Microsoft Xbox 360 Racing Wheel on Xbox One. I have been a pretty big Forza Motorsports fan since the original game on the Xbox. I ended up buying a Microsoft racing wheel for the Xbox 360 a while back and have used it quite a bit since then. It was no surprise to me that the Xbox One would be unable to support last generation’s peripherals. While trying to figure out what options I had, I stumbled across an awesome little device called CronusMax. It basically allows you to use (almost any) controllers from current and last gen on (almost any) consoles from current and last gen. For instance, you can use a PlayStation 4 controller on an Xbox One or an Xbox One controller on an Xbox 360. CronusMax doesn’t currently support racing wheels (although they said they would be working on that in the near future) but I found that it worked fine with my Microsoft racing wheel… well, almost fine. Aside from the lack of force feedback and rumble, there was a large deadzone in the wheel even after changing it to 0 in the Forza 5 controller options. After doing a small amount of research I found that I could change this pretty easily with the Gtuner scripting tool. Gtuner is the software you will need to get firmware updates and to mess with scripting and macros. Here is a short video of me showing that the wheel works on the Xbox One. If you decide you want to order one of these, make sure you get the one that says “CronusMax” and not the older versions. I got mine on eBay for $49. If you don’t already have a racing wheel for the Xbox One you can buy a Microsoft Xbox 360 Racing Wheel for $50-$70 on eBay . You will also need a Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for PC which are around $15. That is a pretty good deal considering the only current option is a poorly rated wheel that costs $400. *The information below has been updated on 7/15/14* Racing wheels are not “officially” supported yet. The Following wheels have been tested and work without Force Feedback: Microsoft Racing Wheel ($60) eBay / Amazon Microsoft Wireless Speed Wheel ($30) eBay / Amazon Fanatec Turbo 911 S Racing Wheel ($200) eBay / Not available on Amazon. Thanks to Steve Rand and Doc 187 XL for testing their wheels and submitting their results. The majority of the last gen wheels should work but I would still like to make a complete list of tested wheels. If you would like to contribute, please test out your wheel and post your results in the comments. At this point there are multiple scripts to choose from. Try a few different scripts and see which one works best for you and your wheel. If you want more information on the product, check out cronusmax.com. Share this: Related. There are so many mods out for the Xbox 360 its unreal the things you can do. So plugging in through USB doesn’t work? No. You need to plug a CronusMax into the Xbox One, then plug an Xbox 360 Wiresless Adapter for PC into the CronusMax. I have a fanatec csr elite wheel for Xbox 360, ps3 n pc. Can this wheel work with the cronusmax? I have not tested that wheel. One way to test that your wheel works would be to play another game with it (not racing) and see if the steering wheel acts like a left analog stick, then see if the gas/brake pedals act like right and left triggers. If that is the case then your wheel will work. I also have the same wheel n yes it works bt it is not calibrated one bit and it won’t turn correctly the way it should so way too hard to steer. Needs calibration and update on cronusmax for the fantac csr elite wheel. Please. Have you tried using the scripts for the racing wheel? Great product, and due to this effort, I am now racing happily with my old XB360 wheel on XB1. I have upgraded the Script a bit to add some Rumble, and enhanced the sensitivity, CronusMax is quite AMAZING . It is an awesome product. I’ll have to check out your script. 😉 Wait, are you saying that you can use cross generation equipment? I ask because I was given a Logitech DFGT for christmas and I love it and I want an Xbox one but I don’t want to get rid of it. You can but you lose force feedback. Is this a useable hack or just something really for show and tell? In other words, are you playing your forza 5 with your hacked 360 steering wheel or are you just using the regular xbone controller? It is useable if you can live without force feedback. I generally run my wheel when trying to set times, otherwise I use a controller. So if I get it right this only work when you use a cable? I have the microsoft wheel but that’s bluetooth and I dont think there’s an option to connect a cable… Ooh wait, I see here http://controllermax.com/manual/drex_usage_overview_custom.png that the next generation does support bluetooth… So it should work. And how about connecting Thrustmaster Ferrari Vibration GT Cockpit 458 Italia Edition (for Xbox 360) to PS4? Is it possible through this device? I have not tried connecting anything to the PS4. The CronusMax website states that it requires a Windows PC running the MaxAIM DI Plugin in to work on the PS4. Where does one find the scripts needed for the force feedback and vibration upgrades? You can download scripts using the Gtuner software. There are no force feedback scripts as it is not supported. thank you! I’m so excited to put CronusMax to work. Appreciate your posts!! The Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel lets you experience realistic, accurate steering, and feel every bump in the road with rumble feedback. The wireless speed wheel puts you in control with intuitive buttons and triggers: Intuitive steering with motion sensors Trigger buttons for accelerating and braking Buttons for game-specific functions: Wireless speed wheel. Watch the video “Wireless speed wheel features and setup.” Note This video is available in English only . Step 1: Install the Wireless Speed Wheel software. The easiest way to install the Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel software drivers is to connect to Xbox Live. If your console is connected to Xbox Live, then you’re ready for Step 2. If your console is not connected to Xbox Live, do one of the following: Insert the Software Driver disc or the game disc included with the Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel. When you’re prompted to update your console, choose to update the software (if you aren’t prompted, the software is up to date). Once updated, go to step 2. Update your console software. Once updated, you’re ready for step 2. Step 2: Insert batteries. Insert AA alkaline (included with the wheel) or fully charged Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries into the wireless speed wheel. Here’s how: Turn the speed wheel upside down. Press the battery release button to open the battery door. Insert two new AA (LR6) batteries with their positive (+) and negative (–) ends positioned as shown on the battery compartment. For best performance, AA rechargeable batteries are not recommended. Replace the battery door and push to lock in place. Note The wireless speed wheel doesn’t charge rechargeable batteries. You must recharge batteries in a charging device. Step 3: Connect the speed wheel to your console. To connect your speed wheel and console: Turn on your console. Press and hold the Start or Guide button on the wheel until lights flash. Press and release the connect button on the console. Within 20 seconds, press and release the connect button on the wireless speed wheel. The light on the wheel’s right handle will flash while it connects to your console. Once the wheel is connected to your console, one segment on the wheel’s center ring of light is illuminated (this can take up to 10 seconds). The Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel has buttons, lights, and triggers, on the handle bars and in the center of the speed wheel. The controls in the center of the speed wheel include the Start, Back, and the Guide button. A light ring surrounds the Guide button. When you connect the speed wheel to your console, a section on the ring of light illuminates. Each subsequent speed wheel or controller that is connected to the console (up to four) is assigned a section on the ring of light. Start and Back button behavior is the same as on your Xbox controller. Press the Guide button to turn your console on. Once on, pressing the Guide button displays the Xbox Guide. To turn off your console, press and hold the Guide button for three seconds and confirm your selection. Handle bar controls. The controls on the handle bar include the accelerator trigger, the brake trigger, and the A, B, X, and Y buttons. Squeezing the accelerator trigger on the right handle bar makes your vehicle go faster. Squeezing the brake trigger on the left handle bar makes your vehicle slow down. The A, B, X, and Y buttons behave the same as on your Xbox controller. The directional pad behaves the same as on your Xbox controller. Start and use your speed wheel. When you use your speed wheel with driving games, it acts like a steering wheel and ignores unwanted motion. The speed wheel supports pitch, yaw, and roll, but not all games supports these actions. Refer to the game’s manual to find out what actions are supported by the game. To start your speed wheel: Press and hold the Start or Guide button on the wheel until lights flash. Wait for the wheel to be assigned a section on the ring of light. The wheel is ready to play. If lights continue to flash around the Guide button, see the Setup or Troubleshoot speed wheel problems topics on this page. Watch the video “Using the speed wheel with racing games.” Note This video is available in English only. The Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel is designed to work with most Xbox racing games. Because the wheel does not have shoulder buttons, some functionality may be limited in some game titles that use shoulder buttons. Refer to the game’s manual for information about shoulder button functionality, or to see if the game allows remapping of controller functions. Watch the video “Playing Forza 4 with the speed wheel.” Note This video is available in English only. Make sure the batteries are new AA alkaline or fully charged Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries. See Setup for more information. Four lights keep flashing on the wheel. When four lights around the Guide button flash followed by alternating flashing, this means the wheel is not connected to the console. If this is your first time connecting the wheel to your console, refer to the Setup information above. If you previously connected the wheel to your console, do the following: Press and hold the Start or Guide button on the wheel until lights flash. The wheel should stop flashing and be assigned a section on the ring of light. If the lights flash longer than 15 seconds, try the following: Move the speed wheel closer to the console. Make sure the console and speed wheel are at least three feet away from large metal objects, such as file cabinets and refrigerators. Metallic decorations or stickers on the console or speed wheel can interfere with performance. Remove decorations and try connecting again. Make sure the front of the console is positioned in the direction of the racing wheel, and not toward a nearby wall. Cordless phones (2.4 GHz), wireless LANs, wireless video transmitters, microwave ovens, and some cell phones can interfere with the operation of the speed wheel. Try turning these wireless devices off or unplugging them, to see if the wheel will then successfully connect to your console. Free game. Design an Xbox controller. Become a pirate legend. I Just Got This Today, Very Simple Setup I Must Say, Only Thing I Would Add Are LED Lights In The Buttons For Night Gaming. One person found this helpful. It's really good. information. it will work with an xbox one s also. I love it. I just wish it had the clutch pedal. Stopped Working. I used my wheel for Forza Horizon 2 and within about a month it just stopped working with no clear reason as to why. Best beginner xbox one racing wheel! I have had this racing wheel for about a year and three months now, and I have had no trouble from it at all since I bought it. One of my favorite things about this wheel is the paddle shifters, which make a very satisfying 'click' when pressed. The wheel also feels very good in your hands, as the red rubber grips keep your hands down very well. The bungee cord used in this wheel is a very good substitute for force feedback, and I was pleasantly surprised as to how much resistance it was capable of giving. This wheel works seamlessly with forza motorsport 5, forza motorsport 6, forza horizon 2, and F1 2015. Although I do not own project cars, I believe that that game supports the wheel as well. I love it and I saved up just for that I have it sitting in my room and I love it but I want force feed back. Love and hate relationships. I like be this wheel when I'm playing on my Xbox one forza!! Unfortunately I hate that I bought a alpha core Alienware gaming system and also purchased euro truck sim just to use this wheel with it and it doesnt even recognize it. I'm furious. Plz someone tell me if there's a fix for this. i just bought it and it is amazing it feels like a real driving wheel. Great handling racing wheel! I love this wheel! Easy to adjust sensitivity while driving, handles great on Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2. Works good with The Crew also. Need for Speed doesn't support it though. Can't go back to using a controller after using this wheel. Only thing I'd change is that there is no connection for a headset. Translate to English. Язык Microsoft Store: United States - English. Wireless Speed Wheel for Xbox One. Loved the immersion that the wireless speed wheel provided to Forza and other racing games on the Xbox 360. Would love to see it on the XBox One. And if you do it, be sure to include bumpers and a chat adapter. 83 comments. I can't believe it's been four years and yet Microsoft hasn't shown any interest making a brand new Xbox one wireless speed wheel it needs to happen like ASAP I don't understand why Microsoft is relying on third party accessories like thrust master or logitech they need to make their own first party accessories even till this day I haven't purchased a steering wheel because I don't have room in my small room so having a wireless speed wheel is a must and I absolutely Love my Xbox 360 wireless speed wheel it is so extremely accurate it's not even funny I can truly enjoy realistic racing and the best part is it does not take no space however I did found a workaround I use my Xbox one kinect as a steering wheel and it does work flawlessly it is quite accurate just like my 360 wireless speed wheel hopefully Microsoft develop A brand new wireless speed wheel for Xbox one I would literally buy it in a heartbeat it is a must-have come on Microsoft you're losing against PS4 are you really going to let that happen? Get off your lazy *** and develop a brand new wireless speed wheel for Xbox one that is all we ask for it's not too much to ask you have the resources and R&D to make it happen so please make it happen pretty please I will throw $100 if that's going to take for Microsoft to show any interest if I have to if not oh well I tried I will just stick with my one S controller and my Xbox one kinect😢 I sure would buy a Wireless Speed Wheel that would work with the Xbox One X. Enjoyed using it with Forza even though I have a Logitech G27 on PC. It was very accurate and easy to use anywhere in the house or camper. Please bring it back. I will buy ASAP! Thanks! I purchased Forza 5 when it came out assuming that a Xbone version of the WSW would be coming. It didn't and I haven't purchased another racing game since. I'd be VERY happy to pay up to $100 for an Xbox One version of the WSW (add bumpers this time. ) so I could continue playing racing games. Until then, I continue to play Forza 3 and 4 on the 360. Your loss, Microsoft. I just pulled out my Speed Wheel now that I'm trading in my two 360's for the Xbox One X, and I found my Speed Wheel. what a great controller. Sad to see nothing this minimal and practical hasn't found a place (or made compatible), with the Xbox One family. Please, i'd love to use it on forza 6 and 7. All we need is an official adapter. Please Microsoft. Xbox one was released nearly 4 years ago yet still no wireless speed wheel, obviously Microsoft doesn't give a flying fark about what customers want. wireless Speed Wheel is the best Wheel I ever had. As it is not available for xbox one I can not Play racing games with my xbox one. I do not like other wheels. When will the wireless Speed Wheel be available for xbox one? Does this know someboddy here? The Wireless Speed Wheel was one of the best controllers I've used for a racing game. My wife and I both have one and loved them. I don't have to use a clunky wheel/pedal setup and have a lot more control over the car than I would with the controller. Please make one for the Xbox One! (and include the bumper buttons this time?) That wheel is an awesome one. I've had my *Microsoft wheel for many years and its still as new, its strong and a very good wheel. I'm surprised the Xbox One doesn't support it already. I vote urgent that Microsoft make the speed wheels for xbox one!! I actually use the 360 speed wheels with my xbox one, and it works great with a CronusMax!! But we ALL want an official speed wheels for the One. Thanks, Microsoft, to work urgently on it! Ditto for the Madcatz Wireless Force Feedback wheel. feizex. wondered how the cronusmax worked out with the wireless speed wheel? Was it easy to implement? I'm ready to order one myself. but I'm not too clear on how to set it up. Would love to know your experience. I ended up selling my 360 Speed Wheel with my xBox 360. Every month get a little more angry That an xBox One Speed Wheel still not available. What the heck MS? 1. xBox 360 Wheel should have worked.. period. 2. Many of us do not want a huge wheel and pedal package.. doesn't work in our environment. Speed Wheel is a great compromise. Racing with a standard xBox controller SUX! Thus I have not played or purchased any new race game in over a year. Dumb. Please release new xBox One version of Speed Wheel (since you refused to support 360 devices). Found a work around - bought a cronusmax usb stick (+ 360 wireless adapter) from oz mod chips (AU store) so I can run 360 speed wheel on xbox one s. Can't wait till it arrives! REALLY? CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS NOT AVAILABLE! JUST BOUGHT AN XBOX ONE S - ONLY WANTED TO PLAY LATEST FORZA - NOW I FIND MY 360 SPEED WHEEL WON'T WORK AND THERE IS NO WHEEL FOR XO! NOOOO. I am really disappointed at the lack of a wireless wheel option with the Xbox One, and even moreso that no Forza games on the Xbox One support kinect controls either, despite how Kinect 2 was supposed to be a major selling point for the Xbox One it feels like it has ended up being a $100 paperweight sitting on top of my TV. I liked playing the racing games with the wireless speed wheel because I did not have to buy more furniture to attach it to in order to play. Bring that to Xbox one please. Microsoft i think that you should one speed wheel that is for the Xbox one and is modular in color and grip style for customization .but is compatible with as Xbox 360 and is under $45. We need this. I loved the x360 version and all racing wheels are expensive. Wireless Speed Wheel was the best ever controller for racing games. Small enough to hide in drawer, large enough to play well. On 360 I bought a lot of racing games. On X1 I will not buy any till I'll be able to buy WSW for X1. Typical driving wheels are just to big. And classic controller is really no fun compared to WSW. The red thing on the brake pedal is to adjust the amount of pressure needed to activate the load cell. Xbox One-compatible steering wheels are a bit like buses. Nothing for ages, then all of a sudden several turn up at once. When the Xbox One launched a little under two years ago, Microsoft decided to move do a different protocol for peripherals. That meant that no existing steering wheels would work with the console, despite the fact that Forza Motorsport 5 was a much-heralded launch title. Things are much better now for console racers. Thrustmaster was first out of the gate, followed by Mad Catz, both of which we've reviewed in the past. Now, in time for the arrival of Forza Motorsport 6 , Logitech and Fanatec both have Xbox One-compatible wheels on the market (both will also work with PCs, and the Fanatec with the PS3 and PS4). Lets take a look at them. We'll start with Logitech's G920, if for no other reason than it arrived first. In the box you get a steering wheel and a pedal set with all three pedals, which immediately sets Logitech apart from its rivals, Thrustmaster and Mad Catz, both of whom only include an accelerator and brake pedal as standard (given the big price jump from these wheels to the Fanatec setup we don't think they're direct competitors anymore). Logitech won many fans with its G25 and G27 racing wheels, and the G920 (and its sister, the PS4-compatible G29) directly follow this lineage. There is much to like about the G920. The wheel's base is compact and elegant. At the front on either side are a pair of clamps to allow you to attach it to a desk, and the base also has threaded holes so you can screw it down to a desk, cockpit, or wheel stand. Happily for me, the holes are in the right place to allow it to be mounted to a Fanatec Clubsport wheel stand. In this regard, the G920 has an advantage over Thrustmaster's TX and Mad Catz's wheels. Logitech also paid attention to cable management. The ports to connect the power, pedals, and optional gear shifter are on the underside, but thoughtfully there are channels for routing the wires out the back. The wheel rim is also well-designed and feels like a quality piece of hardware. The rim is wrapped in perforated leather, with aluminum spokes and aluminum paddle shifters mounted behind. Above the spokes are a D-pad (to the left) and the A/B/X/Y buttons (right). The other Xbox controls are on the spokes themselves, with the Xbox button and a bright white LED on the vertical. The action of the shift levers is positive and they don't feel at all flimsy. Under the skin you'll find dual force feedback motors driving helical gearing, coupled to a Hall-effect steering sensor. The wheel defaults to 900˚ of rotation lock-to-lock, but unlike the Thrustmaster TX there does not appear to be a way of altering this on the wheel itself. However, you can change the amount of steering required via in-game preferences, and the G920 obeys. The Logitech's pedals certainly stand out compared to its rivals. We were not massive fans of the stock pedals included with either Thrustmaster or Mad Catz offerings, but these are quite good. The base is made from hard plastic, and the pedals have hard-wearing metal faces. The action of the pedals is good; not too soft, and the brake pedal reacts in a non-linear fashion to inputs. From 20 percent to 100 percent braking requires more pressure than the initial 20 percent, according to Logitech. There's also an optional gear shifter ($59.99), moulded out of the same plastic as the wheel base. The shifter has a decent physical action, and the unit also includes a plastic clamp for attaching it to your set up. It's an OK unit, but feels (and is) cheaper than the extremely solid metal TH8A shifter that Thrustmaster will sell you. Using the G920 with the Xbox One is painless. Plug it in to the back of the console via USB and away you go. The force feedback and vibration through the rim is good, but not as powerful as the Thrustmaster TX. Despite this, it's easy to be precise with the wheel, and if anything the lower amount of force required makes it a little less tiring at the end of a multi-hour racing session. The pedals have good action and the brake in particular is the best we've experienced at this price point (under $400), requiring a hefty shove to get 100% braking pressure in Forza 6 . Although the G920 is more expensive right now than the TX (which can be had for under $300), we think Logitech's superior reliability is worth the extra cost—our test TX died this week after a little more than a year, and the Internet is replete with complaints about Thrustmaster's reliability. However, the TX does allow for more user configurability, and we're definitely going to miss its auto-clutch feature. Back in the days of the Xbox 360, Fanatec (from the German company Endor) was king of the hill. $500 was pricey, but you got a wheel that worked with everything—Xbox, PS3, and PC. And what a wheel it was, with a huge amount of configurability, including the ability to remember five different setting profiles. Fanatec decided not to go for Xbox One licensing with their cheaper wheels, but they have done so for the top of the line Clubsport wheel platform. However, it won't be cheap. First you need the Clubsport Wheel Base V2 ($599.95). Then you need the Xbox One-compatible wheel hub ($399.90), and finally the Clubsport V3 pedals ($299.99). All in all, it's not much of a difference from $1,300, which is enough to buy a Thrustmaster TX, a Logitech G920, and a Mad Catz wheel, with quite a lot of change left over. That is a lot of cash—maybe even more than my comrade Lee Hutchinson spends on his spacecraft controls. You do get a lot of hardware for your money though. Everything is constructed out of anodized aluminum and feels solid. The wheel base is drilled so you can mount it to a stand, and all the ports (for connecting power, the pedals, optional shifters and handbrakes, and USB to the console) are mounted at the back, making them easy to access. It uses belt-drives instead of helical gears to turn the wheel, and the ubiquitous Hall-effect sensors. A clear plastic window on top of the wheel base even lets you see the innards in action. You attach the wheel hub to the base with the same kind of quick-release fitting found in many racing cars, and the rim is easily removed and replaced on the hub via six hex screws. The rim we've been testing is a nice leather-wrapped affair that wouldn't be out of place in our racing car, and the hub features all the Xbox control buttons on five stalks, the positions of which can be adjusted. The top of the hub duplicates all these buttons, and also features an LED display (for configuring different profiles). The paddle shifters for changing gear are large and have a positive if very light action, but the box also includes some smaller ones in case you prefer that. All in all, a very adjustable set up. The Clubsport pedals are the third version of the ones I bought back in 2009. Now they look like they belong to Darth Vader, with black anodized aluminum with red hex screws. Included are pedal extensions and stiffer springs for the accelerator, and the unit is extremely adjustable. It's also very heavy, almost 18 pounds (8.14kg). The clutch and accelerator pedals use Hall-effect sensors and now have 4 times the resolution of the older V2 Clubsport pedals, according to Fanatec. But the real highlight is the brake pedal. Unlike every other pedal set, Fanatec use an adjustable load cell (now tweaked by twisting that red cylinder, instead of a little dial as found on previous models). This can be set so that you'll need 200 pounds (90kg) of pressure to register maximum braking, but wind the pedal back and you can brake with much less effort. There's also Fanatec's nifty ABS feature. This isn't really antilock braking; rather, there's a small motor behind the pedal, and you can tell the unit (via the wheel) to set a threshold, at which point the pedal will vibrate. So, if you set it to 90 percent, it will give you haptic feedback once you're depressing it to that degree, so you know when to back off the brakes to stop the wheels locking. It is an extremely useful function, since good braking is one of—or maybe the most—important aspects of setting good lap times. Everyone can mash the throttle out of a corner, but finesse on the brakes is where you can make a difference over your rivals. Unfortunately, the Fanatec setup is much less user friendly than any of the cheaper wheels we've tested, including the company's previous offerings. In all, we spent almost five hours setting everything up and then troubleshooting several different issues, from the brake registering pressure even when nothing was touching it, to the wheel being stuck in calibration mode. The first thing you'll need to do is install the latest firmware, so have a PC standing by—we recommend a laptop since there's a lot of weight to be moving around if you have to shuttle them from desktop to Xbox and back again. Both the wheel base and the pedals will need to be updated. In the end, we discovered that the secret to making everything work properly was to remove the wheel hub from the base and reattach it, something we've since had to do on several occasions when bits started misbehaving. We're not sure if this was bad luck or user error on our part, but the experience was much less painless than we expected, especially for console hardware. Once those problems were out of the way and we could get racing, we became firm fans of the Fanatec (try saying that 10 times). With Forza 6 set to 100 vibration and feedback and the wheel set to respect Forza's settings—these can be overridden—it's an extremely precise controller but requires similar effort to turn the wheel as the G920. That was a little surprising coming from the Thrustmaster TX which requires bigger biceps, but as with the Logitech it does mean you can play for longer before fatigue sets in. The wheel is quiet in use, and cooling seems like it won't be a problem with a large fan on the back of the wheel base. Which one should I buy? Picking the right wheel for your needs may be tricky. If you're on a normal budget, either Thrustmaster's TX ($300) or Logitech's G920 ($400) are good options. The Thrustmaster is cheaper and more configurable, but comes with a bit of a question mark over its reliability. The Logitech has better pedals, and requires less time in the gym. It also doesn't look like a 7/8th scale Ferrari 458 wheel, which is going to be important for some people. Both will work with PCs as well as the Xbox One, but neither (we think) will work with a PS4. If money is no object, then treat yourself and buy a complete Fanatec set up. Just be ready for a bit of work on the set up side of things (but since this is Ars Technica and you're reading us, you're probably a level 50 techie so it won't be a problem). You'll also be able to use the wheel with a PS3 and PS4 as well as the Xbox One, PC, and (we think) the Xbox 360. The Clubsport pedals' brake in particular is so much better than anything else on the market. There's even the option of using Fanatec Clubsport pedals with Thrustmaster's wheels, via a neat little adapter from Basherboards, although you might have to wait a month or two (or longer) for it to be delivered. One thing is certain though; there's never been a better time for steering wheels on the Xbox One. UPDATE: if people are interested in how steering is handled in Forza , one of the game's developers has been discussing it in their forums. Listing image by Elle Cayabyab Gitlin. Promoted Comments. If your ClubSport Wheel Base (V1 or V2) is restarting again and again by itself and being unable to complete the boot sequence you might have forgotten to update your Wheel Base Firmware BEFORE you put on the new wheel rim or wheel hub! Please always download (from product page) and install the latest CSW Base Driver onto your PC. Start the wheel base without your new wheel rim/hub. Open the driver control panel. Install the embedded firmware by navigating to the "update" tab in the browser. All further steps will be explained there. This is no isssue. The firmware of the ClubSport Wheel Base evolves continously and has to prepared for every possible new product which can be attached. Additionally we are always working to improve the performance of the device. Please also keep in mind that the driver also contains relevant firmware updates for other devices (as the CS USB Adapter, CSP V3, etc.). Those devices can be updated in the same way when connected by USB. The firmware updates are also important if the hardware is used on consoles! You will have connect the devices to your PC by USB (for less than 5 minutes) to perform the update. Since Microsoft dropped their own support (April 2014) of Windows XP after more than 13 years we are not longer able to support this PC platform. The last wheels/pedals/shifter driver which supports Windows XP is driver 144. Later driver versions use new software technology which is just not possible on Windows XP. If your hardware or a new firmware requires a newer operation system we only can recommend to upgrade your Windows operating system to a newer version which will not be outdated for a longer while. Right now there is no support on Xbox One to use LEDs and Display. We just can hope that Microsoft implements these features as soon as possible. We have received a couple reports that driver v261 cannot be installed on some Win7 PCs. The root cause is that Windows 7 Updates sometimes are not working as expected. Windows 7 is not aware of recent verification signatures. Therefore we needed to export a special driver for Windows 7 which includes our old driver signature as well. Please try this driver if you are experiencing issues like that: CSW V2 and V2.5 users can also use our latest beta driver (V281) which resolves the issue as well: This driver also works well for other Windows versions (Win7, Win8, Win8.1, Win10). Feel free to test this driver if you are having any issues installing the latest official driver v261 and let our support team know. Thank you! DANKE! EVERY PC game can use extended features ( display , vibration , rev LEDs, rev Stripe, etc. ) of our Fanatec Wheel products as well as ABS software controlled vibration (CSP pedals) but the game developer has to implement those features. Great example: Codemasters just updated F1 2012 on PC to use the SDK directly without any necessary modifications. Alternatively you can use Fanaleds or SLIMax Manager to activate these unique features in many games. Both great applications can be downloaded for free: -> If a game features native SDK support it will override the use of any 3rd party tool like Fanaleds. We are often asked if all Fanatec Xbox One compatible hardware works also on the Xbox One X (or One S). The answer is YES. According to Microsoft the Xbox One X is "just" another Xbox One like the original version or the One S. This is the original MS statement: "Compatible with everything Xbox One. All Xbox One accessories work with Xbox One X. All the Xbox One accessories you’ve got now (or have got your eye on) work with Xbox One X. No hassle. Just play." Microsoft has updated the Xbox One backward compatible versions of three Codemasters racing games for the Xbox 360. Following the update, the games can now be played using wheel controllers made for the Xbox One. The three games supported by the updates are DiRT 3, Dirt Showdown and GRID 2. The addition of wheel controller support was initally revealed on the Major Nelson's Twitter account earlier today. Racing Fans: We've updated Xbox One Back Compat titles Dirt 3, Dirt Showdown & Grid 2 to support Xbox One Wheels pic.twitter.com/542PjLFddl. This is great news for hardcore racing fans who prefer to use a wheel controller to a standard Xbox One controller. Hopefully, this support will be extended to other Xbox 360 racing games in the near future.
