Modern graphics make the game come to life in ways that could only be imagined in the days of the tabletop adventures. Turnbased dungeon crawlers like this belong to a generation that actually made it cool to be a nerd. Oxymorons aside keep in mind that it is quite difficult and not bashful about wiping out your party. Camping in any of the chambers so that the wizard has time to heal often draws out more monsters as the injuries just keep piling on. But don't fret, when your party is wiped, you return to town with all the loot and gold that you earned so long as you don't play the hardcore mode (if u do than goodluck w that!) Very immersive and mood setting musical score but practically nothing in the way of voice acting. If u want a story than be prepared to read a good bit of text. 72 out of 75 people found this helpful. Fun, but clearly an overpriced iPad port. The gameplay is fun, but the controls are a little strange, especially text scrolling. After playing for a while it becomes obvious this is a straight port of an iPad game. The insult is that the game is under $3 on the Apple app store. This aside, the game is fun, if a little stunted from its tablet roots. Gameplay is all tactical, and is fun for a tactical hack and slash. I've taken a star off because the port is poorly done. The developer really should have taken the time to clean up the user interaction. As it stands now, $30 for a $3 game is unacceptable. Seeing a 10x markup for a port has left me with buyer's remorse. 100 out of 107 people found this helpful. Fun, but odd controls. This game was originally a phone app, and is obvious when you play. on Android, it costs $4.80, but additional "DLC" is $3 a pop, with 10ish DLC. This game appears to already have most, if not all, DLC. just want to throw that out there, so people know that you get more with this $30 version. now to the actual game, its fun. its a hack and slash kind of game, with some spells thrown in. graphics are pretty old looking, and the controls for the game are weird. Example, to read a spells effect, you need to hold Y, move with D-Pad, and then hold down A. While holding Y the whole time. its just Wonky, but combat is easy and fun. going to towns show where controls are the worst, hard to navigate and read text boxes that pop up. this game would be 10X Better with realist changes to item/chat boxes. it just bogs the game down, and frustrates. the $30 price seems a bit much for a game that hasnt been optimized for consoles. Only get this if you are a Warhammer fan or have money to blow. 24 out of 25 people found this helpful. Fun RPG-lite Turn-based Dungeon Adventure. WH:Q is true to the original board game; this is a turn based hack and slash dungeon adventure. Warhammer Quest on the Xbox One is the same as the Steam and iPad versions, but it includes ALL of the DLC content for free in the base price (instead of having to pay nearly $45 USD like you do on the iPad). The DLC content includes all 7 of the extra adventurers (Archmage, Bright Wizard, Dwarf Trollslayer, elf Shadow Warrior, Ogre Irongut, Warrior Priest and Witchhunter), both the Orc and Skaven region and enemy packs, all 5 of the legendary weapons and the 3 dungeon packs which include vampires and zombies, necromancers and skeletons and the vampire tileset. The interface for reading longer story passages is a little slow, but the game supports English, French, Spanish, German and Italian if you'd prefer to play the game in a different language. The conversion from a touch-based interface to using the controller is okay. Overall a fun dungeon crawl! ⚔👍 18 out of 20 people found this helpful. Overpriced Dungeon Diving Fun. Don't let my star rating fool you. If you are into leveling diffrent characters and dungeon diving, this game is for you. Only wait for it to go on sale. It's simple and fun, but not worth $30. 15 out of 17 people found this helpful. True to classic GamesWorkshop strategy with luck n fun. This time I am not playing over at the neighbor kid who doesn't quite know all the rules. If you enjoy Bloodbowl, this game is for you. Turn based strategy in a dungeon filled with monsters, one random tile at a time. Assemble a team of four different classes from a roster of eleven to loot and level up. I really like when I equip an item on the inventory screen and it clearly alters the gameplay appearance. +45hours of smooth, glitch free, gameplay. awesome fun. Spambott's review has valid negative comments. I wish there was a 3/4 isometric view and a x4 fast forward. 19 out of 27 people found this helpful. WHQ! It even has the town mishaps. Really cool if you had the '89 memories. 3 out of 3 people found this helpful. A reaI table top D&D like experience 👍 Turn based combat system thats fun & easy to pick up. Challenging, rewarding, and fun. One person found this helpful. Fun Strategy Game. I've only played the game for 5hrs and I already love ❤ it. You can play it casually for a few minutes or hours at a time because it has automatic save. The only thing I wish is that it has hidden traps or treasure that can be found if you walk on a certain tile. One person found this helpful. Great mobile port. So i wasnt in a rush to get this since i already plunged into the mobile version. but what do you know! im totally re-addicted again! such a good game and a treat to play on a big screen! all Warhammer and turn based strategy fans should consider getting this. it also includes all dlc, hence the price. Side Note: the trailer above shows the game running at a poorly 20-30fps, well this is not the case so dont worry. im playing on the X now, but ive also played it on the S and original One. i can confirm it looks to be running around 60fps. not sure if its locked but ive seen no frame drops :D. Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade launches for PC next month, but development on the Xbox One and PS4 versions has been temporarily halted, Bandai Namco announced today. The PC version of Eternal Crusade, the new online Warhammer shooter from developer Behavior Interactive, will exit Early Access and release in full on September 23. The console versions, however, will now launch "at a later date" that was not specified. "We are committed to delivering the best experience for the release on September 23, with a PC version that matches our ambitions in terms of content and quality and sets the runway for our free lifetime expansions," said Behavior's Stephen Mulrooney in a press release. "To pause the development of the console versions was a tough decision but will result in an optimized and extended experience when released.” Disappointing as this might be for some, it is commendable that the console versions won't be rushed out the door. Eternal Crusade has been available in Steam Early Access for some time now, though it doesn't offer the MMO elements that make up the complete experience. The current version sells for $40, with in-game credits also sold for real-world currency. The full game promises to let you take part in PvP and PvE battles between four factions (Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Orks, and Eldar), with players able to choose to align with 20 different sub-factions. There will also be "hundreds of weapons" along with customization options and accessories "drawn from 29 years of Warhammer 40,000 lore." Last updated by Eddie Makuch on February 5, 2015 at 10:49AM. You are now subscribed. Independent Swedish developer Fatshark Games (Escape Dead Island) on Thursday announced a new Warhammer game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Due out in the second half of 2015, the game is officially called Warhammer: End Time - Vermintide. It's a co-op game that combines first-person shooter elements with melee mechanics. These come together to make Vermintide a "visceral" experience, Fatshark says. Vermintide is set in the the besieged city of Ubersreik. Players choose from five unique heroes with different play-styles, abilities, gear, and personalities, and must work together to fight off the rat-like Skaven enemies. The game is set in the End Times of the Warhammer universe, and Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund says Vermintide will "stay true" to the well-established lore, including familiar foes and locations. For more on Vermintide, check out the teaser trailer above and some images in the gallery below. Vermintide isn't the only new Warhammer game in the works, as Total War developer Creative Assembly is also working on project based on the popular fantasy series. Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide. Not really an FPS, more of a first person beat-em up. Great melee system and teamwork focused gameplay. Plays like a shooter on the easier settings, but turns into first person Bloodborne once you learn well timed dodges are the key to survival and saving your team. Yes, this is a teamwork game. Its not a race to the end of the level, so its ok to stop, turn around, and see how your team is doing. Theres usually some decent players online, but join the 'vermintide exterminators united' xbox club to find trustworty teammates. friendly bits of advice, go to gameplay settings and turn your player outlines from 'ON' to 'ALWAYS ON' that way you never lose track of your team, get comfy with the dodge and tag buttons, dodge will save you more than block. Even if in plain sight; tagging a special enemy will help your team line up head shots, espcially in the middle of a horde. dont throw the grimoires away they give you better loot. hold block while reviving teammates. Have fun. 1224 out of 1249 people found this helpful. A Fun Warhammer Experience. I got this for a steal and would highly recommend it. If it goes on sale in the near future I would definitely pick it up! Its focused heavily on coop and having a few friends is essential. The quick play won't allow you to play the narrative in order, so setting up a custom match w/ friends will help. Solid and challenging gameplay combined with good graphics and a fun customization system make for a unique spin on the tried and true L4D gauntlet run. 110 out of 117 people found this helpful. Left 4 Dead with Big Rats and more! This game is very similar to left 4 dead. You and three others progress by doing various tasks over the course of a mission. Overall very fun game, definitely with friends! 93 out of 100 people found this helpful. Solid Indie Game. This game is inspired by Left 4 Dead by Valve, except that it has gear and loot. The maps are fun and unique, the enemies are fun to fight, and the grind is real but fair. My only complaint is how loot is dished out. I would prefer if the game only dropped loot for the class you are using rather than a mixed bag. The lore book is a nice touch for us less versed in Warhammer. The AI bots can be kind of dumb, however. Finally, the difficulty settings are perfectly tuned. Overall, a solid title with those common indie team frayed edges. I cannot wait for the sequel. 4/5. 168 out of 184 people found this helpful. Great Co-op game that is overlooked. I am new to the Warhammer play and settings, but was not surprised to learn it has a strong fan base since it released its table top strategy games in the 80's. The setting of early renaissance era post Holy Roman Empire Germany sets it far apart from other magic/adventure RPGs enhances the uniqueness of the game.. 133 out of 146 people found this helpful. This game is great. The only thing thats bad is the servers are down yes. But its not their fault they are a smaller company so they werent expecting 1 million+ people to play their game. For those who got the game for free be patient please this game doesnt need so many 1 stars because its not their fault. We all need to remember that when the servers are back on this game will be so fun to play since we 1 million+ people. 120 out of 132 people found this helpful. After the updates, the game is playable! Previously from my last review, I stated this game was bugged and didn't recommend picking up Vermintide as it prevented some players to get pass the main menu to the game. After some hotfixes the bug was removed the game became much more enjoyable. I'm a big fan of Warhammer Fantasy/40k, and was following this game for a year when it first came on to PC. Finally after almost a year, we get a port! This game is a spiritual success of Left 4 Dead with loot, interesting characters, and a swarm of Skaven to slay. If you get this game, it would be best to recuit some friends to play it or search the internet for players that can help you, the BOTS are brain dead for the most part. It haves the same thrill and general gameplay of Left 4 Dead, so if you enjoy the games then this deserves your attention. There are some others here and there, but for the most part the game works as it should. Definitly would recommend this game to Warhammer fans and Co-op fanatics alike. 143 out of 159 people found this helpful. Medieval Left 4 Dead :D. I love this game! It reminds me a lot of Left 4 Dead except with a different enemy and in another era. It's cool to also find out that Fat Shark had a lot of inspiration from those games. Anyways, this game is intense with tons of carnage, and the replayability is great! 28 out of 29 people found this helpful. This is Warhammer not L4D. When this game launched it did have a few issues with freezing, crashing, and losing connection. A couple patches later and these issues are fixed. Vermintide is a 4 player co-op FPS set in the Warhammer universe, the Skaven (aka ratmen) finally decide that the surface world and all things there must die. You can choose from 5 heroes that are trying to survive the seemingly endless Vermintide. This game plays best with friends and rewards you for playing on the more challenging difficultes. You earn loot at the end of each successful mission based on dice rolls. You can then upgrade gear, unlock traits, or reroll the traits. All in all this game offers a ton of content and is looking like a really good buy. 80 out of 89 people found this helpful. A Hidden Treasure. I worked at gamestop when this came out, we only got one copy and nobody ever bought it because even the employees didn't know what it was. That being said I am absolutely enjoying it now. It draws heavily from Left4Dead gameplay but with each player controlling a unique character that can even be customized based on what items you equip. The loot system isnt the best and makes it feel a little grindy, but still offers great opportunity to try other characters and equipment. You can play solo but multiplayer and teamwork are encouraged and in my opinion necessary. I give this game a 4.5/5. 61 out of 67 people found this helpful. Translate to English. The graphics are amazing and the level design Now that some of the game breaking bugs have been removed the game is actually a blast to play! The graphics are amazing and the level design is some of the best I have ever seen in a game. The audio is great and the dialogue between the characters is fun to listen too. Fans of Left 4 Dead will be right at home here but this game is much better in my opinion thanks to the loot system and weapon customisation. It still has some bugs and the matchmaking is awful but it's definitely a game worth getting and hopefully more content will follow soon as it's a little lacking at the moment. … Expand. Pretty, and pretty boring. In vermintide you can play as 1 of 5 different classes either alone or with Warhammer the end times vermintide. Pretty, and pretty boring. In vermintide you can play as 1 of 5 different classes either alone or with other players… Neither way you play is free of frustration. None of these classes really feel different as everyone gets a close and ranged weapon, so it doesn’t matter who you choose… Every level in this game is essentially the same… Run forward and kill the rats in your way… The levels are beautiful to look at, but exploring them is very dull. There’s really no incentive to explore at all, and a handful of maps are easy to get lost in since this game lacks a map or any indication of direction… But either way you’re just finding your way forward and slicing or shooting at rats… It gets old fast… Each mission also has 0 checkpoints… So if everyone dies, you fail… no matter how deep you are into a level… During act 1 I had no issues with neither online players nor bot players… I would occasionally get a player too focused on running around rather than completing quests so they’d drag things out… but for the most part everything went smoothly… I’d get jumped by a backstabber or snagged by a strangler and my teams ai would come to my rescue… By time I got to act 2 however all of this seemed to stop… The bots in this game were like those annoying players not keeping up with me, so if I got caught in a bad situation that was it for me… they wouldn’t rush to heal me like they had been in the 4 missions before… And they’re completely useless as the end of act one transitions into more objective based missions that team ai don’t help with at all leaving you to have to carry every barrel, watching your own back.. defending points yourself, as the bots seem to have absolutely 0 concept of strategy programmed into them or any awareness of what’s going on in a level… This game is so samey that the developers thought, oh just make them kill stuff was sufficient enough… buts it’s not and it leaves you feeling frustrated when you’re faced with the dilemma of waiting for a human to join or hopping right into a mission with a bot… The bots are so garbage that there’s one missions for example where you have to protect a generator, and the 2nd one is on a plot of land with a gap you cant jump.. Clearly the only way to defend is by shooting them… My character ran out of ammo and my other 3 partners just stood there with their magic wands up their butt instead of shooting at them… By the way, massive design flaw considering there was no ammo around in case something like this happened… Or maybe, idk, program your artificial intelligence to actually be intelligent… Each of these missions are fairly short, lasting about 15 to 30 minutes each… 3 acts containing about 4 missions each and a few bonus missions not tied to an act as well… the campaign is about 6-8 hours long. Decent length, but the loot system in this game encourages multiple playthroughs… When you level up or finish a level you get a new weapon… you can take your weapons and equip them, or take the ones you don’t want to a forge to combine them for something new or salvage them for upgrade materials for another weapon of yours… The problem here though that rewards feel far too slow for any of this to feel satisfying.. It would be much more fun to level up in game at a faster pace, and weapons to be found in chests… Or at the very least keep the weapons obtained attached exclusively to the character you completed the quest with rather than a strictly random drop, this would actually give incentive to replay as each character, but this isn’t the case, so there’s no reason to… Vermintide is a great looking game.. But there’s nothing here that you won’t get in far deeper rpg games other than maybe co op. I Give Warhammer The End Times Vermintide a. And playing with a full party of four will make your This review is for the Xbox one version, I heard the pc version is massively better. And playing with a full party of four will make your experience a million times better. When I first played the demo I was immediately hyped about this, it was like left for dead meets medieval times, but through my 90 hours of game time I found out how wrong I was for being hyped. Here's the problems with the A. I. : it gets stuck, it won't help you, it has no common sense, it gets stuck in the back of the level, steals health from you when you need it the most and will NEVER heal you! and will steal tombs and then drop them so you can't find them. Falling hurts, even though you can't climb down the ladders, so you end up trying to get down the ladder and falling and taking damage or even getting down. Coop parter can't hear in game dialog. Stretching glitch happens pretty much every time you play, I usually love when the A.I stretches across the screen, but when it happens every level multiple times it just gets annoying and no kidding hurts my eyes at times. 3 or 4 of the same infected can spawn at one time and when it's the gunners or hook rats or assassins they can pretty much get your whole team down immediately. You get disconnected all the time from your party of friends, every time I play mutable times, And I have to clear my cache on my Xbox one every time it disconnects! And at times you can't hear your friends in the game chat but you can hear other people in the game such as randoms. I thought this game would fill the void of left for dead for me but it was just a disappointment and a sorry attempt to cash in on L4D fans. This game will not sit on my shelve with my other games, it will go in what I call the box where only the most disappointing games go so I will never see or remember how disappointing they where. … Expand.
