Inside Xbox One X Enhanced: Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. Many of gaming’s most compelling stories come from those who’ve helped to create our favorite Xbox One games. In our Inside Xbox One X Enhanced series, these creators will share the behind-the-scenes accounts of the work involved in enhancing these epic games for Xbox One X, how they’ve helped chart the course of the world’s most powerful console, and what that means for the future of gaming. Today, we’ll be chatting with Arkane Studios’ Dinga Bakaba, Lead Designer on the series-ending action game Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. What specifically is your development team doing to enhance Dishonored: Death of the Outsider for Xbox One X? We used the unique GPU power of the Xbox One X to leverage Dynamic Resolution with cutting edge graphics fidelity. Shadows quality, textures definition and level of details are at their best. The extra CPU power also helped us to make the framerate steadier even under heavy Dishonored-style combat situation. How do these enhancements impact the gaming experience? The immersion is magnified and the experience is true to the original intentions. Looks better, feel better. Why did your development team choose to focus on these enhancement areas? Given the powerful GPU and the 12GB GDDR5 of graphic memory we wanted to use it to reveal the deep and detailed world of Dishonored. How do you expect fans of Dishonored: Death of the Outsider will respond to seeing/playing it on Xbox One X with these enhancements? During development, many of us just stopped suddenly to watch, attracted by the gorgeous visuals. Some people were getting very close to the screen just to see how many details their eyes could catch in the distance. We can’t wait to see the reactions of the players. We expect them to be astonished by the visuals and thrilled by the whole enhanced experience. How has the process been to get the game up and running on Xbox One X? It was pretty short and straightforward. Leaving us some space to push the limitations back again and again. What enhancement were you most excited about to explore leveraging for Dishonored: Death of the Outsider on Xbox One X? 4K UHD, definitely. What does 4K and HDR mean for your game, games in the future and development at your studio? 4K is a game changer and soon it will become the new standard. Death of the Outsider shows some very detailed geometry which is magnified in 4K, revealing details, no aliasing and a crisp picture. HDR provides a vivid and life-like color panels, which is something we are excited to leverage in the future. Thanks to Dinga for taking the time to chat with us about Xbox One X Enhanced. We’ll be bringing you more interviews with more developers in the future, so stay tuned to Xbox Wire!

Really enjoying this title from Bethesda! Gameplay, pace and difficulty curve are very good, and it has a very deep and interesting storyline too! Couch Ninja training. I have a love hate relationship with the Dishonored series. I love the plot, setting, art style, weapons, powers, and voice actors. I hate the clunky way the controls make the characters move. Overall I like more than I disliked, but it does get annoying after more than an hour of game time. Translate to English. Язык Microsoft Store: United States - English. Its vast and fun for both stealth masters and first person shooter/sword fighters alike. It expands on everything the first game offered from one character to two, and large skill trees for both. Each character has their own abilities to learn and master. You can also complete any mission any way you want. Go in gun and sword blazing, stab everyone without ever being seen, or touch no one and go non-lethal 100% stealthy for the ultimate challenge. Hope this helps anyone on the fence for buying this game. Have fun! 79 out of 79 people found this helpful. Ussr Major Pain. An absolutely amazing game. Beautiful, fluid game play and stealth mechanics. My only major complaints is that the game is short and the story was. meh, not bad but not good either, BUT if you are someone who doesn't mind replaying games to get a different outcome then this is even more perfect for you because you can play this anyway you want. You can kill everyone or no one, the choice is up to you. 52 out of 52 people found this helpful. Great. Many playthroughs BUT. I really enjoyed Emily's skills (but her far reach snaps & can get annoying). I wish they did more new stuff with Corvo's. The enemies are more observant and civilians are a welcome addition. It is a fun game overall, but the story was really short compared to the first game. Trying to be nonlethal/stealthy can help it seem longer, and, of course you can play multiple times as Emily, Corvo, low chaos, high chaos, no powers, and various difficulties. While short, they added/improved a lot, so I was pleased with it. 76 out of 78 people found this helpful. Honored to play Dishonored. If you liked the first one even a little bit then you will love this one. these are the kind of games that should get more love and atttention, ones made with some heart and soul put into it and not stuff like CoD thats just pumped out constantly like Michelle Duggar's kids. 110 out of 116 people found this helpful. Investment Rewarded. Challenging levels. The storyline picks up at a logical point for a sequel. Excellent mix of the new and the familiar. Delivers on stealth and mercy as well as chaos and carnage. 115 out of 122 people found this helpful. A great sequel to a great game. It's not an insult to say this is more of the same when speaking about Dishonored. Same flaws, rushed opening act over top a good but not great story. Compared to the first game the ending aftermath sequence seemed a little underwhelming, the change of voice actor for the outsider won't sit well with everyone, and Corvo and Emily can get a bit too talkative. However player freedom is just as abundant as the first game if not more. With two very fun characters, excellent level design, more ways to play with new powers and non leathal combat options; the only way you'll feel bored of what you're doing is if you're purposely staring at your feet. 4.5/5 Easily one of the best games of this year. 42 out of 43 people found this helpful. A perfect sequel. Dishonored 2 is everything that a sequel should be. It doesn't reinvent the wheel; it keeps Dishonored's formula and style, but introduces a multitude of new mechanics and a fresh setting that sets itself apart without losing touch with the franchise's look and feel. This game has a learning curve, and is fairly challenging, but it stands firmly at the forefront of stealth games. 129 out of 138 people found this helpful. best game ever. I never played the first game, but the trailer on this one hooked me in. i thought why not. at first i didn't like this and that. the controls where different than other games but i kept going. the speed of the game is slow. i didn't know if i would like that, but once i got used to it, it got better. after the first world or map or city i began to warm up to it. it seemed very hard at first and i died a lot, but it's all part of it's charm. the world is beautiful. the puzzles are unlike anything i've ever seen. the game is very fresh and i wish it didn't have to end. i never really played a game more than once but i think i might play this one again with the male character seeing how he has his own set of enhancement and powers. i've never heard much talk about this series but i swear i will spread the word. good work. 60 out of 63 people found this helpful. Dishonored is my favorite game out of my 140+ game collection, I was so happy when I got Dishonored 2. I finished the game with the best ending and I was impressed. To be honest its not as good as the first one but 100% worth it to play the game cause it is very good. Now that I'm finished with this game I can get myself ready for Prey which looks like Dishonored and BioShock had a baby, lol, so hyped! 33 out of 34 people found this helpful. Sandbox fps heaven. The game has excellent level design and mechanics that immerse you and allow loads of replay value. The devs keep rolling out free updates with new modes. I let my friend play the first level and it immediatly became his favorite game and he went back and bought the first game which is unessasary. If you're looking for a game with tons of heart and soul poured into it, youve found a great gem here. 67 out of 72 people found this helpful. If the route is not open, you can backtrack to the area once you have entered the main sewer corridor. Search the indicated locations to find the hidden runes. Note: Do not forget to use the Heart to help you locate collectibles. High Overseer Campbell. 1. The first rune can be found in Granny Rags' home, which is reachable by climbing through her balcony. Go through the door near the old lady, and look in a shrine outback to find it. 2. Successfully complete some side-quests for Granny Rags to reach additional runes. First, she will ask you to remove some thugs downstairs. Neutralize the three thugs, then go back inside to find a rune in the room with the balcony. 3. Next, you will need to go to the secret laboratory of Dr. Galvani for Granny Rags. Go to the lab, and interact with the glowing red book on the bookshelf to find a secret room with your objective. The next rune is a reward for poisoning the Distillery. Go to the second large room with the stills, enter the back room, and drop down to the lower levels. Crouch under the opening, and interact with the objective. Return to Granny Rags to get the rune. 4. Go across the Wall Of Light to find a rune hidden inside a guard station. Climb onto the roof above the Wall Of Light, then use the vent on the left side to crawl into the station. 5. There is a rune in the backyard area, inside the workshop. Sneak up to the roof of the shop, and smash the window to get inside. 6. There is a rune in the room where Campbell meets with another character. The rune is above the fireplace. 7. There is a rune in Campbell's secret room. To get inside, you must trash both the Captain and Campbell's rooms so they retreat to a secret hiding place. Locate the stairs going down on the first floor. Go down the stairs to find the shrine. 5. The Flooded District: You must have completed missions for Granny Rags and Slackjaw earlier in the game to unlock the final Outsider Shrine. At the beginning of the mission, you can find Granny Rags with Slackjaw in the sewers of the district. Talk to them both, then use the door near the furnace to reach the shrine. Search the indicated locations to find all hidden Sokolov painting. Note: Do not forget to use the Heart to help you locate collectibles. High Overseer Campbell. It is located in the basement in the Overseer's mansion. To get inside, you must locate a hidden button on the wall opposite the Kennel's entrance. Press the button to unlock the entrance into the secret basement with the painting. House Of Pleasure. All paintings in the "House Of Pleasure" mission are located inside the Art Dealer's apartment. It is located upstairs from the Granny Rags' area. Completing the game without killing anyone is not easy and requires a lot of patients, as you will need to avoid being seen. Completing missions using non-lethal actions will limit your options, but reward you with a lower Chaos level, different ending, and multiple achievements. Make sure you do not kill any primary targets or tutorial guards during the non-lethal playthrough or else you will wipeout the progress you made. Thus, it is recommended you save your game often, and in multiple slots. You can be caught without penalty -- just escape and hide until the alert level goes down. When sneaking, only use non-lethal takedowns. Choke guards instead of stabbing them, and be careful when hiding unconscious bodies. While sneaking, use Lean and Dark Vision to get a good view of the environment and enemies while remaining hidden. Travel in high place, and use Blink in guarded areas to jump from one hiding spot to the next. Remain in Stealth mode, and use Possession to discover new routes, or scout ahead of your position. Make sure you remain alert and aware by studying each area well. You can find optional entrances into guarded areas, or side-paths that will lead you to new NPCs. Listening to conversations and reading notes can give you clues to unlocking new routes, or revealing nonlethal options to neutralizing targets. Listen for codes, rumors, and more. Do not rush ahead; spend time maneuvering and exploring each area rigorously, as you maybe be surprised at what you sometimes discover. In each mission, there is a non-lethal option for neutralizing your primary target. These options are usually difficult, and always require talking to a character you can find roaming the area. Before neutralizing enemies, search the neighborhood carefully, and try finding any optional quests that are available. These can be easy to find with some simple exploration, but can also require completion of several side-quests to reach. It is also recommended you use the following upgrades and equipment to make it easier to complete the game without killing anyone: Supernatural abilities and enhancements. Agility: Upgrade Agility to Level 2 to increase your speed and decrease fall damage, which really helps when you are using roofs and high places a lot. You will also unlock a double jump that makes climbing up to high vantage points easier. Blink: Upgrade Blink to increase the teleporting distance. This ability is easy to upgrade early in the game, as it only costs three runes. Dark Vision: This ability allows you to view living things through walls, and to see their cone of vision. It is an essential ability, but you can wait until later in the game to upgrade it. Possession: This is a very powerful ability that allows Corvo to reach a lot of places he normally could not otherwise. He can possess a fish or rat to get through narrow metal grates, or possess a guard to move them out of his path. It is recommended you upgrade this ability as soon as possible. Equipment and blueprint upgrades. Boot Stealth: You must first find the hidden blueprint to unlock this upgrade, which is listed in our "Blueprint upgrade locations". Its first level makes running and walking silent. Its second level allows you to sprint silently. Thus, if you are caught, running silently will make escaping easier. Crossbow: The Crossbow is the only weapon you will need when trying to complete the game without killing anyone. Upgrade its accuracy, reload speed, and anything else you can afford periodically to help increase the chance of your Sleep Bolts hitting their mark. Mask Optics: This is not entirely essential, but it is useful for scouting locations. Upgrading it will allow you to zoom in further, and to eavesdrop on conversations from afar. It is great for eavesdropping without exposing your position. Sleep Bolt: This is the only way to knock out guards at long range. Upgrade the bolts to make them useful during combat (just make sure to hide the bodies). You can purchase as many as ten Sleep Bolts from Piero's Workshop. Try keeping a full stock on hand in case of any urgent situations that may arise. Strong Arms: This charm allows you to choke enemies faster, leaving you exposed for a shorter amount of time. Swift Shadow: This charm gives you the ability to move faster while in Stealth mode. Undertaker: This charm allows you to carry corpses at a slightly faster rate. Welcoming Host: This charm allows you to possess white rats for a longer amount of time. It works well when used in conjunction with the Albinos charm. Alternately, you can use the videos below to show you exactly everything you must do to complete the game without killing anyone and get the "Low Chaos" ending, and the "Clean Hands", "Ghost", "Just Dark Enough", "Mostly Flesh And Steel", "Resolution", and "Shadow" achievements. Thief: The Dark Project reference. In Mission 7: The Flooded District, reach the Assassin's Hideout in Central Rudshore. It is the large building in the bottom corner that you must go to meet your primary target for the mission. Sneak inside so you do not disturb the assassins. Continue ahead to find a small stealth training area, where one assassin is talking to another about the basics of stealth. The assassin's dialogue is a reference to Garret's stealth training tutorial in Thief: The Dark Project by Looking Glass Studios. The dialogue in Dishonored is "For your next trial, you must remain unseen. Stay in the shadow and avoid the light. Cross to the other side of the room without attracting notice. Very good, I did not see you approach. Now, attempt a transversal." The dialogue in Thief: The Dark Project is "You must learn how to move unseen, stay in the shadows, avoid the light. The indicator on your screen will tell you how visible you are. Try to reach the top of the platform without being seen. Well done, I did not see you approach." Low Chaos ending. Easy "Big Boy" achievement. To easily kill a Tallboy using only your sword, get behind it while remaining hidden, and use Blink to get on its back, then stab it. It also helps to have at least Level 1 Bend Time to slow it down. Easy "Hornets' Nest" achievement. In Mission 3: House Of Pleasure, go to Dunnwall Whiskey Distillery, and knockout four thugs. Line up the thugs in a row. You will need four arrows for the crossbow, and Level 2 Bend Time (set it to your fast swap). Then, get behind another thug, and try to knock him out, but do not actually knock him out. When he head butts you, run back to the other unconscious thugs you lined up in a row. Jump up on a crate for a better view, then activate Bend Time, and quickly shoot all four thugs you lined up with an arrow to get the "Hornets' Nest" achievement. Find an area with four enemies near each other. There is an area during the optional quest to retrieve your gear at the beginning of Mission 7: The Flooded District. Once you climb down the chain, there will be four Weepers standing idle. You will need four arrows for the crossbow, Level 2 Bend Time, High Chaos, and "Auto-aim" and "Aim Assist" disabled. There will not be four Weepers standing in this area if you have Low Chaos. Then, activate Bend Time, and quickly shoot all four Weepers in the head. Once Bend Time ends, they should all die at once, and you will get the "Hornets' Nest" achievement. Note: If you do not have "Auto-aim" and "Aim Assist" disabled, the aim dot will float around, making it hard to shoot the enemies in the head. If you only have Level 1 Bend Time, the arrows will immediately be shot instead of hanging in mid-air. All four arrows must hit the enemies in the head at the same time when Bend Time ends to kill them all at once to get the "Hornets' Nest" achievement. Easy "King Of The World" achievement. During Mission 4: The Royal Physician, you will visit Kaldwin's Bridge. You will need to get to the foot of the bridge, which is guarded by an Arc Pylon before reaching a station with two soldiers. Sneak by to the opposite door through the bunker, and unplug the Arc Pylon upstairs. Near the plug is a staircase that you can use to travel up and neutralize the guard at the landing. Keep climbing the stairs, and activate Dark Vision, as there is another guard waiting at the next landing. Neutralize the other guard, then break the wooden boards blocking a chain you can climb. Climb up the chain, then jump onto the narrow path, and keep jumping upward. Climb the sloped metal, and jump onto the grating with wooden planks ahead. While on the wooden planks, you must use Blink to reach the platform above. Jump onto the girders, and climb the final chain. Jump over another girder. You will then see a dead body and get the "King Of The World" achievement. Another way to get part of the way to the top is by starting on the roof of the building across from the bridge, and using Blink to reach the left bridge support. Go as far as you can, then use Blink to reach the first chain mentioned above that leads to the narrow metal path. Easy "Manipulator" achievement. In Mission 3: House Of Pleasure, go to Dunnwall Whiskey Distillery, and knockout four thugs. Line up the thugs in a row. Then, get behind another thug, and try to knock him out, but do not actually knock him out. When he head butts you, run back to the other unconscious thugs you lined up in a row. Run around the unconscious thugs until the enemies start spitting flames at you. This will instantly kill the unconscious thugs, and you will get the "Manipulator" achievement. Easy "Tempest" achievement. Run around the unconscious thugs until the enemies get near you, then hold a grenade. When it explodes, it should kill all the enemies, and you will get the "Tempest" achievement. Easy "The Art Of The Steal" achievement. Start the "House Of Pleasure" mission, and visit Slackjaw. You will be told by some thugs near the Distillery that Slackjaw wants to talk. Enter the Distillery, and speak with Slackjaw. He will ask you to go to Dr. Galvani to check up on Slackjaw's inside man. Once you arrive at the building, you will find the inside man is dead. Pick up the note near his dead body, and take it back to Slackjaw. Slackjaw will then reward you with a key to the Golden Cat, and also give you an alternate method for neutralizing the Pendletons if you get the combination to the Art Dealer's safe. Before getting the combination, go to an alley past the Wall Of Light on the Boulevard, and turn left to find a lady being harassed by thugs. Neutralize the thugs, and the woman will give you a key to the Art Dealer's house. Then, travel to the Golden Cat to find the Art Dealer strapped to an electric chair. Threaten him by shocking him repeatedly using the glowing lever, and he will tell you the combination to his safe. You will then have the combination to the safe, and the key to the Art Dealer's apartment. The entrance is right next to Griff, and near the Distillery. Go upstairs to the safe, and enter " 696 " as the code to gain access to the safe and get the "The Art Of The Steal" achievement. Inside the safe is a rune, some elixirs, and many items that can be sold. Easy "Well Mannered" achievement. To avoid causing a scene at the Boyle Estate during the party and get the "Well Mannered" achievement, you must keep your weapons concealed, and not let anyone see you using supernatural abilities, gadgets, or pickpocketing. If you do kill anyone, make sure the bodies are hidden well. The safest way to get the achievement is by not using lethal force. The Possession and Dark Vision supernatural abilities will also help. If possible, upgrade both to help avoid guards and make sure you are always shadowed when necessary. You must first get into the party. You can do so by sneaking through the front gate, possessing a fish to swim under the estate and enter the cellar, or by finding an invitation. An invitation can be found in the Art Dealer's safe. Otherwise, you can sneak in through the guard barracks. Make sure you do not get caught outside the estate or on the second floor. The only neutral territory is the first floor and basement of the mansion interior. Once you are inside, one of the three Boyle sisters will be your target. To find out which of the masked sisters is your target, you must learn her name, and the color of her dress. At the party, you can walk around freely and talk with the guests as long as you do not go upstairs, kill anyone, display your weapons or abilities openly, or pickpocket anyone. Next, find Lord Brisby and Miss White. Lord Brisby is wearing a weird rodent mask, and he will call to you when you pass by. Speak with him, and he will tell you Lady Boyle's name. He will also offer to take the Lady away forever, giving you a sinister nonlethal option. Now find Miss White. She is the woman wearing a scary fly mask. Talk to her, then bring her a drink, and she will tell you what colored sister is your target. You can also learn this information by looking at the notes left in the second floor rooms; however, it is harder to get the information this way, as you will need to avoid the guards. If you are caught, you will instantly fail the requirements for the achievement. Once you know which sister is the target (the correct Lady Boyle), speak with her, and ask her to meet you in the cellar. Alternately, you can also simply possess her. Sneak into the cellar (use Blink to avoid causing problems), and then knock out or kill Lady Boyle. If you choose the nonlethal option, bring her to the waiting boat. Otherwise, possess a fish, and swim back through the grating to escape and get the "Well Mannered" achievement. Note: Create a backup save before using this exploit, as it could cause issues with your game. It can cause weird visual effects at your start and save screens. In Mission 6: The Dust District, knockout Paolo. This may also work on Breanna in Mission 5. Loot his body for three Bonecharms, but make sure to sacrifice the third Bonecharm. Kill him, then you should be able to loot him again for the same charm. It should now be glitched. It will always unequip itself. Sacrificing the Bonecharm will not give you any additional Whalebones; it will just re-appear. Stack five Void Favor Charms (four traits) to get unlimited mana. Safe locations and codes. Search the indicated locations to find the safes and codes to unlock the safes to obtain the corresponding loot: Mission 1: A Long Day In Dunwall. Safe Location 1: When you exit the palace and are on the Dunwall streets, progress until you see a large "For Rent" sign on a house to the left. Search the door to the left of that one (as you look at it) for another door. Inside is the safe, and the code for it is " 451 ". The clue can be found behind the painting in the room. The safe contains two Silver Bars and some bullets. Mission 2: Edge Of The World. Safe Location 2: There is a safe inside the Vice Overseers Office in the Karnaca Enclave. Go to the room nearby with a projector inside and grab the note off the table. It will tell you to remember three specific things. Go back to the safe and check the book on the bench to the right. Use the numbers from the Seven Strictures that were on the first note. For example, if it said remember Lying Tongue, Wanton Flesh, and Restless Hands, the code would be 2, 6, 3. The code is unique to each player. The safe contains Raw Whale Bone, Rune, and lot of money. Safe Location 3: Progress through the mission until you reach the Carriage objective. Before you enter the station, search nearby for a Winslow Safe Company shop. It is near a large black and white banner featuring Delilah Kaldwin. Safe Location 6 (Lower Aventa District): Exit the sewers and go left towards the map on the board up the stairs. Go down the left alley until you reach all the people, then enter the apartment. Enter the two digits, and then cycle the remaining digit until it opens. The safe contains money. Mission 5: The Royal Conservatory. Dispersed Incendiary Release blueprint: Go to the dock with the beached whale and turn to face the buildings. Above you will see an awning with an open window. Blink/Far Reach onto the awning and crawl into the engineering office to find it inside the safe. The blueprint creates the Incendiary Bolt, which immolates the enemy. Hardened Bolt blueprint: Progress through the area until you reach the Karnaca Enclave. Go up the stairs to the Overseers Office to find the blueprint on the table. The blueprint creates the Hardened Bolt, which inflicts greater damage. Mission 3: The Good Doctor. Combat Sleep Dart Formula blueprint: When you enter the building through the main glass doors, look up to your right. Go up to the broken walkway and into the next room to find it inside the safe. The Combat Sleep Dart Formula creates an instant sleep dart. Mercury Vapor Distillation blueprint: It is found inside Joe Hamilton's office, on the desk. If you do not get the key from him, search the box behind him with the gun inside to find the key. His office is on the top floor, up the last set of stairs next to elevator. The blueprint creates the Stinging Bolt, which causes enemies to flee and forget. Dispersed Incendiary Release blueprint: It is found inside Dr. Hypatia's lab, to the left of the Bloodfly autopsy. Mission 4: The Clockwork Mansion. Pyro-Sonic Casing blueprint: It is found inside the station in the Lower Aventa District, in the far back left corner. There is a room with a safe inside. You may be able to get in without a key, but otherwise buy the key from the Black Market. Alloy Polarization blueprint: It is found on a desk in a classroom inside the building you have to enter to disable the Light Gate in the Upper Aventa District. Conductive Filaments blueprint: In the Clockwork Mansion, proceed until you reach the room with the two civilians talking inside. There is a switch on the wall. Activate the switch and quickly leave, waiting for the floor from above to come down. Return to the room to find the blueprint on the table. Slug Splintering Wedges blueprint: In the final area in the Clockwork Mansion, where you either encounter Kirin Jindosh, look up and jump to the next level to see a large desk with a painting behind it. Check the cupboard in the front of the desk to find the blueprint. Mission 5: The Royal Conservatory. Triggered Housing blueprint: On the first floor in the Cyria Gardens Conservatory, go to the elevator. Look to the right, and go inside the room with the prototype Light Gate to find the blueprint on the table. Configurable Grooving blueprint: Speak to the Black Market vendor in Cyria Gardens Conservatory for him to offer you a side quest. Successfully complete the quest to get two blueprints as a reward. Mission 6: The Dust District. Spike Grenade Housing blueprint: Go to the Crone Hand Pub to find Paolo sitting in the courtyard. Climb the stairs behind the bar and search the nearby rooms to find a large chest with the blueprint inside. Secondary Coiling blueprint: Go to the Crone Hand Pub, and look towards the bar with the sign above that says "Saloon". Turn around and go down the stairs through the door. Take a right, then a left to find the blueprint on the table. Mission 7: A Crack In The Slab. Firing Chamber Pivot blueprint: Progress through the Aramis Stiltons Manor area until you reach the large dining room in the past. Drop down and explore the nearby hallways until you see a large vault. Switch back to the present, walk into the vault, switch back to the past, and then search the safe for the blueprint. Mission 8: The Grand Palace. Small-scale Combustion blueprint: It is found inside the shopkeeper's apartment. Go to the safe shop and loot the register for a key. Then, go to the door that leads to the Grand Palace, but do not go through it. Check the nearby apartments to find it inside the apartments with the upstairs exit to the Grand Palace that bypasses the Light Gate. Blade Conversion blueprint: Once you are inside the Grand Palace, take the elevator to the third floor. Exit the elevator and enter the room on your right to find the blueprint inside the cabinet between the two bookshelves. Folded Galvani Resin blueprint: Locate the stairwell inside the Grand Palace on any floor. Follow it to the bottom to eventually reach a room with a guard and boxes on shelves. It looks like a dead end, but use your vision ability to see a lever on the other side of the wall opposite the door you used to enter. Nearby is a tiny button; use it to open the passageway and go down the stairs to find the blueprint on the large table. Mission 9: Death To The Empress. Dual Layered Galvani Weave blueprint: Aboard the Dreadful Wale before you embark on the mission, go to the room where Anton Sokolov is painting a picture. Check the nearby crafting desk to find the blueprint. Counter-blast Inversion blueprint: Just before you reach the objective marked "Dunwall Tower Entrance", there is a building to your right you can enter -- the one with the first safe you could find. Go inside to find the blueprint on the table. Search the indicated locations to find all three Musical Duos and get the "Songs Of Serkonos" achievement: Mission 2 - Edge Of The World: They are found at the market before entering Addermire Station. Mission 6 - The Dust District: They are found in the Howler's gang hideout. You must enter stealthily and listen to them from behind the bar. Mission 8 - The Grand Palace: They are found near the start of the mission, in a back alley where you encounter the first enemies (before going through the Wall Of Light, go through the buildings on the right). Make sure to listen to a full song for it to count. When you see them, they will already be playing a song. Let them finish that one and then listen to another song from start to finish until they stop playing. This will take around 10 minutes. When you start a fight near them, they will run away and stop playing music. You must stay stealthy when visiting the singers. At the third duo, you may not get the achievement instantly. Just talk to them a few times after their song or run around the map for a while and then return. You will miss this achievement if you scare away the singers, you do not listen long enough, or you miss them entirely since there is no mission select available. All audiograph and journal locations. Search the indicated locations to find all audiographs and journals from Meagan Foster (your female comrade) and Anton Sokolov (the eldery man) aboard the Dreadful Wale. The Dreadful Wale is the ship you visit between missions. It is basically the hub area. Only journals and audiographs located on the ship count for the "Royal Spymaster" achievement. You do not have to find any during missions. Collecting them is quick and easy, as they are all sitting right next to each other. You visit the Dreadful Wale a total of 6 times during the story -- at the start of Missions 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9. If you miss a relevant item and proceed to the next mission, you cannot go back (no mission select). It is recommended to create a manual save every time you are on the ship. Everything can be reached with either Corvo or Emily. It does not matter if you do high chaos or low chaos. Your story decisions also have no impact on this. For example, if you rescue Dr. Hypatia in Mission 3, she will join the ship and leave behind some notes and audiographs of her own. These do not matter because you only need the ones from Sokolov and Meagan. So it does not matter if you kill her or save her. The contents of some letters can change depending on which character you choose and which story decisions you make, but this does not affect the achievement. The letters will only have different text but spawn in the same location. There is no way to keep track of what you have found -- so you must be very careful to not forget anything. Some of the letters shown in the video are from other people and they may not be necessary to collect, but since there are also letters from Sokolov and Meagan in there, it is hard to tell which ones count and do not count. Thus, it is better to be safe than sorry. 1 - Mission 2 - 0:05 2 - Mission 4 - 3:07 3 - Mission 5 - 4:38 4 - Mission 6 - 6:05 5 - Mission 8 - 7:11 6 - Mission 9 - 8:16. All decorative object locations. Search the indicated locations to find all ten decorative objects for the Dreadful Wale. Collect all decorative objects to get the "Souvenirs" achievement. The decorative objects are found across the nine main missions. In between missions, you will go to the Dreadful Wale ship (hub area). You can view the decorations that have been found on the shelf in the starting room. All of these collectibles are missable because there is no mission select. It is recommended to create a manual save at the start of every mission just in case you missed one, you can reload that save and replay from there. Without a backup, you will have to restart the entire story if you miss one. Everything can be reached with either Corvo or Emily. When playing as Corvo, you should upgrade the Blink range as soon as possible to reach certain places. The collectible progress is only saved when you trigger an auto-save or manual save. If you die without saving, you have to collect them again. It is recommended to save after every collectible. Mission 6 has two decorative objects; every other mission has one. Some of them require you to kill certain enemies while others are physical collectibles that you need to collect. Each mission features an open world design. Thus, you can free roam as you desired and reach any place at any time, but only if you do not complete the mission. Once you leave the mission, you cannot go back. This also makes it easy to work on multiple collectible types at once (for multiple achievements, you need all decorative objects, paintings, journals, and audiographs on the Dreadful Wale). For example, collect the one decorative object, and then collect the paintings. The other collectibles are on the Dreadful Wale in between missions. 1. Mission 1 - 0:05 2. Mission 2 - 0:37 3. Mission 3 - 1:10 4. Mission 4 - 2:47 5. Mission 5 - 3:48 6. Mission 6 - 4:30 7. Mission 6 - 5:15 8. Mission 7 - 6:04 9. Mission 8 - 6:45 10. Mission 9 - 7:14. All painting locations. Search the indicated locations to find all 27 painting. Collect all paintings to get the "Art Collector" achievement. The paintings are found across the nine main missions. At the end of each mission, you can view how many you have found. Always double check that you got all of them before proceeding. The paintings also give you 200 coins each, which counts towards the "Well Funded" achievement (get 18,000 money in one playthrough). The 27 paintings give you 5,400 coins in total. The Electroshock Machine puzzle is at the end of Mission 4: The Clockwork Mansion, when you finally meet with Kirin Jindosh. You can choose from two options. You can kill Kirin or place him in the Electroshock Machine. If you choose the Electroshock Machine, you have to create enough power to flip the switch next to the electric chair Kirin is sitting in. There are two nearby terminals that you can use that list various options such as Weaponry, Anatomy, Optics, etc. There is 11 power available and the Electroshock Machine requires 7 -- so you need to make sure the other two panels do not exceed 4. To simply do this, select Anatomy and Optics to have enough power. Easy Jindosh Lock combination solution. In Mission 6: The Dust District, you will encounter the Jindosh Lock. The Jindosh Lock combination is randomized and different for every player and changes with each playthrough. However, you can easily solve it every time by creating a manual save game at the start of the mission, when talking to Meagan Foster (before killing either of the gang bosses). Then, kill and deliver one of the gang bosses to the other. They will give you the combination for your Jindosh Lock. Write down the combination. Then, reload the manual saved game you previously created. Go to the Jindosh Lock and enter the code you wrote down to unlock it and get the "Eureka" achievement. This is also very useful during a stealth run. Use the same method, then reload the manual save and enter the code to skip the entire mission. After opening the Jindosh Lock, the mission will immediately end. Stilton's Master Key location. Shortly after Mission 7: A Crack In The Slab begins, you will receive the "Timepiece" item that allows you to time travel. Immediately after getting the Timepiece, go to the far end of the corridor. Switch between past and present time to get through it undetected. Press X to see where enemies are in the other timeline. Stilton's Master Key is in the room at the end of the corridor. Switch to present time when you enter the room, crawl under the table, switch to past time, and collect the key to get the "Under The Table" achievement. At the start of Mission 2: Edge Of The World, proceed through the Bloodfly infested building to the upper floor. You will find an infected enemy and the key to the Black Market shop. Collect the key and return to the Black Market at the start of the mission. Climb through the window behind the shop and open the door with the key to get the "Black Market Burglar" achievement. Easy "Circle Of Life" achievement. To do this, you must play as Corvo and buy all of his possession skills by the time you reach Mission 5: The Royal Conservatory (costs 13 runes). If you spend too many runes on other skills or do not find enough runes, you cannot do this. In the area with the Watch Tower (after the first Wall Of Light), make sure you are not spotted and do not kill anyone. Go to the place shown in the video and possess the hound, rats, bloodfly, human, and fish (in that order). You have very limited time to do this. After a few seconds the possession ends -- so you must be quick. Create a manual save backup before entering the area with the Watch Tower so you can retry if you make any mistakes. Easy "Clockwork Collector" achievement. While inside the mansion in Mission 4: The Clockwork Mansion (where you have to find and eliminate Jindosh), you will encounter robots that will attack when causing trouble or making a lot of noise. You must destroy three of those Clockwork Robots and then pick up their plaque from the floor after they self-destruct to get the "Clockwork Collector" achievement. Start by taking their head off (either with a ranged weapon or hold [Melee] for a range strike). It should only take 2-3 hits to take their head off. Then, run around them in circles and hit all body parts with your sword until the yellow armor falls off. They will blow themselves up after taking too much damage and leave a plaque. Easy "Counter-serum" achievement. During Mission 3: The Good Doctor, one of your main objectives will be to talk to Dr. Hypatia. To get the "Counter-serum" achievement, you must cure her by crafting the anti-serum. Do not kill her or you will not be able to get the achievement. When you talk to her in the morgue, check for a dying patient in the back of the room. He will give you a side quest and the combination to a safe. Grab the counter-serum formula from the safe and craft it. Then, inject it into Dr. Hypatia by performing a non-lethal takedown on her (RB). Complete the mission and you will be aboard the Dreadful Wale (your ship/hub area). Talk to Dr. Hypatia on the ship to get the achievement. Easy "Dilapidation" achievement. This can be done immediately after getting the Timepiece item in Mission 7: A Crack In The Slab. Leave the room where you obtained the Timepiece, and switch to the past. In the long corridor, go through the first door on the right, jump up the shelf in the kitchen, switch to present time, and go through the opening in the wall. You will now be in a new area with a balcony. Switch to past time and shoot the two support beams off the balcony. When you switch back to present time, the balcony will have collapsed. Climb up to get the "Dilapidation" achievement. Easy "Familiarity Breeds Contempt" achievement. This achievement takes place over Mission 1 and Mission 9. If you do not rob Galvani in the first mission, you will have to replay the entire game to get it. In Mission 1, after jumping down to the Dunwall City Streets, enter the first building on the left side (when facing the next objective marker) to find a safe. The combination is behind the painting in the same room. Grab the items from the safe to rob Galvani for the first time. In Mission 9, go to the exact same location as before, except this time you will be coming from a different direction (from Harbor to Dunwall Tower). Open Galvani's safe again using the same code to get the "Familiarity Breeds Contempt" achievement. Easy "Fatal Redirect" achievement. To kill an enemy with their own bullet, you need the "Reflexes" and "Superior Deflection" skills, which costs a total of three runes. Both Emily and Corvo have these skills. With these skills, all projectiles shot at you will will now be deflected to the nearest enemy while blocking. Hold Block and look for an enemy with a pistol. They wear red clothing -- the first few can be found in Mission 2. You can first damage them with your sword if desired. Only the final hit has to be their own bullet. Eliminate all other enemies in the area so the bullets are not redirected at them. Easy "Fearless Fall" achievement. When Mission 3: The Good Doctor begins, go straight to the rooftop of the hospital. You can either use the elevator or your traversal powers to get up there. Stand on the arch (edge of rooftop) and jump down onto an enemy. You must kill the enemy by pressing [Melee] just before hitting the ground to get the "Fearless Fall" achievement. You can lure enemies to specific locations by shooting the crossbow or throwing an explosive (the crossbow is best for this). The enemies will investigate the impact point of your crossbow bolt. This makes it much easier to get them in a good position for you to jump on. Easy "Flooded Basement" achievement. You will now be in a new area. Go around the left side and down to the basement. Switch to past time. There will be two soldiers in the basement. Near them is a crank-wheel and a hole in the wall. Throw the crank through the hole. Switch to present time and place the wheel on the underwater pipe. You can then drain the water to reveal the hidden rune and get the "Flooded Basement" achievement. Easy "Freedom Of Speech" achievement. While on the streets of Dunwall (after escaping the palace) in Mission 1: A Long Day In Dunwall, you will pass by a place called "Dunwall Courier". It is a building on the left of the road before going to the harbor. Go to the top floor to see the Printer being threatened by a soldier. Stab the soldier, then talk to the Printer afterwards (he will run into a side room) to get the "Freedom Of Speech" achievement after the dialogue. Easy "Gazebo" achievement. Early in Mission 9: Death To The Empress, you will have to enter the courtyard of Dunwall Tower. There are many witches gathered around the courtyard/garden area. In the gazebo in the garden is a memorial for Jessamine. Interact with it to get the "Gazebo" achievement. Easy "Heartbeat Reaper" achievement. Shortly after getting past the Wall Of Light in Mission 2: Edge Of The World, you will reach Addermire Station -- a large train station with several enemies and another Wall Of Light inside. This is just before entering the carriage. If you enter the carriage, you have gone too far and it will end the mission. Behind the registration is an armory, where you can find several grenades. Collect the grenades and alert all the enemies around the building. Lure them to the armory, then throw one of the grenades when they are standing close together in the room. The grenades have a large blast radius and will instantly kill all enemies. You can easily get 10+ kills in this area if you lure enough enemies. Easy "Morbid Theft" achievement. When Mission 2: Edge Of The World begins, go straight to the Black Market shop and climb out the window on the back to find a woman named Mindy Blanchard. Talk to her and complete her side quest to get the "Morbid Theft" achievement. She will ask you to get a certain dead body from the Overseer Outpost and bring it to her. Easy "Oracular Echoes" achievement. After getting past the first Wall Of Light in Mission 5: The Royal Conservatory, you will reach an area with a watchtower and another Wall Of Light. Proceed through that area to reach a large building with a lot of Witches (same building where you have to defeat the main target). In the main hall, go up the first flight of stairs to find a shrine on the balcony with blue glowing markings on the ground. It also has drawings of blue aliens and a machine with a switch. Activate the switch to trigger the voices. Activate it three times to listen to all the voices and get the "Oracular Echoes" achievement. Make sure to wait there until they are done talking. Easy "Place Of Three Deaths" achievement. This achievement takes place over Mission 4 and Mission 6. The first kill opportunity is in Mission 4. The two remaining opportunities are in Mission 6. Kill 1 (Mission 4): At the start of the mission, go to the Black Market shop. After exiting the shop, you will have an encounter with Paolo. Kill him there. This is easy to miss. If you missed it, you can either reload an older save game or do it in a new game. Kill 2 (Mission 6): Paolo is marked as a main objective. Investigate the hideout of the Howler gang to find him. Kill 3 (Mission 6): After the last kill, Paolo will turn into a group of rats and respawn upstairs in the Howler's hideout. He is again marked as a main objective. Eliminate him one final time to get the "Place Of Three Deaths" achievement. Note: Killing him will void the "Clean Hands" achievement (for not killing anyone in a playthrough). So make sure you do it during a High Chaos playthrough. Easy "Silence" achievement. Halfway through Mission 4: The Clockwork Mansion, you will reach the "Clockwork Mansion". You will have to eliminate Jindosh, the main target of your mission. To get the achievement, you cannot activate any of the switches around the mansion and cannot be seen by enemies. When activating a switch, the mansion will change its layout or you will hear an audio message from Jindosh, letting him know you are there. The enemies and clockworks are not allowed to be alerted either. A good way to eliminate Jindosh is with a headshot from the crossbow. Stay behind the walls, climb through windows, etc. to get through the mansion undetected. You are allowed to use the elevator at the end. A clockwork will walk near the elevator, but it usually does not notice you. Easy "Sliding Marksman" achievement. The first firearm is found in the safe room at the start of the game, where you have to use the Imperial Signet Ring. The first opportunity to get this achievement is on the streets of Dunwall in Mission 1. It is recommended you disable auto aim under the game options when attempting this. Equip a pistol and slide towards an enemy. While sliding, you must kill the enemy with a headshot. The pistol has a very wide spread (similar to a shotgun), so this is not too difficult. It can be done with Emily and Corvo. The skill "Focused Slide" makes this easier by slowing down time while sliding, but it is optional and not required for this (both characters can unlock this skill). Easy "Stay Of Execution" achievement. Shortly after the start of Mission 2: Edge Of The World, you will reach a "Wall Of Light". This is a type of electric barrier that kills everyone not authorized to pass through it. Two enemies will try to push a civilian into it. Quickly kill the enemies before they execute the civilian to get the "Stay Of Execution" achievement. Easy "The Lovers" achievement. This can only be done while play as Emily Kaldwin. First, buy the "Domino" skill. Once you have the skill, link two enemies with it by holding LT. Then, choke one of them by pressing RB. While choking one enemy, the other has to attack you. He will hit his choking comrade in the process. This will kill both of them instantly and you will get "The Lovers" achievement. Since the attacking enemy is linked to the one being choked, he essentially kills himself. The first opportunity to do this is in Mission 2. You can do it anywhere after that point. Easy "Years Ago, Another Time" achievement. This can be done on the Dreadful Wale ship (hub area) between Mission 8 and 9. Go to the upper deck where Meagan is. Pickpocket her key and open the door downstairs with it to find an audiograph and notebook. Collect them to get the "Years Ago, Another Time" achievement. Accomplish the indicated achievement to get the corresponding number of Gamerscore points: Freedom of Speech (15 points): Saved the Printer of the Dunwall Courier. Morbid Theft (15 points): Stole a corpse for Mindy Blanchard. Stay of Execution (15 points): Stopped the Grand Guard from pushing a citizen into the Wall of Light. One big point of criticism for at least for me is the same problem I had with the recent Assassin's Creed, it is too easy to fight big groups of enemies, I killed 4 with ease and 5 wouldn't be a big problem either and that is too forgiving in my opinion. I understand you play a skilled fighter but undisciplined gamers won't have fun if they do this all the time. Still for me isn't a big problem since I avoid big fights and if I get into one I load my old save immediately. If you are sneaky like I it won't be a huge problem. Looks great but with some flaws. When I was on a fast boat it started to lag (around 13 fps) and sometimes the blur can really annoy you. (while playing you won't notice) More like Dishonored .5. if you’re expecting a more polished and more awesome version of dishonored with Dishonored 2. Sorry Dishonored 2. More like Dishonored .5. if you’re expecting a more polished and more awesome version of dishonored with Dishonored 2. Sorry to break your heart, pun intended… But this game feels more like a cheap DLC than a proper sequel. it even looks like dishonored 1. A 4 year old ps3 game. the game starts out with you conveniently training the now Empress Emily on being an assassin… It introduces new ideas and mechanics to the dishonored series like sliding and jumping. but you use none of this throughout the campaign… Emilys Aunt comes to take her place on the throne and its then you choose who you play as, Corvo from Dishonored 1 or the Emperess Emily, I chose Emily as she introduces a new set of magic to the game… And you have to save whoever you don’t choose and retake the crown… Your choice does not change the campaign, but will of course change the story.. So there is incentive to play twice. Which unfortunately if you want to feel you got your moneys worth youll have to do as my run through with Emily took only about 5 hours and 40 minutes… Nothing has really changes since dishonored 1, except level design got noticeably worse… There are 2 levels that are pretty cool puzzles that will definitely test your patience, but these 2 levels are the only 2 of the 9 that live up to this series standards.. The rest all feel uninspired, and therefore I felt no urge to explore them… And creating such boring worlds to explore is bad for the player and hurts the gameplay because of how inaccessible magic and upgrades are in this game… If you aren’t willing to try and figure out how to get to a rune behind some annoying locked door.. you’re not going to have fun at all playing this game as upgrades and magic are so expensive and are mistakenly not unlocked with story progress… I felt the same about the original.. But it’s even worse here due to how inaccessible everything is. Magic should be given to you as you progress through the story and the level design should be crafted around this magic… There is an option to do a no magic run here as Emily, but even still… theres potential to turn this into 3 different campaigns centered around each characters magic or lack there of… Instead theyd rather annoy you by hiding the runes in frustrating spots like they don’t want you to have fun with their game.. Well congrats Bethesda, you win. I didn’t have fun at all… Upgrades are also only available at shops… and for ridiculous prices that you won’t be able to afford unless again, you spend the time to explore these poorly designed levels with horrible progression indication… I understand the whole point of dishonored is to place you in a world and let you go.. But there should still be some sort of direction designed into the world… For example one of the later missions I was stuck in a room forever trying to leave, only to google and find out everyone else had problems with this spot to… there was a button next to the door you were supposed to hit.. The game never tells you to look for a button to proceed, it just gives you a locked door. and it’s a Bethesda game so naturally one would assume, this is a bug. no. Just bad design. The hand to hand combat here is just as bad as it was in the original, now however there are ways to just knock enemies out instead of killing them in combat which makes a non-lethal run much easier to obtain, but the stealthy approach is still the more satisfying option… Dishonored 2 is everything we already got… Sneak around, take people out, get detected and sword fight or gun fight… Disable electric walls A dash of magic all in a less inspired world… with like 1 and a half hours of awesomeness from 2 levels. Set your standards low… It’s nowhere near as good as the original. Dishonored Definitive Edition Review. When I reviewed Dishonored back in 2012, I gave it a 9.2 ("Amazing"), concluding that: “It's a shame that Dishonored's story isn't greater than the sum of its decidedly memorable parts, but its gameplay absolutely is. Each mission is built as an elaborate network of choices for players to explore, and the same can be said for Corvo himself. Each player's selection of powers, perks and other upgrades will inform how they see and interact with this world, and no two play-throughs will be exactly the same. Dishonored is a game you'll talk with your friends about, and that you'll want to play multiple times. In this game there are always other paths to be taken and other challenges to conquer, and that's a refreshing thing indeed.” Dishonored Definitive Edition incorporates the superb original game, the three pieces of subsequent DLC, and some additional in-game bonuses. Is it a “Definitive Edition”? Not exactly. In content terms, this is the same release as the Game of the Year Edition that came out almost two years ago. As far as presentation is concerned, Dishonored Definitive Edition certainly does look noticeably better than it did on PS3 and Xbox 360 – higher resolution, better textures, more vibrant colour - but it’s essentially on par with the original PC game running on half-decent gaming hardware. I revisited Dishonored on both PC and Xbox 360 then compared them to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, and the differences between current gen console and what the PC version was doing three years ago are non-existent. It still looks great, thankfully, but that has more to do with strong art direction and a cool painterly aesthetic than technical prowess. Dishonored was a little behind the curve on lighting, lip syncing, some of its texture work and a few other bits and pieces in 2012 and this release does nothing to rectify any of that. Nor does it deliver 60 frames per second gameplay, which is a huge missed opportunity. The Definitive Edition’s load times are also a lot longer than on last gen console and PC. This is all obviously disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. After all, the HD re-releases that actually make significant improvements to the original assets and engine are the exception to the rule. This isn’t a remaster, it’s simply another entry point for gamers that never played Dishonored, and from that perspective it serves its purpose well enough. It’s worth noting, however, that Dishonored Definitive Edition makes the same mistake as the Game of the Year Edition, which included four sets of in-game bonuses that I can’t imagine were ever designed to be grouped together. To elaborate, there were four sets of pre-order bonuses for the original game’s Special Edition, divided up by retailer, with each offering additional in-game items that would be waiting for Corvo at the start of the game proper (after he has escaped from prison, joined the loyalists and come into his first power). Specifically, each had three exclusive Bone Charms (minor perks that allow players to customise their character above and beyond the core powers), a statue that unlocked the ability to equip an extra Bone Charm, and 500 bonus coins. The idea – I guess - was that players would choose the pack/retailer that sounded most appealing, and while it would give them a slight advantage, it wouldn’t mess with the progression of the game all that much. The Game of the Year Edition, however, and now this Definitive Edition, throw all four packs into Corvo’s lodging room. Yes, that’s 12 Bone Charms, 2000 gold and the ability to equip seven Bone Charms right from the start. Putting aside how ridiculous that is in the context of the world – i.e. waking up in a run-down secret base literally surrounded by arcane magical charms, equally magical statues and several pouches overflowing with money – it works against the gameplay and the value of the upgrade systems in the game. Dishonored is designed so that you have to work hard to collect money to buy and upgrade gear. Bone Charms, similarly, are something you largely have to go out of your way to find. This farcical bonus takes away from their perceived value – even though the included Charms aren’t particularly exciting - and gives players an artificial starting position within the world. I really hate pre-order or special edition bonuses that impact the intended progression of gameplay and game balance, and that’s exactly what this does. You have enough money at the outset to simply max-out Corvo’s ability to equip Bone Charms immediately. Ten at the start instead of three? Ridiculous. Stilts are the tools of the corrupt and powerful. Nonetheless, this is the best version of the game available on console, so if you don’t own a gaming PC, and have always been curious about Dishonored, then I’d still recommend picking this up, particularly since it comes with both the story DLC packs – The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches. They form a single tale, told in parallel with Corvo’s quest and focusing on Daud, the assassin responsible for killing the Empress at the start of Dishonored. I gave each a 7.5 in 2013, saying that although the gameplay was compelling it didn’t break much new ground, and the story delivered on some but not all of its potential. That’s still true, but they’re absolutely worth playing. Looking at Dishonored today, there are elements of the design that haven’t aged gracefully, such as the tendency for mission design to be compartmentalised and the somewhat quirky controls, but the gameplay is still a liberating experience, as it’s grounded in player choice. It’s entirely up to you whether you cut a bloody swathe through the world or complete all the missions without a single kill. This may not be a true “Definitive Edition,” but the good news is that the greatest strengths of Dishonored – and its additional DLC – still shine through. The industrial port setting of Dunwall, for instance, is an inspired creation, and you get the full tour; from its most grimy plague-ridden streets to its most gilded ballrooms. The extensive written lore is complemented by great visual storytelling, and incredibly memorable art direction across the board. Corvo and Daud are strong leads too, with an evolving set of supernatural powers that allow them to do things like teleport, slow time, possess other characters and see through walls. Missions accommodate this versatility well, with multiple routes, a whole lot of verticality and countless secrets for those that take the time to explore. Dishonored Definitive Edition doesn’t live up to its name, but the core game and its DLC are still stylish and fun.
