Sky television is finally coming to Xbox One, which has been without a Sky app since it launched two years ago. The app will be available soon, according to Xbox UK marketing director Harvey Eagle.
"Sky TV is in development and is coming soon to Xbox One," Eagle told Techradar, which was unable to get him to commit to a release date or window. The app will allows Sky subscribers to view movies and TV on demand as well as watch live television via their Xbox One.
The Sky app has been available on Sony's PS4 since December 2014, but has been absent from Microsoft's latest console. The app was very popular on the Xbox 360, leaving many users annoyed that it didn't transfer to the Xbox One sooner.
On a PS4, the app requires a Sky Go Extra subscription at £5 a month on top of an existing Sky package, which allows the app to be used to watch live TV, the catch-up service and use the Sky Store. It is likely to be the same case with the Xbox One app when it is eventually released.

Update: Microsoft has announced that the TV from Sky app is now available for the Xbox One, giving Sky Go Extra and Sky Multiscreen subscribers access to Sky's live and on-demand content.
Even better, Xbox One owners will get a free two-month trial - just in time for a movie-filled Christmas.
Sky customers will have over 1,000 films to choose from, as well as boxsets, live TV, and, for those with a sports subscription, access to loads of live sport.

Right now, if you want to watch Sky TV on your Xbox One you can either stream some of the content through the Now TV app or switch completely to your Sky box (assuming you have one) – but that's soon to change.
Microsoft has confirmed to us that a Sky TV app is coming to the Xbox One. It's been available on the PS4 since December 2014, but has been missing from the Xbox One lineup since the console's launch almost two years ago.
"Sky TV is in development and is coming soon to Xbox One," said Harvey Eagle, Xbox UK Marketing Director, although he wouldn't commit to a release date when we asked.
The Sky TV app proved very popular on the Xbox 360, so a lot of people were understandably miffed when it wasn't announced for the next-gen Microsoft console.
The PS4 app requires a Sky Go Extra subscription, which costs an extra £5 on top of your existing Sky subscription, and gives you access to all the live channels, catch-up TV and the Sky Store, so we expect it will be the same deal on the Xbox One.

I have downloaded it remotely but not tried it yet.
Sky go was the best thing on the 360 and theres no way id pay to have both consoles on just to have sky run through my Xbox one even though it signs you out and says that the player isn't available it was great to have the ability to watch different shows at the same time.

From the TV Guide hub, you can select a channel to watch and view live TV.
You can use the Sky app to watch a variety of sports, films and entertainment channels from Sky, dependent on your subscription. Whilst watching live TV, press A to see Now and Next information for the current channel and press Y to see information about the programme that is currently on. Press B to close this information. Use the directional pad or the left thumbstick to see what is on the other channels, and then press A to change to that channel. You can also change channels by pressing the left bumper (LB) and right bumper (RB). For most channels, picture quality changes automatically, depending on the speed of your broadband connection. For some channels, you can still set your preferred picture quality by going to Settings and choosing one of the following options: Low (600Kbps) Medium (1.2Mbps) High (1.8Mbps)
Note For best results, you will need an effective broadband speed of 2 Mbps.

Catch Up has the latest sports shows and series form the Sky channels that you subscribe to.
TV Box Sets has older series and programmes, as well as content from other channels.
Sky Movies has films from the Sky Movies channels.
From the Search hub, you can search for content based on title.
Select something to watch, and then select Play .
Note If you set a PIN (personal identification number) on the Sky website, you might be prompted to enter the PIN when launching certain channels or on-demand content.
Change the Xbox 360 console on which you watch Sky TV.
To watch Sky on a different Xbox 360 console, you must first remove the old console from the list of registered devices on the Sky website, then select Sky from the TV & Films channel on the new console. Here's how:
In a web browser, go to xbox.skyplayer.com/help and sign in using your Sky ID. Select Settings . Select Manage Devices . Select Remove Device next to the Xbox 360 console that you want to remove. On your console, go to apps , select My Video Apps and then select Sky . Download the Sky application. This automatically associates the new console with your Sky Go account.
You can register up to two device on a single account. You can change one device per month. Only one of these devices can be an Xbox 360 console. For an additional charge, you can register up to four devices by purchasing the Sky Go Extra. However, you will still only be able to register one Xbox 360 console at a time. Your Sky Go account is associated with your physical Xbox 360 console, not with your Xbox Live profile. You watch Sky on your selected Xbox 360 console when you are signed in with any Xbox Live account.
Parental controls.
Sky Go uses its own parental control settings. You edit these on the Sky Go website.
If the Xbox 360 console safety setting is set to block access to Xbox Live, then the console prompts you for the Xbox console pass code as soon as you launch the Sky application.
Microsoft Wants ‘No Man’s Sky’ Xbox One Release.
No Man’s Sky , from developer Hello Games, has become an unlikely source of anticipation for gamers. The space exploration title wowed audiences at Spike VGX 2013, pushing a unique gaming experience with vibrant, original visuals. December’s gameplay trailer made would-be players even more excited, showing off a number of worlds and modes of transportation.
There is one snag for some gamers, however, as No Man’s Sky is set to launch as a PS4 console exclusive. Although Hello Games has stated a desire to bring the game to PC in the future, the chance of a Xbox One release looked pretty slim. Given Microsoft’s strict launch parity policy, which means that Xbox must have first or equal rights to a game’s release date or no Xbox release at all, No Man’s Sky looked destined to reach console players solely via PS4.
There may be a chance for No Man’s Sky to make it to Microsoft’s flagship console, however. Chris Charla, the director of [email protected], has recently said the he “would love to see” No Man’s Sky on the Xbox One. Charla was speaking on The Inner Circle podcast, and revealed that a workaround for the launch parity clause could be found if Hello Games wanted to discuss a Xbox One release.
The comments seem to contradict the previous Microsoft party line, particularly when Hello Games has made No Man’s Sky’s release schedule well-known for some time. Charla did explain a little further about how the space exploration title could make its way onto the Xbox One. He stated that [email protected] is willing to find a middle ground with developers who would find sticking to the launch parity policy difficult. “When we talk to developers, we try to be really transparent,” said Charla.
Charla’s comments continue the trend that sees Microsoft’s launch policy grow softer and softer. Although Phil Spencer has previously stated the policy has to stay in place to make Xbox One owners feel “first class,” Charla has recently made it clear that the publisher is not as strict as it first appears. Apparently, Microsoft is more than willing to reach a compromise when developers are struggling with either time or financial constraints. It appears that a situation with resource management will not cause a game to lose out on an eventual Xbox One release.
At the moment, No Man’s Sky is still a PS4 exclusive, and those looking to play the title at launch will have to own Sony’s console. As of yet, details about the game are still fairly thin on the ground. No Man’s Sky certainly looks impressive, and the game’s huge universe looks ripe to explore, but it remains to be seen just how well this translates into an impressive gameplay experience. There are sure to be more finite features revealed for this highly anticipated title as the game gets closer to launch.
No Man’s Sky is expected to release in 2015 for PS4, with a PC release to follow at a later date.
How to Stream Live TV from an Xbox One to a Windows PC, iPhone, or Android Phone.
Set up your Xbox One’s TV integration and you can do more than just watch TV on your Xbox: you can also stream that live TV from your Xbox to a Windows 10 PC, Windows phone, iPhone, iPad, or Android device over your home network.
There are two catches: First, this feature only works over your home network, so you can’t stream TV over the internet. Second, this only works with over-the-air TV, so you can’t stream live TV from a cable or satellite box. Windows 10’s Xbox-to-PC streaming initially offered this feature, but it was quickly removed. There are probably copyright and licensing concerns getting in the way.
How to Stream TV to a Windows 10 PC.
Use the Xbox app on Windows 10 to stream live TV to your PC, just like you’d use it to stream Xbox One games to your PC.
To do this, open the Xbox app on your Windows PC. Click the “Connect” icon near the bottom-left corner of the window and connect to your Xbox One if you aren’t already connected. Your PC should scan your local network for your Xbox One and quickly find it.
Click the “Stream” icon at the top of this pane to start streaming from your Xbox One. If you’re already watching TV on your Xbox One, the TV stream will immediately start playing on your computer. You can use the controls at the top of the window to control playback and switch between windows like you normally can with other Windows applications.
If your Xbox One isn’t already playing TV, you can use an Xbox One controller connected to your PC to launch the OneGuide app, which will allow you to watch TV. You can switch between channels and control playback with that Xbox One controller, just as you can on a TV.
How to Stream TV to an iPhone, iPad, or Android Phone.
You can also stream TV to a mobile device–iPhone, iPad, Android phone, or even Windows Phone–using the Xbox One SmartGlass app. Install the app from Apple’s App Store, Google Play, or the Windows Phone store depending on the device you’re using.
Open the Xbox One SmartGlass app on your device and sign in with your Microsoft account. After you do, your device will detect the Xbox One console on your current network. Select your Xbox One and connect to it.
To watch TV, just tap the “TV” tile in the SmartGlass app. You can then tap “Watch TV” and watch TV on your device, switching between channels, pausing, rewinding, and fast forwarding live TV.
If you have your Xbox One on, it will continue playing live TV on your TV while also streaming it to your phone, so you can watch the same TV stream in multiple places.
You can also use the Xbox One SmartGlass app as a remote control. Open the OneGuide section in the app and you can see what’s playing and switch between channels on your TV.
