SKYRIM Special Edition is free if you already own the original game and DLC on Steam. Skyrim Special Edition is free on PC if you own the original game and DLC. It's especially good news for PC owners, who have been told that they will receive the updated game for free if they've got the original Skyrim and its DLC on Steam. The same is true for owners of the Legendary Edition. So if you already own the Steam version of Skyrim and the Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn expansions, then you won't have to fork out any additional cash when the game re-launches in October. The news of a PC freebie hasn't gone down too well with one or two console users, however, who complained to Bethesda VP of marketing Pete Hines on Twitter. It already exists on PC, with high res textures. Pete Hines, Bethesda. Hines was quick to point out that PC owners can already get all the benefits of the Special Edition by installing graphical and texture mods at no extra cost. "We're making a game available for Xbox one and PS4," he said. "It already exists on PC, with high res textures." Hines was then asked why Xbox 360 and PS3 owners would have to pay for Skyrim again on Xbox One and PS4. "Because it's for a new platform," he replied. "Just like any other remaster for new platforms." Skyrim Special Edition has improved visuals, mods and DLC. Skyrim Special Edition's premium price tag was also criticised, especially given that Dishonored: Definitive Edition launched at a budget price on Xbox One and PS4. "So we are done debating why it isn't free and moving on to the price?" Hines continued. "Price is the price. Every game is different," he added. Even though Xbox One and PS4 users will have to pay for the game again, Skyrim Special Edition will be packed with features previously only available on PC. Exclusive new games for PS4. After playing 1,000+ hours on the original (not to mention the years I've put into all of the elder scrolls) owning the CE, I really didn't think another deep dive into it the same game for $60 would be worth it. I was very wrong, the updated look, mods, faster load times are fantastic! And the mods really help with replaying the game, some mods add some small items where other's add new playable race's (I have a blast playing as a dremora) some add new new quests (a few have new voice overs) one even adds a whole new island! Let's just sum it up this IS NOT the Skyrim from 5 year's ago, it's better. One other thing to add there are updates for the game! making the game even more stable and fixing bugs! 565 out of 586 people found this helpful. The Definitive Masterpiece. Let me start this with an admission, and get the negatives right out of the way: This is an up-scaled "HD-er" port of the already fantastic game we've probably all played the heck out of on PC and last-gen consoles. That's the negative, if you were one of those peope somehow expecting this to be something else. HOWEVER: Consider that the entire Skyrim experience is here, all DLC included. Now, also consider the massive library of Mods available to play with, with a simple interface for browsing, sorting, managing, and installing your Mods. Let's face it, the TRUE "definitive" Skyrim experience is naturally on PC, but I think it is quite safe to say that the Xbox One is Skyrim's true console home. There are few games I can wholeheartedly recommend to just about anyone, and Skyrim is the very first title on that list. There is something here to satisfy, entertain, and/or challenge gamers of virtually every taste! Be an adventurer! Take an arrow to the knee in Skyrim today! 703 out of 735 people found this helpful. No Words Can Fully Describe. I bought this when it came out on the xbox 360 and practically fell in love. Then, 5 years later it finally came to xbox one. I can honestly say this is the best that i have ever played. Massive open world, near thousands of quests, tons more of people, creatures, weapons, and spells. Played multiple times I continue to find new and interesting things. The game is beautiful by itself, but mods can tweak it in any way you'd like. 10/10, 100%, this is the best RPG you'll ever play. Skyrim is amazing, but not perfect. Sometimes a bug or a glitch comes along, but if you're willing to look past a few flailing limbs and stuck weapons, you'll find everything that you're looking for. 303 out of 316 people found this helpful. Best Open World RPG of all time! This is one of the greatest games I've ever played. I've never been so immersed in a world like this before. From the story, to the detailed world, to the awesome soundtrack, and the exploration is so fun and addictive. With it being remastered, I can't wait to play this game all over again! 143 out of 149 people found this helpful. Game Of The Year. Again! After over 2,000 hours and 5 years of "gaming goodness" with the Xbox 360 version of Skyrim, I really had no interest in a remastered version of a game that I already thought was near perfect. Boy. was I wrong! After viewing many comparison videos of Skyrim Special Edition vs the original, I bought the new version on release day, and after playing over a week with almost 42 hours in, I'm in gaming heaven once again! Skyrim was already a pretty masterpiece with a huge open, living world to explore, yet magically, the games developer has done the impossible, and made masterpiece even better! The game also runs smoother, and loading times are much faster. The original game also tended to lockup/crash once in awhile after the save file became over inflated, yet on this new version, I have had no lockups/crashes. If your already a fan of one of the greatest games ever made, or a gamer that wants to explore a huge wonderful, quest filled, unlimited virtual world, SKYRIM IS GOD! 496 out of 528 people found this helpful. What more is there to say? It's Skyrim, everyone loves Skyrim, to Oblivion with those who don't. Skyrim Special Edition is a must buy for anyone who enjoyed Skyrim on the last-gen consoles and have not had the chance to play it on PC with graphical mods or mods in general. It has some flaws, of course, but with a game this large with so many features it is bound to have some, despite this it is a fantastic game and is definitely worth a buy as it provides many, many, hours of entertainment (Especially when you take into consideration the mods that can possibly add hundreds of more hours onto the content available.) For those who are having issues with mods (Frame drops and what-not) I advise you to do two things, the first one being delete some of the excess mods which do nothing but clutter your load order, or re-order your load order (There are lots of posts on Reddit on how to do this.) The only thing I find to be bad about this game is how it ruined my social life for a few months. 143 out of 149 people found this helpful. This package includes the 3 add-ons that were, I think, about $20 each. Plus the much improved graphics, faster loading times, etc. that come with next gen compatibility. It's more than fair to say that Skyrim, even before it was on the One, is at least in the top 5 of all time. If you've never bought this game, for whatever reason, save your pennies. It is impossible to be disappointed by this game. Unless you have an irrational fear of pixelated dragons. 5 stars. 136 out of 143 people found this helpful. Great game, Great mod storage. What made me happy that mods were coming to fallout 4 but i quickly ran out of mod storage BUT when i found out that specia edition was getting 5GB odf mod storage i was very happy for this game, bethesda thank you for making great games for everyone to play. 275 out of 294 people found this helpful. Best single player experience ever. Ok this game right here was my second life on the 360. I didn't have any online connection so I went to get this game due to all it's award I've been seeing and hearing. man, this was the best purchase on a game I've ever put money on. in fact: this was the first game I purchased all DLC on a main game for! Anyways, the gameplay is very diverse. You can shield&sword, flamethrower&sword, bow&arrow, etc. Graphics; it is not a remaster so don't expect a 2015+AAA title look. It's set in a Lord of the rings (imo) type of setting, but the game looks good TO ME still. Audio; they hit the point with this one. the music fits perfectly in this world. Gives me some magical/Vikings vibe. Sorry for this long essay but I just want to say it was worth my time, money, life. 🖒🖒🖒 366 out of 393 people found this helpful. The Best Game of all Time. Skyrim is a RPG with over 100 quests, over 40 followers, and 7 factions you can join, not counting the great main storyline and 3 amazing DLCs. In one DLC, you can choose between 2 factions, so really 9 factions total. You also already have the 3 DLCs with, only for $59.99! Which is 10 times better because in Skyrim, before SSE, it was over $100. This game was first made in November 2011, already with amazing graphics, now they updated it even more to make it look good. I wouldn't be surprised if the Elder Scroll Game will come out 2025. I have ben playing since its release. You can decide things like what class you want to be, a warrior, mage, or an assassin. You can go even more in depth by what you want, one handed or two handed? You can choose what race you want to be, what they look like and their stats. For example, a khagit is better at sneaking than the Orc. You can fast travel., travel on a carrige, horseback, or foot. Don't even get me started on the Mods. The mods have 5GB!! 439 out of 476 people found this helpful. Translate to English. Язык Microsoft Store: United States - English. Вас интересует язык Microsoft Store: Россия - Русский? Digital Foundry goes in-depth on the visual features added to the upcoming Special Edition. By Thomas Morgan Published 14/06/2016. Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One. An enhanced remaster of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this October. This new Special Edition is the first we've seen of this series on either console to date - it's a native 1920x1080 production, and based on trailer footage so far, it's also seemingly set to run at 30fps. We're promised quite a bit more though, and indeed the game borrows features from the more modern iteration of its Creation Engine, adding the rendering techniques for volumetric god rays and water shaders seen more recently in Fallout 4. It's great news for PC crowd as well, and those who own all DLC of the original (or bought the Legendary Edition) receive this as a free update. Based on our tests, there's a visible difference between this remaster and the vanilla 2011 release, with the landscape improved by new assets; plants, mushrooms, stones and extra trees are more liberally dotted around the initial Riverwood village. A new depth of field effect is brought in too. As plucked from Fallout 4's settings menu, this allows backgrounds to dynamically fall in and out of focus depending on a player's line of sight. Another element we noticed in matching our PC footage with this reveal trailer is that textures are identical. Bethesda's press materials offer up seven high quality BMP shots of the game - tellingly archived in a folder labeled 'Xbox One.' We've matched each of these with the PC game at maximum settings, and there's little to no difference in the quality of the texture work (barring one mountain-side near Riverwood). Assuming these are Xbox One screengrabs, it's pleasing to at least see texture filtering matches PC's top 16x anisotropic filtering setting, but the ground detail underfoot is precisely as it was before. The more striking change is in this Special Edition's lighting. A glowing, sun-kissed appearance is in effect across its reveal trailer, notably in an overview of Solitude castle. It replaces the distinctive, colder hue of the original, and each comparison shot differs wildly from the tone of the vanilla release on PC. Actual geometry is untouched, and draw distances for objects and grass are identical to the PC's top setting in this wide overview. However, it's an undoubtedly warmer, hazier take on the world, with a post-process bloom effect also helping to fill the space. The remastered Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim: Special Edition compared to the original game, running maxed on PC. In terms of image quality, all these shots come in at 1920x1080, as backed by FXAA. Shader effects are reworked for water and snow-capped surfaces too, and it's here we see a more substantive change than the regular textures shown so far. Icy surfaces are inflected by a sparkle - a reflective quality missing from the original release's flatter normal maps. It's also in Skyrim's frostier areas that the addition of volumetric fog is most obvious, used to great effect here by creating a sense of rising condensation in the air. The trailer also boasts new screen-space reflections for this special edition, but this isn't a massive visual boost per se. In fact, the current PC version already has reflections on floors and walls at the same quality, with light-emitting spells mirrored on most surfaces. The only change is a subtle lens flare effect that plays across light points, something that's missing outright from the original game. Of course, a similar effect can be achieved on PC already - alongside many of the Special Edition enhancements we've mentioned- with ENB mods widely available online. For this very reason, the option for user-made mods in Skyrim: Special Edition is a massive win on PS4 and Xbox One. Similar to its console debut on Fallout 4, engine tweaks could bridge the gap to a more radical overhaul its fans might have wanted from a remaster. The visual flourishes put in place by Bethesda are welcome, and slot neatly into the original experience without going overboard. However, fans looking for drastic changes now have an option, and with its console release in October, the floodgates are very much open. The Elder Scrolls 5: Special Edition boosts resolutions on console to a full 1080p, and adds in new details (such as the foliage on right) across the landscape. Geometry appears unchanged, though the mountains at the top of this shot show a shift in design. As well as new flora, the remaster receives a new depth of field post-process effect, as shown to the top left. Snow shaders are improved too, while a volumetric fog effect adds condensation to Skyrim's icy peaks. Bloom is enhanced, and shots revealed so far point to a warmer colour tone for this Skyrim remaster overall. A final shot to highlight the higher density of foliage across the ground. Will Bethesda Bring Skyrim to Xbox One and PS4? Despite releasing in 2011, this insanely popular action RPG could find new life on more powerful consoles. It was inevitable that a handful of publishers would release Xbox 360 and PS3 games on the newest consoles. What we didn’t expect was the high level of quality across the board. Both Metro Redux and Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition outpace their predecessors, while Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 for Xbox One and PS4 looks so incredible it demands everyone’s attention, even if they played it last year. This trend should continue into 2015, with the popular Saints Row 4: Re-Elected + Gat out of Hell slated to arrive on January 20th. Indeed, what is old is new again. The influx of quality reboots resulted in an ongoing discussion around the office concerning The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and a potential re-release on Microsoft and Sony’s machines. On the one hand, Skyrim is one of the best-selling games in history, with over 20 million copies sold as of 2013. Despite releasing in 2011, it is by far one of the most popular games on the Internet next to Valve’s Team Fortress 2, the Portal games and Dota 2. People still create memes, YouTube videos and PC mods for it. They even celebrate its birthday, November 11th by the way. Bringing Skyrim to Xbox One and PS4 is a smart decision that goes beyond the potential millions of dollars it would make. PlayStation 3 users complained of game-breaking lag that was non-existent on Xbox 360, which deprived an untold number of players the chance to enjoy a mostly stress free experience. In addition, as good-looking as Skyrim is on consoles, the PC version is far superior. Granted, there are mods that go even further than Bethesda’s technical wizardry, but it’s safe to say the best Skyrim is found on Steam. If all you know is the console Skyrim, the PC edition is quite an eye opener. Personally, we’d love this game to receive a facelift (visuals, smoother frame rate) that puts it on par with or exceeds the base PC product. Not only that, but it would give us the chance to have the complete Skyrim on one disc, including downloadable content Dragonborn (island of Solstheim, new towns and dungeons) , Hearthfire (buy land and build your own home) and Dawnguard (vampires running amok); there’s a Legendary Edition for Xbox 360 and PS3 sans graphical enhancements. Considering how easy it is to live stream on PS4, we have to imagine The Elder Scrolls 5 would instantly become one of the most watched games for the machine. Conversely, with Skyrim in more than 20 million homes, there’s a chance Bethesda saturated the market and may take an arrow to the knee when it comes to sales. Keep in mind that a similar level of success did not dissuade Rockstar from doing GTA 5; it sold over 34 million copies of the Xbox 360 and PS3 version alone. Oh boy oh boy. Little did I know that this game was legitimately going to change my life. One evening I sat down to play some video games and this was my game of choice. How FREAKIN fortunate of me to pick this game. I loaded this baby up and within MINUTES there was a DRAGON flying around my screen. This bad boy was lighting the whole town on fire. THE ADRENALINE WAS GOING ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. Fast forward to 3 months later, I have currently logged 180 hours in this game, gained 30 lbs and my girlfriend broke up with me. HOWEVER, I had dragon scale armor and I was the bad boy in every town (in a good way). MAN I WOULD HAVE STRAPPED MYSELF DOWN IF I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO GET THIS REAL. This game was worth every freakin thing that happened to me because I maxed out so many skill charts. 10/10 would do again. Changed my life. FOR THE BETTER ;) I would recommend this to a friend. Please try again later. I originally thought I wasn't going to purchase this because not much had been done, or so I thought. The updates that were made on the game are well worth rebuying it.
