Harmony displays commands specific to your Play Game Activity on your remote's screen. You can add, remove, or rename them.
You can view common Xbox One commands on your phone or tablet screen. You can add, remove, or rearrange these commands.
By default, swiping up or down on the gestures screen will change volume. There are 22 gestures in total, view and customize them from the app.
I'm having trouble connecting Harmony with my Xbox One.
Your Xbox One may require a firmware update, Harmony works with Xbox One's system version 6.2.10698 or later.
I need to press a command on my remote more than once for it to work.
Microsoft Xbox One requires that IR signals be directed more precisely at the center of the game console. Harmony hub‑based remote users should position a mini-blaster near the Xbox One IR receiver for optimal reception.
If you're having difficulty controlling this device we recommend positioning an IR mini blaster as shown in the diagram below. If you're using an infrared remote such as Harmony 650, be sure to point the remote perpendicular, straight-on to the game console, directed to the center of the device.
How Harmony integrates with Xbox One.
All Harmony hub‑based remotes.
Harmony Hub pairs and controls Xbox One using IR. Your Harmony Hub and Xbox One require a direct line of site.
Harmony remotes without Harmony Hub.
Xbox One is compatible with all IR (infrared) based products. Your Harmony remote and Xbox One require a direct line of site.
We love feedback.

How to Stream Xbox One Games to a Windows 10 PC.
There are a few reasons why you might want to stream a game from your Xbox One to your Windows 10 PC: someone's already hogging the TV, you don't feel like putting down your laptop and getting out of bed, or you really want to be able to play Xbox One games with a 360 controller.
Whether you're eager to get started or you're curious to see if it works as advertised, this feature is easy to setup—we've outlined the steps you need to take below. This should work regardless if you're on a desktop, laptop, or tablet PC; so long as you're running Windows 10 (and not Windows 10 Mobile), you're good to go.
Obviously, if you haven't yet signed into your account, you'll need to do so now. You'll also need to be logged into your account on your console.
Step 2: Click on the "Connect" Tab.
From the options along the left-hand navigation bar in the Xbox app, choose "Connect."
If you're on the same router, you should see your Xbox One automatically appear among the devices you can connect to. If you're not, or for some reason don't see your console on the list, go over to your console and obtain its IP address. (You can find it by going to Settings -> Network -> Advanced Settings, and then looking at the right side of the screen.) Enter the IP address in the field at the bottom of the "Add a Device" window, then hit connect. Your console should appear in the list. To connect to your Xbox One, simply click on its name.
Once the Xbox app is connected to your Xbox One, you can begin streaming right away—just click on the "Stream" option in the upper right hand corner of the box. The default video encoding level is Medium; this should work pretty smoothly for setups that have both the PC and console on wired connections. Don't forget to plug a controller into your PC (be it a wired Xbox One, wired Xbox 360, or a wireless 360 one).
If you want to change the video encoding level before you get started, or discover that you're getting lag and/or stuttering on Medium, head to Settings in the Xbox app and then Game Streaming to change between High, Medium, and Low.
Now that you've got streaming going, you can control your Xbox One via your PC's Xbox controller just the same as you would if you were in range of it with an Xbox One controller. So to play a game, select it from your pins, the Dashboard, or My Games and Apps and you're ready to go.
You can actually stream more than just games from your Xbox One—as you've likely already noticed, this feature essentially lets you remotely log in to your console. That means you can also watch content like Netflix videos or over-the-air TV (if you have the TV tuner accessory) if you want, too. OTA TV streaming is particularly nice if you want to be in a part of your house that doesn't typically get good reception or doesn't have a TV.
Note, though, that the Xbox app actually offers a much direct path to that same content, as does being on a PC. For OTA TV streaming, you can initiate that through the OneGuide section of the Xbox app; this reduces the steps you'd need to take if you went about streaming a TV show the same way as game streaming. As for video or music streaming services, it makes more sense to directly access those through a browser.
You can also combine game streaming with Windows 10's Game DVR feature to take longer recordings of your gameplay. (Up to two hours at a stretch.) If you've been feeling limited by Xbox One's 5-minute limit for Game DVR clips, this is a workaround that doesn't involve buying a dedicated capture device.
Happily, this works for OTA TV as well—so while it's not a substitute for a proper Xbox One DVR function, you can at least record a TV show if you don't mind setting up the capture in real time. Just make sure you have enough hard drive space to accommodate; for reference, a sample 3:28 minute recording was 203.8MB. That's roughly 7GB for a full two-hour clip, with the potential of it being larger if a lot is happening during a particular episode.

How to do a Hard Restart on Xbox One.
EditHard Restart / Full Reboot / Xbox One Powercycle.
After an outage or a game install/update, sign-in issues can occur even if Xbox Live is up and running.
To fix localized Xbox One Xbox Live sign-in problems or games not starting (aka games hanging on the title screen), perform a full reboot of your system, also known as a powercycle or Full Reboot, cold restart or hard reset.
To perform a hard restart, hold the power button for 10 seconds while the system is on. The system will turn off. When you hit the button again, it will start and display the green start-up screen. All your data is preserved, but cache is cleared and some settings are reverted and log-in or game start issues are resolved.
Alternatively, you can perform a full shutdown by going to SETTINGS > POWER & STARTUP and change POWER MODE from Instant-On to Energy-saving. After changing the setting, choose "Turn Xbox off". It can be powered back on by holding down the GUIDE button on the Xbox controller or the button on the front of the Xbox console. Once it's back online you can go back to SETTINGS > POWER & STARTUP and re-enable Instant-on.
If the manual button/menu-initiated reboot doesn't work, do it the old-fashioned way: power down the Xbox One, unplug it, wait for 10 seconds, plug everything back in and power it back on.

Beam Streaming, Intuitive Guide and More Come to Xbox One Starting Today.
We’re excited to announce that we are shipping new features to the broader Xbox One community today. This is a big release, and includes Beam streaming, an updated Xbox experience with the new Guide, home improvements, and much more. One major goal for this release is to make streaming your Xbox gameplay even easier. And by updating the navigation of the Xbox console through the new Guide, we’re aiming to put the features and experiences you love the most right at your fingertips. For our PC gamers, or anybody who loves to create and play, check out this post on the Windows Blog to learn about the gaming updates coming with the Windows 10 Creators Update on April 11.
Here’s a detailed look at some of the top new Xbox Live features rolling out to Xbox One today, which we announced and released to Xbox Insider earlier this year:
An updated look at Home: One of the first things you’ll notice with this update is a new look for Home on Xbox One. We made these changes to simplify the UI and increase overall system performance. To do that, we’ve optimized for speed and are prioritizing the most valuable content for your games. Now, you’ll see a smaller icon for the game with options to dive deeper into the community surrounding the game, as well as the ability to interact with your Club or find Looking for Group posts, view your Achievements and more. If you do not have a custom background set, you’ll see that the updated Home also spotlights the game you’re currently playing by featuring hero art as your Xbox background.
Faster and more intuitive Guide: The next thing you’re likely to notice is that the Guide has been updated. With one press of the Xbox button on your controller, you can now pull up the newly enhanced Guide as an overlay on the left side of your screen. No matter what you’re doing, the new Guide experience puts the features and functionality that you use the most right at your fingertips. The first page of the Guide is designed to get you to the content you care about most, including your Games and Apps, Home, Store, your recently launched applications, the latest Games and Deals with Gold for Xbox Live Gold members, and your top Pins. If you have music playing in the background from any number of apps, you can access the controls directly from the Guide, enabling you to control play, pause, rewind, fast forward, and manage volume controls. Finally, you’ll be able to capture screenshots and record video with a simple press of a button. And in the GameDVR menu, you now have easier access to capture gameplay and to modify your options – when recording, you’ll see in the menu overlay that it lasts up to 5 minutes and within the Guide, you can also ‘Record this’ for up to 10 minutes.
New way to multitask: In addition to adding a new start page to Guide, we’re also evolving the way gamers multitask on Xbox One. To simplify discoverability and to make it easier to get to the things you care about most, our multitasking features were designed with the new Guide in mind. We’ve added a new achievement tracker that is active based on the game you’re playing, and allows you to select and follow multiple achievements in an overlay, all while you’re playing. Cortana will also appear as an overlay on your screen, allowing you to set reminders and alarms, access Party controls, and play music with simple voice controls. Watch, chat and interact with Beam on Xbox One: We’re committed to making great gaming experiences that unify players across the Xbox One console and PC. Beam is a key example of this unification, and is available for console gamers starting today, releasing more broadly to PC gamers on April 11. With Beam, we’re inviting Creators on Windows 10 PC and Xbox One to stream gameplay and interact with the community in near real-time using Beam’s ultra low-latency – no extra hardware or software required. Starting today, you can stream your Xbox gameplay directly from the Guide on your Xbox One, with the ability to manage your Beam broadcasts and interact with fellow gamers on chat overlays that appear on your screen. If you’ve never tried to broadcast your gameplay before, this is the easiest way to get started as you don’t have to download any extra software – Beam broadcasting is built right into your Xbox One. Once you start streaming, Beam makes it easy to connect and engage with your viewers no matter where they are. You’ll also find the new Beam viewing app in My Games and Apps, which lets you watch, chat, and interact with your favorite game streamers in near real-time. To learn more, check out our Beam article.
Enabling Xbox One to be more accessible for everyone : We felt it was important to enable Xbox One to make gaming experiences more accessible. Take for instance our new Copilot feature, which allows two controllers to act as if they were one. This will help make Xbox One more inviting to gamers who can benefit from playing along with another person, more fun for families by adding cooperative controls for any game, and easier for players who need unique configurations to play. We are also adding new enhancements to Magnifier and Narrator, as well as giving more options over audio output and custom rumble settings on a controller, which was previously reserved for the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. You can find these accessibility options, and more, in Settings > Ease of Access.
Screen time limits (Xbox One): As we strive to offer the most comprehensive and customizable family features possible, we want gamers of all ages to feel safe and secure when using our platforms. That’s why we’re bringing the family timer feature to Xbox One as screen time limits, updated for today’s digital family. Parents familiar with screen time limits for Windows 10 will find a similar set of controls for Xbox One. Set daily time allowance and limits for each child—your Xbox One will pick those limits up and enforce them whenever the child is signed in. To set up screen time limits, head over to microsoft.com/family, sign in with your parent account, and select “Screen time” for your child’s account. You’ll be able to turn on and set Xbox One and PC screen time limits separately for each child.
Blu-ray player bitstream passthrough: The Blu-ray disc player on Xbox One now supports bitstream passthrough, which allows your receiver to decode audio natively. All bitstream formats are supported, including newer ones like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. This feature will light up later next week.
Over the past few months, we have been targeting hundreds of improvements across the board. Many thanks to the feedback from the members of our Xbox Insider Program. Be sure to keep letting us know what you think at Xbox feedback. As we’ve said, this is just the beginning – be on the lookout for more great features. The team has worked hard and we hope you enjoy the updates to your Xbox One experience! And don’t forget that there are also great PC gaming updates coming as part of the Windows 10 Creators Update on April 11.

RUMOR: Cortana, Windows Phone’s personal assistant, is set to come to Xbox One.
As some may know, Cortana, the popular AI character from the Halo series, made her way to Windows Phone 8.1 as a Siri like personal assistant. Using a mixture of Jen Taylor’s voice, who actually voices Cortana in Halo, and Simulated voice, which Siri uses, Microsoft has shown a strong commitment to their Personal assistant. Recently, Marcus Ash, the group program director for Cortana, took to posting on Windows Phone Central. He had this, among other things, to say.
“We are actively thinking about what it takes to expand Cortana to Windows devices. Nothing official to report but we want our Windows device customers to experience Cortana at some point in the future. And we want the experience to be fantastic which means you have to start thinking about how Cortana should work across multiple devices. Working fantastic and being the best end-to-end experience for customers that have all Microsoft devices will be the natural first step. Our ideal future state is going to be that a customer that has a Windows PC, Windows Tablet and Windows Phone has the absolute best Cortana experience. Period.”
With this, we can definitely expect Cortana to arrive on Windows PCs sometime in the future, but this also shows that a likely next step would be to bring Cortana to the Xbox One. This is backed up by the above quote, and Microsoft’s commitment to bring their personal assistant across multiple Windows devices. But, on top of all of this, a user by the name of “Talderon” hit the Windows Phone Central forums and claimed that he was an employee over at Microsoft. He then went on to say that Microsoft will be bringing Cortana to the Xbox One at some point, as well a Windows 8.1 and up, which would support recent rumors that Cortana will be bundled in with Windows 9 on it’s release. Talderon has also claimed that he is currently testing Cortana on his Xbox One while playing Halo.
Though there is no way to validate these rumors, or if Talderon really is the person they claim to be, this definitely seems like a likely future for both Cortana and the Xbox One. As of this point, rumor are really the only thing we have to go on concerning Cortana and Xbox One, as Microsoft has yet to comment with specific details of Cortana’s future in their line of products and devices. But, just from Marcus Ash’s post over on Windows Phone Central, we can see that Microsoft is definitely serious about Cortana and her future on Windows Phone, as well as the many Windows Tablets, PCs, and yes, even the Xbox One. And, on top of support from Ash’s posts, we already know that the Xbox One is indeed running it’s own version of Windows, so it is definitely considered a Windows Device.
So, what do you guys think about the possibility of Cotana making her way to Xbox One? In what ways could she be implemented in a useful way? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned at Gamer Headlines for more news in the world of gaming!
Review: EA’s King of the Course Candy Crushifies Golf.
‘Battlefield: Hardline’ Beta coming to Xbox One and other platforms.
Are they going to make us wait until E3 2015 to get Cortana on the Xbox One? It could be so cool! (But has to work well from the beginning.)
Cortana on Xbox One requires Kinect.
Microsoft is planning to roll out an updated Xbox One dashboard later this year, and one of the key new features is Cortana integration. While Microsoft didn’t even mention Kinect during its E3 keynote, its console accessory is key to the Cortana experience on Xbox One. In a new promotional video Microsoft says "Kinect required for Cortana speech recognition," but the company isn’t commenting on whether Cortana for Xbox One will be updated in the future to support headsets at a later stage. If you want Cortana on your Xbox One this fall then you’ll need a Kinect if you bought one of the console bundles without the accessory.
The new Xbox One dashboard also includes improvements to speed and performance for the built-in apps, and an entirely new interface. Microsoft is using a slide-in menu to bring features like the friends list, messages, notifications, and even Cortana into view quickly within games. It all looks similar to Windows 10, and that’s because the new update will actually bring Windows 10 to the Xbox One. There’s no exact date on when the Xbox One update will be made available, but it’s scheduled for the fall.

Remote Downloading.
I wasn't sure where to put this as it can go under Xbox.com feedback or even console feedback .. but since it directly related to stuff being bought, I put it here.
Remote downloading needs to be a feature ASAP. It was already said to be a feature before the Xbox One launched. We need to be able to buy something in the Xbox Store while away from the console and that purchase needs to start installing so that it's ready when we get to the console.
It saves a ton of time and would definitely make me more willing to queue up content. Right now there's no benefit to buying remotely when you still have to go home and approve the content to start downloading.
We need this feature so the installation times are less of an issue if we can start installing the game immediately after buying online.
No more waiting to download when you get home. Mobile purchases and remote downloading are here! http://news.xbox.com/2014/08/xbox-one-next-system-update-social-mobile.

we need to be able to download games or update them via pc we all have issues.
Make digital games download faster.
How does it work on the 360?
This is a great idea!
doesnt work for me yet.
it keeps the game in the ready for download part.
what can i do to make it work.
I'd like to be able to choose to which Xbox I want the game to download, i.e. we have 2 Xbox One's, the one downstairs is set to Home for obvious reasons but most of my gaming is done upstairs. I've set Forza Horizon 2 to download earlier today but it's downloaded on my Home Xbox on and not the one I wanted it to download on.
Does this work with redeeming a game code?
I can buy from smartglass but it never downloads to my Xbox, I have my Xbox on instant on as well.
Is this Update or feature also available on Xbox 360?
Will this apply so we can access add-ons? For example. COD map packs comes out, can we go on our phones and start the download instead of having to go into the actually cod game store to do it?
I have no idea how this remote downloading feature works. Could not find it in the smartglass app or at xbox.com. Both consoles and app were updated.
Ended up manually downloading it when I got home. What use is a new feature if people can't find or access it?
"One of the most requested features on Xbox Feedback. Using Xbox SmartGlass or on Xbox.com, you can remotely purchase games and Add-on content. No more waiting to begin downloading when you get home - if your console is set to automatically take updates, your console will begin downloading your purchase."
@kiwi, no actually you could NOT and can NOT do this currently on your browser. yes you can buy content but it will NOT begin downloading while you're away to be ready when you get home. currently on Xbox One when you buy something online (mobile browser etc) it just gets put into a queue and you have to manually start the download when you power on your console.
thankfully though it's a feature they're "In Progress" on!! :)
You have always been able to do this!
You can do this with any mobile browser on Xbox.com.
I have done it well at work so my kid could play the new peggle at home.
It's funny how people are forgetting how to use the Internet if they don't have a app for it.
But still this will be a good feature making it easier and faster doing it through smartglass.
Why wouldn't they have this?! It's like they scrapped of all the useful and cool features from the 360.
They already have this feature on the 360. it for sure needs to be here. ALSO, I was quite annoyed when I could not find my redeemed DLC for Sniper Elite 3 on my console, I had to open up the game in the "Games & Apps" menu and then found where it said to install. These things should automatically start downloading when I at least turn on the console.
A few features like this that you'd think Microsoft of all companies would be on top of. They've got the integrated PC and mobile platforms, surely it's not that difficult to add?
I definitely hope this is something that's planned for this year, sooner rather than later. This would also go really well with the pre-order/pre-load idea (https://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/251652-xbox-store/suggestions/6028600-pre-order-pre-load-digitally), where pre-loading could be initiated remotely as well.
suprised this isn't higher or maybe it's being confused lol . there's no way this shouldn't be happening already.
