What makes diablo what it is is the fact that FOUR PEOPLE CAN LEARN THE STORY AT THE SAME TIME. You can only do story mode as a single player. Makes no sense seeing as how the layout of the screen can TOTALLY host up to four players. I would so return it if the graphics weren't so good. But come one. bad business move. It has an easy setting. Female characters don't look ridiculous. Female armor is every bit as ferocious looking as male armor, and so is her attitude. She talks like a Viking warrior. Skills and abilities based upon the god you worship really adds to the story. I'm committed to Loki, so I use dual weapons. The game mechanics work very well. Others have said it's the same engine as Diablo III (which I may buy now). Build up power to launch more powerful attacks, level up by accumulating blood points (by killing enemies), gather loot. All the things I love about rpg. I like the story. It's not overly convoluted, and suits the setting, theme and characters. Most of the levels have puzzles, often built around runes, to add to the fighting and the story. Upgrade your weapons & armor with runes - and you can get runes by competing in Trials of the Gods. I like these a lot. It has some glitches. I started a second character to play, and when I switched to my more advanced character the game tried to start me at the beginning of the story! I had to delete my second character and go back two saves to correct. This was a huge disappointment as I wanted to play a character with a different god, but am afraid to start one. Some of the puzzles are annoying because I only got them through sheer luck, not clues. This could be my weakness, but when I googled I see a lot of others have the same problem. Character inventory is strange - you collect a lot of loot, but it all just gets sold. There is no special aspect to any of it, which is disappointing. Smith & armorer are useless - this may be a bigger con of playing on easy. I pick up much better armor and weapons than the merchants in my village offer. My husband says a lot of games have this problem, though. Part of the game play entails collecting pieces of legendary weapons, like Mjolnir, to "build." I'm not sure how I feel about this one. On the one hand, it's a neat idea and provides another reason to smash every chest, wall and find every hidden alcove. On the other, I'm at level 30 already and have only put together the Priven Shield, which I can't use as a devotee of Loki. Are the other weapons only going to come together at the very end of the story with no opportunity to truly wield them?

These gods are attached to weapons though which is just a little annoying… And theres a level cap of 30 here… so it isn’t as simple as just grinding for your new favorite weapon. it forces you to have to choose your weapon type early on before you get a chance to play with them all or even see what youre going to get in the future… if you want to be as powerful as possible. because unlocked skills in each tree as gifts from the gods… Theyre special moves and attacks you can do during battles that can only be done with certain weapons equipped… The combat here feels fairly satisfying… Theres decent challenge here and youre able to roll to dodge attacks… but there isn’t much more to it than hit and dodge and throw down some special attacks…. And at the end of each level theres a boss… the bosses are pretty cool, only 1 or 2 gave me any trouble though… And they feel varied enough to still be an enjoyable endcap to each level.. After youre done with this 10 hour campaign you can start again in new game plus, capped out at level 30.. but your gifts do carry over or play as the other character…. there isn’t much incentive to do either though… especially due to the low level cap… I enjoyed myself.. but theres nothing here that youll want to experience more than once… Wolves of Midgard is an enjoyable experience.. Not a Diablo 3 killer (but what is) but still a solid ARPG with interesting aesthetics that doesn't take itself too seriously. Minor technical hiccups don't ruin the fun, if somewhat repetitive, experience. Your love of the genre and Norse mythology will greatly impact your enjoyment. Tried the trial, bought it immediately after. So this game is pretty awesome if you know what you are getting. I had been searching for something like Champions of Northath or Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2, this fits the bill perfectly and then some. I love the fact that there is multiplayer campaign so I can play with my friend (only 2 at a time). The fighting machanics are simple which to me is a plus, I want a hack n slash to feel hacky and slashy, I played as a dual wielder and got some pretty cool magic and power moves unlocked. It's not as flashy as D3 partly because its in the snow and partly because D3 has had years now to iron out its bad parts. My final opinion is simpe. Just play the trial and if at the end of the two hours you want to keep going then buy it. Some people say its not worth $60, I've purchased much worse games for $60 and this one is something Xbox was in short supply of, for me I'm happy to fund them to hopefully see more and better content in the future. I don't feel this is a 60$ game, Itried the trial version, Id say 30$ at best, the game needs some optimizing the game struggles when the screen gets crowded. I noticed it mentioned in app purchases , I never saw any option for this. just like D3 it gets repetative,but the npc crafters are real easy towork with. I would say try the timed trial, and mess with different classes.
