The listing for Kingdom Hearts 3 has disappeared from the Xbox Japan website, causing speculation that the upcoming RPG will now be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Ever since Kingdom Hearts 3 was officially announced at for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at E3 2013, fans everywhere have been patiently waiting for the long-gestating game to finally come out. While not much news in the way of release dates, story lines, or gameplay footage have been released since the game’s announcement, confirmation of the title’s multi-console availability has recently been subject to speculation due to the Kingdom Hearts 3 listing – or lack thereof – on the Xbox Japan website. When searching for the Kingdom Hearts 3 listing on the Xbox Japan website, gamers will find that the page has disappeared, fueling speculation that the long-awaited title may not coming to the Xbox One and will in fact be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. However, all this speculation should be taken with a big grain of salt as when one looks up the game on the official Square Enix website, it is still listed as being available for Xbox One. In addition to the Square Enix website, the Microsoft Store is still allowing players to pre-order Kingdom Hearts 3 , further debunking the PlayStation 4 exclusivity rumor. At the time of writing, Square Enix have yet to comment on this rumor. Of course, the lack of an Xbox One listing could simply be the result of a technical glitch, but having said that, Xbox One owners shouldn’t be too surprised should the rumors surrounding Kingdom Hearts 3 ‘s PlayStation 4 exclusivity turn out to be true. All previous Kingdom Hearts titles have never made the leap to Xbox, including the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue . As for what we do know about Kingdom Hearts 3 , Square Enix has confirmed that the upcoming RPG will not contain any worlds from the Final Fantasy series, and director Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that the game will finally conclude the “Dark Seeker” storyline. Given that the game appears to be far from release, far-fetched rumors will continue to surround the title, such as the possibility of a PlayStation 3 release. Until Square Enix confirms or denies this PlayStation 4 exclusivity rumor – or any rumor for that matter – all Kingdom Heart 3 speculation should be taken with a grain of salt. Kingdom Hearts 3 is currently without an official release date, but it is expected to launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. 'Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix' And '1.5 Remix' May Come To Xbox One And PS4, Says Series Co-Director. 'Kingdom Hearts 2.5' could arrive on the PS4 and Xbox One. Photo: Courtesy/Square Enix. “Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix” and “Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix” may be coming to the eighth-generation PlayStation 4 console, according to series co-director Tai Yasue. "When we first came up with the idea for ‘Kingdom Hearts III,’ it was always 1.5, then 2.5 and we were always thinking about those three titles at the same time," Yasue told IGN Tuesday. "I think [putting the games on PS4] is something we’ll explore. We understand what our players want, so we will explore the possibility. I’m not making any announcements though. We can’t make any announcements yet!" “Kingdom Hearts 2.5,” which reached Sony’s PlayStation 3 on Tuesday in North America, is a remastered collection of the role-playing series “Kingdom Hearts,” which first launched in 2002. “Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix,” which includes remastered versions of “Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and “Re: Chain of Memories” reached the PlayStation 3 in 2013. There are currently seven “Kingdom Hearts” games in the critically acclaimed series. “Kingdom Hearts 3” will be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2015 or 2016, but Yasue still isn’t sure if “2.5 Remix” and “1.5 Remix” will ever reach Microsoft’s Xbox One. "It’s a big old question," he says. "There’s a lot of things we need to think of when we consider consoles. One of them is what our players want, so we will definitely consider that. But there’s also schedule constraints, as we really don’t want the development of ‘Kingdom Hearts III’ going later, so we have that to think about. We’ll consider all these things and come to a decision." Do you want to see “Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix” and “1.5 Remix” on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4? Leave a comment below. Kingdom Hearts 3 Director Not Considering Switch Version Until After Xbox One, PS4 Versions Are Released. Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura says a Nintendo Switch version of Kingdom Hearts 3 or Xbox One versions of the Kingdom Hearts HD I.5 and II.5 ReMix or Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue collections could be possible in the future, but only after existing versions of Kingdom Hearts 3 are complete. Speaking to IGN at D23 Expo today, Nomura said he isn’t ruling out Kingdom Hearts 3 coming to Nintendo Switch eventually, but wants to fulfill the promise of the PS4 and Xbox One versions before the team focuses on additional platforms. “The Nintendo Switch is definitely a very interesting piece of hardware, but if we lightly say, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll be on the Nintendo Switch,’ I’m sure people will come back and say, ‘But what about the PS4 and Xbox One? We want them out first. Don’t focus on other platforms,’” Nomura told IGN. “So for now, we want to focus on what platforms we’ve already announced we’re going to be releasing Kingdom Hearts 3 on. And so after, perhaps, maybe we can start thinking about other possibilities.” Similarly, Nomura didn’t completely dismiss the possibility of HD collections on Xbox One, but noted that he isn’t sure demand exists outside of the West. “Just like with the previous answer, if we were to announce yet another non-Kingdom Hearts 3 [project]. people are going to be like, ‘Hey, what’s going on?’ So we will want to focus on releasing on the platforms that we have already announced,” he reiterated. "I am not however able to download any of them probably due to the fact I don't run any software and that Square has probably removed all of these files by now (though they are still searchable) I'm going to give the files that I have found and give my idea of what these worlds are as well as what other people think they are." Why Aren’t there Kingdom Hearts HD Remakes for Xbox? As another year begins, hopeful gamers of the long-running Kingdom Hearts series make a New Years Resolution not to obsess or be to hopeful for the latest installment of the series to release anytime soon. For Kingdom Hearts fans, however, that’s an impossible feat as even the slightest news on the subject will have our ears ringing. Still, with the release of Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Prologue Chapter coming sometime in 2016 for the PS4, the most important question remains. Kingdom Hearts has been seeing titles release on a multitude of platforms since its first non-numeric release of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for the GBA in 2004, two years after the first game’s release. As they continued on with creating more sequels and building the lore of the game’s world after the release of the second numeric installment in 2006, a pattern started to emerge that would continue until this very day. Kingdom Hearts fans have long complained about the platform jumps of all the games over the years constantly switching from a home console for the mainline series and then jumping back to handheld devices for all the in-between bits. Four out of the five games released on handheld devices were all released on Nintendo platforms with Birth by Sleep released on the PSP in 2010. This drums up the question of if the majority of all the games released for the series have been on Nintendo platforms, then why is the Xbox One getting the third numeric addition to the console? The even bigger question is if the Xbox One is getting the third main entry, then why didn’t the Xbox 360 see the HD remakes that the PS3 had seen to bridge the gap of all the scattered handheld titles throughout the years? “When we first came up with the idea for Kingdom Hearts III, it was always 1.5, then 2.5 and we were always thinking about those three titles at the same time I think [putting the games on PS4] is something we’ll explore. We understand what our player’s want, so we will explore the possibility. I’m not making any announcements though, we can’t make any announcements yet,” explained Tai Yasue who was later on asked about whether or not the titles would see an Xbox One release. “It’s a big old question, there’s a lot of things we need to think of when we consider consoles. One of them is what our player’s want, so we will definitely consider that. But there’s also a schedule constraint, as we really don’t want the development of Kingdom Hearts III going later, so we have that to think about. We’ll consider all these things and come to a decision.” It seems that from the little information available from credible sources that fans (and Xbox owners alike) have to grasp onto regarding a HD release outside of the PlayStation platform, it’s a safe bet that not only did the exclusivity deal with Sony have much to do with the HD release process, but so did the plan to release Kingdom Hearts III in a timely manner. Although this isn’t a complete death sentence for these titles to ever see the light of day on the Xbox One, seeing as it has not happened by now and Yasue’s comments were from a 2014 interview, it is safe to assume that Xbox ports of the first half of the on-going franchise won’t be happening before the release of Kingdom Hearts III. Post navigation. It’s weird that the Xbone will get KH3 but not the HD remasters. It makes no sense at all because this move will only help to hinder the sales of KH3 on that particular console, which from a business standpoint is idiotic at best if you really want to maximize the sales on every system. Exactly. I’ve been wondering this SINCE KH3’s announcement for Xbone back in 2013. It all boils down to programming and how the system architecture is set up for both consoles. PS3 I can’t recall what it was but I’m assuming it wasn’t something far off from PS2 architecture seeing that all of the rereleases were happening from PS2 to PS3. Now Xbox on the other hand was running an entirely different architecture (DirectX) and it’d be like trying to turn an apple into an orange where as from PS2 to PS3 I’m guessing it was more like turning an Apple into Apple Juice. If we recollect for a little bit, all of the assets from the PS2 games of KH were lost so they had to remake that entire game from scratch. If they wanted to put it on Xbox they would have had to remake it two times. In addition to the time factor there’s also the payout, will bring them over to Xbox be worth it? At the point in time the remasters came out most people had a PS3 and a 360. No point in trying to get that small margin that only owns a 360. Poor xbone. It can’t catch a break. In general, if you want Japanese games, don’t buy Xbox. Sad but true. I’m still hoping for Star Ocean and DQ on One. Just maaaaay be? DQ and Xbox will never happen. Well maybe DQ heroes……at some point? Good luck with that… Less likely than ever. If it were going to Xbox One, Builders and XI would have been announced as such, as opposed to PS4/Vita and PS4/3DS respectively. What? Are you poor or something? You can buy both. 1. Most people don’t ONLY play Japanese games. Not even Japanese people. 2. All it takes is developers putting Japanese games on it. Not that hard to do. We just gotta let them know what we want. 3. Xbox 360 (and even Original Xbox) had Japanese games. Awesome titles. 4. Most people I know only bought a PS4 because of the Japanese games. Had they promoted the same games for Xbox One, that wouldn’t be happening. It’s not that easy. Japanese folks are extremely patriotic, go see how Microsoft’s consoles sell there, they sell not even 1000 units per week. It’s not worth to make Japanese games for a console that simply doesn’t have that market. Microsoft even tried to aproach them, and us Europeans too, making Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, Last Renmant, they were awesome games I agree, but not the desired amount of people played them. Square Enix did some third-party JRPGs too, and you know what? They sold 5x times better on Playstation worldwide. Final Fantasy is a good example of that. Not to mention the exclusive JRPGs in Sony’s system. Atelier, Tales of, Ar Tonelico, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Ni No Kuni, Kingdom Hearts, Odin Sphere, Dragon’s Crown… Basically if you don’t want to read all that text above, making a JRPG for XBOX is like putting a fish out of water. it’d be stupid for them to release these collections on the xbox since xbox fans don’t like japanease games look at blue dragon, lost oddyssy sold awful. You can’t just say Xbox fans don’t like Japanese games, because I know I do and I’m an Xbox fan. I really hope they announce later that KH 2.8 will come to Xbox One or I’m gonna be pretty disappointed. yeah but look at all the 360 jrpg exclusives that didn’t sell. Doesn’t not mean that Kingdom Hearts would be the same … If a game is not good, it would not be sold on both consoles. There’s plenty of crap that’s on both consoles. lol, Lost Odyssey had a huge fan base and has alot of requests and high demand for a sequel and saying “xbox fans fdont like japanese games” is rather stupid, I do most my gaming on my xbox one and love jrpgs/japanese style games and always buy the multiplats on my xbox. Only every get them on ps4 if theyre exclusive. lol. Also, pretty sure SE said a while ago that they would consider releasing a collection on the xbox one post KH3 launch for fans on xbox. Cant find the article though, do some deep googling. They didn’t sell awful, they sold on-par with American-only released Jrpgs. Usually when a Japanese game is released, they count the total sales worldwide. Since the Xbox brand has virtually no existence/market in Japan, they couldn’t contribute to the overall sales. And Japan has always been the #1 consumets/market for Jrpg titles. It’s hardly a question. KH has never been on Xbox and Xbox players don’t want it on Xbox. Majority. Why would Xbox players not want it on the console? More games is always better. I jumped from Playstation 2 to Xbox One, so I’m glad KH3 is coming to the Xbox. I’m certainly not buying another console for 1 game. So why aren’t they buying those games on Xbox? Historically, games like Kingdom Hearts have done abysmally; I’m honestly surprised KHIII is going to be on XB1 to begin with for that very reason. We don’t buy it because we don’t have a good game like KH… ¬¬ Lost Odyssey says hello. So does Tales of Vesperia. So does virtually every other quality JRPG or Japanese-styled game on 360, with the singular exception of FF XIII. I don’t think examples of the past generation are valid, the profile of the players has changed a lot from XBox 360 to One. Of course, they’re valid. They’re the reason there are little to no current generation examples to draw on. Which was sorta the point. Ok, so they should not be valid, because “the profile of the players has changed a lot from XBox 360 to One.” And what, exactly, are you basing that on? Where is this outcry for the games that did poorly last gen by this “changed” profile of players? * Xbox Advantages on ps4 (they practically did not exist in the last generation) * Increased public on Xbox One. Yes, we want KH, if you do not have Xbox One, fight your own battle 🙂 Unfortunately, the “we” you speak of is a small number. And that’s the whole point. And what advantages do you speak of? What “increased public?” “Unfortunately, the “we” you speak of is a small number.” And what, exactly, are you basing that on? “And what advantages do you speak of?” I will not start a “consoles war” here and with a person like you. Will not search for numbers for you. Just fight your own battle man, if you are happy with your ps4, good for you, let me play kh games on my xbox one and everybody will be happy 😀 “And what, exactly, are you basing that on?” For one, the small number of people that own an XB1. For another, take a look at the sales of what few Japanese games are available on the console. Finally, it’s just a bit of common sense, but the majority of gamers who might have bought the XB1 expecting Japanese games would have moved to the Japanese console that’s got all the Japanese games. There’s just no sensible scenario where the number of gamers who prefer Japanese titles like Kingdom Hearts is significant on XB1. “I will not start a “consoles war” here and with a person like you” A person like me? lmao. I’m not asking for a console war. You claim there are advantages the XB1 has, and state it as if that would someone be a draw for Japanese games, or gamers that prefer them. If that’s the case, these advantages are important to the discussion at hand. It’s funny that you’re hiding behind “console wars” to avoid this. “Will not search for numbers for you” There are no numbers for you to search. The last official numbers are from two years ago, and at that point the XB1 was no longer trending ahead of the 360. Between that, and the aforementioned popularity of a console with a stronger presence of games closer to KH, there aren’t ANY reasons to think there’s a strong number of RPG fans on the XB1. If the demand isn’t there- and there’s so much more indicating that it is NOT than that it IS- then it wouldn’t make sense to go through the trouble of developing remakes for the console. I don’t have any battles to fight. It’s not even like I’m against the remasters(cuz they wouldn’t be remakes, anyway) being on XB1. There is, however, a lack of incentive for Square-Enix; it’s a shame you seem unable to recognize that. Actually those games sold on-par with American released Jrpgs. (Even if there were only about a dozen of them made/released for Xbox systems). Usually when a Japanese game is released, they count the total sales worldwide. Since the Xbox brand has virtually no existence/market in Japan, they couldn’t contribute to the overall sales. Which is comercially devastating, because Japan is (and has always been) the #1 consumers/market of Jrpg titles. How did they sell in comparison to KH games? This can’t possibly be a serious question, can it? I’d prefer the KH re-releases come to Vita. Offer them to a handheld audience, which as you pointed out, is home to the majority of games in the series. xbox is the nintendo for adolescent morons. And you are a hooker for the same target. and you are a sad little girl with nothing to play even your wii doesn’t like you loser. Ok tiny hater, now back to your masturbation and stop disturbing people. you disturbed me because you are adolescent moron without self control whose tiny feelings i hurt because your mummy coddled you like a bitch. tell me, does she still jack you off? “adolescent moron without self control” Take a time and look at your posts… After that, read my last post again and do it. does your mom even care? Boys, boys. Can’t we all just be KH fans? the first rule of internet is DIE! the 2nd rule of internet is DIE! the third rule of internet is DIE! I really don’t understand why everyone doesn’t want Kingdom Hearts games to come out on the Xbox One. Kingdom Hearts is my favorite game series of all time and it would be cool to be able to play 2.8 on the console I like, but it looks like I’ll just have to watch a playthrough of BBS Volume 2. That’s fine I guess, but I really hope they don’t decide to cancel KH3 for Xbox One.. that would really suck and who knows maybe later they will announce 2.8 on Xbox One. I would be so happy! My only problem is that I REALLY enjoy Halo, but I REALLY enjoy KH too! And up until now i used emulators and happened to own the handhelds, but now I won’t be able to play the game leading up to KH3 and miss part of the story! What do I do!? P.S. If you haven’t figured it out already, I don’t own a PS4. Cut that BS out. Wait, so is there a chance that we’ll be able to see KH (all of them) on Xbox after the release of KH3? I’m really confused.
