The new Overwatch hero Sombra is currently available to play on PC as part of the Overwatch PTR (Public Test Region). Fresh off the back of BlizzCon and all the Blizzard announcements, the company has surprised fans with news that Overwatch will be free to play for an entire weekend. The free weekend could coincide with the full launch of Sombra on PS4, Xbox One and PC, not to mention the new map and game mode. UK fans will be able to play Overwatch for free from 8pm on November 18 until the end of play on November 21. Xbox One users will need a Xbox Live Gold account to play, while PS4 users need a PS Plus account. "For this free weekend, we're making Overwatch's full roster of 22 heroes and 13 maps available for play in a variety of modes, including Quick Play, Custom Games, and the latest Weekly Brawl. "Players will also have the ability to level up, earn Loot Boxes, and unlock a variety of different customisation options." Sombra is one of the latest characters to be added to Overwatch. She is an infiltrator, that relies on speed and stealth to get the job done. Aside from damage, she can also hack enemies to disable their skills for a short period of time. For more on her skills, tactics and ways to take her out, keep reading down below! Sombra is an Offensive character. On a team, she would occupy a similar slot to that of Tracer. She is designed to deal high damage up close, while also debuffing the enemy team with her Hack ability. Once her ultimate is charged, she can leap in on a group of enemies, detonate her EMP, then translocate out to safety. She should not be expected to tank any sort of damage, and if caught out alone, she can die very quickly due to her limited health. She is very mobile thanks to her Camo and Translocate, but if stunned or disabled in any way, she will die in a heartbeat. EditAbilities. EditSombra Tips. EditTips for Playing Sombra. Sombra is a flanking type of character. Use her invisibility often to get behind a target then jump them by hacking them first and following it up with a slew of bullets. Invisibility does not mean invulnerability. Even while invisible you should not be running through hostile areas. The last thing you want is to die from a random bullet that wasn't even aimed at you. Sombra's machine pistol is very powerful, but falls off quickly at range. You need to be within a dozen feet of the enemy to truly maximize damage. In this regard, her damage output is very similar to that of Tracer. Hack is a very powerful skill, so you should be using it as frequently as possible. Even if you don't intend to engage the target, hack them anyways. This will force them to retreat, or put them at a severe disadvantage should they continue to apply pressure to your team. Hack also works on Torbjorn's turret, rendering it useless for several seconds. We really can't stress this enough when we say, Hack all the things! Her Translocator lasts for 15 seconds, making it ideal to drop just before you jump into a fight. Toss it near a medkit, then jump behind enemy lines and start hacking and shooting people. When the counter is about to run out, hit the Translocator button again to disappear to safety. Translocator can also be activated while it's still in the air. Toss it past an enemy, or above a crowd to get an interesting angle of attack and surprise your foes. Translocate is the only ability that can be used while Invisible. Toss it while you're running, then activate it to confuse your enemies, as you will disappear and reappear in to very different locations. Her ultimate, EMP, works best when her other skills are also available. Toss down your Translocator. Next, go invisible and run into the crowd of enemies. Detonate the EMP then hit Translocate to disappear before anyone can shoot you. Her EMP works best when your team is around to assist. It applies Hack to everyone it hits and removes all shields. Use this to weaken your enemies, then follow it up with another heavy hitting ultimate from the likes of Pharah or Reaper to decimate the enemy team. Sombra is a shield killer. If you're enemy team is relying heavily on shields, such as the one Reinhardt has, pick Sombra and detonate an EMP on top of him. This will hack him and render his shield useless for a short time. Always Hack the nearest healthkit! When it's picked up, it will respawn much faster than usual and a Hacked healthkit cannot be used by your enemies! EditTips for Killing Sombra. Mobility is the key to success for Sombra, so any skill that can slow her or stun her is vital to taking her down. McCree is a natural counter to her, but he will need to be fast on the draw with his Flashbang if he wants to avoid being hacked. Although a less direct counter, Widowmaker will also be valuable in taking out Sombra. Widowmaker's ultimate will reveal Sombra as she runs around the map, removing her biggest strength, her stealth. Characters with high base damage and low reliance on their skills are great for combating Sombra. Reaper for instance, doesn't need his skills in order to dish out tremendous damage and can easily combat Sombra should she try to get the jump on him. Sombra is designed to pick off lone targets, much in the same way Tracer does. The best counter to that is proper teamwork. Don't be alone, stick together and cover each other to ensure Sombra can't find a lone target to isolate and kill. EditStory. She comes with new Arena map Ecopoint: Antarctica, Arcade game types, and multiple buffs and nerfs. All you need to do to get the new features on PC is start the Battle.net launcher, which should then trigger the downloading of Patch 1.5. Sombra is a hacker who can disable characters' abilities and make health packs unusable for enemy players. She can teleport with the use of her Translocator, even when it's flying through the air. The Arcade menu, on the other hand, replaces Weekly Brawls and adds five new game types for players to try out. Sombra players may just need to be patient and mostly capitalize on openings and enemy team errors to stay effective in the fight. Sombra is extremely good at distracting the backline where most Snipers and Supports are, and prevent them from helping their team. Additionally, Sombra?s strength is in supporting her teammates through Hacks and her EMP ultimate . These skills don?t deal fatal damage but they do break barriers, completely drain shield health and lock enemies out of the abilities which renders them ineffective in battle. Countering her requires constant oversight of her position and being extra careful when moving alone or with low health.
