Native 4K resolution at 60fps support added for the launch of the new Xbox One X console. Player action photos have been updated to include the players in their new uniforms. Custom created shoes are now a much higher resolution when viewed on players in-game. Authenticity improvements to Clippers, Spurs, and Magic 2017-18 uniforms. Authenticity improvements have been made to the ’07-’08 New Orleans Hornets uniforms. Fixed an issue on XB1 where GameDVR was not working for some users. Improvements to the audio ‘pops’ reported by Switch users. Fixed an issue on the Switch where armpit hair was showing as white/grey on players that have it. The Neighborhood.
Corrected an issue where Bryan stopped texting the user regarding the picking up of earned endorsement checks. Users of the Switch version of the game can now join other friends in the Neighborhood by using the Friends app on your in-game telephone. Improvements to the T-Shirt Voting interface as well as the T-Shirt Purchasing interface. Fixed a bug where some users weren’t able to complete the Gatorade endorsement after winning 5 games on the Playground. Fixed an issue where thumbnails would fail to appear if the user moves between the T-Shirt Store and T-Shirt Voting pages too quickly. Fixed an issue where the 2K Cam would fail to flip in Playground games when previously playing a King of the Court game. Stability and performance improvements to the Dew NBA 3X event. Addressed an issue where the timer wouldn’t always count down as expected during the Dew NBA 3X event. Lineup improvements during Ruffles 4-Pointer Challenge games to ensure that similar positions guard each other where possible. Fix a case where some users were unable to join a friend’s Playground due to their name being flagged as inappropriate.
A number of improvements to the Pro-Am Walk-On/Team experience. The correct VC earnings and balance will now be shown at the end of Pro-Am games. Teams can now wear alternate jerseys in Pro-Am Team when they reach the Elite status. Users who foul out in Pro-Am games are now able to spectate the remainder of the game. Fixed an issue where users who had their commentary language set to Spanish were experiencing problems playing in Pro-Am games. The end of game stats overlay will now appear with the correct stats for users who foul out of a Pro-Am Team game. The 2K Card will now show the correct Pro-Am Walk-On stats.
Fixed an issue where players were being removed from online MyTEAM games for committing too many fouls when they had only committed a small handful. Users can now apply any brand of shoes to historic players. Setting up your lineups is now easier as player positions are now shown in the Edit Lineup interface. The Total Points tally at the end of a MyTEAM game will now always display the correct amount. Shoe boosts and added badges will no longer be incorrectly applied while in Pack and Playoffs.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE.
Fixed an issue that caused premiere players to wait until the end of free agency before signing a near-minimum level contract. Tuned the quality of draft classes at the default level to bring down some of the higher end prospects being generated. Ongoing work is taking place to improve this further and better balance the classes as a whole. A number of improvements to the editing of contracts, including that users can now properly edit contracts of players who have signed a contract extension while still on their previous contract. Fixed an issue where a valid Advanced Rotation would fail to load within the Rotation Timeline menu. The System Proficiency and Player Training menus will now list players in their proper lineup ordering. Fixed an issue where the portrait for the currently selected staff member would fail to draw after advancing days during the Staff Signing period of the offseason.

I love patches (the more patches, the better imo) and 2k is fixing a lot of little stuff left and right.

Oh yeah. minor sh*t though as expected. No news of player likeness updates, no additional edit options (accessories, body editing,etc.).
Hopefully Pro Am and Walk-on are flawless already.

ACE OTF is working as far as visuals are concerned, I need to dig a little deeper to see if they AI is actually doing what the menu says it's doing. But if you have it off and make selections it sticks, if you have it on On the coach is actually telling you what to do( I just wish we didn't have to manually bring up the menu to see what is called)

EDIT: With AUTO it's still getting stuck in the same Defense, but at least it works. It's been stuck on NO Threes for 7mins, and since it's been on no threes the coach isn't calling any offense like he was earlier.

Only played one game before servers went down . But this seems to affect layups / dunks as well. Even when you aren’t over dribbling . Stamina seems to drain faster . Need more time though.
Was enjoying the game pre patch- fouls and rebounding were my major concerns and they got one of them. hopefully nothing else has changed too drastically.
Next time just say "There aren't any art improvements that I wanted" and I won't say anything. There is enough misinformation flying around here about this game that I feel the need to chime in when someone says something that isn't correct.

Right now I get the error message that the servers are down (essentially). I have the patch downloaded and everything. And when I got to select MyCareer it tells me I have to join Playstation Plus.

Servers are down for me right now and I have PS Plus. So it has nothing to do with that.
If I had to guess, I'd say that the PS4 patch went through Sony certification so fast that 2k wasn't ready with the updated servers when it dropped. There was about a half-hour difference from when we first caught wind of the patch being submitted by 2k, to the time it was available for download. Nobody on PS4 will be able to get online until those servers are updated to match the patch version.
Just my take on what's going on.

Any Center over 6 foot 10 is grabbing a ton of O boards. Most frustrating part of the game right now. They really need to make the vertical rating control the jumping animations.

What the hell is this? Players are already exhausted after running to set a pick and being bumped around (I hate the fact that bumping causes fatigue, just make dribble move cost fatigue and that should be it). 2K wants us to play netball or something?
Hope this doesn't affect offline play . I just finished with my sliders and am finally starting a Player Lock MyLeague.
Stop tweaking gameplay just to cater to online players who will always find a way to "cheese" anyway. 2K is caught between making a "realistic" game in terms of reflecting reality, or making a "realistically balanced" game in terms of forcing online players to play a certain way .
I think 2K should just accept that "realistically balanced" is not possible with all the people trying to find cheese, so why not stick with making a realistic game?
What about the shooting where I missed 3 strait wide open shots with JJ Redick where I had a good release? If someone like JJ is open/wide open and he has a good release the ball should go in. Also, I still can't make a layup/put-back shot even with guys like Porzingis half the time that would be pathetic if missed in real life.
Those 2 issues make me not want to play very much.

Anyway, I'm thinking 2K should just consider removing all Player Portraits and just using the auto-generated models for everybody. At least it's "uniform" and the same across every player/team .

I didn't change how movement works. But if you dribble back and forth (or just over-dribble in general) it will be tougher to shoot after.

One disappointment is that time out logic is not in the notes. I guess we are going to have to continue to see CPU only calling like 2-3 time outs ever game. This was never a issue in the past so disappointed that this is not looking like it is going to be fixed this year.
I play offline only with custom sliders but hard finding a decent balance.
To close to default sliders and 60ish rated players shooting from corner 3/7 consistently vwith defense near by. Just wondering.

Not sure why people are saying it needs to be fixed. This is the first year in 2k ever where you can get like 10+ offensive rebounds for once. They don't need to change it.

If you are an offline guy the CPU get almost double the offensive rebounds always in the double digits no matter the team.
Not seeing that I have been playing with GS a team that doesn't rebound well in real life and I may be rebounding to well. In real life most of the time GS will give up more offensive rebounds then they get yet in the game its like I get more like 55% of the time.

Personally I didn't really notice the whole "CPU not subbing in foul trouble" thing before this patch so I'm probably not a good source of information. But it might be something to keep an eye on, for the the guys that were having trouble with this.

Personally I didn't really notice the whole "CPU not subbing in foul trouble" thing before this patch so I'm probably not a good source of information. But it might be something to keep an eye on, for the the guys that were having trouble with this.
I just played a game without the new patch against the Sixers and Embiid picked up his 4th & 5th foul with 6+ minutes left in the 3rd quarter and they left him in the rest of the quarter. Naturally he fouled out early in the 4th quarter which helped me but it isn't realistic that they'd leave him in with 5 fouls in the 3rd quarter so hopefully that's fixed.
Also really annoying how defense is in this game. Weakside defenders either play way too far off the ball and leave guys open and despite playing off their man they still don't do a good job helping out from the weakside on a guy cutting or driving to the basket. Also can't stand how they run down the court after a basket. Big men run down outside the paint and sometimes leave their man wide open near the basket for an easy score. And the offensive players need better court awareness. Too many times I'll make a good Iso move and be driving only to have my offensive teammate either get in my way or move close to me bringing their defender with them. I like this game but there's a lot of things that it just doesn't do as well as is in the past with the offball player movements. I feel like it turns into a 3 point contest way too often.
Sidenote: This patch is really annoying to download. I was at 5% so I decided to switch to another wifi I have to hopefully get it done quicker and the whole thing restarted. So I switched back to my original wifi, it restarted again so I played a game without the new patch and when I was done I was still at 2% (my internet connection is 100%) so I paused it and restarted it to see if that would get it moving again and surely enough, the whole thing restarted again. That's not 2k's issue but just really annoying. I have my PS4 in rest mode while it downloads so hopefully by the time I wake up it's done.
Still very cool to see, i am happy to see that 2K is listening to their Feedback.

Its still in the game, apparently the devs dont even know what zigzagging is this year. What is so hard about that? Either make the change direction flicking with the left stick waaayyy slower or include a dribble animation thats uses stamina.

2k wants you to play Basketball and use dribble moves. Not running side to side hoping defenders momentum carries him out of the way.

My question is when you call a time out after a free throw and then you can't see your player shooting for the 2nd shot. Is that what you're talking about? Is that really still in the game? That's disappointing. That's a major glitch IMO. Not being able to see your shooter shoot the free throw is unacceptable.

Maybe it wasn't discovered because developers and game testers don't think like cheesers and cheaters? Most common cheat tactics in ANY game are discovered AFTER the game has been released. Most developers will address exploits in patches, but the cheaters seem to always find a way.
For example, Da Czar nerfed the 5-Out cheese, and those fools found another to implement it. When it comes to combating cheaters and cheesers, it will always be a cat and mouse game.
Once the cheesers find out that the zig-zag exploit is not as effective, they'll just find out something else to use, and you'll be complaining once again about how 2K didn't find before release.

I’m using Demar Derozan and can perform 3-5 dunks on the CPU opponent and I’m on Superstar but in real life he would probably perform a facial dunk on an opponent 2-3 times a year during a 82 game season.

Exactly! There's a few bugs here and there where I'm feel like any random game tester should have found, but that's assuming that the test is familiar with the game at the same level that I would be.

The sub problem is if you are playing with advanced rotation timelines set for the teams. They will stick with whatever rotation you set through whatever situation occurs. Subs work ok by default but the problem is usually the cpu subs 4 or 5 players at once EVERYTIME they sub which is far from how real NBA teams make substitutions.
About the slower pace, I feel the same way you do. I don't want players running around like ants and skating like hockey players. the pace is a bit slower than it was after the first tuner and I love it. notice I said "first tuner" so it was NOT a patch that caused it but I hope they leave the game/player speed alone now.

Ive often thought this as well. Its understandable to have some minor things slip thru the cracks, but it seems every yr, there are some major issues at release, that shouldnt be missed. I guess it is possible, they are caught, but just not fixed, when you see the same old issues each yr, that go unfixed, and you got to figure if the devs play the game, they surely know about them. For example, CPU not managing foul trouble correctly, this has been a issue for quite a few yrs now. I do wonder if game testers for sports games, are even hard core sports fans, because every yr there are some fairly major issues, in both NBA2k and MLBTS, and Madden, is so bad, I quit buying it probably 7yr ago. Typically NBA2k gets most issues fixed as does MLBTS devs, but like for instance with the CPU poor management of foul trouble, if they cant fix it, just be upfront and say, we cant fix it, for whatever reason, instead of just ignoring the issue.

Not saying that I agree with what they're trying to do but honestly I think they're trying to balance out how EASY they made it to drive to the basket by using fouls and missed layups as the solution but once again I'll say I will gladly take that over the "suction cup, directing my player around the court no matter which way I press the left stick, brickwall" defense of nba 2k17.
Glitch that needs to be patched.
So I guess this is gonna be the silent killer glitch that stays in the game for years. Awesome job. And don't even say this doesn't exist until you've fully tested it. Competitive pro am players have known about this glitch for years, they don't say anything because 1) it's hard to prove unless you are the one using it 2) they've become dependent on it so they don't want to nerf their own glitch.
What this DOES need is a lot more publicity and testing by the community and especially 2K. Left right crap get's patched, other things get patched, yet this LEGACY GLITCH stays in the game for years . It's ridiculous.

I know where you are coming from and you are right, developers and cheesers play a mouse and cat game. But theres difference between hidden glitches and outright obvious glitches. And you wanna tell me that you couldnt see that this zigzagging would not gonna be exploited?

Truthfully, no. I wouldn't have discovered the zigzag cheese, because that's not how I play the game on a personal level. When I play the game, I play basketball. I don't play the game looking for exploits and glitches to use against my opponents in PNO. When I play ProAm, I create my player based on what I want my player to be. I don't go looking for the "best/easiest packages" in order to gain an extra advantage in Park and ProAm. If I were a game tester, I would more than likely find fundamental/situational problems in the game. Asking me to think like a cheeser is like asking me to think like a criminal. I'm just not wired that way.

then u wouldn't be a game tester. it's that simple.
game tester don't just play the game in it's final code and half the time the visuals are not even in the game as yet when majoirty of the testing is done. it might sound fun but the reality it is not as fun as u think playing an unfinished low to minimal visual game over and over and over and over and not in a traditional way. u actually play to find the credibility and functionality of the code as progress in developments are made. trust me it's tedious and boring at times.
so as far as these patches go and d credibility of how relevant these testers are when it comes to 2k it's not fair to assume that the job is easy and straight forward as going to play a game. that's what screeners and test group does not testers. they are actually there to break the game per se.
we have to admit though that 2k really does try to make the game as balance as they can on a year by year basis. so credit to them for that and as far as this patch goes let's give them feed back on it and try to make the game even better instead of bashing how easy a job is to fix something.

I just realized that the patch hasn't released on Xbox One yet. so please disregard what I said about the portraits lol. they still need to fix those timeouts though. that kinda kills the flow of the game.

You dont have to tell me that you play the game the right way. And nobody asks you to explicitely look for glitches as a customer. You are not a tester and not the developer of the game.
The first thing I thought right after release after I noticed what is possible now with the left stick was that its way too fast and will be overpowered and exploited. That could be seen from 1000 miles away.
Its on PC version with no patch released yet, i hope patch 5 fixes things up.
Been a busy day but I hope I experience this when I play tonight. already been having good games since release so the more they continue to polish the AI the happier I'll be. Cpu defensive rotations have been great as well for me.
Outside of that, the game feels about the same which is a good thing.
Any one has seen updated portraits in existing myleague saves? I still have Dion Waiters, James Johnson, etc with animated portraits in my existing myleague.
Photos have replaced animated ones in main menu roster though.
I'm using PS4 btw.
One thing to keep in mind.. the game is MASSIVE and think about all the possible permutations of your data's state there can be at any given time with all the modes, rosters, point in the career, bought items, etc. You could never hire enough testers to actually test the game as thoroughly as you'd need to, and even if you could hire them you couldn't manage them, it's unwieldy at some point.
Also, keep in mind that even if you have 3-4 solid months of QA testing of some feature or mode by knowledgeable testers, someone could accidentally break it by making a code or data change the day the game is locked for submission, at which point you only get the Sony or Microsoft internal testers looking at it and they wont be nearly as thorough.

Yes, I agree with what you said. But when you have the same issue every yr with the game, that goes unfixed, is what really irks me. We have had issues every since NBA2k14, might even be as far back as 13, I cant remember for sure, but I know for sure every since 14, the CPU has managed foul trouble horribly. In 4 yrs you dont fix it, and they have got to know its a issue, after all the devs do play the game too.
I do understand, even though its frustrating to have MyLeague issues, at the start, especially this yr when they added so much into it, as like you said, it may have been fine, and something later in the build right before release date could have broke something, so as long as it gets fixed in a patch, Im OK with that, as I usually wait till a week or so after the NBA season starts, to dive into MyLeague.

I hate to tell you this but every video game has clipping. You will never escape it especially in a game where bodies fly around in close quarters.

There is more clipping than previous years because 2k wanted to make stronger player more dominant in the paint vs weaker one for this game. Also there is way more clipping on the dribble animations, in 2k17 you'd lose ball almost every time while going for spin move or behind back into defender's body, now often dribbler just phase through defender without losing ball.

PS4 - CPU during fast matches does not call timeouts. (Call them but only if the user is winning with a large margin)

Yeah I played a 9 min game in my GM and the cpu never called a single time out. I also am having problems geting icon passing to work. I’ll have to press the icons passing button 2-3 times to get it to activate . These are very problematic for me.
No there is more clipping this year bacause 2k removed the 2 man canned animations.
Re icon passing, did you activate the advanced option (e.g. tap icon for bounce pass, hold icon for lob pass)?
Cause it gave me the same problem, but if I use the basic icon passing it works fine.

Yup, pretty obvious, all the new freeflow this year comes at the cost of more clipping.
I'll take freeflow any day because this is my favorite 2k in many many many years!
They didn't remove them, the posterizer and hip riding animations are canned . Some on ball steal animations are completely canned too, like when u try to go up for dunk/layup but you get stuck in arms flail animations and lose the ball.
The clipping happens everytime when u try to go for help defense with low weight player vs high weight (and strength) player and the offensive player can disregard your body standing in his way for the offensive animation like quick step in and dunk. That's the reason even low weight players can obtain like 60 strength rating in mc so that min-max strength difference on players wouldnt be that high. Even then clipping is way more apparent compared to previous games and makes 7'3 max weight centers so overpowered (or just tall , heavy centers in general).
There is no more "live physics" in this game than we had in 2k16 or 2k17. Free to correct me if im wrong with canned animation example from those games that's now a "live physics" but i cant think of any example right now.

I posted screenshots showing that the cpu only had 2 timeouts remaining and 24th Letter posted 2 screenshots where the cpu had 0 timeouts remaining. I don't see any timeout issues, are you on ps4.

It happened to me once last night, have not had any issues today.
If you do not even call it a full game, it's right in the final stats that you have 2 timeouts left, because the timeouts automatically climb to 2 in the last 2 minutes.
What game mode did you experience it?

I'm not seeing any difference on my side as far as Play Now on/offline goes. game is playing the same as it has been- outside of the actual changes they made. I am liking the decrease in touch fouls- ecen though there's probably still too many.
Are you playing online or offline? I play offline, so i can't speak for the online experience, but for me i noticed a difference offline.
HOF Default and having great games with no BS. everybody that I have gotten to try hall of fame default has came back with positive results, if you're not on hof I suggest giving it a try.

Huge grind.
It's the better of the basketball games out there, but it's got flaws. My biggest complaint is how much vc it takes to level up your player in mycareer (the most popular game mode). Your player starts off pretty terrible, far below the avg nba player, and to make him good enough to where playing is fun (and doesn't just feel like a painful chore) you have to spend a LOT of vc, which takes FOREVER to earn without paying real money (which is what they want you to do). Grinding out games when your player is terrible is nearly unbearable. Not to mention almost every other game mode is also vc hungry, so you either have to grind enough to support each mode or pay for vc. I really hate when companies take good games and turn them into cash cows by making it a huge grind if you don't want to pay even more money.

Rigged CPU's.
I have never been more angry with CPU's than in this game. A CPU can hit any contested shot they want with players like Julius Randle or Evan Turner, while I can't ever seem to hit a wide open jumpshot with players like, Kevin Durant, Lebron James or Klay Thompson, even with good release. If you want to have fun without getting frustrated, then don't play NBA 2K16.

Worst 2k ever.
If you played 2K14 and hated A+ 3PTS that would not go in, well this game much worse then that. I've been playing 2K since 2K12 and well 2K16 is the most disappointing 2K ever. Not all A+ shots go in including perfect released A+ shots, picks do not work properly any more, C & B shots go in more then A shots, CPU makes way too many shots dispite how good defense I put on them and finally Mycareer was so disappointing you level up slow, story is bogus, to fully level up you need to do a bunch of training in Mycareer. Overall this game is not great at all. I would recommend 2K15 it is alot better. I hope 2K will make 2K17 better and one last thing. 2K GET NEW ANNOUNCERS PLEASE.

coulda been great but.
all i ask is for there to be just one bball game in which the AI players cut to the basket and help create scoring plays without telling them to. instead they just stand around waiting for orders. every year 2k makes a great looking game loaded with options but the gameplay falls short and the control scheme is overly complicated. like u need to enter a 12step code to do an alley oop(jk. but not really). im saying u shouldnt need a phd to play this game.
