NieR: Automata May Come to Xbox One, Will Be Optimized for PS4 Pro.
NieR: Automata producer Yosuke Saito states that an Xbox One release for the game is in the cards, and confirms that the upcoming action RPG will support the PS4 Pro.
Earlier this week, Game Rant got a chance to go hands-on with NieR: Automata , and we took the opportunity to explore a little bit of the world as the YoRHa-type android 2B. The game was originally slated for a 2016 release, but its release date was pushed back in order for Platinum Games to polish off the title. While the series is known more for its tragic storyline than its graphical prowess, NieR: Automata producer Yosuke Saito did confirm that the game would be optimized for the PS4 Pro.
As it turns out, Xbox One players aren’t entirely left out of the party either. Saito has confirmed that the studio is considering bringing the title to the Xbox One platform, although this decision will rest upon how successful the initial launch of the title on both the PC and PS4 platforms will be. The original NieR title released for both PS3 and Xbox 360, so there are likely quite a few Microsoft gamers who would love to see the sequel on their platform, especially since the original NieR hasn’t been added to the Xbox One’s backward compatible library.
On the other side of things, Sony-based gamers wondering if NieR: Automata will be optimized for the PS4 Pro release can rest easy knowing that Platinum Games is working to ensure that the game not only keeps its 60 FPS framerate, but brings 4K graphics (whether upscaled or not) to the system as well:
Yes, it will be optimized for the PS4 Pro. It will keep the 60 FPS while we are trying to optimize it to have 4K quality graphics as well.
NieR: Automata won’t be the only Square Enix title to have PS4 Pro optimization, as Final Fantasy 15 will receive PS4 Pro support as well. While the latter title seems to have some noticeable rendering differences between platforms, both the PC and PS4 versions of NieR: Automata should be the same.
Saito claims that gamers will be able to squeeze about 25 to 30 hours of gameplay out of the title, which has a much improved combat system compared to the original game. While NieR: Automata will likely only upscale to 4K as opposed to running the resolution natively, we’re sure PS4 Pro owners will be happy to hear the 60 FPS guarantee from Saito.
For now, Xbox One gamers will have to wait until the game releases early next year in order to see if NieR: Automata will ever see a release on Microsoft’s console.
NieR: Automata will release for PC and PS4 in Japan on February 23, 2017, but no Western release date has been revealed.

NIER AUTOMATA developer explains why a lack of Xbox One port is actually better for the game.

The Nier Automata release date is closing in fast, but only for PS4 and PC.
Despite the original Nier coming to Xbox 360, Square Enix and Platinum Games have said that there are no plans to release the sequel on Xbox One.
Nier Automata producer Yosuke Saito explained why the company made this decision, revealing that the Xbox One market in Japan wasn't as strong.
He said: "There are currently no plans to release on this platform.
"The main reason for this is that the Japanese market for Xbox One is not strong, so the decision was made to focus on PlayStation 4 rather than to split our efforts across two platforms."

On the plus side, however, not developing an Xbox One version should have a positive effect on the overall quality of the game.
"The biggest benefit to developing on one platform is that we did not have to split our time, allowing us to focus more on the quality," Saito continued.
"It is not about whether one platform is better than the other, it’s that from a development point of view were can devote more time to one platform."
Nier Automata is the follow-up to 2010 action RPG Nier, which was released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
The game paid homage to multiple genres, featuring hack and slash elements, as well as shoot-em-up gameplay, dungeon crawling and even a text adventure section.
Development for the sequel is being handled by Platinum Games, although series creator Taro Yoko is directing.
Nier Automata has been given a March 10 UK release date on PS4 and PC.

Is Nier Automata Coming to Xbox One?
PS4 and PC players wanting to cause an insane amount of havoc in the chaotic, action filled world of Nier Automata will only have to wait a few more days until they can get their hands on it. But will this exciting title be coming to Xbox One?
While Nier Automata is slated to arrive on both PS4 and PC, Xbox One users will sadly not get to try this title anytime soon. In an interview with Nier Automata producer Yosuke Saito, he stated, “The main reason for this is that the Japanese market for Xbox One is not strong, so the decision was made to focus on PlayStation 4 rather than to split our efforts across two platforms.”
He then went on to explain that, “The biggest benefit to developing on one platform is that we did not have to split our time, allowing us to focus more on the quality. It is not about whether one platform is better than the other, it’s that from a development point of view were can devote more time to one platform.”
This may come as a surprise to Xbox One fans, as the original Nier game was actually released on the Xbox 360 back in 2010. Sadly, it seems players will either need to purchase this title for PS4 or wait until the release of Nier Automata on PC on March 10. For those looking to jump right into the action on PS4, this sequel is set to release March 7, 2017 in North America.

Nier: Automata will be optimised for PS4 Pro, Xbox One version not ruled out.
By Sherif Saed, Monday, 14 November 2016 19:12 GMT.
Nier: Automata will support PS4 Pro while maintaining smooth 60 frames-per-second.
Nier: Automata, the Platinum Games-developed sequel to the original PS3 and Xbox 360 action game, will take advantage of the upgraded power in the PS4 Pro.
Game producer Yosuke Saito confirmed to Game Rant that the game will make the jump while maintaining its 60fps frame-rate target, and will see resolution improvements. Saito did not say if Automata will reach a 4K resolution, or whether or not the image will be upscaled from a lower resolution.
As for Xbox One, Saito wasn’t able to outright confirm a port for Microsoft’s console, but he did say that it’s not out of the question. How successful the PC and PS4 versions end up being, will influence this decision, according to Saito.
Nier: Automata will be released February 23 on PC, and PS4.
