TV from Sky is finally on the Xbox One. Update: Microsoft has announced that the TV from Sky app is now available for the Xbox One, giving Sky Go Extra and Sky Multiscreen subscribers access to Sky's live and on-demand content. Even better, Xbox One owners will get a free two-month trial - just in time for a movie-filled Christmas. Sky customers will have over 1,000 films to choose from, as well as boxsets, live TV, and, for those with a sports subscription, access to loads of live sport. Xbox One owners in the UK can go and grab the app right now. Original story below. Right now, if you want to watch Sky TV on your Xbox One you can either stream some of the content through the Now TV app or switch completely to your Sky box (assuming you have one) – but that's soon to change. Microsoft has confirmed to us that a Sky TV app is coming to the Xbox One. It's been available on the PS4 since December 2014, but has been missing from the Xbox One lineup since the console's launch almost two years ago. "Sky TV is in development and is coming soon to Xbox One," said Harvey Eagle, Xbox UK Marketing Director, although he wouldn't commit to a release date when we asked. The Sky TV app proved very popular on the Xbox 360, so a lot of people were understandably miffed when it wasn't announced for the next-gen Microsoft console. The PS4 app requires a Sky Go Extra subscription, which costs an extra £5 on top of your existing Sky subscription, and gives you access to all the live channels, catch-up TV and the Sky Store, so we expect it will be the same deal on the Xbox One. Sky TV App Available Now For Xbox One in UK. Active subscribers can now watch content on Microsoft's console. Last updated by Tamoor Hussain on December 8, 2015 at 4:47AM. You are now subscribed. The Sky Go app is now available to download on Xbox One in the UK. Sky Go allows active subscribers to watch live sport such as Formula 1 and Premier League football, as well as on-demand movies and TV. The app, formerly known as Sky Player, was first released exclusively on Xbox 360. In the latest console generation, however, it launched first on Sony's PlayStation 4. The broadcaster refused to specify when the application would be available on Microsoft's console, but it has been given a surprise launch. To download the application you need to access the store, go to apps, and either search for Sky, or find "TV from Sky" in the new releases section. An account login will be required to access the content. In May 2014, Sky announced it would bring Now TV and Sky Go apps to the PlayStation 4. Former Sony Computer Entertainment UK boss Fergal Gara said "Now TV has been a great addition to the PlayStation 3 entertainment portfolio, so bringing it to the new PS4 is going to delight all users of the newest, most powerful member of the PlayStation family." He added: "Sky Go joining both PlayStation platforms further enhances our credentials as the ultimate gaming and entertainment package." Given the popularity of Sky in the UK, the addition of Sky Go strengthens the Xbox One as an entertainment device, providing more content variety alongside Netflix and Amazon's services, as well as Microsoft's own Xbox video offerings.

Thanks for posting back and very sorry to hear that you feel we didn't answer your query. You are right in saying that we have developed a Sky Go app for PS3 and it will be ready for launch by the end of 2014. I hope that this helps but if you need anything else please post back and let me know. At the moment our position on this matter is still as stated in the post by one of our Community Managers here. The kicker here is the with the new Universal Apps platform Microsoft have launched they could code once and get apps out for Xbox One, Windows Phone and Windows 8 Apps in one development. I think its failure on both Sky and Microsoft (the later needs to up their game on all these platforms, what better way than to get Sky on them for the UK market)! Eventually Sky will leak customers enough to take note. Once my shocking broadband (don't get me started on BT awell!) has been upgraded I'm ditching sky movies and using Amazon Prime (same issue with apps I know but at least they're working on it and I get free with my Prime account). Shame a company that used to lead on technical innovation is looking more and more like a second division player now. Re: Sky Go on Xbox One. Now the PS4 is dealt with I'm sure there is a chance they'll come round to us. The, now relatively early, existence of NowTV on the X1 points to the ground work having been done for us long-time Sky subscribers. And now with the added drive that, as of November, X1 sales in the UK and US have finally overtaken the PS4, so the need to get the Sky brand in prominent position on the Xbox, as it always was on the 360, may nudge the developers yet further to filling that hole in our chosen Sky viewing method.<br>Hope springs eternal. Xbox One to finally get a Sky TV app. UPDATE: Available today. UPDATE 8/12/15 13.20am Sky is finally available on Xbox One today (thanks, Xbox One UK). There doesn't seem to be a link on the Xbox Store, but you can find the app now via the console's own marketplace./p> The app gives access to live channels and on demand content, including box sets. You'll need a Sky Go Extra subscription (Ј5.99 a month) to access the service, or Sky Multiscreen customers get it for free. There's currently a two month free trial for Xbox owners who already have Sky TV - just sign up at sky.com/xbox. UPDATE 6/11/15 9.05am Xbox One will soon get a Sky TV app, Microsoft has said. UK Xbox marketing chief Harvey Eagle told Eurogamer the app is in development now for Xbox One and "coming soon". He couldn't commit to a release date. The Xbox 360's Sky TV app proved popular, so its omission from the Xbox One raised eyebrows. It left those who wished to watch Sky on their new console with the option of streaming with the Now TV app, or running their Sky box through their Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 has had a Sky TV app since December 2014. On PS4, the Sky TV app requires a Ј5 Sky Go Extra subscription (this is on top of your existing Sky subscription). For that you get access to live channels, catch-up telly and the Sky Store. The Sky TV app will no doubt work similarly on Xbox One. Meanwhile, Eagle reiterated that Cortana functionality (Microsoft's digital assistant) will be released to Xbox One preview members later in 2015, but won't be released to everyone else until 2016. This despite Cortana's availability on Windows 10 devices, and a Windows 10-flavoured update set to hit Xbox One very soon. Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. TV from Sky has just been launched for the Xbox One dashboard. if you're willing to pay another fiver a month. Sign up to our newsletter Newsletter. The lack of a Sky Go app for the Xbox One has been one of the Microsoft console's little oddities. that is until now. Sky has today launched TV from Sky to allow Xbox One owners, with a Sky account and a Sky Go Extra subscription, to watch live and on-demand content from its digital vaults. Viewers can choose from any of the entertainment channels as well as a treasure trove of TV box sets to catch up on. So if there's not enough Geordie Shore in your life right now, park Fallout 4 for the time being and catch up on who's befouling Greece this season… If you've got either the Movies or Sports packs on your existing Sky account then you can also access all those extra live channels too, with over 1,000 on-demand movies sitting waiting for you as well. There's a whole Christmas movie channel running for the festive period and, starting on December 11, the entire Star Wars saga is playing out across Sky Movies. The cost is strong with this one. One of the most frustrating things with this new TV from Sky app, aside from unconscionably dull name, is that it requires the upgraded Sky Go Extra service (or Sky Multiscreen) to let you access it on the console. Sky Go on the Xbox 360 was outstanding - often a far more robust and easier-on-the-eye setup than using the browser-based version - and it was accessible as one of your two Sky Go devices. TV from Sky though requires you to spend an additional £5 per month to add it as one of your four devices on Sky Go Extra. So even if you're already spending a fortune on the full Murdoch package, you now need to shell out another fiver to watch it on your Xbox One. No more multiscreen through the back door for you. Sky Go coming to Xbox One at last in form of new TV from Sky app. Microsoft has confirmed to Pocket-lint that Sky Go is finally coming to Xbox One. With access to Sky TV already available on PS4, PS3 and, more relevantly, Xbox 360, it is a feature that has been requested by a large swathe of Xbox One owners - specifically those with existing Sky Go Extra subscriptions who want to watch programming in another room. Like the other versions on console, rather than Sky Go, the app is likely to be called TV from Sky but it will still offer all the benefits of the broadcaster's live and on demand streaming service. Subscribers who pay for Sky Go Extra will be able to access a healthy list of channels to watch on their console in addition to Sky's long list of catch-up and on demand content. This includes many digital box sets of shows and movies. Sky's other streaming service, Now TV is already available on Xbox One, but the TV from Sky app will have a greater list of entertainment channels available. Sky Go Extra subscribers will also be able to register other devices (up to four in total) to be able to watch shows and films when on the move, for example. The iOS and Android applications also provide the ability to download content to view offline. All Sky subscribers can use Sky Go on mobile platforms, PCs or Macs as part of their regular package. But that is restricted to two registered devices and they cannot download programming or use their subscription with a games console without upgrading to Sky Go Extra for an additional £5 a month.
