I bought this a month ago and I was so happy I did. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful. Great game. Ubisoft really pulled through with this one. I was very hesitant on buying Watchdogs 2 after the first was such a flop but honestly give this a try the scenery is magnificent the gameplay is a lot of fun and it has a really cool story the driving mechanics are a little iffy but once you figure them out it's a lot of fun I highly recommend giving it a try. A Great game with inexcusable flaws. Watch Dogs unfortunately suffers from hype. It promised amazing graphics and a deep open Watch_Dogs. A Great game with inexcusable flaws. Watch Dogs unfortunately suffers from hype. It promised amazing graphics and a deep open world, this is never achieved, but the 18 hour campaign featured here is one of the best open world campaigns I’ve played in a while.. Watch Dogs is a 3r5d person open world shooter game with a dash of puzzle… You play as Aiden Pierce trying to get to the bottom of his Nieces murder… The story telling in Watch Dogs is great… Especially when your focus changes from your niece to someone else that I won’t mention to prevent spoilers, but I feel like the transition was perfect due to that connection… it makes you care. it keeps you pushing forward… but at the same time you’re still going after everyone involved in the initial hit… And again the writing and introduction to each character in the story is so great that you’ll either really love or really hate someone… you feel pierces emotion personally which creates a great deal of immersion in this story.. To get information on locations you have to hack into buildings and severs… And there’s freedom in the way you can approach this… Watch Dogs works great as a 3rd person shooter with an intuitive cover system… an easy to access weapons wheel, tons of weapon variety, a great amount of ammo and crafting parts for bombs… a great stealth system to silently take enemies down or take them out with a silenced pistol… Or you can hack cameras and explosives… I personally had the most fun jumping from camera to camera, waiting for opportunities to explode fuse boxes, trigger alarms for a takedown set up… activating the grenades inside of enemy pockets… Many times during the story I didn’t have to fire a single bullet to get everything I came for.. I hopped from camera to camera hacked into the system and left… Hacking here is very simple and comes down to a pipe type puzzle of feeding a blue line into other pieces and unlocking them. And these sections are the only mandatory hacking sections as again you can just play as a third person shooter if you’d like… Outside of the 18 hour campaign though is the open world of Chicago and unfortunately the open world is the weakest aspect in the entire game… Think of this more as a hub world to extend play time by spreading out mission locations, because ubisoft took 0 note in crafting this open world as it has issues in its open world I haven’t ran into since the PlayStation 2…. Cars will disappear from where you left them if you run into a building to start a mission and come back out… During chases you have to ram cars to stop them or hack the world around you. which is actually a great deal of fun during intense chases, to blow up streets, raise bridges and road blocks while youre chasing or being chased by the police… But you cant shoot out of your window to shoot out tires despite enemies being able to shoot while driving… Another annoyance with these chase missions is that if you do get the person youre chasing stuck, you cant just pull them out of the vehicle theyre in… the only way to continue is shoot them through the window or get back into your car and ram them until they get out… This isn’t too annoying in story, but is highly annoying in online play when you have a random player trying to hack you… You can turn this feature off, but anyone at any time can enter your world and you can do the same entering there’s for rep, or co-op and competitive fun like races… But again these are real people. not ai controlled enemies, so trying to get a head shot on someone in a vehicles is much harder to do in this instance… And then theres hacking npcs to profile them…. To stop crimes from happening before they happen. I personally didn’t enjoy this aspect at all, I found it to be shallow filler and had no interest in doing random chases as again the campaign created such a great deal of urgency that it created tunnel vision for me… While Wacth_Dogs didn’t deliver the ground breaking experience it promised.. If you can look past those promises for what it actually is, it’s a great game with a great story. Watch Dogs®2. I loved the first Watch_Dogs despite some of its disappointing qualities and lackluster reviews. The story was enjoyable, its characters were unique and interesting, and the gameplay was fun. There were some features I would've loved to see added though, like deeper customiaztion and better driving mechanics. Fortunately, Watch_Dogs 2 improves nearly everything about the first game-keyword being "nearly," but I'll elaborate on that momentarily. A major improvement was the gameplay on all fronts, with the driving being much faster and responsive, the stealth sections serving as a challenge, and the hacking was further explored, giving the player multiple ways of accomplishing an objective (including the ability to use an RC car and drone). Deeper customization was also added, but was nothing more than passable in my opinion. The story here is the only feature from WD1 that didn't improve. The characters fall flat with little development, and the story isn't impressive. Overall, 4/5. 244 out of 265 people found this helpful. Here is my review. Do what you will. This entry into the Watch Dogs series was a definite improvement from the first. The game follows a much younger protagonist, so it shapes a whole different outlook on the game. The characters were very well portrayed and the game has a very well written story that just pulls you in. The progression of abilities was while only slightly different from the previous title was done well and showed growth in the lead characters hacking skills. Other improvements over the first title such as permenantly buying veichles, better fast travel andco-op gameplay made my time playing this much more entertaining. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new open world game to play and I excitedly await the release of future dlc. 109 out of 117 people found this helpful. Really nice but. Ok the game is great with its story and graphics and how every NPC literally are doing real life things unlike GTA 5 with most of their NPC's are just standing or sitting but I wish the game was more rewarding. You get money but when you buy all the clothes, cars, and guns (which needs to be more customizable) what do you buy? You cant buy a house or a garage or anything which would be nice. And it would be amazing if there were more hacking styles. Also I wish there were more activitys besides side missions. Anyways imma quit complaining because its still a good game but it could have included way more fun things in it. btw I like how leaves fall on your car and when you drive away they fly off 😋 little things like that made me enjoy the game more. 244 out of 270 people found this helpful. Awesome Fun. first this game is leagues beyond WD1, which is what any great sequel does improving on all aspects of gameplay. You can literally spend hrs exploring the beautiful open world and just taking pics with Scout app, not to mention the story and side missions and brilliant online coop, just so much to love about this entry, pretty much what AC2 and Ezio did to breath life for the AC series this is doing for WD. 78 out of 85 people found this helpful. BEFORE YOU BUY. This is a lot better than the first one, and I say that because of the beautiful graphics, new hacking capabilities/skills, and especially the missions. New hacks such as getting people arrested, dropping grenades with your quadcopter, and even hacking people to do tasks for you, is honestly a big upgrade. My most favorite thing in the game is the missions, mostly because of how fun they are. I won't go more in detail about the missions, because I'm sure you get the idea. Now just like any other game, this one isn't perfect. It seems as if Ubisoft went far enough to create a GTA like game, which is still fun, but just lacks a few features that many gamers want. The beautiful open world of San Francisco is not fun to free roam. This is because vehicles like aircraft aren't present. It's mainly meant for missions. The online features aren't worth it. Unless your friends have the game, the servers choose players for you instead of you doing it yourself, and you can only play 2 players. 346 out of 398 people found this helpful. Great Sequel. Watchdogs. was very underwhelming in terms of storyline and gameplay This sequel corrected almost all of the issues I have with the original. The story is fun/funny with lots of pop culture references. The actual gameplay is much improved with lots of decent action, and puzzles to solve. Great follow up, and proof that Ubisoft listened to the critics. 117 out of 132 people found this helpful. Batman and R0bi. This game is everything the first game tried to be. It's colorful and funny but at the same time it is serious. Watch Dogs 2 is in, one of the best places for a technological revolution, The Bay Area. This game is a must buy for og players and new ones. 72 out of 81 people found this helpful. One of my favorite games of this year. It takes everything good from the original Watch dogs and adds so much more to it and gets rid of the bad. It takes a Grand Theft Auto fun type of approach to it instead of a dark Batman like approach. It has memorable likeable characters and the game has a level of freedom to offer. The city feels alive and San Francisco was a perfect choice for this game. There's much to do in this game and hours of enjoyable story and gameplay. Online mode is just as fun too and there's is tons of character and weapon customization to offer. My only down side about this game is some of the physics but the game makes up for it and has some pretty good graphics. I feel the creators love and passion for this game when playing it. This is worth $60 and i recommend it to anyone that loves open world game. 107 out of 123 people found this helpful. Watch Dogs 2 is AMAZING. This game is really just astonishing and a "must buy". It is in San Francisco and has great open world features and games. This game also includes Watch Dogs 1 T-Bone and Aiden Pierce which is great for us OG players. The CO-OP mode is also great bringing back my favorite, hacking invasions. In all great game! THX UBISOFT. 94 out of 108 people found this helpful. Enjoyed it. I loved the story line and doing parkour leaping from balconys but there are a few minor gliches the story is kinda short but online co-op and co-op missions make up for it also on the box it says that co-op is 2-4 players but when I play it only lets us play with 2 players but other then that the game is great a solid 4/5. 43 out of 48 people found this helpful. Strong language, comedy, conspiracy, and blowing stuff up. Fun in all aspects or gameplay. Even the cutscenes were worth watching! Very mature game though, so parents beware! Your little angels ears will be taking a vocally explicit sleigh ride, while unmercifully slaying bystanders and cops. I also received an extra 20% with my gamers club subscription. Enjoy ! I would recommend this to a friend. Awesome game! This a fun playground to play in. SAN Fran is beautifully rendered. I would recommend this to a friend. The ability to hack nearly everything is implemented exceedingly well. It's fun causing havoc by hacking vehicle controls while in a pursuit with police. The acting is fairly solid as well and the motion capture on faces is outstanding. However, this game is not without flaws, there's audio bugs, where the sound goes out completely. I have to reboot just for it to come back. My main gripe is that two missions are permanently locked for me because the NPC that I'm supposed to meet is "missing" they're just. gone. I still really enjoy this game however, and recommend it to anyone. I would recommend this to a friend. There is so much to do in this game! A lot of improvements over the 1st watch dogs and if you weren't a fan of the original, you're sure to be a fan of this one! I would recommend this to a friend. Open world goodness. This game is amazing. The options on what to do is limitless. Hacking seems to be so much fun causing mayhem. I would recommend this to a friend. Great action game. Good entry in the franchise. Read a real review, it'll be better for you, I just need my points for the review. I would recommend this to a friend. great game exciting game must have game, real nice game. Watch Dogs Review. In its opening scene, Watch Dogs refers to hackers as modern-day magicians. That’s a good analogy for the bag of powerful but mostly scripted tricks we get to use as we run amok in this huge and impressively detailed map of Chicago. With the push of a button, you can trigger environmental traps that smash pursuing cars, empty a citizen’s bank account, or even remotely activate a grenade in an enemy’s pocket. Hacking’s not as dynamic as it appears at first, but the illusion gives us a bit more to do than there is in most third-person action games, and it puts on a great show. Our hero, Aiden Pearce, is an empty trenchcoat as far as personality goes. It’s remarked at one point that he’s suppressing his personality, so it must be intentional, but it doesn’t make him a strong character. Fortunately the supporting cast is much more interesting. An enthusiastic and cavalier fixer, a gang leader who I affectionately refer to as Avon Barksdale: Superhacker, and a soft-spoken mob boss steal the show and make it a likeable and well-acted group. Character animations are elegantly done, too. Watch Dogs’ completely open map is another big strength: it’s huge, diverse, and intricately detailed. The rural area of Pawnee balances out Chicago’s urban sprawl, and it all looks great, especially at sunset or during a rainstorm. Everything runs at a smooth 30 frames per second, however, after playing for a few hours I did start to experience frequent slowdowns when new mission objectives were loading up. Fortunately they never happened when anything interesting was going on, but they’re definitely noticeable and get progressively worse as the story goes on. This techno-thriller fiction is all about the power of information in a super-connected city, and one of its cleverest and most distinctive tweaks to the open world genre is how much information it gives you. Scanning a pedestrian or thug pops up a brief, randomly generated personal history – some fact about their hobbies or lifestyle, plus their age, occupation, and income. It’s a small thing, but it’s surprisingly effective at humanizing them. I actually felt a pang of guilt when I accidentally ran someone down and then saw that they were on the waiting list for a liver transplant, and as a result this is one of the few open-world action games where I rarely went on a violent rampage. And that had very little to do with the meaningless reputation meter, which appears to have no consequences whatsoever. Over more than 20 hours, the straightforward revenge story becomes more and more complex until it’s bursting with intrigue. only to take a strange turn for the mundane when the motivations behind it all are revealed. For a game that deals with themes like surveillance society and media manipulation, Watch Dogs’ villains just aren’t thinking very big. It can last a lot longer than 20 hours though, because Watch Dogs is extremely good at distracting attention away from the main story with a steady stream of side quests and minigames. I’m a big fan of the gang hideout missions, which really let you test your stealth skills as you take down well-guarded targets (though it’s kinda strange that they ask you to keep the gang leader alive but are cool with murdering everyone else). Most of the other activities can get repetitive, like the pre-crime interventions that always result in the same foot chase, but there are so many types, from criminal convoy ambushes to chess and poker to drinking, that they don’t get old quickly if you mix up what you play. Oh, and the simple but delightful Spider Tank rampage shouldn’t be missed. There was definitely some tender love and care put into the way that monstrosity moves. I admire Ubisoft’s restraint in including only one hacking puzzle minigame in a game about an uberhacker hero, and it’s both clever and used infrequently enough that it doesn’t become annoying. There’s also the ability to take over any surveillance camera you can see, even some worn by guards, and it’s put to good use in puzzles where you leap from camera to camera as you attempt to get line of sight on a terminal you want to hack. Unless you opt out, you’re also regularly prompted to jump into multiplayer activities, like a simple race through the streets or a much more interesting cat-and-mouse game of tailing and hacking another random player. It’s a setup with a lot of room for creativity and hilarious experimentation as you try to hide or blend in with the civilians. There’s also the highly entertaining capture-the-flag style Decryption game, where one player desperately tries to evade the rest, and a challenging race where you have to evade traps and cops triggered by a player using the free iPad app. Watch Dogs’ missions are much more stealth-focused than most open-world action games, which gives them some good variety. A smooth cover system and the obligatory time-slowing power (it seems like everybody can slow down time these days) make silenced headshots easy to score, and the wet splattering sound it produces is a great, gross reward. I do wish there were fewer missions that auto-fail you if you’re discovered, and that there were better rewards for using gadgets like the powerful blackout tool (knocking out the power in the area is kind of a stealth nuke) to ghost through an area without being spotted or knocking anyone out. The best missions give you the option to stealth or fight through, and that makes Aiden feel smarter than a typical guns-blazing maniac. After the bullets do start to fly, the cover-based gunplay feels good, even if the arsenal is pretty conventional. The standout is the pump-action grenade launcher, which makes short work of both thugs in armor and vehicles (it’s essential for taking out fleeing hackers in multiplayer). What often makes the firefights in Watch Dogs memorable is how you can fool enemies by moving around behind cover, causing them to fire at your last known position instead of where you are now. That allows you to get in some good flanking moves, and makes the enemies feel more like foolish humans than all-seeing robots. When you get in a car and drive, Watch Dogs is some good arcadey fun. Cartoonish crash physics and roads littered with tons of breakable objects make smashing through shortcuts spectacular and hilarious. However, car chases gradually become more and more disappointing and tedious because of their lack of combat options. You can’t fire out the window as you drive, so all you can do is drive around hacking things to trigger hazards. Half the time you don’t even see the car or trap involved in the wreck. And enemy cars are so rubber-bandy that it’s impossible to simply outrun them even in the speediest of cars - you have to hack things to end the chase. The slightly lower resolution is the only noticeable difference between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Watch Dogs, and I doubt I’d have picked up on it if I hadn’t just come from playing the PS4 version. I did quickly disable the trigger vibrations in the options menu -- they appear to happen when your car shifts gears (which is automatic), which I found to be useless and distracting feedback. Naturally the Xbox 360 version doesn't look as nice as the newer generation consoles when it comes to texture resolution, physics objects like debris and smoke, and draw distance, but it does look respectable for a game on this platform in 2014. More importantly, it runs consistently, avoiding the major performance problems that drag down the PlayStation 3 version. The only notable differences content-wise are the disappointing lack of the Decryption multiplayer mode and the multiplayer free-roam mode, but those absences don't make me recommend it any less for those who don't own a PS4 or Xbox One. I had quite a rant written about how busted the PC version of Watch Dogs was at launch, with both Uplay issues that prevented me from playing at all for the first two days and massive stuttering problems even on low settings making it nearly unplayable on two different PCs once I did. I was mere hours from posting a review on Sunday with a greatly reduced score attached when a patch resolved most of my performance problems. [Note: I can only assume there was a stealth patch, since it simply started running well where it had not before.] Watch Dogs on PC still isn't a fantastically well optimized game, but my nearly four-year-old GTX 570 is able to deliver over 30fps (sometimes over 60) on medium settings. I do experience a few dropped frames here and there, but as of this writing it's otherwise just as good as the PS4 version (better, if you've got newer hardware) and just as easy to recommend. Naturally you do have to suffer through the inconvenience of Ubisoft's Uplay login nonsense, and Aiden's smartphone menu system is a pain to navigate with the mouse. One-button hacking might be overly simplistic, but it does give you abilities that make playing through Aiden’s story feel powerful and fun. Doing side missions and multiplayer as you make your way through the dark and lengthy story makes it feel like a huge adventure, and stealth options let you play smart if you prefer. Car chases aside, Watch Dogs is fundamentally very well made, and has more than enough unique ideas to make it a great and memorable open-world action game. Watch Dogs is an excellent open-world action game with some unique hacking-magic that makes it a memorable experience. Great open world Hacking powers Mission variety Weak car chases Auto-fail stealth missions. © 1996-2018 Ziff Davis, LLC. Roaming an open world Chicago, you are able to hack into endless different types of technology. It was refreshing to see a new type of game that I am not use to, although the controls are hard to get use to at first it is still a blast. There are many weapon and vehicle choices for the size of the map. Cons: The graphics of the game seemed to be last gen to me, a lot of textures were not very well done along with the cut scenes. But overall they aren't terrible. The vehicle controls remind me of playing GTA 4, which is terrible because the cars don't handle as they should and you can virtually run into anything without damaging the vehicle or your person. As you drive you can hack into traffic lights and what not but you are unable to use your gun.. Also may last complaint is when I was told you were able to choose how to play the game (stealth or run and gun) I was excited. Come to find out there are alot of missions where you will fail if you are seen by an enemy.. Overall this is a fantastic game with a new refreshing taste of open world play. Definitely worth a purchase if you are still thinking about it. I would recommend this to a friend. Fun, but Amazing. Hardly. I have been waiting for this game since it's delay last fall. With the delay I guess I was expecting, more? The game is fun, the hacking is awesome, the maps are huge and I love the whole concept of the game it's really great. With that said it seems to have something missing. For starters I'm not a graphics snob but immediately I noticed how last gen it looks normally things like that don't bother me but. in this game it does and some textures are just bizarre throughout the world. There is a vast amount of vehicles but their handling is worse than GTA 4. Along with poor handling the damage aspect is bizarre u can hit vehicles but it seems like u don't hit them, I crashed my car into a pole and it didn't even look like the car had Ben damaged a bit. Overall, gameplay is great, the hacking adds so much to the game without the game would be terrible. But with its graphical hiccups it's hard to feel u are truly in the next gen universe. It's quite a shame, bc just a few minor things could easily make this game a 5 star worthy title. It's still good I would recommend it but don't expect too much bc I was a bit let down. I would recommend this to a friend. Sandbox Hacking. We were all waiting on the next Grand Theft Auto but they were a now show for the NextGen! This delivered! Hacking the Utilities offered new strategies for dealing with the tasks at hand. Criminals, Police, and Terrorist Human Traffickers, it didn't matter the element as long as you had your trusty IPhone. The game is good. There is a story and a hefty amount of side missions to complete. There are mini-games like chess problems. It has some nudity so watch out for the kids. The mini-games -- digital trips -- are fun. I competed in a few online races. The best feature is invading someone else's game to hack them. It's real. You got to hide but if they find you it's game on. Interesting concept. I noticed when my level got too high nobody attempted to hack me. You have some customizations for your jacket, hats, and weapons. The soundtrack is a good mix. Overall a fun title. I would recommend this to a friend. Definitely not GTA. This game had so much potential but ultimately proved to be lackluster. Online play is unbelievably boring with absolutely nothing to do. The single player story is interesting but has little replay value. No, I would not recommend this to a friend. My expectations were apparently too high. I waited awhile for this game to come out so naturally my expectations were set high from the get go, I guess thats my fault. The studio had a ton of time to make this game golden but instead we are left with a sloppy lackluster title. The graphics weren't up to par for a next gen game and there is a lot of lazy graphical problems as well. For instance if you walk up to a mirror or glass store front, you will not see your reflection! This graphical stuff was done on some of the oldest systems. How easy would that have been to code into the game, i know it doesn't effect the way the game plays and what not but its just careless to not complete the thing. Another graphical problem that angers me is store front glass reflections use the same background over and over. When a storefront's reflection should show another building because a building is actually across from it, instead it will show the same stock photo of some trees and a building. The story isn't engaging enough, I can't get attached to the characters while playing and overall the hacking isn't impressive either. There's only so many times you can hack the traffic lights and watch the innocent drivers collide with each-other, the whole city is dumb including the random NPC's. NPC's speech is repetitive, no one talks like this in real life, it would have been better to make them not talk at all then to have them repeat the same phrases over and over. The story is boring and in no way makes you crave to play the game. I will say that the online stuff is fun especially racing but even that can be super laggy and cause problems. The game is a good time waster and can be fun here and there but I don't get excited playing it as I do with other free roam games..I would rate this 3/5 but it could have easily been a 5/5 if they would have spent the time more wisely and focused on making it more awesome. Owell at least we have GTA V! No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Great action. Start for a better future. This game really sets up for what's possible in the future, maybe Watch_Dogs 2. The driving is bad in this game as you can't drive well, the mechanics suck and also you can't shoot while you're driving. also, the boss missions are too easy and very bland. I would recommend this to a friend. Decent, but not what was advertised. After starting the game, my initial reaction was that of regret. It was not the stealth based game that was touted by UbiSoft, it was another open world sandbox game. After the shock of it not being what was expected wore off, the game got a little better. It is basically a GTA clone with the gimmick of being able to hack things. Missions are like those found in the Far Crys, Assassin's Creeds, or GTAs where you can run in guns blazing or try a more stealthy approach. Nothing really new is brought to the table, but if you go into knowing that, it can still be enjoyable. I would recommend this to a friend. great game. it's very addictive and not a game you can beat so easy. You'll have weeks of fun. Blocked IP Address.
