For Xbox One owners, the wait to play PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) will end December 12th. The battle royale game consistently racks up 2 million daily players on Steam, and in just over a month it will transition to the Xbox Game Preview program as a work in progress, with studio Bluehole leaning on players to help guide the game's development. "We can use it like Steam Early Access where we can develop on console with the community, and that's going to be really essential -- in our view -- for getting a really great version on console," creator Brendan Greene told Engadget. The version that comes out in December won't be a direct 1:1 port, though. At least not yet. The most noticeable difference is that PUBG on Xbox One won't feature the PC version's upcoming "Desert" map (below), which has a big emphasis on verticality in an urban environment. Greene said there wasn't a timeframe for when Xbox fans will be able to explore that map. Other than that, he said that the two games are "essentially" the same. That means the Xbox version will have vaulting and climbing at launch in December, which was announced back at E3 in June but still is in testing on PC. The game's 1.0 version will release sometime later in December, according to a post on Xbox Wire . What separates the pair is the development cycle. PUBG has been playable on PC since March, and as such it has a nine month (at least) lead time in terms of features. "We want the same game on both platforms, but the Xbox version is obviously lagging a little bit behind when it comes to the PC version," Greene said. "There's not a different feature set, it's at just different points in development." When asked if Bluehole had a timeframe in mind for the PlayStation 4 version, Greene's answer wasn't hopeful. "No, not at all," he admitted. He said that right now the team is focused just on getting the Xbox One port out the door. And, since the PS4 doesn't offer its own game preview program it's anyone's guess when that will happen, but games need to be pretty much feature complete for Sony to list them on the PlayStation Network Store. For example, Ark: Survival Evolved didn't come out for PS4 until late this August, when the Xbox Game Preview version was released in December 2015. Great concept, very fun, getting better with updates.👍 The gameplay for this game is really fun and addicting but some controls have a hard time working such as picking up team mates. Crashing is much less than before when it first came out and disabling captures helps with processing on a standard xbox one. Read Description Before Buying/Rating! THIS IS A GAME PREVIEW! It will have bugs. It will crash. They are working and updating to make it better. Don't get mad when you pay for a game preview and it crashes. Be supportive, and understanding. If you encounter errors, go to their forums and let them know the issues you have. Leaving 1 star reviews just because it crashed is childish. Rate on the gameplay and the fun you have while it is working. Think of this as an alpha test, just open to whomever supports them by buying the game preview. The gameplay is fun. Love the option to run around in vehicles, grab backpacks to carry more, and being able to loot other players. If your in a squad, a microphone is highly recommended. I have had alot of fun with random people, even with the game crashing for them and me. Alot of times you can load right back into the match, and if you have a good squad to keep you alive, get right back into the action. If u turn off game DVR under settings>preferences>Capturing and broadcasting you will notice a gigantic increase in the consistency of your framerate and will notice less crashes. The UI is good, controls are good for my preference. There are some things that should be fixed. First is the crashing. It happens every couple games and can be annoying, I understand the game is in preveiw and needs fixes. 2nd is rendering, I understand that there are 100 people on big server but people that have the Xbox One X have a advantage. Yes it is in game preview, however it is still in poor condition. Constant framerate issues (I am on the XB1X which was supposed to do 60fps mind you), and severe rubber banding. Also since the latest 2 updates, my crew and I have experienced several crashes. At least 3 a day, which we have to go to the home screen and reload into the game. Which is nice but also can make for a very unpleasant experience and severe frustration. Because when the game runs well, it is a great time. I dont know what Bluehole is doing with all of that money from the millions of purchases, but they need to update the server, and game with significant patches. Also, I know Phil Spencer better lock this game up for more than a year AFTER this game gets its full release. Great Game Plauged By Rushed Development. I've always preferred PUBG for a Battle Royale experience due to the game's emphasis on realism and gear/weapon variety rather than it being arcady and cartoony (which is the reason why I don't like Fortnite) and overall, I've had a relatively good experience playing this game but however, I'm not going to deny that this game has some MAJOR issues that will surely hurt it's reputation. The first and most obvious issue is the Frame Rate. A match usually starts off with really bad FPS that averages at around 15 or so smoothing out a minute after you land on the ground. This can get pretty annoying and can cause one to get killed and lose. The other being the poor latency and crashes. You can be hiding behind a tree, boulder, or a corner of a building and still get shot and every now and then, the game will instantly crash leaving you to be a sitting duck. Lots of polish needed but gets you hooked. Framerate needs improvement, aim needs alot of fine tuning. Even PC players that can run this on Ultra settings don't because its easier to see players with foilage set to very low and other settings on medium. After playing with inventory system I can say it works but not as fast as drag and drop. Rubberbanding after jumping out the plane and after landing is there and an all too familiar issue from PC. Vaulting is a great addition, some new guns are nice. Since this is early access I will be continuing to play since playing on PC Bluehole has always been updating the game at a steady pace. If your a first timer to this game then it will be a bad first impression. For people like myself who played on PC, this is what we dealt with on that early access launch.
