In addition, this update also has addressed several known memory leak issues related to browsing upgrades and car painting. Samsung QLED Car Pack. With Samsung QLED being our favorite way to play in 4K on Xbox One X, today we’re unveiling our latest car pack -- the Samsung QLED Car Pack, arriving on Tuesday, November 7. In true Forza fashion, this pack features an incredible variety of vehicles – from the latest Alfa Romeo to Nissan’s famous Bluebird Super Silhouette race car, as well a couple of rough-and-ready off-roaders that are built for intimidation on the race track, and a whale-tailed Porsche racer that’s best known by its nickname “Moby Dick.” The Samsung QLED TV Car Pack is included as part of the Forza Motorsport 7 Car Pass, which is available for separate purchase or as part of the Forza Motorsport 7 Ultimate Edition. Here’s a closer look at the vehicles in the pack: 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. It’s been 21 years since Alfa Romeo sold cars in the United States, and one drive of the new Giulia might infer they spent the entire time making sure their next entry was perfect. The Giulia Quadrifoglio is all Alfa Romeo, with exotic lines, delicate styling touches, and the performance you expect from an Italian sport sedan. In Quadrifoglio dress the biggest treat is the 505 horsepower Ferrari-derived 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. Not only is it four-letter fast, but the sonorous rumble it emits is stunning from idle to redline. The front bumper on Quadrifoglio models is aggressive looking and, in the rear, you will find the gigantic rear diffuser and a gorgeously protruding exhaust. It’s been a long time to wait for the new Giulia, but by any measure it was worth it. 1984 Nissan #20 Coca-Cola Bluebird Super Silhouette. If the Nissan Bluebird’s iconic angular aero kit and amazing wide body don’t immediately impress you, then the raw gut-wrenching power of its 562 horsepower LZ20B engine will. This was of course the 1980s and the silhouette-bodied cars were outlandish experiments, designed to improve grip and destroy the competition. Underneath the body, whose silhouette resembles the Bluebird production model, is a bare-naked race car. The KY910 was the first from Nissan to show what its racing efforts could produce in this class, and it was monumentally successful. The Coca-Cola liveried #20 won the Fuji Grand Championships in 1980 and 1982, and three of four rounds in 1983. Could it be your next go-to racer? The #20 is ready to ride on rails, but be careful, this is a pure race machine not to be taken lightly. 1978 Porsche #78 MOMO 935/78. Most folks know “Moby Dick” as the famous novel written by Herman Melville. In automotive circles, the nickname “Moby Dick” refers to just one car: Porsche’s beloved 935/78. This race car represented the peak of FIA Group 5 racing before rules changes made it obsolete. The long white tail of its Martini-liveried cousin gave it the nickname, and it remains one of the greatest beasts to ever blast down the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans. The car was built specifically to compete there, even incorporating right-hand drive for better balance and sighting for the curvy clockwise course. The 935 /78 could reach speeds as high as 227 mph; enough to pass the dominant Renault Alpines and the Porsche 936. The massive turbo (along with massive lag) was known for extraordinary exhaust fireballs, but these 845 hp beasts were sadly short lived. Now’s your chance to relive those late-70s thrills again. 2017 Abarth 124 Spider. Built on the same chassis and with many of the same components of the Mazda Miata, the Abarth 124 Spider takes that solid base and spices it up with Italian flair. This variant has the most horsepower available and an optimized suspension. The car’s bulging lines beg to cut their way through the wind with the top down. Under the long hood is the treat that separates the 124 from its Japanese sibling. Whether you actually find the turbo in the engine bay or note the distinguishing sound of it spooling up as you throttle up, the forced induction is what makes this little convertible a real treat. Like the Miata, this is a car you can drive at 100 percent all day and have loads of fun in the process. So, what are you waiting for? 1957 Maserati 250F. Sir Stirling Moss said it was one of the best front-engine Formula One cars he had ever driven. The great Juan Manuel Fangio broke the Nürburgring track record in a 250F nine times in ten laps in one race, overcoming a 48-second gap to win the German Grand Prix on the second-to-last lap. These are just a few of the tales from the cigar-bodied 250F’s storied history as one of the last of the front-engine racers of its era. There were only 26 examples ever produced and their racing spanned from 1954 to 1960. Piloting the 2.5-liter V12-powered lithe tube frame chassis on ancient tire technology not much wider than the accelerator pedal was not for the faint of heart. The fuel mixture contained methanol, gasoline, acetone, benzol, and castor oil, a potent and poisonous mix. The notion of seat belts seemed absurd as it was preferable to be thrown from the vehicle than be burnt alive in a crash. While you will be safe racing the 250F in Forza, spare a thought for the motorsport heroes that risked their lives every time they climbed in behind the massive steering wheel. 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Arctic Trucks AT37. Icelandic vehicle re-engineering house Artic Trucks says you don’t have to be a polar explorer to own one of their rigs, but the fact is you could be. Artic Trucks have been driven to both magnetic poles and even set a record for the fastest journey to the South Pole. In the case of the Land Cruiser AT37, defined by the size of its tires, you have a vehicle that isn’t simply lifted for looks; it has been re-engineered from the ground up to be one of the most versatile rides on the planet. A suspension and body lift, as well as full consideration of all drivetrain components, gives this Land Cruiser not only a unique look but an unforgettable driving experience. 2015 Honda Ridgeline Baja Trophy Truck. The Baja 1000 is one of the most grueling off-road races in the world. The 2015 course was 821 miles of rocks, sand, and incredible obstacles. This specially built Trophy Truck competed and won Class-2 (forced induction engines up to 3.6 liters) that year. Honda Performance Development built the Ridgeline Trophy Truck to showcase the design of the second generation Ridgeline pickup. I would like to buy the PC version but I have heard a lot about performance issues possibly stemming from the DRM this product has. Without the ability to try a PC demo I do not know if this product will run well on my PC or not. For this reason, a PC demo is much more important than an XBox demo. I'll be honest, when I got my Xbox 360 back in the day, it came with some Forza game (2 maybe?), I had never heard of the series before, but I love racing games, so I was pretty excited. I hated it. I lost all interest in Forza games and haven't touched one since. Until this game came along. I've heard so many people stoked about this game, so many good reviews, so many comments on how they focused on making driving more 'fun', that I was heavily considering picking up the ultimate edition, not even just the base game. Before I spent any money on another Forza game I hated, I wanted to make sure that A) I would enjoy it, and B) my computer could run it. No PC Demo, Still fun. **DISCLAIMER** The only reason why i'm giving this 4 stars is because I was able to play this at a friends place. Now with that out of the way. Ahem, Forza Horizon 3 is actually pretty fun, the controls can feel a bit unresponsive at times but you also have to factor in real life doesn't work on a millisecond of input. The graphics are gorgeous however not as "Life Like" as some people claim they are. The selection of vehicles is limited but not too restricting and has some variety. I know a lot of people are going to negative review this and I don't blame them but it's not quite right. There are frame rate issues, the AI cars are mostly matte now to conserve processing power, and the 2D trees, particularly in Maple Valley, look horrendous! If you insist on buying this game, DON'T shell out for the Ultimate edition! It's a waste of money because The VIP benefit will quickly expire. Many of the 700 cars are hidden in random loot boxes now, and you need game mods (also found in random loot boxes) to earn credits faster. All this is leading to a micro-transaction money grab! You can no longer just buy a car you want when you earn enough credits. Enjoy! What specifically has your team done to enhance Forza Horizon 3 for Xbox One X? First and foremost, this update enables Forza Horizon 3 to run in native 4K (3840×2160) on a console for the very first time. Forza Horizon 3 has always been a fantastic-looking game but the clarity and detail of native 4K resolution really brings the vast playground of Australia to life like never before. In addition, we’ve made a number of graphical improvements to the game, such as increased shadow resolution, improved visual effects and increased LOD and draw distances, which take advantage of the power of the Xbox One X. How do these enhancements impact the gaming experience? These enhancements are all about the visuals. We know that our fans really value great image quality, so we’ve taken this opportunity to deliver that to them with this update on Xbox One X. On top of the obvious enhancement to native 4K, there are a number of other improvements we’ve made which really take advantage of the added definition 4K brings. Reflections are sharper and clearer, environment shadows are crisper and better defined, the quality of motion blur has been increased to make the driving experience significantly smoother, and better anisotropic filtering improves the detail visible in environment textures, particularly on the roads themselves. For me, the biggest improvement is in the combination of 4K and HDR though, especially in Forza Horizon 3 ‘s dynamic time-lapse skies. The sky is such a huge part of nearly every scene in the game that it affects the feel of the game a great deal, and the improvements we’ve made to reflections and shadows really complement it. Why did your development team choose to focus on these enhancement areas? We’ve been positively overwhelmed by the positive feedback we’ve had from the community over the last year about the quality of the gameplay in Forza Horizon 3 and the amount of fun they have with it, and we feel really proud that we’ve been able to keep that going with the high-quality Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels expansions, car packs and weekly Forzathon events. This was our opportunity to bring the game to native 4K on console for the first time and make a great-looking game look even better. How do you expect Forza Horizon 3 fans will respond to seeing and playing it on Xbox One X with these enhancements? I feel like we’re at the crest of a wave in the transition to 4K – more and more people are trading up to 4K TVs and want native 4K experiences to show what their new TV can do. That was exactly my experience when I upgraded recently and I’ve really enjoyed getting back into some of my favourite games, like the The Witcher 3 for example, as they’ve released their enhanced versions. I hope that will be the case for Forza Horizon 3 fans as well. When I’ve been playing with the update in the studio, I’ve been really blown away by the beauty of the world, like I’m seeing it for the first time and I hope Horizon fans feel the same way too. One of my favourite things about Forza is the incredible photography which comes out of the community. I follow a bunch of Forza photography accounts on Twitter, where the creativity of Forza fans always blows me away, so I’m really looking forward to seeing the community photographs which come out of the enhanced version. How has the process been to get the game up and running on Xbox One X? It’s been incredibly straightforward. It took us less than a day from receiving our first Xbox One X kit to get Forza Horizon 3 up and running in 4K, and when we did we still had a lot of spare headroom on both the CPU and the GPU. The Xbox One Development Kit for the Xbox One X is by far the most developer-friendly and powerful dev kit we’ve ever worked with, which makes it a pleasure to develop for. What enhancement were you most excited about to explore leveraging for Forza Horizon 3 on Xbox One X? Our goal with this update was to bring Forza Horizon 3 in 4K to console for the first time, and that’s what we’ve delivered. As I mentioned earlier, as one of the first titles which featured HDR on the Xbox One S, we’ve been really excited by the visual combination of native and HDR technology – it is a real, evolutionary leap in graphics. What does 4K and HDR mean for your game, games in the future and development at your studio? We know our players value incredible visuals, effects and image quality, and we put a huge amount of effort into delivering them with every title. Native 4K resolution, especially when combined with HDR, is a huge step forward in visual fidelity and as mass adoption of 4K displays continues it will become the standard by which game visuals are judged. For us, as a studio, the power of the Xbox One X, as well as its ease of development and straightforward compatibility across the Xbox One family of devices, has made it the lead development platform for the new title we’re currently working on. This means a couple of things. It's casual enough to just jump right in and race and enjoy the great responsive controls and beautiful graphics of Australia. With over 350 cars from all corners of the world, there is an endless variety of cars to experience within the game. The amount of tuning and customization within the game means that you can turn something as slow as a Volvo 850 R into an extremely powerful beast capable of beating the fastest cars in the world. In recent years, the Need for Speed series has been improving the customisation side of their game to a high level, and for visual upgrades Need for Speed has a bigger variety, however for the performance upgrades Forza has far more possibilities and options. The standard for map design in the Forza Horizon series was already high, with Forza Horizon 2 being set in a beautiful location in Southern Europe alongside the Mediterranean. However, Horizon 3’s world completely eclipses it. Forza Horizon 3 is set in Australia, and the amount of different environments – such as Byron Bay, the Outback and the rainforests – is amazing. Furthermore, the attention to detail across the whole map is extraordinary, as even little things such as road markings, signs and even garbage bins outside houses are made with extreme care and precision. Whilst the map in Forza Horizon 3 is nothing in size in comparison to The Crew, the amount of changing landscapes and different environments makes it just as good, if not better. Helping the world look incredible is the new authentic lighting featured in Forza Horizon 3. The dramatic, ever-changing weather is simply some of the most realistic weather in any game. The reason the lighting is so impressive is because Playground Games, the developers, sent six staff members to New South Wales in Australia, armed with a 12K camera to simply record the sky. The variety of weather is realistic to what happens in Australia, adding to the authenticity of the game. In the last two Horizon games, your character was simply just an entrant in the Horizon festival, with strict guidelines on the events you had to do in a certain order. However, this time, your character is in charge of the festival. Any single event has no restrictions – you can choose the class of car, the type of car, the weather, the time, the amount of laps and more. Not only that, but as host of the festival you have a larger choice of activities to complete in the game. The incredible graphics come at a price, however: the game only runs at 30 frames per second on the Xbox One, remaining locked as always. Inconsistently, the game can drop to lower frames per second, but this is usually only during unimportant cut scenes in the game. However, because this new Forza is released on PC, it is possible to play at a higher frame rate, but you will need a powerful system. The recommended specs for playing at 60 frames per seconds is a NVIDIA GTX 1060 combined with an i7 3820 is what is needed. Sometimes the PC version can experience frame drops, and rarely the game can crash, however it does not happen often. There are also two expansion packs in the game – Blizzard Mountain, which takes players to snowy, torrential conditions and the ‘Hotwheels’ expansion. This expansion adds ‘Hotwheels’ ramps, stunts and cars that many people played with as children to the game, adding a high-octane dream containing life-size toys completing loops and half-pipes type of fun to the game. Taking a Pagani Zonda R on miles of stunts, banking on many iconic orange tracks from Hotwheels is delightful. It differs completely from Forza’s realism, adding a completely different automotive experience to the game. The fact that you do not get penalised for bad driving shows that Forza is striking a clear balance between an in-depth simulation and a fun casual game, and they are doing that very well. Sure, you can get rewarded for ‘clean driving’ if you do not hit anything for a while, but if you decide to completely smash through every fence in your way? ‘Great wreckage.’ Letting players get experience to rank up by driving how they want to show they believe there is no ‘real’ way to play the game, so you can play it exactly how you want to. Forza Horizon 3 is, in my opinion, the best ever racing game to be released. It has a great mix between realism and arcade, with a simply fantastic car selection, and so far it has not been boring once. This game is simply miles ahead of the current competition. … Expand.
