While I have enjoyed the action paced style of 4, 5, and 6, I truly enjoyed getting back into survival horror mode. Great DLC, but could be alot more. These dlc. packs have been great! They are fun, Intense and really flesh out the Baker family and Clancy, of all people. While i do love them I have two issues. First is the price. While the thrid pack has not come out, if its like the first two i would wait for a price drop. $30 dollars is quite alot and for about the same price you can get the resident evil orgins bundle, which i highly recommend. Second is length. This comes back to price and if i pay half the price of a 3aa game, I expect it to take me longer then 4 to 5 hours to complete. Luckily 21 and nightmare have some replay value with new mechanisms and difficulties. Sadly for daughters and bedroom, Once you beat it there is no reason to do it again. Puzzles, intense frightening encounters, feeling helpless, item management struggles and great looking creepy environments, but puts it all in first person. It has definitely taken influences from other FP horror games to nail the vibe but this a classic RE game through and through. The later 3rd of the game is a lot more action heavy but i felt it eased you in to the action instead of balls to wall from the start. People are complaining about the length(average 10 hrs). My first time took me around 15 on normal. When every other game is a 100+hr open world game, it's easy to see why people would feel that way. Multiple endings, end game unlockables and the killer madhouse difficulty, it's well worth the purchase to me. Survival Horror at it's best! The new 1st person perspective is welcomed; it helps to immerse you in the game and make the controls feel smoother. The atmosphere is by far the best of the RE series. Turn off the lights and turn up the surround sound! It's also the creepiest and most violent RE game ever made. If you haven't played other RE games don't let the number 7 thing deter you because playing previous installments is far from necessary to enjoy this game. This is a resident evil like no other,right off the bat the first person view sets a perfect eeriness that the beautiful graphics intensifies. If it wasnt for jack trying to kill me id spend hours just gazing at the detail in this game , that life like quality makes it super creepy. If you love: grotesque imagery with fantastic art design, horror games with tons of depth, a "quality over quantity" attitude, a way to fight back, and GOOD GAMES, buy this. As with any game, there are flaws, but the positives FAR outweigh the negatives. The whole demo and buildup to the game absolutely paid off. Definitely my personal favorite game this year so far, it really resonated with me. This and amnesia are the only two horror games I've ever enjoyed. Instead of trying to do what they had been doing for the past 3 games they decided to take a different route. This is what the series needs. This series requires something new. It requires this new take on the survival horror genre. Within the first 5 minutes of the game, it is already taking the kid gloves off. Showing no mercy to the player every step of the way. In one sense, It doesn't even feel like a resident evil game. In another it does. And that is why I feel nothing but hope for this game and the oncoming future of resident evil. I loved the classic resident evil feeling that Resident Evil 7 delivered, it was great from horror to its puzzles it was invigorating. Just one complaint is it was too short, it was barely 10 hours for me just 9 hours and 38 minutes and I played it on normal! In conclusion, RE7 is a must have. I wasn't very pleased with the direction that dead rising going in with the release of dead rising 4. I'm so glad the resident evil team actually made the next resident evil a very great game. I love the new perspective they put the player in. It really reminds me of PT. This game is definitley worth it. From a crazy swamp folk family, to new monsters, a very interesting and new addition to resident evil's story line, gorgeous graphics, amazing animations, and there's plenty more. There's only one problem, the game was too short. But with all the other stuff listed, it totally covers up how short it is. It's good because you are not as powerful and fast so you have to do something called using your brain. While it doesn't ever seem to feel like a true RE game to me, it is without a doubt a fleshed out and intense survival horror in the vein of Outlast with a healthy dose of RE for flavor. Puzzles that find just the right degree of difficulty while remaining satisfying and fun and a camera that lends a visceral and clostrophobic feel to the action. Unfortunately there are problems though, combat feels clunky and enemies are often rather fast causing what feels like many cheap deaths. Your character's run amounts to a brisk walk that leaves many of the enemies always directy behind you causing unavoidable hits everytime you turn around, Even the quick turn doesnt seem to remedy this.
