-ordered Quantum Break to receive Alan Wake for free. 'Alan Wake' on Xbox One Sequel Possible; Survival Horror Game Could Be Back.
(REMEDY ENTERTAINMENT) A screenshot from 'Alan Wake.'
When the game "Alan Wake" was released in 2010 on the Xbox 360, it quickly became popular with those who had a taste for survival horror games.
As an indication of its popularity, "Alan Wake" rose to dominate the charts on Steam following its release. At that time, Remedy Entertainment, the game developer, acknowledged that it had already recovered the money spent on development and marketing of the game within days of its sale.
But surprisingly, Remedy Entertainment chose not to create a sequel. Instead Remedy opted to work on "Quantum Break," a game due for release on the Xbox One in 2016.
Remedy recently appeared to have a change of mind, announcing the "possibility" of bringing "Alan Wake" to Xbox One. There are indications that it could be offered as a pre-order incentive for those who want to buy "Quantum Break."
News about the possible port of "Alan Wake" to Xbox One came during an interview that Sam Lake, the creative Director at Remedy, gave to Polygon. He clarified though that no plans have been firmed up yet, saying they were just "discussing the possibility with Microsoft" and that he hoped it would happen. As for a remastered version being released on PlayStation 4, he said this was unlikely.
As for a sequel to "Alan Wake," Remedy showed a video showing a prototype for the project which it said it later abandoned. Despite this, the developer said the sequel could still happen, and that this would come to a broader range of consoles including the PS4.
The game is based on the life of the character Alan Wake who is not a gamer's typical hero. Wake is a laid-back author of best-selling thrillers who soon discovers that there are supernatural events happening in the town of Bright Falls, Washington, where his wife disappeared during a vacation.
