PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Xbox One release date: Here’s when full launch is planned. PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is coming to Xbox One and the full release date of the game has now been confirmed. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is NOT coming to PS4 but will instead remain an Xbox One exclusive. UPDATE : Having been announced as an exclusive console title for the Xbox One in 2017, here's the latest from developer Bluehole Inc. on the possibility of other platform launches in the future. “We're excited to announce that PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is coming to Xbox One. We're always looking at various platforms to potentially introduce our game, but have nothing further to announce at this time.” This would suggest that a Battlegrounds launch on PS4 is still very much a possibility, meaning it would only be an Xbox One exclusive launch for this year. ORIGINAL : The new title that’s been taking the PC platform by storm was announced by Microsoft for console during the E3 2017 Xbox briefing. We also found out that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is NOT coming to PS4 but will instead remain an Xbox One exclusive. The Battle Royale title has already sold more than three million copies since its Early Access release on March 23, 2017 and is currently the third most played game on Steam. The peak concurrent users (simultaneous active players) can top 200,000 and hits the number one most-watched game on Twitch multiple times a week. And Developers Bluehole have now confirmed that the popular PC title will launch exclusively on Xbox One’s Game Preview Program later this year. Player Unknown's Battlegrounds screenshot gallery. PLAYER Unknown's Battlegrounds is a massively multiplayer survival game in which players compete to be the last person standing. Player Unknown's Battlegrounds [BLUEHOLE] But while that will prove to be the first build of the game, the full Battlegrounds release on consoles will not be ready until 2018, for Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X. The Preview Program will make it possible for the development team to create a working version of the game quicker, using the constant fan feedback as a way to tune the game. “Microsoft’s Game Preview program allows us to get feedback directly from players, something that has been crucial to our success on Steam Early Access,” stated Chang Han Kim, VP and Executive Producer at Bluehole, Inc. “Furthermore, Xbox Live’s solid multiplayer capabilities will enable us to deliver the most complete Battle Royale experience to players worldwide.” Battlegrounds challenges players to eliminate their opponents on a realistic 8 x 8 km island, with visuals powered by Unreal Engine 4. E3 2017: Playerunknown's Battlegrounds On Xbox One Coming This Year. Console players are getting the Hunger Games-like shooter this year. Last updated by Eddie Makuch on June 11, 2017 at 3:59PM. Hunger Games-like shooter Playerunknown's Battlegrounds is coming to consoles this year. Microsoft announced during its E3 briefing today that the popular shooter is coming to Xbox One as a "console launch exclusive" in late 2017. That wording suggests it may also come to to PlayStation 4, though not until later, apparently. Those playing on Xbox One X will be able to enjoy 4K and HDR support. Playerunknown himself, Brendan Greene, appeared on stage to make the announcement about Battlegrounds' console release. He also revealed that the game has reached 3 million players on PC, where it remains in Early Access. Microsoft's E3 2017 briefing has ended. If you missed it or want to catch up with all the news, you can check out this roundup of all the major announcements. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One has performance issues. Microsoft and developer The PUBG Corporation are making good on a promise to launch the battle-royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One before the end of the year. The last-person-standing competitive game launches tomorrow into the Game Preview program for unfinished products on the Xbox Store for $30. I just spent a few hours with it, and I think that the intense, frightening encounters have survived the adaptation. That’s going to make for an excellent console experience … once The PUBG Corp is able to do something about the framerate. I’ve spent more than 400 hours with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on the PC. So I bring a lot of baggage with me to the first console release, but I repeatedly found that this version has a adapted the complex controls for a gamepad in a clever way. One of the big things here is that most buttons have multiple functions depending on if you tap or do a long press. For example, if you tap the right bumper, you’ll toggle between first and third person. If you hold the same right bumper, you’ll have the option to look all around you while continuing to run in a different direction. Or on the D-pad, you can press down to cycle through your health items, but you can hold down to use them. The developers have crammed so many functions into the gamepad that you would expect to feel overwhelmed. That isn’t my experience. After only a handful of matches, everything started to feel intuitive. I’m already at a point where I hope that other developers borrow some of these ideas for their controller configurations. I still don’t know how to do some things in PUBG on Xbox One, but I’m confident that The PUBG Corp has managed to get almost everything into the game. And that means that this is the complete experience. I had a moment where I heard someone nearby, was able to spot them running through a house, and realized that they were coming for me. It was horrifying and exhilarating. I fired a weapon and got a few shots in before my opponent retreated back behind the house. I quickly switched to my revolver, chased them down, and took them out with a bullet to the torso. So, yeah, this is still PUBG. But it is also PUBG in terms of its optimization and performance. The PUBG Corp has said that the game runs at 30 frames per second on Xbox One and Xbox One X … but it seems like it runs well below that a lot of the time. In my video above, you can see the choppiness. And that makes for a significantly worse experience than a PC … well, than a PC that can run PUBG at 60 frames per second or higher. This affects gameplay. The stutter makes it difficult to aim, and it can make it unclear how fast you’re traveling in a vehicle. I’ve also found that characters are difficult to control when you’re getting around 20 frames per second. I’ll walk by a door, and my character will get stuck on the wall because the stepping animation carried me just a tiny bit further than I realized. It’s frustrating. At the same time, PUBG on Xbox One hasn’t even launched yet. It’ll launch at 9 p.m. Pacific tonight, and when it does, you can only get it from the Game Preview program. That means that it isn’t finished yet, and I would take that as a warning. PUBG needs a lot more time in the oven on Microsoft’s console — even the more powerful Xbox One X struggles to get a solid 30 frames per second. So bare that in mind before rushing out to buy it tonight. This game is going to end up running a lot better on the Xbox One platform, but that’s going to take time. And if you buy it now, you are absolutely paying to help them test a beta. Of course, I say that, but I had a hard time stopping to write this, so if you ignore my warning, you’ll probably end up having a great time anyway. That’s especially true if you have never touched the PC version and Fortnite is a bit too simple for you. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One Update Nerfs Vehicles. Since its launch on the Xbox One Game Preview program last month, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has received a number of updates to improve the experience for players. The latest update for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One, rolling out this week, will make some important changes to the game, such as nerfing vehicles. Once PUBG players on Xbox One download the latest update, they will notice that vehicles take more damage. Furthermore, drivers and passengers in vehicles will take more damage when they smash into objects and other vehicles. Players hit by vehicles will take “slightly” less damage, though it will likely still result in near-instant death depending on how fast the vehicle is going. Besides the vehicle nerf, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players can also look forward to slight visual improvements for reticles as well as a variety of bug fixes. The game still has a long way to go if it hopes to catch up to its PC counterpart, but these changes should still be welcomed by the community. Since the game continues to increase in popularity on Xbox One, recently surpassing 4 million players on the platform, fans may be able to expect updates to come at an even faster rate. Future updates for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will further optimize the game on Xbox One, make changes to the starting area, and most significantly, add the new desert map Miramar. All of these updates are expected to come this year, so PUBG players on Xbox One have a lot to look forward to. Not only is there more content on the way for the Xbox One version of the game, but PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players on Xbox One are also being gifted a whopping 30,000 battle points. Available to anyone who makes a character in PUBG by January 31, these battle points can be spent on loot crates, which are how players unlock new customization options in the game. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now for PC and on Xbox One through the Game Preview program. Xbox One vs PC Differences. This page contains information on the differences between the PC and Xbox One versions of PUBG. Aside from the completely reworked control scheme, not much is different between the two releases - up to 99 players still drop into the same large map, fighting to be the last player remaining as the survivable play area gets smaller and smaller. EditInventory Management. Obviously, players on keyboard and mouse are able to make quicker use of the slot-based inventory system, while console players will need to take a little more time to equip and outfit each weapon they pick up. When picking up weapons, press A to equip the item in an open inventory slot. If your two weapon slots are already full, select which one you'd like to replace and then press A to make the switch. You can also immediately equip weapon attachments (scopes, silencers, stocks, etc). All other items are collected by pressing X, either outside or within the inventory screen (remember you can snag items off the ground via the "Nearby Pickup" tab of the screen. EditClimb All Over Everything. Unlike the current Early Access release on PC (not to be confused with the PC test servers), PUBG players on Xbox One  have the ability to vault over low walls and fences and mantle up onto ledges and objects. This is a great way to make new use of old terrain for returning players. EditNo Camera-Locked Modes. The Xbox One verison of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds also doesn't offer the forced perspective modes that the PC has. This means that as cool as forced first-person matches are, the only way to make it happen on XB1 is to convince everyone in your lobby not to use 3rd person mode.
