Xbox 360 wireless controller compatible with xbox one

Get via App Store Read this post in our app! Can I use an Xbox 360 controller to play Xbox One? So I broke my Xbox One controller, and while it is easy enough to go out and buy another, I have a couple of Xbox 360 controllers. Is there any way to use an Xbox 360 controller to play Xbox One? The Xbox One cannot directly accept input from an Xbox 360 controller - however, with Windows 10, there is a work around. Windows 10 allows you to set up your Xbox One to stream to your computer. While streaming to your computer, you are directed to connect the controller into the computer, not the Xbox One. In this form, Xbox 360 controllers will work for playing Xbox One games. You can directly plug in a wired controller, or use an adapter, if you are using the wireless controllers. You can only use the Xbox 360 controller for the Xbox One by having an Xbox 360 controller with a cord to connect it to. Xbox 360 Controller Incompatible with Xbox One. Xbox One's fancy new features will render your current collection of controllers and accessories obsolete. With the reveal of Xbox One yesterday there came a lot of questions that Microsoft is now trying to catch up with answering. One issue the company has now addressed is whether or not Xbox 360 controllers and accessories will have any compatibility with Xbox One. The short answer, is no. "Xbox One was designed from the ground up with entirely new technology to deliver a new generation of experiences for both games and entertainment," said a Microsoft spokesperson. "For example, the Wireless Controller will connect to the console using high speed data transfer to enable higher fidelity headset audio and future controller add-on experiences that are not possible with Xbox 360 wireless technology. Additionally, the all-new Kinect sensor's ability to locate the wireless controller is dependent on new technology. In order for Xbox One to deliver robust, meaningful gaming scenarios for all users across all experiences, only Xbox One controllers and accessories will work with the new console." The incompatibility of Xbox 360 controllers is not all that surprising. Just from Microsoft's presentation alone it was pretty clear the Xbox One controller, while aesthetically similar, had gone through a lot of changes both externally and internally. Likewise, the inclusion of a Kinect-like sensor bar with the console itself pretty much guaranteed Kinect wouldn't be compatible or necessary. Not that we imagined many would be worried about Kinect any ways. That said, it could still be disappointing to some that their 360 controllers won't be usable in any way, shape, or form. Whatever improvements the Xbox One controller brings to the table, there will still be some who prefer older options. Likewise, if you invested in some of the shinier 360 controllers available, you might understandably want to carry them over to the next console. Then again, Xbox One isn't backwards compatible, so chances are you're not going to be getting rid of your 360, or its controllers, anytime soon. Xbox One backward compatibility FAQ. However, you can’t be signed in on more than one Xbox One or more than one Xbox 360 at once.

Xbox 360 wireless controller compatible with xbox one

Get via App Store Read this post in our app! Is the Xbox One controller compatible with Xbox 360? I simply do not have the finances available to test this out yet, so I am requesting help from someone who has the answer. I am aware of the original Xbox controller is not compatible with the 360, but does this hold true for the Xbox One controller on the 360? Xbox One controller WILL NOT work with the 360. I have both consoles and have tested. Microsoft stated that the controller shall not work on 360. Meaning Xbox One controller works only with Xbox One and 360 controller works with/only 360 console . But PS4 Dualshock controller works on 360 not sure about Xbox One though. There is a way to that might work (I haven't tested) on the xbox support website they state that you can plug your xbox 360 into your xbox one through the HDMI IN slot. If you want to access your Xbox 360 console, you can plug your Xbox 360 into the Xbox One through the Xbox One’s HDMI In port. This should in theory allow you to use your xbox one controller on your 360 console through the xbox one console. It's a bit weird since I don't know why you would want to do this except for possible controller compatibility. It also states that if you turn of the 360s kinect you will be able to use the xbox one kinect with your 360 through your xbox one. I believe it acts like the TV App on the xbox one console. There have been reports that this could cause lack when playing games - as I said I haven't tested this. This is all based on what has come of the Microsoft xbox one support site. No - you must use the Xbox 360 controller with the Xbox360 hooked up to the Xbox one. I've tried it. Xbox Controller + Cable for Windows. Highlights. Specifications. Add Xbox One controller Support to Xbox 360. Even if wireless is not an option it would be great if I could use the Xbox One controller in wired mode on the Xbox 360, like it is possible to use the dualshock 4 in wired mode in most PS3 games. And viceversa would be awesome as well. [Mod edit: This idea was merged with a similar idea posted by iAmnOgAmeR07. Thanks everyone!] 60 comments. This needs to be a thing. If not possible to do software update for this support please make sync wireless dongle for xbox 360 so it can support xbox one controllers ! Would be really nice to be able to use my Xbox One controller on my 360. I don't see it happening because it's an older system and they want every excuse to get you to use your new one, but one can dream. Of course the trigger option from the One will not work! Maybe some other futures also not, but if Microsoft see how many people are angry about the 360 controller, why not change it so people can play with a one controller. I have friend who have to buy a xbox one console to play with the xbox one controller, thats crazy. they dont like the xbox one console but they just do it for the controller. I want that microsoft will be adding this future to the xbox 360, they even make more money that ever!! I hate the xbox 360 controller, the back of the controller is stuck with a battery. Its not comfortable enough to enjoy games with guns (COD, Destiny, GtaV) When im home with some friends, i always asking if they can bring there xbox one console/xbox one controller so whe can play nice!! Thats crazy right. But i think microsoft is not doing this future, they are scared that the sale of the xbox one will be low. Yes! I've gotten way too used to my SCUF controller on Xbox One, so even though there are still games on the 360 I'd still love to play (Halo 3) it's hard to go back and forth between controllers. It would be a big respect for you! Indeed. The X1 controller feels much better for fighting games, for example. And I'd like to play some they haven't put on X1 yet. this should have been done on release day of the XBone. I would have bought 4 new controllers if MS did this! But instead they ignore the market/customers so not only did i NOT buy controllers. i also have not bought the XBone. The first time in my life i haven't bought into the new generation of consoles on release. I would love for such a feature to be added. I don't expect the individual trigger vibration to be supported in old games, just for the controller to have basic functionality. When you remodeled those old 360 controllers, the d-pad was made rather vulnerable to stress. I just had one break off on me, revealing exactly what those weird cracks near the center actually were. Yay. The main reason I want to use that Xbox One controller on my old system is that sweet d-pad. There's just no substitute for 2D gaming. The sad truth is there's no way you're going to get licenses for ALL of my 360 games, so I still need that old hardware to play those old games. I'd love if you tossed us a bone and let us use the new model on the old hardware. That would be, but MS already killed the 360 Hardware so i dont think they put too major effort in such things. It a shame, because the 360 is a much better video game console than what Xbox One is. And we all know tha the Scorpio project it is not an evolution of the X1, but a copletelly new console, unlike the PS4/Ps4Pro. What they really should do is add support for external USB DVD drive on the xbox 360 so we don't have to worry about scratching our games. I made this a suggestion so if you agree with this idea can you please up vote it? There is no vast difference in "tech". Here's how a controller interfaces with 360 / XB1. there is a TPM module (Trusted Platform Module) in the controller. This basically holds a private security key so that the device (the controller) can interact with the console. This happens on wired and wireless devices. This is done so you can't simply create knock offs and provides Microsoft with a method of control. If you were a controller manufacturer you would have to contact MS and PAY a license fee to use these module in your design so your device is allowed and recognized on their platform. This is why you simply can't plug just any USB interface into any console and have it work. So to say the tech simply doesn't jive is bogus. All MS has to do is provide a firmware update to allow the XB1's TPM key to be accepted on 360. But why would they do that? Instead they can stop manufacturing 360 controllers and force you to buy their newer platform. This my friends is called designed obsolescence. I don't see this happening with the differences in tech and all. Despite the consoles inevitable decline as people begin to buy the xbox one there are still a few people who hold onto their 360. I am such person, or rather I'm a such a person who plays his 360 and has not bought xbox one "yet". I'm still waiting on maybe an improved variant of the console possibly smaller. Otherwise the controller is beautiful. A friend of mine had one and this was during the time that the xbox one controllers had finally gain pc support. Then I was part of a youtube/twitch channel called Glitch Cadets, and we were doing a Lets Play of Dark Souls 1 Prepare to die edition. I was surprised at how responsive the Xbox one controller compared to it's predecessor. It was smooth, t was comfortable within my hands, and although it took some time getting use to the responsiveness of the thing I really loved it. So it is a complete shame that although the controller has PC support it doesn't have support for it's sister console the 360. My 360 controller has seen some better days and I'm in the market for a new controller and I would love to buy an Xbox one controller for both my PC gaming as well as the gaming on my 360. So come on Microsoft get it together. The one controllers got all of the same buttons as the 360 , give us that sweet support. If not wireless atleast wired support so that I can safely buy this beautiful controller connect to the 360 and go to town. I. I understand that at some point the 360 will eventually phase out, but put it this way with the addition of making xbox one controllers have support on the 360 you give the 360 just a few more years of shelf life. Really? Why would they want to engineer this into a low quality over priced product? For the record, the "Elite" Controller is no better than a standard controller and Microsoft doesn't think it will last more than 90 days in an experienced gamers hands. Perhaps MS is attempting to redefine the word elite while misleading the believers? Unless you have an in store warranty, you can not expect Microsoft to stand by their product. I have a copy of my Chat with MS customer support to prove it. They also warned me not to post anything negative? In the same spirit of their use of copy and pasted "customer support "scripts, I have copy and pasted this comment. Added a vote for this. I still play my 360 but it's like going to the red light district when you're married to a model! I was shocked how cheap and well used the 360 controller was after going back from becoming accustomed to the luxury of the ONE controller. I really dislike the 360 controllers after I have gotten used to the one, sure I understand that the trigger vibrations will not work and some other new additions to the xbox one controllers but come on, they are basically the same it fits better in your hand. Save the gamers from getting wrist injuries! I don't think this is possible. The 360 and the one use different kinds of wireless technology to pair the remotes so wired would be your only hope. On top of it, I feel like Microsoft wouldn't do this because they figure if you have an Xbox one you will stop using your 360 or at least not be using it very often. Wired or Wireless, make an update for the 360 that allows us to use our Xbox one controllers with the Xbox 360. The Clubs & LFG Forum Is Live! Our newest Feature Area forum, Clubs & LFG, is now live! Tens of millions of dollars have gone into the development of the Xbox One controller and hundreds of mockups were created in order for Microsoft to nail the perfect design of the Xbox One controller, without throwing out the so much loved Xbox 360 design. At a glance, the Xbox One Controller is quite similar to the Xbox 360's Controller, with a different handle contour, but with off-set analog sticks, the A, B, X and Y face buttons, a directional pad, and two buttons, Menu and View, where Start and Back were. Microsoft has confirmed via twitter that up to 8 controllers can be used compared to the 4 supported on PS4. The day one controller has special text in the middle and has a metallic d-Pad compared to the standard black. The controller maintains the overall design of the Xbox 360 controller but features 40 minor and major design improvements, according to Microsoft that makes the controller more comftorable and more intuitive. The directional pad has a more traditional design compared to previous Xbox controllers, and the battery compartment is slimmer. The triggers will have built-in rumble system called "Impulse Triggers" which is forced vibration built directly into the triggers, which is used in games like Forza. EditXbox One Controller Features. The Xbox One Controller features a slightly altered design from the Xbox 360 controller and some new features: Trigger Rumble Motors Battery pack flush with controller Plus-shaped D-Pad (mechanical) Haptic feedback triggers Grip texture around sticks Faster response time Micro-USB port IR sensors for Kinect interactivity. EditCharging and Battery. Charging your Xbox One controller will be done via micro-USB cable (not included) . The controller will take standard or rechargeable AA batteries in a new integrated battery compartment that doesn't bulge out as it did previously. When you plug a micro-USB cable into the controller for wired play the internal radio is shut off and all data is transmitted through the wire. In this mode the controller can be used without batteries. The new controller will also feature a low power state to help conserve battery life when it is not in use, so you can rest assured knowing that it won't be needlessly draining energy while watching a movie or when away from the console. [1] EditHeadset. Audio delivery through the Xbox One Chat Headset (which is included with the console) will be a higher quality than what Xbox 360 users have become accustomed to, thanks to an improved data transfer rate with three times the sampling rate between the controller and console. According to Microsoft, communication can be clearer than when speaking on a telephone. [2] It has also been announced that the new controller will NOT work with current headsets. [n] This could mean a focus on using the chat capabilities of the Kinect 2 or possibly a new type of headset being made. A chat headset with volume and mute controls come included with every Xbox One, both Day One and regular editions. EditSyncing. The controller will utilize both invisible reflective technology and LEDs to communicate with the console and Kinect, which will make syncing the devices a simple task. The technology can also be used so that Kinect can pair the controller with the person holding it, so that if a couple of friends were enjoying a multi-player game, the console can configure the split-screen positions based on where each is sitting. [3] EditXbox One Controller Button Names. The Xbox One Controller introduces two new buttons on Xbox where Start and Back appeared on Xbox 360. These buttons are named 'Menu' and 'View', similar to how Sony shook things up this time around with 'Options' and 'Share' [n] Menu : "The Menu button (on the right) will bring up context-specific menus which game and app developers can design to enhance the user experience. The Menu button could be used in scenarios such as bringing up in-game menus, showing video playback options, and accessing commands on the console’s user interface." View : The View button "will change views or provide more information in games and apps. Developers will drive the function of the view button. Possible uses of the View button include viewing a map during a role playing game, displaying a leaderboard in a first person shooter, and enhancing the navigation of the console's user interface." EditDay One Edition. The Day One edition controller has "chrome" colored d-pad and a special stamp that shows it's a Day One Edition (Day One 2013). EditXbox One Controller Image Gallery. PC adapter allows you to connect up to eight Xbox One controllers simultaneously. Last updated by Oscar Dayus on August 3, 2017 at 3:44AM. You are now subscribed. Microsoft has unveiled a new iteration of its Xbox Wireless Adapter, which allows you to connect Xbox One controllers to your PC. The new device will hit stores on August 8. The adapter is capable of wirelessly connecting to eight Xbox One controllers at once, and is 66% smaller than the old design. Be warned, however, that like the old device, this dongle is only compatible with Windows 10 devices (including laptops and tablets) that support USB 2.0 or 3.0, and does not support Xbox 360 controllers. The new Xbox Wireless Adapter will cost exactly the same as its predecessor--US $25 / AU $30. European pricing has not yet been revealed, but it's likely the dongle will continue to cost £20 / €23 in the region. If you don't fancy shelling out extra money, you can of course connect your Xbox One controller to your PC via a micro-USB cable. This route also supports older versions of Windows, unlike the new wireless adapter. Just yesterday, Microsoft revealed three new Xbox One controller designs. They're called Green/Grey, Patrol Tech, and Volcano Shadow, and you can take a look at them all here. Side-by-side: Xbox One gamepad vs Xbox 360 gamepad. A photo comparison of the Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers. The Xbox One controller has over 40 improvements over the Xbox 360 controller, and while a few are noticeable right away, it's hard to gauge the rest without a side-by-side comparison. That's why we gave the Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamepads an impromptu photoshoot at a Microsoft E3 2013 event last night. Thanks to to our hands-on time and fondness for lugging around our seven-year-old controller, we can share the Microsoft vs Microsoft match-up with you. All of the tweaked buttons, grips, ports and tighter dimensions of the Xbox One controller over its out-to-pasture predecessors can be easily contrasted. Xbox One vs Xbox 360 analog sticks. The Xbox One's redesigned analog sticks are the most eye-catching change on the front of the new gamepad vs the Xbox 360 controller. These thinner joysticks are surrounded by a micro-texture grip on the edges, meaning it's much more difficult to have a case of thumb slippage. That's vital for marathon gaming. Just as important is that the analog sticks take 25 percent less force to move them. Dead zone has been tightened to the point that the slightest amount of movement can be registered by developers. 'One' heck of a better D-Pad. Microsoft representatives admitted that the Xbox 360 controller's D-Pad was severely lacking at the E3 event. That's why the company redesigned the directional pad to register distinct presses. After all, it did just unveil Killer Instinct for Xbox One after the fighting franchise's 17-year hiatus. The sleeker, concave Xbox One D-Pad fits this game and other fighters perfectly thanks to the ability to perform sweeping movements. Face, Xbox Guide button tweaks. The final changes Microsoft made in designing the front of its Xbox One controller are so slight you may miss them. The four face buttons have been moved closer together. Now X, Y, A, and B are easier to access when a game requires twitch button presses during those overused quick time events. While the face buttons are tighter together, the Xbox Guide button is out on its own at the top of the controller. No more accidental presses of this slow-to-boot menu button. In the center now are what Microsoft calls the View and Menu buttons, replacing the back and start buttons that have been there since the first Xbox controller. This 'One' tops all. Checking out the top of the Xbox One controller shows that the trigger and bumper buttons are completely different than what is found on the Xbox 360. The right and left trigger buttons are much wider on the Xbox One, while its left and right bumper buttons are obviously more pronounced, rising out of the controller. The trigger and bumper button area has been expanded so much that they are actually adjacent to each other, making your finger overlap between them feel much more natural when gaming. Also, you'll notice that the top, next to the sync button, is a micro USB port instead of the Xbox 360 Charge and Play cable connection. Coolest feature yet to come. The top of the Xbox One controller also contains infrared sensors that the always-on Kinect picks up. This makes it so that when a second person picks up a controller, it knows to automatically sync them as player two. Even better is a feature that hasn't been built into any games yet, but sounds pretty amazing. Split-screen multiplayer could theoretically change sides using the Xbox One's IR sensors and 1080p Kinect by determining where the controllers (and by extension players) are in a room. That's the type of innovative feature more developers need to get behind - along with split-screen multiplayer again. Impulse triggers. Microsoft is really hyping its impulse triggers that "bring games to life" and are "a whole new canvas for [developers] to work on." Disregarding the marketing, force feedback in the right and left trigger buttons does make a game more enjoyable than the last-generation rumble. Current page: Page 1. Related news.
