Introducing the Gears of War 4 Limited Edition 2TB Bundle, the First Custom Xbox One S. Last month at E3, we unveiled new additions to our Xbox One family of devices, including the highly-anticipated Xbox One S, the smallest and most compact Xbox yet, starting at $299. Xbox One S features a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player and High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for video and gaming to deliver richer, more luminous colors in games like Gears of War 4. We also announced a host of Xbox Live features and updates that will unite gamers across devices, alongside our biggest lineup of games on Xbox One and Windows 10. We’re building a future beyond console generations, letting fans play without boundaries to provide more choice than ever before on where and how they play. To deliver on that promise, we unveiled new accessories like the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller – Gears of War 4 Limited Edition, and were grateful for the amazing reaction from our fans. Today, we’re excited to expand our collection of hardware and accessories even further by introducing the Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Limited Edition 2TB Bundle : the first-ever custom-designed Xbox One S bundle, revealed earlier via Mashable and available for pre-order today. Continuing the collaboration between The Coalition, the studio developing Gears of War 4 , and the Xbox design team, we were inspired by the idea of creating something that looks as if it were lifted right out of the game: a console that bears the battle marks of surviving a desperate fight against Gears of War 4’s ferocious new enemies – the Swarm. Advances in technology and manufacturing techniques really let us free up our imaginations. From the laser-etched scratches, to the bloody thumbprint on the controller’s red metallic D-pad and the iconic Crimson Omen, we looked closely at what we could do with every piece of hardware. We’re always looking for ways to provide value to our customers, which is why the Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Limited Edition 2TB Bundle will be the ultimate Gears bundle, including the following: Gritty, battle-weathered custom Xbox One S console with a massive 2TB hard drive All-new Xbox Wireless Controller – Gears of War 4 Crimson Omen Limited Edition, featuring a textured grip for enhanced comfort; our most reliable wireless signal ever, with up to two times the wireless range compared to previous controllers when used with Xbox One S; and Bluetooth radio, giving you an easy wireless connection to your Windows 10 PCs and tablets 4K Ultra HD video and Blu-ray player, custom system sounds, and a vertical stand High Dynamic Range support for video and games Full game download of Gears of War 4: Ultimate Edition for both Xbox One and Windows 10 (featuring cross-play support in all co-op modes) – a $99 value Early access to the game on Oct. 7 Gears of War 4 Season Pass, featuring the exclusive Vintage VIP Pack, permanent access to future multiplayer maps for private games, six additional Gear Packs including the Vintage JD Gear Pack, early previews to upcoming modes, and much more. Gears of War 4. A new saga begins for one of the most acclaimed video game franchises in history. JD Fenix and his friends, Kait and Del, must rescue the ones they love and discover the source of a monstrous new enemy. Review | Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Xbox One S. The Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Xbox One S is an attractive custom console design in celebration of one of the biggest games of the year. Gears of War 4 is arguably Microsoft’s biggest game of the year, with the company hoping that it will kick start a brand new chapter for their second most popular first-party franchise, following the arrival of new developers The Coalition. To mark its release a brand new limited edition, 2TB version of the Xbox One S has been created, bearing the familiar Gears of War logo, a crimson red console and a matching controller. But if you’re interested in owning a 4K-ready console, then should you spend the extra cash to get your hands on one of these? The bundle includes the limited edition Xbox One S console, a controller, a vertical stand and a digital copy of Gears of War 4. Limited edition consoles are notoriously hit-and-miss when it comes to their designs. A prime example of this would be the Gears of War 3 Limited Edition Xbox 360, which was a grotesque abomination. Splattered in red and black, the console looked as though a toddler had accidentally knocked a paint bucket on top of it, somehow making the already flimsy appearance of the Xbox 360 look even more cheap in the process. Fortunately, the Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Xbox One S boasts a much more subtle design, with it still featuring relatively the same color scheme albeit with much more subdued tones. The Gears of War 3 Xbox 360 in all of its horrifically ugly glory. The “battle-weathered” red of the console is far less eye-watering that the luminous red of the Xbox 360 design, with a faded Gears logo featured on its grill. Claw marks line the left-hand side of the console, which is intended to represent Gears of War 4’s new enemies, The Swarm. The mysterious Phoenix Omen is also located on the underside of the console, meaning it is only visible if you have your console standing vertically. A stand is included in the bundle if you wish to do so. Unique to this limited edition version of the console are custom sounds that play when you turn it on and off. Unlike the Xbox One, the Xbox One S requires you to press a button in order to power it up, with two ominous, short music clips playing when you do so. In terms of its shape, the limited edition Xbox One S is exactly the same as the standard version of the console, with it being lighter and smaller than the vanilla Xbox One. Its controller is also less bulky, making it more comfortable to hold and slightly less heavy as a result. The controller has received a visual makeover, too, with it boasting a lovely, shiny red D-Pad, and the same red and black aesthetic as the console. A limited edition Gears of War 4 Elite controller is also available to purchase, though it’s the standard controller that is bundled with the GoW4 console. Though I’m of the opinion that the bar hasn’t been set overwhelmingly high for limited edition console designs (the latest custom Forza Horizon 3 is testament to this, which actually takes the shape of the front of an Audi R8), this Gears of War 4 design is one of the best I’ve seen, and certainly the best-looking Xbox One limited edition console thus far. While the Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Xbox One S is a handsome machine, there are still question marks lingering over whether or not the Xbox One S is worth investing in as a 4K-ready console. While the Xbox One S isn’t capable of native 4K gameplay it can upscale to the resolution from 1080p, though its predominant advantage is in its utilization of high-dynamic-range. To put it simply, HDR makes images appear brighter and more vivid along with increasing their contrast, making for a richer visual experience. The Xbox One S supports a specific type of HDR called HDR10, meaning that although it will still look better than the standard Xbox One on your TV if it isn’t capable of HDR10, you won’t be experiencing the console’s maximum capabilities. HDR10-capable TVs don’t necessarily support 4K, though owning a 4K TV is preferable given that the Xbox One S also boasts a UHD Blu-ray player, which makes it the most affordable 4K-ready Blu-ray player currently available. The console is also capable of streaming in 4K, meaning that if you have a subscription to services such as Netflix that are capable of doing so, you’ll be able to watch streaming video in the resolution. While the 4K Blu-ray player will make the Xbox One S an appealing purchase in and of itself, the lack of current Xbox One games that support HDR makes it a less inveigling product. At the time of this writing, only seven Xbox One games support HDR: Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Battlefield 1, NBA 2K17, Resident Evil 7, Scalebound and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided . Of these games, two aren’t set release until next year, with RE7 landing in January and Scalebound lacking a confirmed launch date. This means that there won’t be many titles to experience in HDR, even if you own the TV necessary to do so. For games released earlier in the Xbox One’s life cycle, Microsoft has confirmed that they have granted developers access to the processing power necessary for them to do so, with the company leaving it up to them to decide whether or not they wish to introduce retroactive HDR support. But when playing the games that currently support it, the visual upgrade makes an impact. Though it’s not exactly a huge leap forwards, the advantage the Xbox One S gives to its games could most accurately be compared with applying a nice filter on top of a photograph – it doesn’t change the initial image, but rather it enhances all of its best bits in order to make it look a lot easier on the eye. Colors are less washed out than they appear on the standard Xbox One, while visual effects such as lighting are much more vibrant and impressive. It might not be capable of running games in a native 4K resolution, but it makes them look good nonetheless. Should You Buy It? If you’re a sucker for limited edition consoles, then the Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Xbox One S is one of the best-looking systems you’ll find. Bundled with a digital copy of the game and selling for only $50 more than the standard 2TB edition of the console, this would therefore seem like a no-brainer for Gears of War fans who were already in the market for both an Xbox One S and the game. For those still on the fence about purchasing an Xbox One S in general, then two factors need to be taken into account; firstly, whether or not you have a TV capable of a 4K resolution and HDR10, and secondly if you’re more interested in waiting a year to plump down the cash for the Xbox One Scorpio, which Microsoft is billing as the world’s first truly 4K-ready console. If you don’t own a 4K/HDR10 TV, then it’s unlikely that the Xbox One S will do anything for you. Though it may make some of your games look slightly better, you won’t be taking advantage of the console’s capabilities in any meaningful capacity, and as such it likely won’t be worth its asking price. However, if you do then it’s a worthy upgrade for the native 4K Blu-ray player and video streaming alone, with its HDR gaming a nice extra bonus that is sure to have a more robust line-up of titles that support it in the coming months. If you fall into the latter camp, then it may be worth holding off until the Xbox One Scorpio if you’ve got your heart set on 4K console gaming. Though details are very light on the ground, the Xbox One S doesn’t offer a true 4K experience and, while it’s very reasonably priced, could therefore prove to be quite off-putting for some. Personally, I’m a big fan of the design of the Gears of War 4 Xbox One S, and its function as both an inexpensive UHD Blu-ray player and a HDR gaming system makes it a very attractive purchase. If you have the TV necessary to make the most of it and are partial to a bit of Gears of War , then you should strongly consider purchasing this limited edition console.

Microsoft has released the Xbox One S Gears of War 4 limited edition console, and I think it's the most impressive game console release to date from a design perspective. I give you a look at the custom red Xbox One S with Gears of War 4 design elements in this episode. As you can see, aside from the battle worn look, you have the deep laser etching for the claw marks on both the Xbox One S console itself, as well as the included Gears of War 4 controller. Microsoft did a fantastic job! |Download| - Apple TV High Resolution. (640 x 360 pixels) (854 x 480 pixels) Microsoft announced the Xbox One S back at E3 this past June, just three years after the release of the original Xbox One. It’s a revised version of the original Xbox One hardware that features a streamlined form factor. If you missed it, I’ll leave a link to my video showing you everything about the new Xbox One S in the description below. The Xbox One S was released two months ago, and now the company has released the first special version of the console in the Gears of War 4 edition, as indicated by the awesome Gears of War 4 box art. Since it’s an Xbox One S, you get all the same features that you’ll find on the regular model - those being the internal power supply, HDR gaming, 4K HDR streaming, 4K HDR Blu-ray, and 4K upscaling of games. And speaking of HDR gaming, Gears of War 4 is one of the few titles to currently support this feature, and it looks fantastic on an HDR-capable television. Opening up the console, inside the box we’ll find a visual guide to help us get all set up, colored in Gears of War red, as well as a 14-day free Xbox Live trial code, and the redemption code for Gears of War 4 Ultimate Edition. Next up, this crimson piece of plastic is the vertical stand. The original Xbox One could only officially be set up horizontally, but the Xbox One S allows for vertical placement as long as you have this piece. It comes included with the 2TB model, which this special edition console is. This next little box includes the power cable, which plugs right into the back of the Xbox One S - again, no huge power brick needed. There’s also a high-speed HDMI cable, which supports the 4K UHD standard as well as HDR, so you’ll want to use this cable when setting up the Xbox One S - especially if you have a television capable of 4K UHD with HDR, just to be safe. You’ll also find a pair of AA batteries, and the custom Gears of War 4 Swarm-themed Xbox One controller. This is the redesigned Xbox One controller, but it’s been given an amazing makeover as you can see. It’s crimson and maroon red, with a metallic red d-pad with thumbprint on it, and the ABXY buttons are a scratched in font. Behind the button are teh laser etched claw marks, and these are the real deal. It’s deep engraving, not just paint, and it makes this controller stand out and look super unique. The controller can also connect to a Windows PC directly over Bluetooth, allowing for better range and communication, and easier pairing with mobile devices as well. Speaking of which, the digital copy of the GEars of War 4 game that’s included here also allows you to play it on Windows 10 PCs. On the back of the controller you see the Phoenix Omen along with a subtle ridged design, which adds a bit more grip to the controller. And that brings us to the star of the show, the Xbox One S console itself. Just taking it out of the box for the first time is shocking - just look at the design on this thing. It’s got a crimson red paint job, with the crimson skull omen on the top right, and on the left side on the top and front, you’ve got even more of those laser engraved claw marks. Crimson blood red up top, with maroon on the bottom of the console, and a bunch of that war torn look added as well. On the front you’ll find the Blu-ray slot, which now supports 4K UHD Blu-ray discs as well. So if you’ve got a 4K TV, this is an inexpensive way to get into 4K Blu-ray when compared to the standalone players. On back you’ve got the AC port, HDMI in and HDMI out, two USB pors, IR port, optical audio out, and an Ethernet port as well. I’ve said before that I think the Xbox One S is is the best looking and most well-designed game console out there right now, but as a Gears fan and someone who loves collectables, this might be my favorite Xbox design of all time - drop a like on this video if you agree. I’d love to know what you think . Hit me in the comments and let me know. Are you a Gears of War fan? Do you prefer the clean look of the white Xbox One S without all the distressed art work? The nostalgia from this remake is amazing and really brought back the good times I had with this game on 360. Playing with your friends or by yourself, you are bound to have a good time. If you're looking for something to hold you over until GOW 4 this is a great game to add to your library. Keep wall bouncing and keep those active reloads on deck. 120 out of 130 people found this helpful. Great JOB MAKING A GREAT GAME BETTER. IF U LIKE THE GOW. Where it all Started. Gears UE is what fans wern't expecting but very glad it came out, smoothened out multiplayer with amazing updated graphics ..great game especially for the price. If you like or love gears then its a must buy. 77 out of 88 people found this helpful. what a game. its been a really long time since i played the original 360 version of this game but i must say i dont recall it being so good. i do remember the older one being clunky whereas this version is smooth. the cog tags are easier to see than on any other gears game. i liked the original but loved this version. the mp has always sucked but i only play gears for the story. one minor complaint is that when playing solo campaign if dom goes down u can revive him but if u go down u die. but otherwise nicely done. 40 out of 44 people found this helpful. Truly a classic. Gears of war ultimate edition is an excellent remake of one of the most iconic games of all time. I greatly enjoyed revisiting this timeless classic. I look forward to the future 10 year anniversary remakes to come. 29 out of 32 people found this helpful. I found myself astonished when I first heard there was a remke being made. I played the co-op with my brother, and it felt like reliving the good old days of playing the original. There are a lot of other things I like that respect the original. 76 out of 91 people found this helpful. the best remake ive ever played. to those who think this a remaster imo opinion is wrong, if they use a new game engine designed to be on next generation, redoing all the cutscenes, it is a remake, a remaster it just a game that that has the same engine just update to support hd, halo 3 & 4 comes mind, and different genre, final fantasy X/X2, and XII tza, and please don't compare two different genres, that aside this still imo one of the best games ive ever played and i recommend to all gears of war fans . 31 out of 36 people found this helpful. brings back so many good memories. 27 out of 33 people found this helpful. MY NEW FAVORITE GAME FRANCHISE. Gears of war is an amazing game the graphics are good, characters are enjoyable and the story is to, not a big fan of multiplayer but this is just what I think about it. 34 out of 44 people found this helpful. AWESOME! but. this game is great the grapics are exelent the gameplay is sweet. But the only thing that sucks is you don't get access to the other games unless you played it online the first day it came out now i just got this game and beat it but come to figure out that I paid 💰 25 for what just a remaster of the first one and the access to gow4 beta wow should have got the hole 360 complete edition pack for $15 and played it on the one but if you try to purchase the digital GOW on the one you have to pay $20 for each one of the games not worth it. 101 out of 148 people found this helpful. Microsoft has a special Xbox One S bundle coming to celebrate the launch of Gears of War 4. The Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Xbox One S bundle has been leaked ahead of its official reveal. The leak comes from NeoGAF user ekim, who is known to be quite credible with his leaks in the past. The bundle features an all-red console and Xbox One controller, both of which have the Gears of War Crimson Omen slapped onto it in addition to what appears to be blood splatter and dirt. We have a feeling this bundle has seen some stuff. Some terrible, terrible stuff. The Ultimate Edition bundle comes with everything in the Limited Edition bundle, as well as a digital code for Gears of War 4, which will support Microsoft’s Play Anywhere feature. This means you'll be able to play Gears of War 4 on both Xbox One and PC, that is, if you own a PC that's powerful enough to run the game. If you do, then you'll be happy to know cross-platform play will be supported. Pricing for the Limited Edition is still unknown, but it’s believed the Ultimate Edition will be priced at $449. We've reached out to Microsoft for comment and will update our story accordingly. Daniel Perez. Daniel has worked across a variety of online publications that include 1UP, Ubergizmo and FileFront.
