Xbox One to finally get a Sky TV app.

UPDATE 8/12/15 13.20am Sky is finally available on Xbox One today (thanks, Xbox One UK).
There doesn't seem to be a link on the Xbox Store, but you can find the app now via the console's own marketplace./p>
The app gives access to live channels and on demand content, including box sets.
You'll need a Sky Go Extra subscription (Ј5.99 a month) to access the service, or Sky Multiscreen customers get it for free. There's currently a two month free trial for Xbox owners who already have Sky TV - just sign up at sky.com/xbox.
UPDATE 6/11/15 9.05am Xbox One will soon get a Sky TV app, Microsoft has said.
UK Xbox marketing chief Harvey Eagle told Eurogamer the app is in development now for Xbox One and "coming soon". He couldn't commit to a release date.
The Xbox 360's Sky TV app proved popular, so its omission from the Xbox One raised eyebrows. It left those who wished to watch Sky on their new console with the option of streaming with the Now TV app, or running their Sky box through their Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 has had a Sky TV app since December 2014.
On PS4, the Sky TV app requires a Ј5 Sky Go Extra subscription (this is on top of your existing Sky subscription). For that you get access to live channels, catch-up telly and the Sky Store. The Sky TV app will no doubt work similarly on Xbox One.
Meanwhile, Eagle reiterated that Cortana functionality (Microsoft's digital assistant) will be released to Xbox One preview members later in 2015, but won't be released to everyone else until 2016. This despite Cortana's availability on Windows 10 devices, and a Windows 10-flavoured update set to hit Xbox One very soon.

TV from Sky is finally on the Xbox One.
Update: Microsoft has announced that the TV from Sky app is now available for the Xbox One, giving Sky Go Extra and Sky Multiscreen subscribers access to Sky's live and on-demand content.
Even better, Xbox One owners will get a free two-month trial - just in time for a movie-filled Christmas.
Sky customers will have over 1,000 films to choose from, as well as boxsets, live TV, and, for those with a sports subscription, access to loads of live sport.
Xbox One owners in the UK can go and grab the app right now.

Right now, if you want to watch Sky TV on your Xbox One you can either stream some of the content through the Now TV app or switch completely to your Sky box (assuming you have one) – but that's soon to change.
Microsoft has confirmed to us that a Sky TV app is coming to the Xbox One. It's been available on the PS4 since December 2014, but has been missing from the Xbox One lineup since the console's launch almost two years ago.
"Sky TV is in development and is coming soon to Xbox One," said Harvey Eagle, Xbox UK Marketing Director, although he wouldn't commit to a release date when we asked.
The Sky TV app proved very popular on the Xbox 360, so a lot of people were understandably miffed when it wasn't announced for the next-gen Microsoft console.
The PS4 app requires a Sky Go Extra subscription, which costs an extra £5 on top of your existing Sky subscription, and gives you access to all the live channels, catch-up TV and the Sky Store, so we expect it will be the same deal on the Xbox One.

Sky TV App Available Now For Xbox One in UK.

The Sky Go app is now available to download on Xbox One in the UK.
Sky Go allows active subscribers to watch live sport such as Formula 1 and Premier League football, as well as on-demand movies and TV. The app, formerly known as Sky Player, was first released exclusively on Xbox 360.
In the latest console generation, however, it launched first on Sony's PlayStation 4. The broadcaster refused to specify when the application would be available on Microsoft's console, but it has been given a surprise launch.
To download the application you need to access the store, go to apps, and either search for Sky, or find "TV from Sky" in the new releases section. An account login will be required to access the content.
In May 2014, Sky announced it would bring Now TV and Sky Go apps to the PlayStation 4. Former Sony Computer Entertainment UK boss Fergal Gara said "Now TV has been a great addition to the PlayStation 3 entertainment portfolio, so bringing it to the new PS4 is going to delight all users of the newest, most powerful member of the PlayStation family."
He added: "Sky Go joining both PlayStation platforms further enhances our credentials as the ultimate gaming and entertainment package."
Given the popularity of Sky in the UK, the addition of Sky Go strengthens the Xbox One as an entertainment device, providing more content variety alongside Netflix and Amazon's services, as well as Microsoft's own Xbox video offerings.

On your console, sign in with your Xbox Live-enabled gamertag. Go to apps and select Browse Apps or Search Apps . Browse or search for Sky . Select the Sky app, and then select Download and then Confirm Purchase to download and install the app.
To start Sky later, go to apps , My Apps and then Sky .

Until you sign in to the Sky app, you see the following options each time you launch it: Sign in : After you sign in using your Sky iD, you will not be prompted to do so again unless you deactivate the console from your account. Have a look around : You can browse the content offered within the app without signing in. However, you have to sign in to view any content.
Select Got a Sky iD? Sign in . Use your Sky iD credentials to sign in.
From the TV Guide hub, you can select a channel to watch and view live TV.
You can use the Sky app to watch a variety of sports, films and entertainment channels from Sky, dependent on your subscription. Whilst watching live TV, press A to see Now and Next information for the current channel and press Y to see information about the programme that is currently on. Press B to close this information. Use the directional pad or the left thumbstick to see what is on the other channels, and then press A to change to that channel. You can also change channels by pressing the left bumper (LB) and right bumper (RB). For most channels, picture quality changes automatically, depending on the speed of your broadband connection. For some channels, you can still set your preferred picture quality by going to Settings and choosing one of the following options: Low (600Kbps) Medium (1.2Mbps) High (1.8Mbps)
Note For best results, you will need an effective broadband speed of 2 Mbps.
From the On Demand hub, you can use Sky on Xbox to watch a variety of TV programmes and films on demand. The content is divided into three sections:
Catch Up has the latest sports shows and series form the Sky channels that you subscribe to.
TV Box Sets has older series and programmes, as well as content from other channels.
Sky Movies has films from the Sky Movies channels.
From the Search hub, you can search for content based on title.
Select something to watch, and then select Play .
Note If you set a PIN (personal identification number) on the Sky website, you might be prompted to enter the PIN when launching certain channels or on-demand content.
Change the Xbox 360 console on which you watch Sky TV.
To watch Sky on a different Xbox 360 console, you must first remove the old console from the list of registered devices on the Sky website, then select Sky from the TV & Films channel on the new console. Here's how:
In a web browser, go to xbox.skyplayer.com/help and sign in using your Sky ID. Select Settings . Select Manage Devices . Select Remove Device next to the Xbox 360 console that you want to remove. On your console, go to apps , select My Video Apps and then select Sky . Download the Sky application. This automatically associates the new console with your Sky Go account.
You can register up to two device on a single account. You can change one device per month. Only one of these devices can be an Xbox 360 console. For an additional charge, you can register up to four devices by purchasing the Sky Go Extra. However, you will still only be able to register one Xbox 360 console at a time. Your Sky Go account is associated with your physical Xbox 360 console, not with your Xbox Live profile. You watch Sky on your selected Xbox 360 console when you are signed in with any Xbox Live account.
Parental controls.
Sky Go uses its own parental control settings. You edit these on the Sky Go website.
If the Xbox 360 console safety setting is set to block access to Xbox Live, then the console prompts you for the Xbox console pass code as soon as you launch the Sky application.
Set up live TV with your Xbox One X, Xbox One S, or original Xbox One console.
This page describes the requirements for using OneGuide on Xbox One X, Xbox One S, or the original Xbox One, so you can access TV service from your console. It also describes how to configure your Xbox One X, Xbox One S, or original Xbox One console to control your TV, audio receiver, and set-top box.
The first time you launch the TV app, the console will walk you through the steps described below. If you want to set up live TV later, you can select Live TV Setup from the Entertainment hub. Or, if you want to change any of your hardware settings after initial setup, you can do so by selecting TV & OneGuide from System > Settings .
Note Channel information in OneGuide is not available in all regions. You can still use HDMI pass-through to view TV content through Xbox One, but OneGuide will not show your TV listings. For a list of Xbox One features and the regions where they're available, see Xbox One Feature Availability.

To use OneGuide with your TV and Xbox One, you need the following:
A cable or satellite set-top box with HDMI output, or an Xbox One USB TV Tuner. A connection to Xbox Live to download channel lineup information for OneGuide. A Kinect sensor or an IR emitter cable.
Before setting up OneGuide, confirm that your console is correctly connected to your home theater system and is ready for live TV.
Select Live TV Setup from the Entertainment hub. You'll be asked a series of questions in order to complete your TV setup. On the Watch TV on your Xbox screen, select either Set up your cable or satellite box or Set up your USB TV tuner . This depends on the source of your TV signal.
The Let’s watch TV screen will try to detect an HDMI-in signal. If the source of your HDMI signal shows up on the picture of the TV screen, select Next to continue and skip to step 5. If the source of your HDMI signal doesn’t appear, go on to step 4.
If you don’t see the source of your HDMI signal displayed on the picture of the TV screen, you’ll have to verify that your console is receiving a signal from your set-top box:
Confirm that your set-top box is connected by HDMI cable to the HDMI port on your console. If, after a few seconds, you don't get live TV on your Xbox screen, see You see a black screen or experience poor video quality when watching TV with Xbox One. Once live TV appears, select Next . On the Let’s set up OneGuide screen, select Next to begin the setup of your cable or satellite TV provider’s channel guide. Follow the steps below to help your console learn how to control your cable or satellite set-top box.
Enter your postal code and select Next to find TV providers in your area. From the dropdown menu, select your cable or satellite TV provider.
You can configure all of the devices in your home theater system to respond to " Hey Cortana, Xbox on " and other voice commands by enabling your Xbox One console to control your TV when prompted.
Note Voice commands are not available in all regions. For details, see Xbox One Feature Availability.
On the Pick your start setting screen, you’ll be asked to decide which screen your console will start from when first turned on. Select one of the two options, and then select Next to continue:
On start, go to Home. This option will display Home when you first power on your console. On start, go to TV. This option will display live TV when you first power on your console.
If your TV provider isn't listed, it might not be compatible with OneGuide at this time. Channel lineup and specific show information are currently not available in all regions. For more information about finding your TV provider, see our TV Hardware Information forums.
It's easy to make changes to your configuration after you've set it up. Here's how:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide. Select System > Settings . Select TV & OneGuide . Update the settings that you want to change.
To watch TV with OneGuide, say " Hey Cortana, watch TV ," or select Live TV from the Entertainment hub.
