Scuf’s Infinity1 Xbox One gamepad is like a lighter, cheaper Elite Controller. Above: The Scuf Infinity1 gamepad. The Xbox One Elite Controller is still the best gamepad I’ve ever used, but I can see why some people may choose Scuf’s Infinity1 instead. Scuf, which also works with Microsoft on the Elite, provides similar functionality in its Infinity1 customizable controllers. You can swap out thumbsticks and use back paddles to activate face buttons. But it is also much lighter and also much more likely to survive use as your everyday input on Xbox One and/or PC. The Scuf Infinity1 custom controller is available now starting at $120. You can also get it in a PS4 variation. For Xbox One or PC players, however, you may wonder if this is worth it compared to some of the other options on the market, and I think Scuf makes its case in a few key ways. What you’ll like. Easy to customize, but difficult to lose pieces. You can compare the Infinity1 in two directions. The more affordable, standard Xbox One controller is better than ever at $60. Microsoft has made constant updates to dial in the right feel for the analog sticks and bumpers, and it has also added crucial features like Bluetooth. But every Xbox One controller is still essentially the same. On the other side of the price spectrum, you have the $150 Xbox One Elite Controller. That is a phenomenal gamepad that uses expensive polymers and metals to give you a premium feel. It also comes with multiple analog sticks, D-pads, and removable back paddles so you can customize it depending on your play style. Compared to those alternatives, the Infinity1 fits right in the middle and does some things better than both. If you play a lot of shooters, the optional paddles and a taller stick can make a big difference on a console. Even playing something like Assassin’s Creed: Origins on the PC can feel a lot more comfortable if you have a stick that fits the size of your hands. The Infinity1 can do that. Scuf sells extra sticks, but unlike the Elite’s magnet system, you can lock these into place so they don’t inadvertently fall off. This is big for me because it means I can leave the Infinity1 laying around, and I don’t have to worry that I’m going to come back to find pieces missing. So the Infinity1 gives me a lot of freedom to control my games how I want, but it is also sturdy enough to stand up to daily use. Comfortable grip and lightweight design. Scuf has also built a pro controller that is still light. I love the Elite’s heft, but I also tend not to game with a pad for a half-dozen hours at a time. For those of you who do get into those kinds of lengthy gaming sessions, the Infinity1 may help because it has significantly less mass. At the same time, the gamepad uses nice external materials to ensure you can maintain a comfortable grip. You can also get a textured grip add-on for the Infinity1 from Scuf for $7, and that adds even more friction to the device. I used it both ways, and while I was fine with the standard plastic, the Scuf grip did give me more stability. What you won’t like. Feels cheaper than an Xbox One Elite Controller. The Infinity1’s lightweight design has a cost. The gamepad has a cheap feel. It is especially plasticy, and the materials have a toy-like quality to them. Nothing is rattling around or falling apart, but Scuf’s controller doesn’t have the premium, high-end feel of the Elite. Even after a couple of years, I’m still stunned by the build quality whenever I take my Elite out of its case. I’ve never felt that way about the Infinity1. The paddle placement doesn’t work for me. Everyone’s hands are different, but I really don’t like how Scuf has arranged the rear paddles. They are all in a row pointing straight down from the battery-compartment door in two groups of two. I have no trouble reaching the outside paddles, but I’ve struggled enough with the inside paddles that I’ve given up on using them. Conclusion. Scuf’s gamepads are popular among pros who use controllers for their competitions, and I can see why. Even if I think the Elite is better, the Infinity1 will survive on the road a lot better. It also reduces fatigue due to its lightweight design. If you are considering a new Xbox One controller, you should probably get the latest updated Xbox One controller with Bluetooh for $60. But if you are serious about gaming and competing, and you think other people might use this gamepad or you’re going to throw it into a travel bag, then I can recommend the Scuf Infinity1 even over the Elite. Scuf provided a sample unit for the purpose of this review. The Team Scuf Infinity 1 is available now starting at $120. Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1. Which is the best pro gamepad for you? When it comes to professional-grade Xbox One controllers, you’ve really only got two options if you want the best of the best. There’s the Microsoft own Xbox One Elite Controller, which is a fully customisable pad with metal trimmings. But then there’s also the SCUF Infinity 1 from a well-established third-party manufacturer. But it’s another customisable pad that’s strongly worth your consideration. We’ve put the two pads through their paces to make sure you’re spending your money wisely. Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1: Price. The biggest hurdle for upgrading to an enhanced gamepad will be the price. If you’re still classing yourself as a “casual gamer”, a controller that’s over the £100 mark might seem like a massive waste of money. But the more hardcore and professional gamers among us will think that’s the price you have to pay in order to get the type of controller that serves all your gaming needs. The Xbox One Elite Controller retails for £129.99 RRP, but it’s proving rather difficult to get your hands on, with most retailers currently sold out or with limited stock. The SCUF Infinity 1 pricing is a little more complicated. Prices start at £95.99 for the basic black and white versions, but once you start personalising and customising the Infinity 1, prices can reach a lofty £202.50 if you go for all the bells and whistles. Those available without personalisation are priced at a maximum of £127.99, though. Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1: Design. But if you’re willing to spend some serious dosh, the design of your professional controller will really swing your decision. Whether it’s the triggers, rear paddles, button mapping or the analogue sticks that are really important to you, there’s a ton of difference between the SCUF and Microsoft pads. Customisation options aside, there are some basic differences in the overall design. The Elite pad is kitted out with metal on the triggers, bumpers, D-pad and the shafts of the analogue sticks. The rest is finished with a matte soft-touch plastic and a monochrome colour scheme, making for a far more sophisticated and mature look. The SCUF Infinity 1 is also finished with a soft-touch matte plastic, which comes in a variety of colours. The analogue sticks are a glossy plastic, as is the D-Pad and triggers/bumpers. In the build-your-own tool on the SCUF website, you can make your Infinity 1 as garish or as understated as you like – or even pick an eSports team’s colours. Sign up for the newsletter. Get news, competitions and special offers direct to your inbox. Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1: Triggers. When it comes to games like FPS titles at a competitive level, the speed of your triggers for aiming and getting that kill in really matter. The Xbox One Elite Controller features new Hair Lock Triggers, which allow you to restrict the travel of both triggers independently. You do this by flipping the shiny green switches on the back of the controller. It’s quick and easy to do, and makes sure you have immediate control over your trigger travel – even on a per-game or mid-game basis. However, you’ll need to do this for every single game if you want to go for the full personalisation option. The Xbox One Elite Controller is certainly easier to adjust on the fly and feels more responsive. Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1: Paddles. Both the Xbox One Elite Controller and the SCUF Infinity 1 feature four rear paddles for providing alternative button options at the touch of a finger (rather than a thumb). The SCUF Infinity 1’s paddles all hang vertically down the back of the gamepad from a boxy panel. They’re stiff, responsive, but sometimes feel a little out of reach. They’re not permanent though, as you can remove them from the rear of the controller, meaning they’re not going to dangle there if you don’t want them to. The SCUF Pad comes with the paddles automatically mapped to the face buttons, but in order to remap them you’ll need to have added the Electro-Magnetic Remapping feature during your build and then use the Mag Key to switch inputs. It’s a little complicated to do, as you need to remap each button individually using the magnets and button pressing. The Xbox One Elite Controller paddles on the other hand are all removable. Everything attaches using magnets and it’s just a case of flicking the paddles out of their rear sockets – which you’ll be tempted to fiddle with at first like a child with a loose tooth. They’re much better positioned for your fingers, so you don’t have to adjust the position of your hands. And it’s a lot easier to remap the Elite’s paddles. It’s done via the Xbox Accessories app available for Windows 10 and Xbox One and can be done on a per-game basis. I particularly like using them as alternatives for the L3 and R3 inputs. Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1: Grip. If you’ve ever felt like the Xbox One controller lacks that gripability, you’ll be pleased that both the Infinity 1 and the Elite come with enhanced grips. The Xbox One Elite Controller’s monochrome colour scheme is broken up by grey, faceted matte rubber grips on each handle. They mould into your hands and make sure that, regardless of your sweaty palm situation, the controller stays put. The standard option on the SCUF Infinity 1 features soft rubber grips, but when you build your SCUF pad, you have the option to add FPS grips to the controller. For the extra £11.99, the FPS Grips also add Adjustable Hair Triggers and the Trigger Stop Mechanism, along with the circular SCUF logo detailing that adds extra grip. It’s a bit sticky with a sweaty palm, though, but still miles better than the standard Xbox One controller. The Elite just has that extra comfort. Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1: Analogue Sticks. One of the key differences between the two pro-grade controllers is the analogue sticks, both in their material construction and the options available. The Elite Controller comes with three different analogue stick options in the box, with the spares stored within the controller’s clamshell case. You get a set of standard concave sticks, a set of longer versions that improve reach and finally, a set of regular length domed analogue sticks. All of the Elite’s analogue sticks feature metal shafts, with hard matte plastic pads. The rings around the analogue sticks themselves are reinforced with metal for enhanced durability. The analogue sticks on the Elite Controller are held in by strong magnets, meaning swapping out the sticks is just a case of pulling out the current options and snapping on a different set. You can opt for different choices for each analogue stick too, if you don’t want matching. It means you won’t be able to swap out analogue sticks on the fly from the off, though. There is the option to purchase additional options from the SCUF store. For £10.99 you get a set of three analogue sticks – either three domed or three concave (regular, medium or long). That means if you want to upgrade both of your sticks you’re going to have to buy two packs to get matching. And they’re a bit annoying to swap out. You’ll need to use the strange hubcap-style gadget, which slots over the analogue stick and twists to remove the outer ring. You can then pull off the analogue stick, replace it with a new one and reattach the ring. The SCUF Infinity 1’s analogue stick and rings are also made out of a hard plastic rather than the metal on the Elite. SCUF explains that they’re actually made of a “high-grade self-lubricating material” that “provides a pro-grade finish offering improved smoothness, life and feel of thumbsticks”, but I’m not convinced. Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1: D-Pad. Both the Xbox One Elite controller and the SCUF Infinity 1 are available with a pair of D-pad options. As with the analogue sticks, the Elite Controller comes with both options included in the box. There’s a metal version of the normal cross-shaped D-pad, or the rather more flashy metal faceted option that’s great for fighting games. These also swap out using magnetic attachments for easy switching. Again, the SCUF pad requires you to upgrade the D-pad when building. The option akin to the faceted Elite D-pad is called the Control Ring in SCUF land, and allows you to have a more lucid selection process. It’s an extra £6.99 on top of the base £95.99 price, but it’s well worth it to get this matte plastic ring D-pad. That’s because when you don’t want to use it, you can simply prise it off and reveal a regular glossy plastic D-pad underneath. Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1: Customisation. We’ve outlined most of this before, but it’s important to remember that the Xbox One Elite Controller comes with all the various customisation options in the box along with a clamshell case to keep it all in. For your £129.99 investment you get the three sets of analogue sticks, two D-Pads and four paddles. There’s no worries about having to buy additional kit (unless you lose something, because at present there are no spares available to buy). But to get the same amount of customisation options for the SCUF, you’re going to need to personalise your controller with all the top-notch features and buy some additional accessories. The base price for the SCUF Infinity 1 is £95.99. But to get the customisation on the triggers, the Control Ring D-Pad, paddle remapping, FPS Grip and your choice of a single set of analogue sticks bumps that price up to £142.53. You’ve then potentially got the choice to buy additional analogue stick options, which will cost you either £10.99 for one set of three, or £21.98 to get three matching sets. That’s a whopping £164.51 (and you’ve still not got a carry case). Xbox One Elite Controller vs SCUF Infinity 1: Button Mapping. And then there’s the issue of button mapping. The SCUF Infinity 1 only allows you to remap the paddles, which must be enabled in the build your controller menu before you buy – it’s known as Electro Magnetic Remapping. This will then allow you to customise your paddle configurations using the SCUF Mag Key included with the EMR option. It’s a fiddly process and one I’ve not quite managed to master as yet. However, that means you’ll need to adjust the paddle configurations for each game manually, as there’s no way to store profiles on the controller or your Xbox One itself. The app gives you the option of remapping every button on the controller, using game specific presets, adjust various sensitivities including analogue stick respond and triggers and more. You can also save two profiles to the controller itself, switching between them using the toggle you can see above. Loading a new one only takes a few seconds too, if you’re playing multiple titles in one session and want to have the full customisation experience. The Xbox One Elite Controller just has the edge on the SCUF. It features more customisation options out of the box for a lower price, is easier to customise, and has full button remapping. Plus those metal details and the monochrome colour scheme make it feel far more premium. 6 результат(a/ов) для xbox+one+scuf+controller. Options to build your own custom controller Matte finish Excellent grip. Bells and whistles can become expensive Doesn’t come with a case Not as well designed as the Xbox One Elite Controller. Key Features. Review Price: £180.00. What is the SCUF Infinity 1? With the success of the Xbox One Elite Controller, you might be wondering whether there are any other professional gamepads on the market. SCUF Infinity 1 – Design. Those looking to get a professional-grade controller experience will be pleased to learn that the process of buying the SCUF infinity 1 begins with you being guided through the company’s customisation process. Ultimately, it’s up to you how you want your Infinity 1 to look and function, so SCUF presents you with all of the options before the pad even hits your lap. Is this a good thing? Personally, I quite like that with the Xbox One Elite you’re given the option to change elements on the fly, rather than having them built in from the outset. But you are at least getting the personal touch here. The Elite Controller is available only in black, but with the Infinity 1 you’re spoilt for choice. You can choose from a tonne of colour combinations, skins and even some combos created by eSports professionals themselves, if you want to mimic the big boys. You can even pick the colour of your analogue sticks and their surrounding rings (although the options are more limited here), LED logo light and face buttons. However, not all the customisations are purely cosmetic. Through the buying process you can opt to add in extra features that will make the SCUF Infinity 1 suitable for professional or super-keen gamers. The basic Infinity 1 costs £95.99 in black, or £119.99 if you want a block colour. So far, so okay. However, it’s when you start adding the often necessary extras that the price starts to inflate. Let’s start with the paddles. As a free upgrade, the Infinity 1 has four rear paddles that are automatically mapped to the four face buttons – B,Y,X,A from right to left. They hang down from a shelf on the top of the battery cover, so that they’re within reach of your forefinger and middle finger. But because they don’t curve towards the grips, I found that they were a little fiddly to reach comfortably – even with my man-sized hands. Sign up for the newsletter. Get news, competitions and special offers direct to your inbox. Add in Electro Magnetic Remapping (£15.99), and you can change the configuration of the paddles, assigning them to whatever buttons you see fit. However, rather than resorting to a handy app such as Xbox Accessories to do this, you’ll need to use the SCUF Mag Key instead. You’ll need to first turn on your Xbox One and the controller, then place the Mag Key between the paddles on the rear of the Infinity 1. It will snap into place with the help of the magnet – and then the fun really begins. You then have to press and hold down the paddle you want to remap, while also pressing and holding the corresponding command on the other side. Only a limited number of commands can be mapped to the paddles, though – A,B,X,Y, left D-Pad, right D-pad, left thumbstick down, right thumbstick down – so if you’re thinking of anything that isn’t supported, you’re in trouble. The FPS grip option comprises two parts. There’s the shiny rubber grips incorporating the SCUF logo, which improve the controller’s ability to stay firmly in your palms, no matter how sweaty your hands get. And second, there’s the Trigger Stop Mechanisms, which allow you to stop your trigger from depressing fully. This pack will be useful for those who prefer to play FPS titles rather than racers or RPGs. In order to adjust the trigger mechanism though, you’ll need to insert the included 0.9mm Hex SCUF key – basically a super-skinny Allen key – into the hole in the grip and turn it clockwise to decrease the movement, or anti-clockwise to increase it. Like the Mag Key, however, this is another little tool that you’ll need to keep handy if you want to regularly adjust the travel of your triggers. At the point of building your Infinity 1 controller, you’ll have a choice over which thumbsticks you’d like, plus the colour of them too. They’re available in long, medium and regular domed; long, medium and regular concave; or the Xbox One defaults. You could opt for a two different sticks if you so wish – but note that you’re looking at a cost of £4.99 per analogue stick change. The Xbox One defaults are free. Each thumbstick is made from a high-grade “self-lubricating material”. This may sound a little strange, but it makes for analogue sticks that feel rubbery and grippy. While theu don’t feel quite as premium as the Xbox One Elite’s joysticks, they’re certainly responsive. This is a decision that I’d recommend you think about carefully before you buy, since there’s no option to add any further down the line. Instead, you’ll need to buy the packs of Precision Thumbsticks from the SCUF website, which retail for £10.99 a pack. These come with three analogue sticks, either one of each of the domed or concave options. For matching options, you’ll have to invest in two packs, bringing the cost to £21.98. This is yet another example where you’re paying to get the same customisation options as the Xbox One Elite Controller. In order to swap out the analogue sticks you’ll need a lock, which is essentially a small bucket-shaped tool that fits over the sticks and slots into two holes either side of the stick itself. You turn it clockwise to unlock the ring, and then just pull out the analogue stick with the surrounding ring. For those who love fighting games it’s the perfect addition, since it allows you to move around the D-pad with your thumb far more quickly as you don’t have to constantly reposition it. I particularly like the fact that you can just clip on the Control Ring when it’s needed, and otherwise just have the more authentic D-pad option available beneath. Aside from the added cost of all the optional upgrades – which in effect just bring the SCUF Infinity on a par with the Xbox One Elite Controller – there’s another issue. Unlike Microsoft’s pad, the SCUF Infinity 1 isn’t supplied with any storage option in which to keep all the various keys and locks. Instead SCUF offers a rather awesome zip-shut clamshell case via its website – at a cost of £10.99, of course – which moulds over the various lumps and bumps of the controller. It also features a small section in which you can store your accessories. However, in my experience, they failed to stay in place and were always falling out. Without the customisation options, you’re looking at a standard Xbox One controller design, with all the triggers, bumpers, knobs and buttons you’d usually expect; the only difference is the logo. A useful 3.5mm headphone jack sits at the base, along with the proprietary port found on the original Xbox One controller, so all headset bases are covered. SCUF Infinity 1 – Performance. When the SCUF Infinity 1 is good, it’s really good. It’s rubbery grips and matte finish mould into your hands, with the raised logos of the FPS grips ensuring that it stays put. And once you have it customised to fit your requirements then you set to go. For example, if you’ll be playing FPS titles or racing games for the majority of the time then there won’t really be much of a need to fiddle around with the remapping of the paddles. But if you do want to swap around the remapping, trigger stops and analogue sticks then you’ll need to seek out the Mag Key, Lock and the Hex SCUF key in order to make adjustments. The remapping, in particular, is a laborious process. And note that if you lose or misplace any of the above tools, then you won’t be able to configure your Infinity 1. Should I buy the SCUF Infinity 1? If you’re considering buying a professional-grade controller for the Xbox One, there are two choices open to you. The Xbox One Elite Controller or the SCUF Infinity 1. Although the SCUF pad is great to use, it just isn’t as straightforward or as complete a package as the Xbox One Elite Controller. Microsoft’s pad comes with three sets of analogue stick options, easy remapping for all buttons – not just the paddles, hair trigger locks, four paddles, and a sleek monochrome and metal design. In addition, you also get a clamshell carry case with an accessories section in which to keep it all in. All for £119.99. Just buying the SCUF Infinity 1 is a complicated process, especially if you want to get the same features as the Xbox One Elite. Here’s a quick overview of all the customisation options available, both when building the pad and through the separate store: Basic SCUF Infinity 1 – From £95.99 Electro Magnetic Remapping – £15.99 FPS Grips with Adjustable Hair Triggers – £11.99 FPS Adjustable Trigger Pro Grips plus SCUF grip – £16.99 One custom analogue stick – £4.99 Two custom analogue sticks – £9.98 Coloured SCUF rings – £1.59 Control Ring D-pad – £6.99 Custom colour scheme – between £7.99 and £15.99 Custom LED controller light – £7.99 SCUF Infinity 1 case – £10.99 Pack of three analogue sticks – £10.99. For an Xbox One Elite equivalent – without the colour customisations of the SCUF pad – you’ll need to spend around £208. That’s nearly £100 more than the Xbox One Elite Controller pad – and I, for one, don’t believe you’re getting as premium a product for that extra dosh. The SCUF Infinity 1 is a solid professional controller, but the fiddly customisation options and escalating price means that it pales in comparison to the Xbox One Elite Controller. xboxone. 2 669 пользователей находятся здесь. SCUF Gaming ‘SCUF One’ Xbox One Controller Review. You’ve just opened and set up your shiny new Xbox One. You’ve been waiting for this moment ever since the next gen announcement and now that you have effectively blown off your rent and dropped an entire paycheck on this beautiful black box, you can hardly contain yourself. It is gorgeous, and perfect in every way. Right? You might think so, but the fact of the matter is that as long as you are still trying to lay the smack down on your friends with the stock controller included with the Xbox One, you’ll never actually reach perfection. Why? Because SCUF, that’s why. There is a very, very good reason why more than 85% of professional gamers are using SCUF controllers. The reason? Because, while a regular stock controller can control the game, that’s about all it can do. The folks over at SCUF have make innovation the name of their game and have added an incredible amount of exclusive features that you will not find on any other controller on the market, especially a stock one. Let’s check out the many features that the SCUF One has to offer: SCUF One – Features. SCUF Sidewinder Paddles – Probably the most well-known (and well-loved) SCUF feature are their absolutely genius Sidewinder Paddles. Essentially, these paddles do a hell of a job compensating for the increased depth of the controller handles on the Xbox One controller. The 3-dimensional paddles enable gamers with all hand sizes to be able to reach and use the paddles that much easier. Angled at an ergonomic 30 degrees, the Sidewinders operate with a pull-across/push-in motion. Once you’ve played with these custom paddles, you’ll wonder how you got by without them. SCUF Grip – Forget everything you think you know about controller grip. Aftermarket annoyances that pose as grip have a tendency to peel, harbor bacteria, and generally not stand up to the overall wear and tear of everyday use. SCUF has finally kicked this dilemma to the curb with their built-in, military-grade molded grip that will never wear, tear, or peel across the entire life of the controller. Finally! SCUF Thumbsticks – SCUF offers 6 different thumbstick options to their customers, in three different lengths, that are both concave and domed. Talk about options! Newly designed, these interchangeable thumbsticks are manufactured with top of the line materials to provide a superior grip and feel as opposed to a stock controller. Internal Trigger Stops – So, if none of the other features have sold you on the SCUF One, allow me to go ahead and give you the reason you need to invest. SCUF has developed and included a fully-patented internal hair trigger and trigger stop mechanism that is a huge performance boon to those who play games like CoD, and other FPS. The trigger is controlled by using a 0.9mm SCUF key that essentially lets the user fully tune the triggers. This renders gunfire and aiming a one-tap process that you really have to use to believe. Of course, the trigger adjustment only works with some games (mostly FPS) and is easily removable for those games that require full trigger movement. While the changing process looks like it might be a little tricky the first time, SCUF Gaming has even included a step-by-step setup guide for the trigger so that the process should be virtually fool-proof. Aesthetics. All amazing features aside, I want my controller to look good. I was really pleased to find the plethora of color and customization options that are available for the SCUF One. My review model is the orange/black Fury model (Gotta keep with the Geek Insider colors, guys!), but really, the possibilities are endless. Check out their model page and have a look at all the color options SCUF has to offer. As a girl who plays games, I always find that just about every controller (or headset, or gaming mouse, etc..) I pick up is slightly bulkier than I would like. I blame my small hands and not the manufacturer, however, I was very happy that the folks at SCUF have put an obvious amount of effort into making their controllers comfortable for everyone. I had no issues whatsoever getting used to the SCUF One, and the paddles were to die for. My review model sported the concave thumbsticks, which I found to be great for preventing slippage. Overall, I was very happy with the level of comfort and grip that the SCUF One provided. The Bottom Line. My reviews are typically very open and honest about any potential flaw that I might find while conducting the reviewing process. That said, I am hard pressed to find anything ‘wrong’ with the SCUF One. It is clearly a well-thought-out piece of gaming hardware that acknowledges every aspect of gaming. It is completely MLG legal and functioned perfectly for me. SCUF has provided everything you’ll need to start playing right out of the box, even the batteries. The ONLY ‘issue’ (that isn’t really even an issue) that I found that could potentially be frustrating for a user would be the changing around of the hair/stop trigger. The process is rather invasive and, while SCUF has made every possible effort with their step-by-step-guide, I could see is causing a little confusion for someone who has no experience dealing with tools/controller components. However, this is the price to be paid for such features and I do not consider the changing process to be a flaw, simply a possible hassle. Triple the cost & more features but workmanship worse. Xbox Elite controller owner since day one release. First controller failed just after 3 months. Left bumper plastic clip broke leaving the bumper free to swing like a door. Upper right paddle button stopped working. After a spending several hours on the phone with MS Support they finally swapped the controller even though it had past its 90 day warranty. That's right the same warranty they provide for a $20 headset is the same warranty for a $150 Wireless controller. (Unless you bought the console controller bundle then you get the full year.) The replacement controller failed after 4 months with right stick drifting issues and the left bumper clip breaking again. Purchased 3rd controller from local store with 2 yr extended warranty. This one is now being replaced due to right stick drifting issues, bumper failure and paddle buttons not clicking. I would like to write about what I like about the controller but MS only gives me 1000 characters, I'm out of room. GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. 28 out of 31 people found this helpful. the only bad thing is the grips fell apart and did not hold up. 7 out of 7 people found this helpful. Wears out fast. The RB button broke within 6 months, left thumbstick will act up and move your aim in shooting games when not touching it after about 6 months, the rubber handgrips are also falling off. If it had a year long warrenty it'd be way better. HUUUGE waste of money in the long run, SAD. 22 out of 26 people found this helpful. Busted bumper. Controller feels solidly made. Fit and finish seem acceptable. But, within 30 days the right bumper broke, as has been extensively documented in these reviews and those elsewhere. In my case, the failure was within the 90 day warranty period. As stated elsewhere, this warranty is criminally short for a product of this expense. Purchase at your own risk. 27 out of 35 people found this helpful. I have had my elete controler for less than 1 year. I love everything about the controller (when it is working!) I knew I had a problem when the controller wouldn't stay synced to my Xbox unless I had the micro usb cable plugged into it, essentially making it a wired controler. I have watched countless YouTube videos on how to fix the issue. New batteries, power cycled my Xbox, updated controler. You name it is tried it. Microsoft suggested I purchase a new controler. My original controler that came with my Xbox still works perfectly! I spent 150$ on this beast. I'd say worth every penny if it worked. I don't make a ton of money and I'm just disappointed that my elete controler didn't even last one year when the original I have had twice as long still works just fine. I'm more dissatisfied with the customer service I received from Microsoft. I buy Microsoft products because I feel they are the best, but Microsoft makes it hard to be a loyal customer with poor customer service. Great controler (when it works) buy at your own risk. Once you purchase this controler if it malfunctions your stuck with an expencive paper weight. 8 out of 9 people found this helpful. Works great till it breaks. I agree with a lot of the reviews here. This controller is great in every aspect of gaming. Everything feels fresh and tactile. The weight was also a big thing that made this controller great for me. Unfortunately like others I only got to use my controller for about 6 months until the Left Bumper just fell off. I take great care of things and would never do something like throw them. So when this happened I was extremely disappointed. If you're looking for a great 6 month controller, this is it. (Model 1698 if anyone was wondering). 4 out of 5 people found this helpful. DO NOT WATSE YOUR MONEY. I have gone through two of these controllers. On my first one, the thumb sticks broke and for the second one the back rubber gripping fell off and the same thumbstick issue. I really don't see how they value this controller at 150 dollars. When issues come up on the controller Microsoft policy on a premium controller is absolutely crap. If you want one buy it but pray that you will not have any issues. 11 out of 14 people found this helpful. waste of a 150 bucks.too bad i cannt rate the thing 0. Back grips is coming off.right bumper broke.Must games i have tried to use the hair trigger switch thing.Doesnt work to fire the guns in the game .I wouldnt tell anyone to buy a elite controller. They better off just mailing microsoft the cash and keep using a normal controller. 20 out of 28 people found this helpful. Piece of trash. Keep loosing the buttons beacause they are on there with magnetics so whenever you flick up or anything like that the button flys of the taller buttons are impossible to use and the peddles on the back are way to sensitive wish I could rate a 0 star. 20 out of 29 people found this helpful. Quality is just the same as original controller. It's just a regular controller with more weight and more mappable buttons. Bumper broke and 90 day warrenty conveniently ended before. sweet. 14 out of 19 people found this helpful. Translate to English. Язык Microsoft Store: United States - English. Review: SCUF Infinity1 – The best Xbox One controller for FPS games. The ultimate Xbox One controller for FPS games. Despite a majority of gamers perfectly fine with the default Xbox One controller that comes with their system, some players out there crave for a controller that is more comfortable, fully customizable, or something that provides them with an extra edge on their competition. While there is an abundance of third-party controllers around for the Xbox One, its difficult to find the controller that is fully-customizable as the SCUF Inifnity1. Today we are reviewing the SCUF Inifnity1, a professional controller that is compatible with PC and Xbox One and offers a plethora of ways to customize it to your liking. If you decide to purchase the Infinity1 here is everything you are guaranteed to receive. SCUF Infinity1 Controller Paddle Control System with four Infinity1 paddles An Electro Magnetic Remapping Key Two Thumbsticks 2 AA batteries A product guide. In addition to everything included in the standard version of the controller, several additional add-ons you can purchase are the following: Two Pro Grip Handles Two First-Person Shooter Trigger Stops Two Adjustable HairTrigger Infinity1 Rings Y Lock Removable Control Disc 0.9mm Hex Key Grip Removal Tool 24 different skins including 3.5mm Audio Jack Electro Magnetic Remapping (EMR) Adjustable Hair Trigger + Trigger Stop Mechanism Remove rumbles for improving aim due to lack of vibration, and a lighter controller overall No Grip, SCUF Grip Default, concave, domed, regular, medium, or long left and right SCUF Precision thumbsticks in choice of black, white, red, blue, or green SCUF Rings in choice of nine different colors Control disc Controller button colors in standard or you can choose thirteen other color options Controller LED. From left to right: Xbox One Elite Controller, SCUF Infinity1. Visually, the SCUF Infinity looks like a Xbox One controller. The first thing I quickly noticed when I opened up the box was the SCUF logo replaced the Xbox logo on the top center of the controller, as well as on top of the thumbsticks. The control disc located where the d-pad can be easily removed. Looking at the back of the controller, the battery cover is slightly larger than the standard battery pack, which is because the four AXE paddles are attached underneath the cover. The outer two paddles are thicker in width, while the inner paddles are slimmer in size. The Infinity1 also offers a 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom left, while the Micro-USB charging port can be found right above the battery cover. When comparing the Infinity1 with the Xbox One Elite controller, my favorite part about the Infinity1 is the placement of the back paddles. I previously purchased an Xbox One Elite, and the biggest complaint that I had with Microsoft’s controller was because the back paddles were located in an awkward place where the hand grips are located. If you want to modify the paddles or the thumbsticks, not a problem the Infinity1’s thumbsticks and paddles are easily detachable. The thumbsticks can be removed by using the ring that comes with the controller, simply unlock it by turning the ring counter-clockwise, then when you’re ready to lock it, turn it clockwise. The back paddles can be easily removed by taking off the battery cover and applying minimal pressure to pop them in and off as you wish. Those who purchased the Electro Magnetic Remapping feature, you will have the ability to remap your paddles. By default from the order of left to right the default macros are A, X, Y and B. However, if you want to remap the buttons, only turn on your Xbox One and controller on and place the EMR Mag Key on the back of the controller with the magnet symbol towards the controller. When trying to modify the remapping for a particular paddle just press and hold the paddle, you want to remap then press and hold the button on the controller you wish to map to the selected paddle; once you do that release the function and then the paddle. Alongside adjusting the paddles and the thumbsticks, the controller also offers the opportunity to modify the grips. By using the clamp removal tool, players will have the ability to quickly detach the current grips with another grip they would rather use. Regarding using it during gameplay, the Infinity1’s performance is spectacular. Every function on the controller is precise, and once you find which buttons you want to assign your paddles to, you are guaranteed an advantage against the competition. Currently, the SCUF Infinity1’s price starts at $119.95, the standard form comes with the controller as well as the four paddles, however, depending on how you customize it, the price will increase. Though it can be a bit of an expensive investment, if you are looking just to purchase the standard controller it is a cheaper option to get compared to the Xbox One Elite controller, which is priced at $149.99. However, if you are looking to buy this controller with the intention of reviewing it specifically for shooters, then I would highly suggest purchasing the EMR for your paddles. While it will up the cost to $155, you will have the liberty to map the buttons however you’d like. When you factor in that the paddles on the Infinity1 do not take up much backspace like the paddles on the Elite the five extra dollars doesn’t seem like a bad idea. Overall, I was very pleased with the Infinity1, and I much prefer it over the Xbox One Elite controller. The endless ways to modify the controller, the opportunity to adjust the paddles anyway you’d like, as well as a plethora of colors to choose from, the SCUF Infinity is a fantastic controller that I believe every Xbox One owner who is looking to buy a controller for FPS games should highly consider purchasing. Scuf One Xbox One Controller Review. Scuf Gaming is making its 2014 return and is set on providing next-gen console gamers with an attractive alternative to the current line-up of first-party input devices. The console transition period is always a fascinating one. Both gamers and game developers alike look on as hardware and software manufacturers lift the curtain on their (hopefully) innovative new products while formulating their game plan for the next decade or so. Thus far, both Microsoft and Sony have put forth a noble effort in the design of their upgraded Xbox and PlayStation controllers, respectively. But with ever-shifting demographics in today’s console audience, I’m left wondering why one specific crowd in particular isn’t on the forefront of their minds. I’m talking about the vastly growing sub-section of shooter fans that undoubtedly makes up one of the largest — if not the largest — slices of the console gaming pie. Microsoft, for example, touts an impressive 40 plus innovations to the Xbox One controller over what the Xbox 360’s controller had to offer. That’s a lot of improvements, big or small. But I would argue that Microsoft’s new pad still lacks one essential element that I think is critical to the bigger-than-ever audience of competitive-minded first-person shooter or third-person shooter gamers: Options . As next-gen as the new controller is, it sure doesn’t offer me any new ways to play my favorite shooters past the aging set up of two thumb sticks, two triggers, two bumpers, and face buttons. Enter the Scuf One, a competition-level Xbox One controller from Scuf Gaming that’s as competitive as any competitive gamer would hope and dream for. But what it does best is offer the next-gen Xbox gamer options and new ways to play. That goes for anyone serious about shooters. In this review, I’d like to go over what those options are, and to whom this alternative product might appeal. Grasping my Scuf One for the first time, I was immediately drawn to its comfortable grip and sticky texture. My particular model came equipped with a mixture of the company’s trademark Scuf Grip and Pro Grip handles. According to their website, Scuf Grip is a 5-stage, hand-crafted, military-grade finish, similar to the grip found on weapon handles. It’s certainly an improvement over the default plastic finish that can be felt where the tips of my ring and pinky finger naturally rest. But I felt the strongest sense of support in the Pro Grip handles that make up the outer sides on the back portion of the controller, precisely where the center of my palms naturally lie. With it’s sticky finish and shaped design, I could feel controller tightly locked in place. I couldn’t recall having to make any grip adjustments during my game sessions with it, which I believe is largely attributed to its grip. Luckily, Scuf’s Pro Grips can be purchased and installed separately, which I believe makes up one of the more meaningful options that the SCUF ONE has to offer. On the face of the controller, I found Scuf’s thumb sticks offered a similar level of grip that I’ve yet to feel on any first-party input device. Sticks are offered in three different lengths; regular, medium, or long, and have the option of being concave or dome-shaped. Generally, a longer stick offers more precision, which is why you’ll find a lot of pros opting for a longer, dome-shaped right thumb stick for more control over aiming. It took me a few games to get used to my longer sticks, and even required some alterations to my in-game sensitivity, but the results were well worth it. I found an increased consciousness in aiming for the head more consistently. Regardless of length, I feel that the biggest benefit of Scuf’s sticks are the grip, as it simply offers a greater sense of control and noticeably decreases slippage. Negating the need to take your thumb off the aiming stick to perform simple tasks like jumping and ducking are the Scuf One’s sidewinder paddles. With more depth over the Xbox 360 controller, the Xbox One controller requires a little bit of tweaking to the previous-generation paddle design. The new paddles are wider, angled, and tilted just the right amount to fit precisely where your middle fingers rest naturally. I found it in no way uncomfortable or unnatural, which means you don’t really have to think about it at all. Just one little squeeze of your finger from its natural resting position and you’re performing 180 jump shots like nobody’s business. Another staple feature of the Scuf controller design is its hair trigger and stop mechanisms. In essence, they simply allow you to not only tighten the distance to the point that the Xbox One’s triggers performs their function, but it also shortens the distance the triggers can be depressed past the point that their function is performed. It essentially allows you to shave a few milliseconds off recovery time by making movements much smaller, which to competitive or experienced gamers can mean life or death. In the case of the Scuf One, they’re now fully removable and internally integrated, meaning you’ll need to crack open the controller’s side panels — a simple but sometimes scary process process — to get access to and tweak the mechanisms. It’s an extra step that you need to take over the previous generation design in order to make adjustments, but it gives the controller a cleaner external look. Note that if you’re like me and tend to hop from shooter to shooter, you’ll likely want to skip this feature as it primarily works best with Call of Duty. If Call of Duty is your jam and is the one shooter you play day in and day out, then you’ll definitely want to consider adding these mechanisms. In addition to these different levels of performance-enhancing options, there are also literally hundreds of ways to customize the controller with different color schemes, logos, and lights. My particular model came in a matte white finish, which sure is a pleasure to look at, but it made it easier to notice the settled black particles that tend get scratched off the black thumb sticks after heavy use. A quick brush or wipe down is sometimes needed after long play sessions, so bare that in mind if aesthetic maintenance bothers you. Lastly, a quick word on build quality: Scuf’s design is built off of Microsoft’s first-party controller, meaning you won’t get any of that cheap, plastic-feeling commonly associated with third-party products. This is the Xbox One controller as you know it, but improved. It also comes with a sturdy connector cable built from a stiff rope material, so you won’t have too much trouble in the way of damage. Overall, the build quality, including the exterior paddles, are held to a high and satisfactory standard. I find you get the best results from the Scuf One about 40 minutes into a game session, after you’ve played a couple of matches and are really beginning to feel warmed up. At that point, the margin for human error, with regards to inputting commands and slippage, becomes minimal. Normally, any mistakes at that point can likely be attributed slippery thumb sticks, sticky buttons, or a weakened or cramped grip — things that are naturally out of your control. That’s where the Scuf One really picks up slack. When you don’t have to worry about losing grip, slipping, or trying to press multiple buttons at once, you can divert 100% of your focus to taking care of business. Best of all, the SCUF ONE simply takes no issue with you demanding more from your controller. When that adrenaline boost kicks in and you’re feeling on point, this guy keeps you embedded in the experience when other controllers might pull you out of your zone. Personally, I like to describe it as a controller that just gets out of your way and allows you to express your movements and actions without resistance. But who exactly is the Scuf One for, on a consumer level? For competition-level gamers it’s practically a requirement, but a casual gamer that picks up one to two games a year, spends little on gaming peripherals, and maybe only “Prestiges” or “Regenerates” once or twice in a game like Call of Duty or Titanfall, may not exactly find the appeal, especially with its $100+ premium asking price. But if you’re one of those guys or gals that invests hours into your favorite shooter games on a daily basis and doesn’t mind allocating a hefty portion of their gaming budget towards gaming gear, chances are you will benefit from what Scuf Gaming has to offer and won’t find anything else like it on the market. In addition, I’m also noticing a surfacing trend among both current and upcoming shooters: Enhanced mobility. I’m talking about games like Titanfall, Destiny, and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare that let you (or will let you) perform maneuvers like double-jumps, slides, dashes, etc. With movement becoming more and more complex in first- or third-person video games and the constant need to make use of the jump button, I find that the traditional controller layout just simply doesn’t cut it anymore. Again, with re-mappable paddles, Scuf gives you the options and breathing room to play with, allowing you to take full advantage of mechanics that are already built into the game and are there for you to make use of without having to resort to alternative grip styles. To address the elephant in the room, you’re probably asking, ‘But isn’t that cheating?’ The Scuf One certainly gives you the edge over others playing on standard controllers, but there’s a few things we need to consider. First and foremost, it’s in my humble opinion that the standard controller design is clearly dated and a lot of what a device like the Scuf One offers should have come standard with the factory Xbox One controller. Considering the direction we’re currently headed in with shooters and the constant strive to build better and innovative next-gen hardware, I’m surprised options like these aren’t the norm. When you’re on a massive kill streak, the last thing you want to have to worry about is about slippage or about having your reaction time hindered by a limited and aging controller design. Secondly, PC gamers have had the pleasure of customizing their input devices for decades with countless mouse and keyboard variations and innovations. Year after year, a newer and more efficient mouse designs with better accuracy and more buttons appear on the market, and it’s the hard truth that, generally and idealistically speaking, those who spend more money on their gaming peripherals will get more out of them. I don’t think console gaming should be any different. Lastly, there is a clear line that separates legitimate play and cheating, and I don’t think Scuf crosses it. There are no “rapid-fire mods” or mechanisms that perform actions for you. As I said earlier, I believe Scuf’s primary purpose it to simply eliminate any resistance to what you are naturally capable of. So, game on! You can build your own Scuf One controller by visiting the company’s official website. Prices start at $109.95 USD. PlayStation 4 users will want to keep an eye out for the upcoming SCUF 4PS controller which you can learn more about right here. This product review was based on a Scuf One model provided to us by Scuf Gaming at our request. Scuf controllers are shit. They don’t work for half the games on xbox. Their awkward to hold and just weightless cheap plastic. You overpay and they’re customer service is a joke. Save yourself the heartache and purchase the xbox one wireless elite controller. Yes its pricey too but made with much better quality a satisfying weight and wont restrict you when you are trying to enjoy it on any game. I have never been so dissatisfied with a purchase then when I bought a Scuf Controller. Xbox Elite controller is the best for the money.
